Chapter 7
Ingenium
DING!
Iida looks up when he hears the elevator. He looks around the common area, doing a head count before concluding that everyone is here including Mr. Aizawa. It seems they have a visitor. He wracks his mind trying to think is anyone ever says they are going to drop by but he comes up blank. So this is a surprise visit.
"Hello, everyone!"
He violently twitches in his seat around the low table. His friends don't seem to notice before at the same time they look up at the newcomer, confused yet curious who it is.
He already knows who it is without even looking.
"Iida, it's your brother!" Midoriya says to him, shaking him excitedly by the shoulder. His green haired friend is sparkling brightly, rivalling that of Aoyama. He couldn't blame him; Midoriya is a huge Hero fan, and his older brother just happens, or happened, to be the original Ingenium.
"Yo, it's Ingenium!"
"Iida's big bro?"
"It's Iida's big bro!"
He finally looks up to where his brother is at. Tensei has a huge smile on his face, giving everyone his proud salute as he is surrounded by his friends.
"Mr. Iida, what are you doing here?" he hears Midoriya excitedly asks.
"Please! Just call me Tensei. Mr. Iida is my father," his older brother replies bashfully. It's his usual reply whenever someone calls him Mr. Iida.
And he knows why Tensei is here.
He looks away from his brother and to the couch behind him.
Mr. Aizawa is pointedly not looking at Tensei.
"Hey, Shouta!"
He sees his teacher twitches slightly at Tensei's call. He looks at his brother who is wheeling himself closer to the couch. There is a giant smile on his face, one that has a lot more mischief than ever before.
Oh Tensei is very aware of what he is currently doing.
"Ingenium," Mr. Aizawa greets respectfully, putting down his papers to look at the former Hero. "Is there something you need of me?"
He could hear the slight strain in Mr. Aizawa's voice.
Tensei only smirks wider.
"When are you going to visit us again? Mother misses you, you know?" Tensei asks a little too loudly, an intentional on his part. Now Mr. Aizawa visibly flinches as his friends all gasp together. Instantly, the room explodes with questions, most coming from Midoriya.
"Mr- Uh… Tensei sir, you personally know Mr. Aizawa?!"
If Midoriya was not excited before, he is very excited now.
"Tensei," he hears Mr. Aizawa growls in displeasure, losing the formality now that the whole ordeal is out. His brother looks at his teacher with a cheeky smile. "I told you to not speak of that matter around the students."
"Eh, there's nothing wrong with that, right Tenya?" Tensei looks at him, giving him a wide smile.
"Keep me out of this, Big Bro," he mutters.
"Don't leave us out of this!" Uraraka interrupts. She turns towards him and he twitches at the fire in her eyes. "Tenya, when are you going to tell us your family knows Mr. Aizawa personally?"
The rest of his friends crowds around him. All are shining with questions in their eyes, even Todoroki looks interested.
"Wow, really, you two?" Tensei interrupts before he could not answer Uraraka's question. "You never really told everyone about our relationship? You hurt the Iida Family, y'know?" Tensei pouts but he knows him well to know there are no harm feelings.
"There is no need to share personal information with the students," Mr. Aizawa answers.
"Oh really? If I recall you had pretty much told to a room full of Heroes that "The A in class 1-A stands for Aizawa which means they are mine" and th-"
"They already know."
"T-They already know?" Tensei reels back, surprised. "Did your wife rat you out?"
So Tensei does know about Mr. Aizawa and Miruko. He tries not pout because his own brother is withholding information against him, feeling a little betrayed. But he guesses he could forgive him because this is Mr. Aizawa; he's a private person after all. So he could understand that.
"None of your business," Mr. Aizawa curtly answers.
"Iida!"
"Yeah?"
"What?"
He and Tensei look at Ashido at the same time who quickly realizes her mistake.
"Either one is fine!" She waves a hand dismissively, recovered quickly. "When are you going to tell us you guys know Mr. Aizawa personally?" she asks one more time.
"Oh we go way back," Tensei starts. He starts to see his friends immediately hang onto every word that is about to said. He notices Mr. Aizawa releases a sigh of resignation, knowing it is futile to stop now. "We had actually met during our years at UA. He and I bumped into each other at the doorway when he was transferred to 1-A."
"Are you not going to tell the tale of how you were knocked down?" Mr. Aizawa interrupts.
"We do not talk about that!" Tensei almost yells, turning his wheelchair to give a pointed finger at his teacher, surprising his friends. "We do not talk about that!"
"Uncle Shouta accidentally hit Big Bro in the crotch."
"Tenya!"
"Tenya."
His friends all gasp in shock as he immediately covers his mouth with his hands at the slipup.
"Uncle Shouta?!"
"DUDE THAT'S SO CUTE!"
"You call Mr. Aizawa Uncle Shouta?!"
He covers his face out of pure embarrassment. He had pride himself at his incredible control to not call Uncle Shouta as such at school. For him to suddenly lose it is a massive embarrassment with collateral damage and said damage is Uncle Shouta.
He looks up and beyond his friends who are surrounding him, who are all with sparkling mirthful eyes, and towards Tensei and Uncle Shouta. Tensei is snickering and Uncle Shouta looks exasperated. He guesses Tensei has gotten let off by his own embarrassment at expense of his.
"Tenya, how long had you been calling Mr. Aizawa as Uncle Shouta?!"
"You need to call him like that from now on!"
"Dude! Imagine him calling Mr. Aizawa as Uncle Shouta during class!"
"That'd be so hilarious!"
The day is ending but the remaining is going to be so long.
.
"Shouta was the only babysitter Tenya was very comfortable with, and he was one of the few who can calm down baby Tenya! And you know what the worst part is?"
"Tell us!"
"Stop stalling!"
"Please!"
"Shouta had admitted that he treated baby Tenya like a kitten because that was his only experience. Can you believe that?! He used an animal as a reference to care for a child!"
"I'm right here, Tensei."
Uncle Shouta's words immediately get drown out by the massive round of laughter from his friends. Uncle Shouta immediately slaps a hand onto his face for the many times since Tensei had arrived. He sympathize his teacher because he is also on the same boat.
Uncle Shouta had tried to threaten Tensei but his older brother knows him very well that his threats mean nothing and they slid off of him like butter. His teacher soon gave up and begrudgingly resigned to his misfortune, though he could see Uncle Shouta's patience is wearing thin.
"There was this one time when Shouta almost dropped toddler Tenya on his head," Tensei quickly continues as soon as the laughter dies down, but they quickly replaced with a resounding sound of guffaws along with Tensei's snickers. "Don't worry, Tenya was unharmed. Shouta felt so bad that he let Tenya slept with him in his sleeping bag as an apology. I even have pictures!"
"WHAT!"
"NO WAY!"
"SHOW US!"
He knows Tensei is tormenting Uncle Shouta with the entire info dump. His older brother really likes riling up Uncle Shouta, a trait he realized really early on that Tensei, Yamada and Kayama had shared. They love putting Uncle Shouta in misery.
He glances at Uncle Shouta again.
His teacher is narrowing his eyes at Tensei and… he has that creepy smirk on his lips that he is still not used to despite growing up seeing it. He knows what that means.
Uncle Shouta has revenge up his sleeve.
He gulps.
This would not mean good news for Tensei.
"You wanna know something, Tensei?" Uncle Shouta casually starts. All noise quickly dies down and all eyes instantly draw to the homeroom teacher. Tensei, still full of himself, doesn't even bother to turn to face Uncle Shouta, merely glances at him.
"What?" Tensei yawns out.
"That wasn't his first walk."
He frowns, confused. He doesn't know what does Uncle Shouta means. Who's first walk?
But, somehow, that got a massive reaction from Tensei. His older brother is completely frozen, rigid in his wheelchair with his eyes completely wide as dinner plates. Then, he slowly turns his head towards Uncle Shouta.
"…No…" He could barely hear Tensei's word and he is further more confused at the tone of disbelief. Even his friends are just as confused as him.
"Yes," Uncle Shouta replies. Tensei slowly shakes his head.
"Don't lie to me, Shouta, please tell me it is a lie," Tensei says. His voice is now mixed with disbelief and desperation.
Uncle Shouta only grins wide.
"No!" Tensei yells for the first time since he got here, surprising everyone at the sudden loud voice except for Uncle Shouta, who only grins wider.
"No one was around except for me when it happened."
"You're lying!"
"You were not the first person he walked to."
"NO!"
"I was."
"NOOO!"
.
"Unc- Uh… Mr. Aizawa?"
He ignores the snickers behind him at his slipup as Uncle- Mr. Aizawa turns away from the laptop screen and looks up to him.
"What is it, Iida?" Mr. Aizawa asks as he takes off his reading glasses. He takes in a deep breath before releasing it and lets his body sags.
"Mother wasn't very happy with what you did a while ago," he says, dropping the formality, because the topic is not between a student and his teacher but between two family members (yes, the Iida had considered Uncle Shouta as family).
"I'll drop by for dinner tonight as an apology," Uncle Shouta replies remorsefully, though he notices the twitching of his lips, barely holding back the smirk. "It has been a while since I visit your family after all."
"I'll be sure to tell them beforehand," he says with a nod. He's looking forward to return home tonight, and with Uncle Shouta too.
"How's Tensei doing?"
He releases a heavier sigh this time, going as far as rubbing his forehead (a rarely occurring trait he thinks he picked up from Uncle Shouta). Uncle Shouta doesn't even bother to hold in his smirk.
"Tensei hadn't left his room since you broke the news. That was mean of you, Uncle Shouta."
"He got it all coming," Uncle Shouta replies casually.
"Is it true?" he asks. Uncle Shouta raises an eyebrow, a silent gesture to clarify his question. "That it was not Big Bro who was the first?"
"Take it as you want it."
"That's not a no."
"It's not a yes either." Uncle Shouta then dons his glasses once more before turning to his laptop. "We'll be leaving in a few hours."
"Alright," he sighs in defeat, clearly not getting a clear answer.
He turns away from his teacher and returns to his friends. All of them has too wide smile on their lips. He guesses they are trying to be polite but can't help but laugh at the nickname he has for their teacher. He releases a defeated sigh and immediately everyone laughs.
"Sorry, Tenya," Midoriya starts with an apologetic smile. "But we still couldn't get over at the fact that you call Mr. Aizawa as Uncle Shouta."
"It's so weird!" Uraraka adds.
It has been a few days since the revelation (meaning it has been a few days since Tensei locked himself in his room and sulking the entire time) and everyone in his class is still trying to get their heads wrap around the fact that he is close to their teacher.
It's bothersome, really. They won't stop asking questions, a few too personal ones that he refused to answer. He knows they are not mean-spirited; they're just curious, so he is not offended in the slightest. Uncle Shouta had helped as well, keeping the revelation from spreading and stopping his classmates from asking too personal questions.
Still, he couldn't help but look forward to tonight. It'll the first in a long time since Uncle Shouta joins them for dinner.
Tensei wouldn't be happy about it though.
Then it dawns on him.
Uncle Shouta wants to go to dinner just to torment Tensei even more.
*Squints at calendar*
...Did I missed a day? What drug did I take for my mind to just go "you know what? fuxk this day, let's skip it"
Well, I guess the next chapter will be out tomorrow then as a compensation.
