Disclaimer: Fullmetal Alchemist does not belong to me. If it did, sexy Scar would not be dead.

Well… I can't really think of what to say. Some of my reviewers kept the same positive attitudes, but some were confused about a few things. Too many for me to mention and correct right here. But the main thing I keep hearing about is how I should accept constructive criticism, and thank the people who help me. The people who say that are referring to what I said about "The Tao of Hyuuga", and yes, I know, I was way outta line. But I've apologized and everything's cool between us.

Another thing is, some people like this fic, and others… well, to put it simply, don't. But the point I try to make is that I will accept their helpful suggestions, but I will not get discouraged and stop writing. There, I think I made my point without sounding too much like a snob.

So, without further ado, please enjoy this chapter about our favorite scarred man!

Chapter 9 The Scarred Dude

"So… we have to what?"

Ed was mad again, at you guess who. Mustang. Apparently, Ed wasn't too thrilled about having to search for the notorious state-alchemist-killer Scar. (Yes, I know he's dead, but my story needs him!)

"Fullmetal, you ask too many repetitive questions," Mustang sighed. "You… have… to… search… for-"

"Yeah, I know!" Ed yelled. He obviously couldn't stand being talked to like a child.

"So why did you ask?"

"I guess he just wants to know why we have to look for him." Al said, while Ed fumed.

"Take that up with the Furor, not me." Mustang said matter-of-factly. "It was his decision."

"Whatever," Ed muttered, turning around to leave. "Al, Rachel, come on."

XXX

"Damn him!" Ed kicked a nearby brick wall.

"What's wrong now, Brother?"

"It's just… why can't Mustang do this himself?"

"You heard him," I reminded Ed. "It was the Furor's orders."

"Yeah, yeah."

"But I don't really mind searching for him."

Ed and Al looked at me. I guess the love sparkles dancing around me were a giveaway.

Now Ed was giving me his "what-a-weirdo" look. I peered around a corner, and saw an ancient building that you'd have to be crazy to enter out of your own free will. But it might be the perfect place for Scar to hide. I'd hide there. At least, if I was a crazy fanatical serial killer, that is.

"Ed!" I called. "Over here!"

The blonde came running to me, followed by ever clanking and noisy Al. They peeked around, just as I had, and Ed rubbed his chin. He looks so cute when he's thinking.

"Well," he said. "That definitely looks like a place where he could be. We'd better go check it out."

We ran to the door, but as always, Ed pushed his way to the front of our little group. (Threesome would be a weird thing to say…) A part of me knew that was a bad idea.

"No, Ed!" I said. "You know what happens when you open doors first!"

Too late. Out of the door burst a man in a yellow jacket, who ran smack-dab into Ed. They fell to the ground, both yelling things so loudly it was hard to understand exactly what each was saying. I'm pretty sure Ed was cursing everything that came to mind, and I think I heard the man ranting something about "damn state alchemists". After the first few moments of shock, cursing, and laughing (What? It was funny!), the two extricated themselves from each other (no dirty thoughts intended), and jumped to their feet.

"So, Fullmetal," the man said. "We meet again."

"How nice running into you," Ed growled. "We were just looking for you."

So it was Scar!

Unfortunately, I was too busy obsessing over Scar that I didn't notice his glowing red arm. That just happened to be aimed for Ed's face.

"Rachel!' Al screamed at me.

Acting much more heroically than I normally would have, I screamed something that sounded like a mixture of "Stop", "Don't", and "No", before throwing myself in front of Ed. Scar stopped in his tracks, staring at me.

"What's this?" he asked Ed coldly. "A new bodyguard?"

"I most certainly am not!"

Scar had never stopped looking at me, but his undivided attention was mine now.

"Then who are you?"

"Just a friend!" Ed yelled, shoving me out of his way. "No one that needs to die!"

"Well, neither do you!" I yelled back at him, getting to my feet. "And watch who you're pushing!"

"What?"

Now everyone was confused. Scar had even lowered his arm, which was no longer glowing. Good. Just the way I liked it. No yelling, no fighting, no interrupting me. I turned to Scar, trying not to hug him. Because then Ed would hate me. And Scar would probably kill me.

But how was I going to settle this? There's no way Ed was going to let up the fight, and Scar sure wasn't going to either.

"Look," I said, in my trying-to-make-peace voice. "Can't we all just get along?"

What do you think, stupid? That's what my mean old brain was saying to me.

"No."

Scar and Ed had said that at the same time. Neither one was about to hand victory over to the other. Personally, neither would I in their situation, but that wasn't the case.

"Scar," Ed began. I was worried, because he has a temper and doesn't always watch what he says.

"Brother, don't," Al said, reading my mind again.

Ed cast a glance at his brother, but only for a moment. He didn't trust turning his back to Scar. Well, duh.

"We came to find you," Ed told Mr. "I-kill-people-but-I'm-still-hot". "We had orders."

"I don't care about your orders," Scar said. "Especially those from the military."

"Ed, we can let him go, you know," I said. "Just say he got away."

"Are you crazy?" Ed said, raising his voice for the millionth time that day.

"Well," I continued. "You weren't supposed to capture him. Just search for him."

"Why are you defending me?"

Scar's question caught me off guard. Of course I knew why, but he didn't need to.

"Aren't you on the military's side?"

No, no more questions!

I didn't answer. I didn't have to. Ed sighed, in the way that he did when he knew he was fighting a losing battle. That's the smart decision to make when you're arguing with me.

"Well, Scar," he said. "I guess you're not really after me, are you?"

"You're a State Alchemist."

I love Scar's voice.

The rain started to fall, drenching my hair, and Ed's too, causing his bangs to droop. Scar looked up at the sky, watching the drops that fell.

"This is how it used to be," he said. "In Ishbal…"

I smiled. The problems were over.

Well, you can't really call that a cliffhanger.

I was really hoping that the chapter with Scar could be more exciting, but not everything I want happens! This fic is proof of that.

Anyway, I was glad just to meet him at all in the story.

The next chapter is not something that everyone is a fan of. I guess it's a good part of the story, not something you'd want to skip over, but… it's just random love drabbles.

So, please read it, but don't forget to review for this chapter first!
