Email Session 5

Manji Clan Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan…

About a week ago, Kunimitsu offered medical aid to Raven's commander and superior officer Master Raven. In a miraculous healing process, the vampire, Eliza managed to heal Master Raven back to complete health. With thanks, Master Raven departed the Manji Village and returned back to her job. Kunimitsu was still curious on how Eliza was able to heal Master Raven. She was told not to engage Eliza by both Ravens, but it was something Kunimitsu needed to know. Kunimitsu would summon Phoenix into her keep one day after she made up her mind.

Shinomatsu enters Kunimitsu's room…

Shinomatsu: "My lady your guest has arrived. Where shall you meet her?"

Kunimitsu (Putting on her kimono in the closet.): "We will talk in the council room. Send her there."

Shinomatsu: "Yes Lady Kunimitsu."

Inside the council room downstairs…

Kunimitsu: "Thank you for your patience Phoenix. I trust you did not have to wait too long for me."

Phoenix: "No it wasn't long. May I ask why did you want me to see you again so soon?"

Kunimitsu: "You get right to the point don't you?"

Phoenix: "It's a bad habit of mine. Sorry."

Kunimitsu: "Don't be. I called you here for a reason. It's about Eliza."

Phoenix (Nervous laugh.): "Oh. You don't say."

Kunimitsu: "Since I am not allowed to confront Eliza myself, which is ironic since I'm the leader of this place, you are the only one that can get close to Eliza without my husband's consent. Now I have a special mission that only you can pull off."

Phoenix: "A mission? But…you are not my leader."

Kunimitsu: "But you are staying here are you not? Your leader went off to fight. So I'm actually responsible for you, whether you like it or not. So you will do this or you can just leave now and fail your other mission by staying here. What will it be?"

Phoenix (Startled): "Ok ok! I can't compromise my other mission! So…what do you want me to do?"

Kunimitsu: "I need you to pretend to be injured. I need to see exactly how Eliza was able to heal your master. It doesn't matter if I'm there to see it in person, but I want a video of this act taking place."

Phoenix (Bewildered): "Are you serious?!"

Kunimitsu: "Very serious!"

Phoenix: "But why make me the guinea pig?"

Kunimitsu: "For starters, you can get close to the vampire, I cannot. Two, you are not Manji. And three, I'm simply curious."

Phoenix: "But…but I don't wanna die!"

Kunimitsu: "Your master did not die! You have nothing to fear if Eliza can heal you! Just cut your hand or something. I'm not asking you to get killed silly girl!"

Phoenix: "Well…since you put it that way. I guess I can do it. But I'm still scared!"

Kunimitsu (Infuriated): "Gaaah! Just do it! I'm giving you until sundown to complete this task! If not, then just get out of here! Don't come back again! Understand me!"

Phoenix: "I'll do it! I'll do it! Just a video right?"

Kunimitsu: "Yes. And do it in 720p resolution!"

Phoenix: "Understood!" (Runs out of the council room.)

Kunimitsu (After Phoenix runs off): "Now that this is over, I can go and check my emails again."

Back in her bedroom…

Kunimitsu spent the remainder of her day looking at the security of her village while answering fan mail.

Kunimitsu: "Let's see what the people have in mind today?"

Email #1: "Hey Kunimitsu! Where is Karasu? How is he doing?"

Kunimitsu: "My son is fine. He is with his caretaker at the moment. He's starting to speak more and more now. It's amazing how babies can grow so quickly."

Email #2: "Have you been keeping tabs on Yoshimitsu?"

Kunimitsu: "Honestly I have not. As long as he does not stick his nose back in this village and do harmful things then I will not spy on him. He can do whatever he wants just as long as it does not jeopardize our clan."

Email #3: "Say how often do ninjas have sex?"

Kunimitsu: "As much as any other person." (Rolls eyes.)

Email #4: "Somebody told me they spotted you and your husband in another town watching a movie, what was it?"

Kunimitsu: "It was a superhero film with some romance in it. I enjoyed it, but my husband slept on it. Oh well…we still had a nice time."

Email #5: "How long ago has it been since you left the Manji Village as a renegade outcast ninja? And when did the village take you back in?"

Kunimitsu: "I was an outcast for almost 19 years until about 3 years ago, I defeated Yoshimitsu in battle since his sword corrupted his soul. After that I returned to the village giving the grim news of our encounter. Thanks to my husband, I briefly got involved in the last King of Iron Fist Tournament and proved my worth in assisting the Rebel Forces against the Zaibatsu. From there the elders could see I changed my ways and they chose me as the leader of the clan. For that I will forever be grateful to my people here."

Email #6: "Are you friends with Master Raven? Have you met her before?"

Kunimitsu: "I met Master Raven right after our wedding thanks to my husband. We are not exactly friends though, it's complicated alright."

Email #7: "Where is your husband at the moment? I would like to have his autograph and yours."

Kunimitsu: "Raven is helping with the lumber guys in our wood shop. When he comes back, I can have him sign an autograph and give you mine too."

Email #8: "How much is a Manji mask?"

Kunimitsu: "Depends on what kind of mask you want. A regular one with paint will cost around 200 yen."

Email #9: "Why do you move around so much in your webcam videos?"

Kunimitsu: "Such insolence!" (Deletes email and blocks the guy.)

Email #10: "Are you good at fixing video game systems?"

Kunimitsu: "I have to get the necessary tools and materials to fix a console. Which one do you have?"

Email #11: "I keep hearing rumors about a vampire that was last seen in your village? Are you hiding this particular individual?"

Kunimitsu (Lying): "You must be hearing things. I do not keep mythical creatures, nor do my people."

Email #12: "Why do you have a short temper?"

Kunimitsu: "I do not have a short temper! I'm just a serious person. Don't like it! Too bad!"

Email #13: "Have you seen footage of Master Raven's fight with Kazumi yet?"

Kunimitsu: "No. I just patched her up when she lost to that Mishima woman. Master Raven left out last week. Didn't bother to see what happened in the fight."

Email #14: "That's a pretty black kimono you are wearing today."

Kunimitsu: "Oh thank you! It's a recent brand stolen from one of my young ninjas. I like it a lot."

Email #15: "Kunimitsu please take your mask off!"

Kunimitsu: "Uhhh…no. A ninja does not give their identity away so simply."

Email #16: "Are you retired for good from tournament fighting?"

Kunimitsu: "I kinda am. Unless my village is in dire need of help. Then I will step up to defend my people no matter what."

Email #17: "You are the greatest female ninja to ever live! Love you Kunimitsu!"

Kunimitsu: "Um thanks I guess."

Email #18: "Will Raven come back in the tournaments? He was cool to watch fight!"

Kunimitsu: "It's up to him. I will not stop Raven if he wishes to fight. He better not die on me and Karasu though. I would be devastated."

Email #19: "Are all Manji ninjas orphans?"

Kunimitsu: "No. Some of us have parents. Mine died as a child unfortunately."

Email #20: "What are you doing at this moment?"

Kunimitsu: "I'm overseeing the village through my security system cameras. After that I plan to speak with my husband about the work being done at the lumber factory. Then I'm off for the rest of the night."

Email #21: "Do you have a favorite song?"

Kunimitsu: "I have all kinds of favorite songs, don't have time to list them all."

Email #22: "Did you watch the new Dragonball Super movie?

Kunimitsu: "Huh? There's a new movie? I've been so busy I didn't bother to know about it. Is it any good?"

Email #23: "Are you gonna boil anymore people alive for disrespecting you?"

Kunimitsu: "Why ask? Do you wish to be my next victim?"

Later that day…

The day almost ended as the sun was going down. After speaking with Raven, he offered to go and pick up Karasu. Kunimitsu returned to the manor so she could be eager to find out about Eliza's abilities from Phoenix. Meanwhile, Kunimitsu prepared rice for dinner in her kitchen until one of the assistants alerted her that Phoenix finally showed up.

Shinomatsu: "My lady. Phoenix has returned! She is waiting for you at the front gate."

Kunimitsu: "Let her into the courtyard and I will be right there."

Shinomatsu: "Yes Lady Kunimitsu!"

At the manor courtyard…

Kunimitsu: "Phoenix! You made it out alive! Tell me! Were you able to tape the encounter with Eliza healing you?"

Phoenix (Gives her the smartphone.): "Hai Kunimitsu, but I don't want to go through that again!"

Kunimitsu: "Hmph." (Takes the smartphone.) "Now let's see. Where is the video on here?"

Phoenix (Still rubbing her hand.): "It's in the gallery section with my pictures."

Kunimitsu (Searching): "Ok I found it."

Kunimitsu's assistants could not help but feel curious as they leaned over their leader's shoulders to watch the video. Indeed Phoenix filmed Eliza with the smartphone. Phoenix leaned the phone at an angle so both she and Eliza could be seen together. Phoenix did cut herself with a knife on her hand. The scar on her left hand kept on bleeding as a result. Eliza looked at the wound with concern and surprise. Phoenix pleaded for Eliza to show the technique she did to heal wounds. The process was definitely not what Kunimitsu and her onlookers were expecting.

Kunimitsu: "WHAT IN THE WORLD?"

The assistants gasp at the footage…

Kunimitsu: "Did she really do this Phoenix?"

Phoenix: "Hai. She did."

Kunimitsu: "So that's how your master was able to walk completely healed and without side effects! Phoenix, I will need to take your phone so that I can save it into my hard drive. We cannot let anyone else know about Eliza's technique." (Looks at her subordinates.) "Do we all understand each other?"

Subordinates nod their heads in agreement as they departed…

Phoenix: "What are you planning Kunimitsu? I did what you said so I couldn't compromise my mission but please tell me!"

Kunimitsu (Looks at Phoenix.): "Not to worry my dear. I was simply curious as to why your master was able to walk out this village as if nothing had happened. But I should apologize for putting you through that crazy experience. Are you really okay?"

Phoenix: "Y…yeah. I'm good."

Kunimitsu: "We are having Shrimp Fried Rice for dinner. Why don't you come in and eat. Raven and Karasu will be here shortly. So what do you say?"

Phoenix: "Okay. I really appreciate it Kunimitsu."

Kunimitsu: "It's no problem." (Turns back for the manor.) "And again thank you for what you did with Eliza."

Eventually Raven and his son, Karasu returned home at the manor. After a satisfying meal, Phoenix went back for the guest hotel near the manor to rest. Later that night, Kunimitsu showed Raven the footage of Eliza's healing ritual to him. He could not believe his eyes either. It looked frightening in the beginning, but the fact that Eliza could heal human beings was something that totally shocked the Dark Talon of Death.

Raven: "So this is how my commander was able to bounce back from her defeat."

Kunimitsu: "Freaky isn't it dear?"

Raven: "Yeah…but we cannot let anyone else find out about this ability Eliza has. Think of what the Mishimas would do if either of them knew about Eliza's existence."

Kunimitsu: "They cannot find her living in my village. That much is certain."

Raven: "I do not know where else she could stay without raising suspicion."

Kunimitsu: "Ummm…maybe you can figure that out?"

Raven: "It's too risky Kunimitsu."

Kunimitsu: "Let's not rush it then. I'm sure your Master will not disapprove if we find another place to hide Eliza just in case something crazy happens here."

Raven: "I might have to talk with her about that."

Kunimitsu: "Yes. I think so. Well it's getting late." (Yawns heading for the bed.) "I'll keep the bed warm for you hubby!"

Raven (Still looks at the video without turning around.): "Gee thanks." (Thinks) "Hmmm…I wonder why Master never told me about this, and why would Kunimitsu force Phoenix to tape this ritual process? The more we keep Eliza hidden, the more we learn about her abilities. For better and for worse. I mean I promised Eliza I would take her to see that Monaco girl again soon. But I can't shake this bad premonition I keep having. Aah, screw it. Better go to sleep."
