Chapter 5: Blood Moon pt 1
I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

It was late at night and so dark you would think the sky was a thick black blanket. A pair of young college students ran behind a tree. This night had been a date night, but quickly turned into a horror flick. The girl peered around the corner shaking as she gripped a hold of her boyfriend's shoulders. He gripped her shoulders just as tight, keeping her close.
"Jeffry, what do we do?" She asked. "What was that thing?"
Jeffry shook his head. "I…I don't know, Gerta. But…" He looked at her. "You need run and hide."
"Wha-what? No, I can't leave you!" Gerta yelped as a snarl echoed.
"No, listen. You've got to get to the police station. Get them to look for some weirdo." Jeffry told her, pushing her black hair a side. "Okay, just be safe, please."
Greta nodded but looked up into the tree. "I love you."
"I love you too." He kissed her forehead. "Now hide, please."
Gerta pulled away and climbed up the tree, getting herself hidden. Jeffry looked around the corner. He saw nothing but the darkness of the empty college campus. He swallowed as he felt himself break out in a fearful sweat. He could feel it roll down his back from his blond head. He picked up a fallen branch from the heavy winds of yesterday. It could hurt the creepy stalker.
He swallowed thickly as he rounded the corner, not realizing or knowing that his fear sweat was a dead giveaway to his opponent. As he gripped his branch club and looked around, he stood no chance as a dark shape rushed out from the shadows. The dark shape zeroed in on him. Its arm knocked the branch from Jeffry's hands and to the ground, making the young man stumble back.
Jeffry's eyes widened upon seeing what had attacked him. He barely had time to scream before its sharp shinning teeth sank into his flesh between his shoulder and neck.

Leon smiled as he and Kat stood on the street as Rose and Sherry ran up to a house's door. Rose was in a Gryffindor robe Kat had made from memory with a wand and pillowcase for a treat bag. Sherry was dressed up as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, leather suited her funnily enough, she carried a fake stake and her own pillowcase. Kat stood dressed up as a witch, black, purple, and green robes, black conical hat, and a black and purple broomstick. Leon hadn't dressed up as he really hadn't planned on it.
"You know, you put together their costumes and yours fairly quickly." Leon said as he nodded at the girls.
"Trick or Treat!" Sherry and Rose's voice drifted to them as the door that opened.
"I wanted them to have a damn good Halloween, despite what happened." Kat smiled sadly. "I'll do everything I can to make sure they both have the childhood they deserve."
Leon smiled at her as he put his hands into his jean pockets. "What's the plan for next year?"
"I'm hoping to nurture their geeky side and maybe it'll be superheroes. But if it's princesses, that'd be just fine." Kat smiled as two happy 'Thank you's!' were heard. "Why? Thinking of joining us as a knight or hero?"
He laughed. "Maybe just a little. If you guys will still have me. I don't have any nieces or nephews."
"Well, don't you worry, Leon. You'll always be welcome." She smiled.

"So, anything on your end? With Black Umbrella or that wand?" Leon asked as they looked over the papers from the given files.
Kat sighed rubbing her temples as she put her file down. "The wand had been found in a dig back in 1963. It went missing after a few diggers went missing and the chicken population grew in the area. It's been unaccounted for until now." She looked to the file with the image of the Black Umbrella logo. "And Black Umbrella, there might be a connection to a cruise liner, but we're not sure." She looked to Leon who had his brow raised.
"A cruise liner?" He asked unsure. "Do you have a name at all?"
Kat frowned and grabbed her file. "Um…Yeah…" Her eyes widened. "Hang on…" She jumped up and ran to one other boxes Lara had sent over of her sentimental things that she saved from Raccoon. "I know that name. I know it." She muttered then pulled out her journal. It was older than the one from Raccoon and less beat up. "Starlight. I know this…" She muttered as Leon looked at the file she'd put down. "There!" He jumped as she came back over. "Cruise Ship Starlight. It was a ship that is owned by Umbrella. There's a Bioweapon on board that can shapeshift, has green blood, and was sorta a Tyrant with T-virus. Barry shows up as back up. And there's…" She paused the strange excitement and joy dying down. "There's a little girl on board with a parasite in her chest. It allows her to sense the tyrant…" She read more of her old notes then looked slowly up at Leon with clear worry. "You got infected. Your blood turned green. You'll probably get cured with Daylight…but still." She looked back down at her journal.
Leon shook his head. "Not gonna happen." He stated determinedly, not liking Kat looking worried. "For one thing, we'll be there together since we've both the got the same ship in our files. We'll watch each other's backs." He grabbed her right hand on the journal. "I'll be fine, you'll be fine, and so will that little girl. We'll have back up." He tipped his head trying to look her in her eyes. "Okay? Look at me, Kat."
Kat looked at him still unsure.
"We'll be okay." He said keeping their eyes locked.
She slowly nodded. Something about the strength Leon had then, brought back her confidence. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right." She shook her head. "So…What else do you guys have?" She asked changing the subject.
He let go of her hand but felt a little reluctant to do so. "Well," He cleared his throat. "We've found an Island linked to Umbrella, but I've been assigned to look for Starlight."
Kat raise an eyebrow. "Sheena?"
Leon sighed. "How much have you got in there?" He asked looking at her with her journal.
"Um…a lot." Kat smiled nervously as she leafed through the pages. "Sheena Island…basically Raccoon city on an island, um there's some mistaken identity, two kids are involved, and the Island is where the Tyrants are made, and…Oh, are you friends or know any one named Ark Thomson?" She asked looking to Leon.
"Yeah actually. He was a good friend of mine from High school. He went to the academy before I did and graduated before me too. He's a private detective now." Leon frowned at her. "Why?"
"According to my notes…it was you that requested that he go and infiltrate the island." Kat told him looking back down. "He gets temporary Amnesia while there but gets his memories back by the end."
He frowned. "How bad dose that get? The Island?"
Kat looked up from her book. "Pretty bad. The only survivors being Ark and two kids." She told him.
He thought about it. If he followed what Kat was telling him, his friend would get hurt but save two kids from a horrific fate. If he didn't and left it alone, the kids could die. He thought about Sherry and Rose, sound asleep in their rooms downstairs and closed his eyes. He couldn't make the decision to leave it alone and he knew he and Kat still had to find Starlight. He lifted his head. "Looks like kid you remembered correctly."
Kat swallowed. "Yeah…she did, didn't she…" She muttered.
It was so hard to remember now, where her memories came from. Sure, she could remember the games, but how she encountered them was getting blurrier and blurrier. She couldn't remember her old life as much. Family, a friend, old loves. Her own face and name where practically gone. Had her name begun with a K, A, or R?
"Hey, Kat, you're zoning again." Leon told her pulling her from her empty looking stare.
She shook her head. "Sorry…"
"Outside of cases. Have you talked to someone yet? About the PTSD or the recording?" Leon asked closing the files.
Kat looked down at her files closing her eyes. "Not yet…But…I'm looking." She said to the PTSD thing. "I'll be speaking with someone at the university next month. The linguist has a pretty busy schedule."
He nodded. "Anything from Lara?"
"They got Sam and beat the Solarii. I'm hoping that we're done with the Solarii for good." Kat told him sounding hopeful.

"I still can't believe it." Said the blonde woman of the group. "Jeffry's dead. Sure, we went to his funeral, but…a closed casket…" She sighed gripping her school bag. "And that he was killed here, on campus. It's scary. Gerta said he was…he was ripped apart."
"It's weird they aren't talking about it in the papers. Or on TV or radio." Said the brunette.
"Dad said their keeping it out of the news to not case a panic. The more people who panic, the more they can't find his killer. Especially with how they've just dropped off the map." The blonde answered as the three sat down at a bench to study. "It's scary that he's still out there though."
"Robina, I really wouldn't believe anything Gerta said. She's clearly been traumatized." The brunette said with a shrug. "Besides, killings happen everywhere. Doesn't matter if it happened by a castle or not."
Robina shook her head and glared at the girl. "Just because you're from the famous New York in America, doesn't mean this isn't a big deal or scary. What if there is a crazy stalker on the campus?" She shuttered as she pulled out her trig textbook. "I'm taking the police's advice. I'm staying in at night. No more late-night studying. The second I see the sun set, I'm going home."
"You're ganna follow a curfew that is clearly redundant now? Really?" The brunette asked as she fixed her glasses, clearly annoyed. "I didn't choose to go to college in another country to have a bullshit curfew like as if I was ten years old. I didn't have one when I got to high school, I shouldn't have one now."
The boy in the group laughed and flexed his arms. "Don't you girls worry you're pretty little heads, I'll protect you like a knight." He boasted, making both girls giggle. "You can both stay at my place for your guaranteed safety."
"Yeah, right! Guaranteed!" Spectacles snorted covering her mouth.
"In your dreams, Milo!" Robina laughed tossing her head back. "I'd rather fight a bear while drunk."

Miley marched out the door and glared at the librarian. "Hey, I want my lucky pencil!"
"I'm sorry, miss, but it is getting late, and I've stayed open passed the curfew. You can retrieve it in the morning. Good night now." The woman then closed the door and locked it.
Miley fixed her glasses angrily and shook her head. "Fine, be afraid of a killer that's more than likely moved on to another town." She turned away and marched down the steps. "Weak willed wimps. God, why did I think this would be a good school."
She started heading in the direction of the school dorms that were on campus. They were maybe to blocks away from the school grounds. She sighed as she slowed her march to a normal walk. Looking around she could see the darkness around her. The campus had very few light posts and the only light was the moon, but even that wasn't much.
"Geez its dark…" She groaned, not knowing she was being followed. "This school is fucking cheap. They could spare some money to get more lights. My money could hel—"
The bushes near her rustled as a large figure stepped out of them. The figure was in the dark still and very tall, something glinted in the moonlight though. She dropped her books and bag in shock before glaring.
"Hey, that's not funny!" She yelled as she moved to pick up her books until she realized the figure wasn't holding anything shiny. She looked up at their head, she saw glowing red eyes. She stumbled back with wide eyes as the thing snarled at her. "What the hell!? What are you!?" She screamed.

Kat finished prepping the potatoes and got them soaking in ice water. She grabbed the carrot to start peeling them. The phone started ringing. Kat paused her peeling and looked to where her cell was located, but saw her girls were closer. "Rose, could you get that?"
"Okay!" Rose called as she ran from the room and to where Kat had left her cell phone. "Kathrine Warren's phone, this is Rose." She said smiling. "Okay! Mommy, it's for you!"
"Okay." Kat said. "Sherry, sweetie, could you finish peeling these?" She asked Sherry.
Sherry nodded. "Sure."
Kat then walked to Rose and took the phone. "Go help Sherry in the kitchen, there's another peeler in the third drawer."
"Okay!" Rose nodded and dashed for the kitchen.
Kat smiled, before putting the phone to her ear. "Hello. Kat speaking."
"We've got another possible mission for you." Nolan said.
Kat blinked. "Really? So soon after the last one? Is it about the apprentice's wand? Do we have a lead on that? Or is it for Black Umbrella?"
"The wand is still being looked into. At the moment we have no leads. However, an incident has occurred in Germany." Nolan explained.
"How long would this mission go for?" Kat asked worriedly, noting the distance.
"Could be a week or maybe four days." Nolan said.
"Okay…would I get home before the end of the month?" Kat asked. "I don't want to miss Sherry and Rose's first Thanksgiving in our new home."
"Should be able to take them out to pick out a nice fat turkey by the time you get back." Nolan assured.
"Okay. I'll be there. Just need to get my girls dinner and arrange for a babysitter." Kat informed. "I'll be there at 18:23, maybe earlier."
"Alright, Kat, see you then." Nolen said before hanging up.
Kat walked into the room and helped Sherry and Rose finish up prep. "I've got another mission to go on. So, I'll be calling a babysitter for you girls and ordering a couple of pizzas."
Rose and Sherry nodded. "Okay."
"Will you be here for Thanksgiving?" Sherry asked.
"Hopefully I will. If not, then Leon should be." Kat said.
"Okay." The two said nodding and lifting pinkies.
Kat smiled lifting both hers and hooking them with theirs. "I swear."

"Good evening, Agent Warren." Nolen greeted.
"Good evening, sir." Kat nodded as she looked to the other people in the room.
There were two. An older man and a young woman. The man appeared to be in his late thirties and the woman early twenties.
"I'd like to introduce you to, Agents Reinhart Pawlitzki and Luella Stark." Nolan introduced. "They are of the German branch of S.P.E.L.L. They have brought this mission to us as two of the most resent victims were American citizens."
"I see, what is the mission and what has happened for it to be a mission?" Kat asked.
"Back on the 3rd of last month, Jeffry Roe was killed on the grounds of Pyran Collage. His girlfriend, Gerta Mein, was the only witness. The police wrote her report but didn't believe her." Nolen said gesturing to the file before Kat, who was already reading through it. "The autopsy report for Jeffry's body is very gruesome. It was as if he were attacked by an intelligent animal."
Kat swallowed as she looked at the images of the poor man's body. Nolen wasn't kidding. He was barely recognizable. Many organs were missing it seemed. The most damage was the neck though.
"Gerta's eyewitness report said that the assailant was both man and creature." Nolen continued. "Then today, Miley Ashworth was killed in a similar fashion. As I'm sure you can see, her left arm was severed, her neck in shreds, and she too had missing organs. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you wish to look at it, there were no witnesses to her attack and death."
"The mission is to have you and Agent Stark go undercover as students at the collage. You'll act as transfers; I will be you're back up contact." Agent Pawlitzki informed with a thick germen accent. "The pair of you will wear inner ear receivers and necklaces that will allow the three of us to remain in contact. Neither of you can let the students or teachers know that the pair of you are with S.P.E.L.L."
Kat nodded along with Luella. "Understood."
"You'll both be taking different flights. Kat, your flight is in four hours. Luella, yours is in five." Nolen informed. "Your tickets and gear are in your files. Dismissed."

Kat continued packing and zipped her bag as she finished telling Leon that she was on a mission.
"Germany? Damn. Already going international huh?" Leon said over the phone.
"Yeah, so if it's not too much trouble, could you check in on the girls for me? I'll have a babysitter from the Agency, but well I worry." Kat told him as she slung her bag on to her shoulder.
"Yeah, I'll check in on them if I don't have a mission or anything. How long will you be gone for? Do you know?" Leon asked as he looked over more files.
"Not sure. They said it could be a week or a few days." Kat said sighing. "Can't really say anything else. Not unless it ends up having to deal with Black Umbrella."
"No, I get it Kat. It'd be the same thing with me." Leon agreed. "Good luck."
"Thanks." Kat smiled. "See you later."
"See you." Leon agreed.
Country: Germany, State: Erft, City: Bedburg, Place: Pyran Collage, Area: Lecture Hall, Month: November, Day: Wednesday 4th, Year: 1998, Time: 11:34 CEST…
Kat and Luella sat in the hall, listening, and taking notes on the students in the room. They had already guessed it had to be a student or teacher that was responsible. But as they sat there, Kat found her mind wondering to what they were looking for. It had to be a werewolf; the two victims were torn up so horribly, that it is the only thing it could be.
"Are you okay, Robina?" Asked a young guy.
Kat looked to him through the corner of her eyes. He appeared to be younger than she, leaving his teen years behind by maybe 2 or 3 years. He was looking to a blonde girl who looked around the same age as Kat. She looked to have been crying.
"She was so tough; she was so smart too. Why her?" Robina asked in a hushed whisper. "Why didn't Miley just go home?"
"I'm sure she thought she'd be fine." The boy said gently.
Kat looked back at her notes. The question was should they question the pair or should they hold off and tail them. It was Kat's first undercover mission, and she was suddenly struck with the fact that she had no idea what to do. Her eyes widened in a bit of panic. If she was in another survival scenario, she'd be just fine. Rescue mission, again she would be fine. Undercover? What the hell was she supposed to do? Sure, she could act, but well this was different from other times. Now she had to act normal.
She swallowed. How was she supposed to act? The last time she was this age…She closed her eyes as she gripped her pen tightly. How did she act last time she was 22? She couldn't remember. It was gone, and the harder she thought about it, the more she just saw metal glinting, smell ale, hear cheers or—
"Kathrine, are you alright?" Luella asked tipping her head at her.
Kat opened her eyes and looked around. "Um…" She realized she'd almost slipped into a flashback and rubbed at her nose bridge. "I don't…" She looked to Luella. "How do I act normal? For my age I mean."
Luella tipped her head. "What do you mean? Just be yourself and leave out what your job really is."
"Yes, but most people my age don't have kids…How do I act like I'm carefree and have nothing adult to worry about?" Kat reiterated.
Luella tipped her head thinking. "Would you like to pretend to be my girlfriend?"
Kat stiffened up. "Huh?"
"People would try to ignore couples and not pay attention. Not only that, but a couple questioning a couple for safety reasons wouldn't be out of the ordinary." Luella explained. "So, what do you think? Can you act like you like me?"
Kat looked Luella over. Luella had long brown hair, that had a hint of red to it. Her skin was lightly tanned from sunlight. Her eyes where a lovely blue. Body wise, she was fit like a swimmer. Kat bit her lip looking around seeing that yes, people were peeking at them, as they were new students. She looked back at Luella, putting on a sly smile.
"You're pretty close to my type, Lu." Kat then took her hand and kissed her knuckles lightly.
Luella smirked. "This should work out swimmingly then."
Country: Germany, State: Erft, City: Bedburg, Place: Pyran Collage, Area: Outside the Lecture Hall, Month: November, Day: Wednesday 4th, Year: 1998, Time: 11:54 CEST…
Kat and Luella walked out of the lecture hall, Luella leaning on Kat's arm as they did. They easily caught up with Robina and her friend as they left the building. As they went down the stairs something caught Kat's eye. She thought it might be like in the states when a teen died in a car crash, fellow students would put flowers, candles, and pictures at the spot. She took a step close to the mini shrine and saw something odd. "Lu, look at this."
Luella stopped and bent down to look. The shrine was in the shadows of the stairs and a tree so it was easily missed. There was a little statue of a three-bodied woman, there were three heads and under the robes you could see the shape of three bodies, each facing a different direction and three sets of bare feet. But it was just one robe they all seems to share. Around the ground were herbs, an ornate key, and a small torch. She looked up at Kat. "What is this?"
Kat squatted down to get a closer look at the shrine. "The statue is of Hecate. This is a later form of her as the triple Goddess. It is where we get the Maid, Mother, and Crone." She pointed to the herbs and the key and torch. "She is most often shown holding a pair of torches, a key, snakes or accompanied by dogs. She is variously associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, night, light, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery. Hecate was one of several deities worshipped in ancient Athens as a protector of the Oikos (household), alongside Zeus, Hestia, Hermes, and Apollo." She looked around the area and could see the grass looked flattened here more so than the rest of the lawns. "Someone has been coming to worship her. These herbs are fresh."
Luella nodded and looked around. No one seemed to be noticing them or watching them. "Who ever comes here is not here now." She nodded her head t the couple that were getting further away. "We better catch up if we want to talk to them."
The two quickened their pace and caught up to the two. "So, sorry, you two, but we couldn't help but overhear your conversation. But did you know the girl killed last night?" Luella asked kindly in a nervous tone.
"Who are you two?" Robina asked looking from Luella to Kat. "I've never seen either of you in my classes."
"Sorry. We just transferred here. I'm Lucy and this is my girlfriend, Kit." Luella said easily as if she and Kat really were a couple.
"I'm sorry, I'm just scared about these murders." Kat said digging deep mentally to look for an old fear to make the lie real. "Why didn't your friend follow the curfew?" She asked gripping to Luella's arm, giving the impression that Kat was the stronger of them.
"Miley came from the US. New York specifically." Robina informed sadly. "She didn't think anything could hurt her."
"Hey, Lucy, Kit, you two should take my advice." Milo said looking at the fake couple. "Go back to whatever school you came from. And if that's not possible, follow the curfew to the letter. Stay away from the library and café after dark. Okay?"
"Oh yeah, I'm scared of the dark, so I won't get caught dead out there." Kat stated shivering a little bit.
"Thanks for the information and advice. We'll definitely think about it." Luella nodded as she pulled on Kat's arm to lead her away. Once out of sight and ear shot Luella smirked just a little. "That was fairly well done, and you were worried about acting."
Kat looked down and away a bit. "Y-yeah, I haven't…well it's been two years since I last dated anyone. So, yeah."
Luella looked shocked. "What? Really? No man or woman waiting back home?"
Kat shook her head. "No. Just my daughters."
"Well, I can't believe you're single." Luella smiled, holding Kat's arm tighter. "You seem like you'd be a great girlfriend."
Kat smiled looking to Luella. "You think so? You don't think I'm out of practice?"
"Oh, maybe just a little. But I can help you out." Luella smiled slyly. "Want to have dinner with me after the mission?"
