Summary: They don't hate each other as much as everyone thinks

Dedicated to supercaptain182 …. For convincing me to write this.

Clark sighed as he felt the cool breeze from the Talon envelop him. Summers in Smallville had a tendency to be unbelievably sweltering, and any reason to get out of the heat was welcome. He looked around, and saw Lana working behind the counter. She was using her break from Met U to try to get the Talon back on track. Clark was busy working on the farm, and trying to keep it from going bankrupt.

Clark walked across the Talon, leaned across the counter, and kissed Lana on the cheek.

"I have another hour and a half down here. Why don't you go upstairs and take a nap," Lana said. Clark grinned his answer, and trudged up the front stairs to get to Lana's apartment. His hand barely touched the doorknob, and the door opened for him.

Immediately pale arms pulled him inside. Arms that wrapped themselves around Clark, and held him fast. Clark found himself pressed against the closed door, pale lips pressed against his.

"It's been too long," Clark said, breathlessly.

"I know, it's been murder trying to get time away to see you," Lex replied, moving them to the bed. Lex and Clark both stripped quickly and quietly, their need overriding everything. When both were naked, Clark threw Lex onto Lana's bed. Through their silence, they could hear the sounds of the Talon filtering through the floor. Lex moaned softly as Clark's lips made their way down from his neck, and Clark's teeth and tongue found Lex's nipple.

"How much time do we have?" Lex asked softly, hands clenched in Clark's hair.

"Lana said she'd be up in an hour and a half," Clark moaned.

"Are we sure that's enough time?" Lex asked.

Clark flipped Lex onto his stomach. "Plenty of time."

Half an hour later, Clark lay dozing on Lex's chest, Lex's hands caressing Clark's hair.

"I hate this," Clark said.

"I know. I don't know how much longer I can pull off this whole 'I hate you' routine," Lex replied.

"When can we end this and be together?"

"I don't know," Lex said, hands still sifting through Clark's hair.

"It won't be soon enough for me," Clark said with a grin. "I can't wait to be able to ravish you without worrying if someone is going to walk in on us."

Lex sighed. "I agree and now we need to get going unless we want Lana to walk in on us," he finished with a smile.

"Wouldn't that just make her day," Clark replied. He and Lex climbed off the bed, and slowly got dressed. Between each piece of clothing, they shared a tender kiss. These kinds of moments were few and far between.

"I'm gonna go down the back stairs, and sneak out the back way," Lex said.

"I'll go out the front and make some excuse to Lana so that I can go back home," Clark said.

"Meet you tonight in the barn?" Lex asked hopefully.

"Midnight," Clark replied with a grin.

Lex smiled, and made his way down the back stairs, got into Porsche, and made his way back to the Mansion.

Clark opened the door to leave, and there was the bubble gum princess herself.

"Clark, where are you going?"

"Mom just called and said she was having some trouble with the combine. I need to go fix it. Rain check?"

"Come by tomorrow and we'll have dinner," Lana replied.

Clark smiled and left the Talon, headed home to wait ….. for Lex.

Lana smiled at the thought of dinner with Clark as she entered her apartment. As she neared her bed, ready to take a nap, she stopped.

"What is that smell?"
