Checking On Raven: Email Session 7
Back in the Manji Clan Manor, Manji Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan…
Kunimitsu (Sighs): "Well…it's been 3 days since Raven left. At this hour he might be asleep or in meditation. Either way I'm going to send him a message to call me. I need to be briefed on what's going on."
Message sent to Raven…
Kunimitsu: "Ok. Now to see if my boy is with his caretaker." (Looks at her GPS on her smartphone) "Yep…he is there alright. Now to see about what my citizens and fans wrote to me. As I wait for Raven to call back."
Email #1: "Lady Kunimitsu? Will there be any more invaders wanting to ransack and take over our village? Are you alright?"
Kunimitsu: "Yes, I am fine. Do not worry. The Manji Village will not see any more enemies for some time. Although I do not know the outcome of the Mishima fight just yet. So we should still remain vigilant."
Email #2: "My lady who is that man trapped in your cage by the underground cave? Is he responsible for sending Zaibatsu troops over here a few days ago?
Kunimitsu: "He is one of the Zaibatsu's scientists responsible for some of their technology. I will have him transported to the United Nations once my husband returns here. The UN will keep him in their watch. He's harmless without his machines, so trust me on this.
Email #3: "Lady Kunimitsu, some of the children wanted to meet that bear who came and warned us about the Zaibatsu. They heard he could understand human speech! Do you think he can come to our school and not harm anyone? What say you?"
Kunimitsu: "Kuma is back here. However, I do not know if he would want to meet kids. I will have one of my assistants ask him about talking to them. Something tells me he will not do it. I have a hunch."
Email #4: "I'm still waiting for that face reveal webcam sweetie!"
Kunimitsu: "Don't push your luck creep!"
Email #5: "Lady Kunimitsu when is the next exam for Jonin Ranks? I must know to be better prepared."
Kunimitsu: "The next Jonin Exam will begin in early December. Gematsu will over the see the exam preparations. Who is your trainer may I ask?"
Email #6: "My lady, do you like jewels, rings, or pearls? I wish to offer you a gift when you have your first wedding anniversary."
Kunimitsu: "Oh you do not have to offer me trinkets. Although I do like rings. Yes, our anniversary is coming soon, but there may not be one if my husband ever makes it back from Iraq. Again, thank you for the thought."
Email #7: "Kunimitsu thank you for fixing my Xbox! You seem to be better than most tech companies out here fixing hardware! You are awesome!"
Kunimitsu: "Oh you are welcome. I could not have done it without the proper tools at the trading post. We keep all of our parts of circuitry there."
Email #8: Lady Kunimitsu can you bless me with another one of your haikus please?"
Kunimitsu: "Certainly. A clear bright night time. A vast water glows at me. Because of the moon."
Email #9: "What was the big idea of the Zaibatsu bossing the Manji Clan around for?"
Kunimitsu: "It was Heihachi's doing. He still wants us to join his cause of world domination and subjugation. We follow our own path. No need to have overseers decide our fate."
Email #10: "I noticed the Shika Clan were no longer at the village in recent days. Did they assist you in the guerrilla raid my lady or did you have another falling out with your husband?"
Kunimitsu: "Yes the Shika Clan left to do their own work, but Raven left for Iraq because his master might be in some sort of danger. And no we did not have a fallout. I just wonder what he is doing at this hour."
Email #11: "Have your prepared the town's defense against the Zaibatsu in case they retaliate against us?"
Kunimitsu: "We will keep an eye on anything suspicious that happens outside our borders. Until the conclusion of the Mishima family fight, I doubt the Zaibatsu will execute a counter assault against us."
Email #12: "Lady Kunimitsu, we still need your response if you will be present for Elder Zuka's 95th birthday party."
Kunimitsu: "Oh right. Him. Let's see it's on a Sunday. Well…for now I will say yes unless Raven does not come back. That is my answer."
Email #13: "Whatever happened to those guys you boiled alive a few months ago my lady?"
Kunimitsu: "I sent them home. And they are banned from emailing me. Does that answer your question?"
Email #14: "Is it true that ninjas can sleep upside down?"
Kunimitsu: "No it's not. We only do that to our captured prisoners."
Email #15: "Who do think will win the fight between Heihachi and Kazuya?"
Kunimitsu: "It doesn't matter to me who wins. Both men are embodiments of evil! I will not side with either of them!"
Email #16: "Exactly how many ninja clans are there besides your own?"
Kunimitsu: "There are very few ninja left in this modern era. I know my clan is the largest in Japan. I heard rumors about a remote clan living in Aomori Prefecture but I think they are a very small group. And then there is my husband's clan and they are based in the West."
Email #17: "When did the vampire leave the village Kunimitsu? I did not think she was all that bad given her situation."
Kunimitsu: "She left out of the village about a month ago."
Email #18: "You need to tell us your measurements sooner or later?"
Kunimitsu: "And you better watch yourself, because I can punish you for being so lecherous!"
Email #19: "Report: The black tea boxes will arrive at the trading post tomorrow. They were delayed shipment because of a trucking accident in Nagoya."
Kunimitsu: "Oh. So that is why. I wonder if it was just a regular accident or an attack on the truck by the Tekken Force? Well, I'm happy the delivery will be here nonetheless."
Email #20: "You and your husband should do prank videos! I hear they are very popular these days!"
Kunimitsu: "Ehhh…I'm not sure. I do not believe my husband would like to be pranked."
Email #21: "How can you see through that small fox mask?"
Kunimitsu: "I can see through it even though my vision is poor. I rely more on my ears and nose to sense things."
Email #22: "Hey why don't you use a regular sword instead of a knife?"
Kunimitsu: "I use a ninjatou blade. It's bigger than a knife. And a regular sword can sometimes get noticed by an expert ninja. Ninja who use katanas or broadswords generally do not go all stealth in their missions. They act more like Samurai.
Email #23: "Lady Kunimitsu, I am worried that the Zaibatsu could attack our village after you successfully led the clan to raid one of their bases. Are you sure they won't seek revenge?"
Kunimitsu: "We will always keep watch of our village in case they do try. But we are the least of their worries at this point in time."
Email #24: "I'm surprised Yoshimitsu has yet to reappear at the village in a time like this. I wonder, do you know where he could be?"
Kunimitsu: "I rather he not return here. The only reason he would is to challenge me again for the ownership of the clan. At least I think so."
Email #25: "Is it true that anyone can live in your village?"
Kunimitsu: "Under certain conditions. Like obtaining refugee status or if not, you swear an oath to us to never reveal the location of our village. Refusing to obey this law is punishable by death."
Suddenly, Kunimitsu's phone buzzes…
Kunimitsu (Looks at it.): "Raven!" (Answers) "Hello?"
Raven: "Kunimitsu. Hey."
Kunimitsu: "Hey? You could be more caring dear. Like say 'Darling' or 'Hello love'! Now where are you?"
Raven: "Forgive me. I'm answering your text. Things have taken a strange twist over the past few days."
Kunimitsu: "I'm listening."
Raven: "Ok. When I first made it to Mosul I found my master, Eliza, Tweet, and Zafina all unconscious at the Ancient City of Niveneh."
Kunimitsu: "What? Did you say Zafina?"
Raven: "Yeah. She was there too. She was helping Tweet find the last key to gate of the Hyena's Gaze. But, Zafina has a curse placed upon her somehow. It has taken over her body and mind. I believe Zafina in her possessed state nearly killed Tweet. And then Master Raven and Eliza showed up later to combat Zafina only to all suffer injuries. Later, Lars and his Rebel Group came here right after I did. So I persuaded them to help give all of the women aid. Once my master and Tweet were back on their feet, they were successful in opening the gate and retrieving the Hyena's Gaze. However, around that same time, Zafina woke up from her coma and broke out of the tent she was recovering in. Now that Master Raven and Tweet are back in Iraq, we are currently getting ready to investigate her whereabouts."
Kunimitsu: "Raven…I…this is a lot of process. I mean…what happens if you find Zafina? Is she even human anymore?"
Raven: "I believe we can still save her. Especially now that the Hyena's Gaze is in our possession. It can purify living things. Once we find Zafina, we will use the weapon to cleanse her body and mind from the spell."
Kunimitsu: "You sure you all don't need my assistance? I know your Master can't be 100 percent well."
Raven: "I'm pretty sure we can do it as we are. Eliza just woke up, so we can use her skills too."
Kunimitsu: "Raven please be careful. I just had my clan assault a base owned by the Zaibatsu the other day."
Raven: "What? Why?"
Kunimitsu: "Because they would have attacked us, especially with Kuma running away from them. I do not suspect Heihachi will retaliate so soon. But I will have my village prepared for any outside attacks."
Raven: "You need to keep a close watch on Kuma. He could still be loyal to Heihachi, scouting your village for weaknesses in your defenses."
Kunimitsu: "That bear isn't that smart to do such a thing. And we always keep watch of him. Heck we were trying to find him a place to stay elsewhere in Japan so he won't keep bothering us. He's not threat. But husband please be safe in searching for Zafina. I love you."
Raven: "Love you too. Oh how is Karasu? Where is he?"
Kunimitsu: "He is in day care. He's doing fine besides having a little cold right before you left."
Raven: "Ok. Look I will definitely come back to see you both after I know Zafina is back to normal. Believe me."
Kunimitsu: "Alright Raven. Be safe."
Raven: "Understood. Raven out." (Hangs up.)
Kunimitsu pressed the hang up button only to have a teardrop fall on top on the screen. It had only been three days, but they felt more like three weeks. She was already missing his presence. If it weren't for Raven, Kunimitsu would have still been a thief and a renegade ninja trying to raise a son on her own. That life would have been difficult and hard. Kunimitsu was happy that she could reconcile with her clan and be able to stay with Raven despite the controversies such as Eliza being revealed as a living vampire. She missed that one moment with Raven back in Canada. Maybe when all the chaos calms down, they could go back to that quiet time again.
