A/N: Thanks for continuing to read, review, and follow! I really appreciate it. I apologize for not posting sooner. I didn't write anything while I was on vacation which made it a little hard to get started again. I also paid for vacation when I got back to work and was greeted by 700+ emails among other things.

I want to warn you upfront that this storyline could have some triggers because it does deal with a sensitive topic. Remember what work the Miranda Center does before proceeding. Please read the Author's Notes at the end of the chapter. This chapter picks up where the last one left off. Hope you enjoy this update!

While Lisa recorded the arrest, something else caught Marissa's attention. She saw Nora talking with a young African-American woman, and after a minute or so, both looked her way. The two continued to talk as they made their way over to where Marissa was standing.

"Marissa, I have someone that would like to talk with you."

The redhead nodded and looked at the younger woman. She had a good idea what the younger woman wanted to talk about. The younger woman also looked familiar, but Marissa couldn't place her at the moment. "Hello, I'm Marissa Tasker. This is my associate Lisa Walsh. How can we help you?"

It was obvious that the younger woman was nervous, but she cleared her throat and straightened her shoulders and back. "Hi, Ms. Tasker, Ms. Walsh. I'm Stacey Banks, and I'm a member of the university's gymnastics team. Dr. Landry treated me for an injury. Judging by his arrest, it looks like I'm not the only one who received that treatment."

"I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear that." Marissa knew as soon as she heard Stacey's name where she knew her from. Stacey Banks was a rising gymnastics star and was a member of the U.S. gymnastics team. She had just missed out on an individual Olympic medal in the balance beam in Rio.

"Ms. Buchanan tells me that you might be able to help me. You see, I want justice. What's happened here needs to stop and to never happen again. The people who allowed it to happen, they need to be held accountable. I plan on filing charges against Landry, and Ms. Buchanan suggested that I should probably get a lawyer of my own to help me through what lies ahead. She said you were from Pine Valley and are already representing someone. One of my teammates is from Pine Valley and had been injured. She had to see Landry."

"I know what you want to ask, and I need to stop you. I can't talk about another client without their permission."

Stacey nodded. "I understand."

"With that said, I can tell you that there will be an interview on The Banner's website airing in a little while that I think you should watch."

"Really? I'll be sure to catch it then. Would you be willing to talk with me about representing me too?"

"I would. Have you talked to anyone else about what happened to you?"

"Not really. I know I need to talk to my family, but I'm not sure how."

"Have you heard of the Miranda Center?"

"Yeah, I have. It's based in Pine Valley, but there are branches in other locations, right?"

"Right. My wife is the founder."

"Seriously? You're married to Bianca Montgomery? She's amazing."

Marissa smiled. "Yes, she is. The Center is working with my current client and is gathering resources to help any other former patients of Landry. If you'd like, I could set up a call, and you could talk with someone there. They could maybe help you figure out how to talk with your family."

Stacey thought for a moment. "I … I think I'd like that."

"I'll call Bianca and see what she can set up then."

As Bo was escorting Landry to the police cruiser, the doctor stopped when he saw one of his former patients talking to a redhead.

"Who's that? The redhead talking to the D.A.?"

Bo glanced over his shoulder and grinned. "Her? Oh, she would be your worst nightmare, Landry. She's a lawyer who just so happens to represent a former patient of yours. From what my wife tells me, she's pretty damn good too. Want to know something else? She can't stand people who abuse or take advantage of others. You know, like a doctor who abuses and assaults his patients, for instance."

Landry stopped and faced Bo. "I didn't do anything wrong. I was administering valid treatments for my patients. I was helping them."

"I saw a recording of one of those treatment sessions. I may not be a doctor, but I know what I saw sure as hell wasn't a medical procedure. If it was, you wouldn't be wearing those cuffs and also be a guest in my jail."

Just as Bo was opening the rear door of the police cruiser, Vincent Turner ran up.

"What's going on here? What are you doing?"

Bo just looked at the man. "I'm doing my sworn duty as the Llanview Chief of Police and arresting this man."

"On what charges?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"I'm Vincent Turner, the A.D. of this university."

"Good to know, but that means nothing to me. It also has no bearing. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to escort my prisoner to be booked." Bo knew exactly who Turner was thanks to Nora, but he was being honest when he told the other man that it had no bearing on what Bo was doing.

"Jerry, don't say anything."

"I haven't done anything wrong, Vincent."

"Good. Good. Stick with that. Do you have a lawyer?"

"Do you really think I need one? Again, I didn't do anything wrong."

Turner shook his head. "Yes, you do. I'll have someone meet you at the police station. We'll get bail posted."

"You're assuming that bail will be granted, Mr. Turner." Nora had seen Turner talking to Bo and decided to see what was being said. She got there in time for the good part. "I plan on asking for bail to be denied."

"Who the hell are you, and how do you know who I am? What right do you have to make that request?" It was evident Turner was angry at the nerve of this woman.

Bo grinned. "Allow me. This is Nora Buchanan, the Llanview District Attorney."

"You're the D.A.?"

"Yes, I am, and I know many, many things. And like I said before, I intend on asking the judge to deny bail. Your friend is far from innocent, and I and my friend Ms. Tasker," Nora paused to wave at Marissa who smiled widely and waved back, "intend on seeing that your friend pays for his crimes, and that it is done to the fullest extent of the law."

Having already met Marissa, Nora's statement had Turner pale. He did offer one more warning to Landry. "Not one word, Jerry. He's invoking his right counsel."

"If you'll excuse me, it's time I take Landry here to get booked." Bo helped the disgraced doctor into the back of the police cruiser and closed the door. He then turned to Nora. "I'll see you at the station."

Nora nodded. "I'll see you there." She quickly addressed Turner. "Oh, Mr. Turner, you can't invoke someone else's rights. It's the same as not being able to deny someone else's rights." Nora then headed back to where Marissa was. The last pointed statement hit its target and left the man speechless. Nora noticed a small crowd gathering around Marissa, and it was evident that the lawyer had things under control. She smiled and decided that she would ask Marissa and Lisa if they would like to join her at the upcoming arraignment and get a closer look at Landry. Nora was pretty sure she knew what their answer would be.

"Stacey, what's going on? Are they really arresting, Landry?" A young blonde woman joined the group in hopes of finding out what was going on.

"Yes, they are. Carly, this is Ms. Tasker and Ms. Walsh. You know that thing we've talked about?"

"You mean …"

"Yeah. They're lawyers and are helping someone else like us."

"Seriously? You mean there's someone else?"

Stacey nodded. "Probably more. Ms. Tasker and Ms. Walsh are willing to help us like they're helping their other client. She's pressing charges against Landry and is going public. She gave an interview with The Banner, and it's going to air later today. It's time for me to speak up like that other girl. What Landry has done has to stop. I'm not going to let him get away with it anymore. I'm not going to let him hurt anyone else."

Carly thought for a moment and then nodded. Stacey and Carly were best friends and had recently finally opened up to each other regarding the secret they had kept from everyone. She turned to Marissa. "Hi, Ms. Tasker. I'm Carly Castellano. I was one of Landry's patients, and he assaulted me too. Would you help me? What do I need to do?"

"The same question for me. Where do we start?" Stacey asked.

Out of the corner of her eye, Marissa had seen Nora approach but hang back a bit. She could tell the other lawyer had caught part of the conversation but didn't want to interrupt. "I have to first ask you both a question. Do you want to press charges?"

Stacey and Carly glanced at each other and then back to Marissa. With their minds made up, they answered together. "Yes."

Marissa motioned for Nora to join them. "This is Nora Buchanan, the Llanview District Attorney. Stacey, you've already met her. Nora, this is Carly Castellano. Both she and Stacey would like to press charges against Jerry Landry."

"Hello, Carly. Right now, Landry is being taken to the police station where he will be booked on multiple charges, including sexual assault."

Including sexual assault? What other charges are there? Marissa couldn't help but wonder. She would definitely have to ask Nora about that later.

"I would like to get your statements, and then I can file additional charges based on those statements. Knowing Marissa as well as I do, I have no doubt that she would like to talk with you privately before that happens."

"You would right on that, Nora. Would you be able to help me find somewhere we could talk?"

Nora nodded. "I can definitely do that. There is something I would like to talk with you about first if we could."

"Sure." Marissa noticed that Lisa was still recording something, but she wasn't sure what. The redhead addressed the younger women. "I'll be right back."

/

When they were clear of everyone, Nora looked at Marissa. "It would appear we are both getting more clients."

"Yes, it would. So, what's up? I saw you talking with Landry and Turner. I noticed Bo had a shit-eating grin too."

Nora chuckled. "That's my husband. Turner was surprised that I was the D.A., and Bo was more than happy to make that introduction. It always amuses him when people are taken off-guard by that. Turner was telling Landry to keep his mouth shut and was assuring him they would arrange bail for him. I informed them that I planned on asking for bail to be denied."

"I bet they liked that." Marissa's sarcasm clearly evident.

"You know they did. Anyway, I wanted to see if you and Lisa would like to join me at Landry's arraignment."

Marissa grinned. "We would love to."

"Excellent. I'll see about finding you a place to talk with Stacey and Carly."

"Thank you."

/

Marissa and Lisa found their way to the courtroom where Landry's arraignment would be and took their seats on the prosecution's side. Nora and Bo were conferring with each other but noted the other lawyers' arrival. While they waited, Marissa remembered a question she wanted to ask Lisa.

"What all were you recording earlier?"

"Oh, I got you and Turner in his office. Then, I got Landry being led out of his building. After that, I recorded Turner and Bo talking and then Nora talking with them. My favorite part, however, was Bo putting Landry in the cruiser. The most interesting piece though was after all of that. Turner was talking to two other guys. I asked Stacey and Carly if they knew who they were. They only recognized one of them as their coach. They had no clue who the other guy was."

"Interesting. I definitely want to see what you recorded. As to the mystery man, we'll have to ask around and see if anyone knows who he is."

"Good afternoon, counselors. Mind if I join you?"

Marissa smiled and made room for Bo. "Not at all, Chief. Bo, I'd like you to meet my associate Lisa Walsh. Lisa, this is Bo Buchanan. He is the Llanview Chief of Police as well as Nora's husband."

"It's nice to meet you, Chief Buchanan." Lisa shook Bo's hand.

"If we're going to work together, you're going to have to call me Bo."

Lisa was clearly charmed by Bo. "Okay, I can do that, Bo, but only if you call me Lisa."

"It's nice to meet you, Lisa. How are Bianca and the kids, Marissa?"

"They are great. I have lots of pictures to show you later."

"I look forward to seeing them."

"Nora tells me that Matthew is looking at colleges. That is hard to believe."

"Tell me about it. I hate to say it, but after hearing what's going on here at LU, I'm not sure I want him to go to school there. My gut is telling me that this is just the tip of the iceberg."

"Mine is telling me the same thing. Lisa's got a video of your buddy Vincent Turner talking to Coach Pritchard and another man. Would you mind taking a look after the arraignment to see if you recognize him?"

Bo nodded. "Of course, I'll take a look. If I don't know who he is, I'll find out. It's good to be the chief sometimes."

"It's even better to know the chief sometimes!" Marissa quipped, and Bo chuckled in response.

"I heard you had a fun meeting with Turner earlier."

"Fun to a degree for me. Probably not so much for him."

"I recorded it. He said some pretty damning things, and you can tell that he really didn't like Marissa by the time we left." Lisa smirked.

"You're going to have to show me that tonight." Bo grinned.

"It will be my pleasure."

"Looks like they're about to get started." Marissa said when she saw a police officer lead Landry into the courtroom. The disgraced doctor's hands and feet were shackled. In place of the suit he had worn earlier, he was now dressed in a bright orange prison jumpsuit. Marissa knew that prisoners were normally in their own clothes for arraignments. She could tell by the matching smirks on Nora's and Bo's faces that they were behind Landry's current attire, and she would have to thank them for that later.

Marissa studied the man as he shuffled forward. He looked to be around 50 years old, wore dark-rimmed glasses, and had greying hair. Despite the orange jumpsuit, she detected a hint of arrogance and authority about him, but at the same time, she could sense his attempt at projecting an air of compassion that one would normally associate with a doctor while at the same time appearing meek. It could be an effective disguise. Marissa wasn't buying it though. She knew why he was doing that. It was an attempt to disguise the monster that was hiding just below the surface. The monster that had abused and assaulted an ever-increasing number of young women. Marissa knew that she would do everything in her power to make sure that monster never harmed anyone again.

As if he read her thoughts, Bo whispered to Marissa. "He's going down. That son of a bitch will never live outside the walls of a prison again."

Marissa glanced at Bo and nodded. Before she could reply, a bailiff entered the courtroom.

"All rise. The honorable Candace Morrison presiding."

The judge entered, sat, and rapped her gavel. "Be seated. What is our first case, Mr. Parker?" Candace Morrison was a no-nonsense judge and had been on the bench for several years. She had earned a reputation of being tough but fair.

Darrell Parker addressed the judge. "People versus Dr. Jerry Landry, your honor."

"Counsel?"

"Nora Buchanan for the people, your honor."

"Dr. Landry, who is representing you?"

"Brad Dreyfus for the defense, your honor. I request that my client be released on his own recognizance. These charges are a blatant attack on my client's good character, and we will be filing counter charges."

Judge Morrison simply looked at the defense attorney, not giving anything away. "How about we hear the charges before I make any ruling, Mr. Dreyfus? Ms. Buchanan, what do you have to say?"

"Jerry Landry …"

"Dr. Landry." Dreyfus interrupted. "My client is a doctor and should be addressed as such."

Nora had no intention of using that title. He didn't deserve it, and if she had her way, he would be stripped of it very soon. "The defendant is charged with five counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual abuse, and 25 counts of possession and distribution of child pornography."

Marissa and Lisa glanced at Bo when they heard about the other charges. These were the other charges that Nora had alluded to earlier.

Bo leaned closer. "I'll tell you more later, but he had a lot of nasty stuff on multiple electronic devices."

"I guess that really doesn't surprise me." Marissa whispered back.

"This is ridiculous and a miscarriage of justice! He is no threat to anyone and is a pillar of the community." Dreyfus railed on for several minutes.

"Would you like to see what your client had on his home and work laptops, Mr. Dreyfus? I'm sure the individuals in those photos and videos as well as the young women he assaulted would disagree with his being a 'pillar of the community' and not being a 'threat to anyone'."

There were murmurs throughout the courtroom when they heard the back and forth between opposing counsel. At the present time, there were only a few reporters in attendance who were providing normal coverage of the courthouse, but that would soon change as soon as word got out about Landry."

Judge Morrison rapped her gavel. "Order. Let me see what you have, Ms. Buchanan."

Nora handed over some of the items she had to the bailiff who in turn handed them over to the judge. After a few moments, the judge spoke."

"Mr. Dreyfus, what do you have to say?"

"This is the first I'm hearing about some of these charges, your honor. It seems the district attorney is withholding evidence."

"Your honor, the computer techs in the police department retrieved the files that the defendant had attempted to delete just prior to us coming to court. These were only some of the files they were able to retrieve. I was informed that they believe that there are many more files."

Landry paled noticeably when he heard Nora. He was sure that he had deleted everything.

"As such, the people expect to file additional charges at that time."

Dreyfus looked at his client. He was not expecting this.

"How does the defendant plead?"

After being nudged out of his stupor by his attorney, Landry spoke. "Not guilty."

"What say the people on bail, Ms. Buchanan?"

"The people ask that the defendant be held without bail, your honor."

"I object, your honor. Despite the character assassination being perpetrated against my client by opposing counsel, Dr. Landry is a respected physician not only in Llanview but also across the country. Where would he hide? I again request he be released on his own recognizance. We can always put an ankle monitor on Dr. Landry if Ms. Buchanan is so worried about him wandering off."

"While I don't want him to wander off, my first concern is for the safety of the community. The defendant is a sexual predator and should be treated as such. In these cases, the only way to keep the public safe is to have the defendant locked up."

"I object in the strongest possible terms, your honor. Nothing has been proven at this time and …"

"And that is a matter for a trial. These charges are disturbing, and I agree with Ms. Buchanan that I have to take into account the safety of the public. Bail is denied, and the defendant is remanded into custody." Judge Morrison rapped her gavel.

While Landry was hauled away by a court officer, Nora gathered her papers. Marissa, Lisa, and Bo released sighs of relief. The three could see the reporters present were chomping at the bit to question the district attorney.

"You should probably get out of here while the getting's good. Enjoy not being known while you can." Bo said.

"Good idea. We'll see you later. Don't forget that Vikki should be airing her interview shortly." Marissa said as she and Lisa slipped away.

Once they were outside, Marissa pulled out her cellphone to send texts to two very interested people in Pine Valley. The first went to Tessa and read, "Landry arrested and held without bail. Additional charges filed and more survivors coming forward. Lisa has video of his arrest and will send shortly. I'll call you later." Marissa knew they still had a long way to go, but the knowledge that Landry was behind bars might just give Tessa a little peace and aid her road to recovery.

Marissa's second text went to Bianca. It read the same, with the exception of a couple of added lines. "I miss you and the kids. I'll Skype you tonight. I love you."
