YD chap 3-
The next month flew bye. His father had got him a magical tutor called Evelin de Mont. She taught him the most of the theory from the first few chapters of each book as well as practiced the beginner spells. She also gave him a book on vampiric skills that he was taught how to use. They both felt confident that he would succeed in school. He also managed to learn a bit about the founders from their portraits. They were cute and Godric tried to convince him of vampirism benefits. It worked a bit.
Now he was on the train, in a compartment of his own, reading a book on runes in Romanian. Turned out that his tutor though they were fundamental so got him started early, especially as vampires could use more runes (well they are ancient, they had a lot of time to collect them). His dragon basilisk cupcake and the shadow griffin Whitby were playing in his enchanted suitcase. His dad has only let him name cupcake cupcake after he reasoned the poisons of sugar. Whitby was for its irony with his family.
After they had a red headed boy came barging into his apartment. "Oi are you harry potter". A frustrated huff of no sounded from Vlad due to the interruption to his book. it may be a little bland but he was invested in it. "No need to be rude" and the red head left, forgetting to close the door properly. A little quick spell later and he was back in peace.
Well until a new group interrupted. The leader appeared to be a light blond with two lackeys. "what's your name" blondie asked, condescending all the way. "Vladimir Dracula" conveniently forgetting his titles. "You don't sound like a pureblood, foreigner, they let a mud blood foreigner into the school, this place has gone to the dogs."
"Actually, I am a pureblood if that is what matters to you most in life, but tell me what makes you think you have the right to judge that." He was pissed now. "Tch, I am a Malfoy I think you should be answering to me, lets go". He and his companions left leaving him moody and irate. It was not even lunch yet.
After a quick snooze only interrupted by the trolly lady and the intercom telling them they were arriving, Vlad changed into his school robes and departed, following the voice shouting for first years.
"First years, first years over here" a half-giant was shouting. He did not particularly mind giants but he did believe they got a bad rep compared to other creatures in the vampire community. They were instructed into the boats where he ended up with a boy named harry potter, who he knew was famous, the red head from earlier called Ron and a bushy haired girl called Hermione who sounded quite bossy. Overall, it was an interesting boat ride over the lake. The two had told him the squid was there to keep the local wildlife under control and save any unfortunate swimmers if they got into trouble. Apparently, a tradition was to feed it cod if you wanted to play games with him, but with his age it had to be stopped.
Seeing the castle was magical. It was impressive and beautiful, though not as good as the ones at home they were truly magnificent. It was a view that was hard to tire off and beat the description given to him by the founders. The towers twisted with the light making the view breath-taking.
Once they were unloaded from the votes, they got to enter their new school. In the anti-chamber the student started to whisper to those around them in excitement of the new school. This was going fine until the blond boy Malfoy went to potter with an arrogant step. "Oi, potter some of us are better than others. I can help you make better friends."
"No thank you, I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself". And did that get Malfoy mad. Luckily before they could get into a verbal fist fight ghosts came through the wall. They were quite impressive and somehow surprise that students had turned up. The ghosts in Romania were much better at keeping time. Several students screeched. It seemed louder than what he though normally. His senses seemed to be heightened. This was probably some of the changes that could be happening because of his magic. Fun.
Hushes befell the crowd when a professor in green came out. She had here hair in a bun, glasses on here nose, and wearing robes of emerald green. She had a stern look on her face. "While you are at Hogwarts your house will be your family. There are four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Now that we are ready for you, get into a line and follow me for your sorting."
Excited whispers befell the crowd while as they entered the great hall. The enchanted ceiling looked amazing and Vlad made a mental note to try copying it in his bedroom at some point. He did have a long time to try. Waking to that would be amazing. On a stall was placed a raggedy old hat which he knew was called Gwaine. Apparently, it was after a friend of a friend they named it after.
He belched out a song to the hall before the actual sorting began. Personally, Vlad thought Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff would be best for him, but the founders had noted Slytherin was a strong possibility. Also, his dad could not complain of the house as he was friends of the founders and at least met all.
The sorting had begun and Hannah Abbott started and was sorted into Hufflepuff. Susan bones followed her. A few later it was his. He had asked the school not to use his actual titles. this way he could make friends without having to get through the power hungry and also keep a surprise in his pocket for later.
"Dracula, Vladimir". It seemed only muggle born had even heard of the story, and even then, it was 2 higher year Ravenclaws. It was not surprising as Dracula was a key text for English literature at some Gcse schools, so most would not be concerned with it until about 15 when they could understand it, and most left muggle school education before they even properly started past texts. And even then most parents would not let their children watch the movie.
The hat was placed in his head when he sat on the stool. 'ahh, the heirs of two of the founders, interesting, so lets see loyalty, but only to those you seem concerned with, same with the bravery. Smart very smart and wants to learn, but its focused on vamp cure, and even then you may still change your opinion on that, well there is one you fit to a tee, Slytherin!'.
Some reluctant applause echoed around the great hall as Vlad went and joined his new house. He Sat with his fellow first years at the end. At the end of the sorting the Slytherin first years had been joined by several other people, including Malfoy and a boy who was at least trying to be pleasant called Theodore Nott.
The headmaster stood up and gave some notices. The general rules, intros, but then a corridor of death. He was avoiding the third-floor corridor even when he is dead so don't worry. He does not want to die a painful death even if he is a vampire.
The feast began and the rest of his year seemed to already know each other. They seemed to ignore him until after their catchup, then the questioning began. "So are you a pureblood" Blaise Zambini asked while the rest of the table looked at him. "Yes, I am a pureblood from Romania but we moved and just so happened to be in the catchment area." "we never heard of you before, we must have just missed you when we done east Europe". "You must have, you should be sounder as you never know what other places have to offer, or their people." The answers seemed to be putting the table at ease. Very few questions after that were asked, the rest just introduced themselves.
The end of the feast had arrived and they were getting up to go to their houses. Vlad had been kind of sad with the food. It was good, but fatty, sweet and very little vegetables. He found it hard to stomach much of it. But the necks of some of those around looked delicious. WHAT! What was that. He remembered what he read about his inheritance. If there was a blood mirror around before his inheritance, if it was in enough magic it could cause and inheritance, starting with the traits. Who put a blood mirror in a school?
He entered the lounge area, remembering the password, pureblood, and sat down on the floor with the other first years. He would need to tell his father about this, and potentially a teacher, great.
Thanks for reading. I have currently had a super busy schedule but I am going to try and get a few chapters up in the following month, though I doubt it. Hope your well and any suggestions of what you may want I can consider to write in.
