Chapter 9: Entity of Peru Pt 1

I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

Professor Howard Swanson replayed the recording that was given to him. "Hmmm…" He hummed as he listened. "It's old. I'll say that." He informed the pair of agents in front of him. "Definitely in the northern Europe area. Norway, Denmark, Sweden. Around there."

"Do you know what was said?" Kat asked as she rolled her shoulders, wincing a bit at the bandages that pulled her skin.

"Not until I can find out what language it is." Professor Swanson side as he put the recorder down.

"Could it be Norse?" Leon asked, thinking about what Kat said about the word 'Einherjar'.

"Now that you say it, that is a possibility. I'll look into it. But it will take time." Swanson said.

"Will you call me if you find out and what the translations are?" Kat asked.

"I can do that. You've given me quite the activity, Doctor Warren." Swanson smiled.

"It's Agent now, Professor." Kat told him with a smile. "But I appreciate hearing the title."

Country: America, State: Virginia, City: Arlington, Place: The Glasshouse, Area: left side of the dining room, Month: November, Day: Wednesday 18th, Year: 1998, Time: 18:13 EST…

The Glasshouse was a small quaint place for dinning. The thing that stuck out about this seafood place was the scenery of the inside and outside. Outside it had a pair of lovely stained-glass doors. The images of which were of sea waves and different saltwater fish. The outside of the building was small and looked like a greenhouse mixed with a boat house. Inside this first part of the restaurant was the hostess stand, some pictures of the owners and their family, and a ramp and stairs that went down a gentle incline.

At the bottom level, the dining room was about 6 tables long with one on each side of the room. The seating was small and intimate for a restaurant. It was best to make reservations to be sure you can get a table. The kitchen was located through a set of double doors in the back with large porthole windows so you can see some of the activity that goes into making your dish. The dining room walls from the bottom of the stairs to the doors to the kitchen were made of a curved acrylic glass, beyond was one of the largest salt-water tanks Kat had ever seen. The ceiling was bright blue with clear, blue, and green mason jars as light bulbs, they gave off a soft light that did not interfere with the bluish glow of the tanks. While you ate, you could watch the fish swimming around the living coral and sea grass that waved in the water. Each of the tables was a large piece of polished Driftwood.

"How many tattoos do you think you want?" Sherry asked as she looked over her coloring page at one of said tables.

"Not sure. I won't go over bord." Kat looked from Rose to Sherry. "But I'd like to get tattoos that represent you two. What would you like?"

"Um…" The two looked at each other unsure.

"Oh!" Sherry looked to her. "Maybe something to do with when we were born?"

Kat beamed. "That's what I was thinking to. Birth stones or flowers?"

"Both!" Sherry and Rose said.

"Although…" Sherry thought about it. "Maybe it'd be too cluttered?"

Rose thought about is as the Waitress came over.

"Can I take your order?" The young teen asked.

"Seafood-Stuffed Shells for me with a side of sauteed vegetables." Kat began as she looked to the waitress. "A salmon burger with battered fries for my oldest. And fish 'n chips for my youngest." She listed as she handed over their menus.

"Okay, would you guys like sauce with their fries?" The teen asked as she took the menus under her arm and wrote the orders down.

"Mustard and ketchup." Sherry said before taking a drink from her Fanta.

"Ketchup!" Rose called as she continued coloring.

"Okay, I'll be back with your food." The Waitress smiled before walking to the back.

"I think our birthstones would be better." Sherry said as she put her glass down.

"I think so too. Mine's Citrine, right?" Rose asked. "The goldish stone?"

Kat smiled nodding. "And because Sherry's in October, you can pick between Opel and Tourmaline."

"I like Opel." Sherry smiled. "It's really colorful."

Kat smiled. "That it is." She said as her phone rang. "Hey, Lara." She smiled as Sherry and Rose got back to their coloring.

"Hey, Kat. How are you doing?" Lara asked.

"Pretty good. The girls and I are settled in, and you can tell Sam to stop sending me dating profiles of men and women, I've found someone." Kat joked.

Lara laughed. "I'll be sure to let her know. However, I wanted to call and ask if you'd like to come with me, Sam, and Amanda to Peru for an expedition. It'd be for two weeks. Starting on the 23rd to the 6th of next month." Lara said with a smile that Kat could hear through the phone.

Peru rang something in Kat's head, but she didn't have her journal on her. "I'll have to call my bosses, but I think I could. Heck, if it's relaxed, I could probably bring the girls along."

Sherry and Rose perked up at that and looked up with big pleading eyes that made them look like Puss in Boots from the movie Shrek II.

"You could bring your new partner with you too." Lara teased. "It wouldn't happen to be a certain someone we discussed a while ago, would it?"

Kat laughed. "No, it's not him. Her name's Luella."

"Oh, damn and I was hoping to meet Leon." Lara snorted.

"Nope. He's waiting for Claire to get back." Kat told her.

"Oh…have you heard from her at all? It's been almost two months, hasn't it?" Lara asked the conversation turning serious.

"No. Nothing. I don't think she's picked up a burner." Kat told her.

"Have you told Chris?" Lara asked.

"I have. He won't tell me anything, but he knows Claire's looking for him." Kat said. "Man did I get chewed out for not keeping her out of things."

Lara snorted. "Sounds like an older brother alright. I'll let you go call your boss. Let me know after. I just need to know who all is going so I load the jet with the correct amount of supplies."

"Okay, I'll let you know. Bye."

"Bye." Lara replied before Kat hung up.

"What was that about?" Sherry asked.

"If I can get permission, how would you two like to go to a dig with me?" Kat asked them.

Rose and Sherry lit up with big smiles. "YES!" They turned to each other, gave a fist bump, and made explosion sounds as they pulled their hands apart wiggling their fingers like fire or smoke. Which made Kat smile and chuckle.

Country: America, State: Virginia, City: Arlington, Place: Meadow Brook, Area: Loft, Month: November, Day: Wednesday 18th, Year: 1998, Time: 19:30 EST…

Kat sighed as she hung up her phone. Nolan was going to call her in the morning with a decision of if she can go on the expedition. She looked over her journal on the TR timeline. Unlike RE, this one had less details. But a dig in Peru was listed. She looked to the stairs, thinking about her girls. Would it be a bad idea to bring them along? But she already told them about it. Both were so excited for a vacation.

She shook her head. As long as the girls stayed above ground, they would be fine. She picked up her phone as it rang. She didn't recognize the number.

"Hello?" She asked as she answered it.

"Can't talk for too long." Claire's voice rang through.

"Holy shit. Claire?" Kat asked sitting straighter. "Where are you? No, never mind. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good. Still looking. How's it going for you and Leon? Rose, Sherry?" Claire asked.

"We're good. We're all good. Safe. Well as safe as Leon and I can be with our jobs now." Kat smiled. "It's really good to hear from ya."

"Same. I've gotta go now." Claire said.

"Okay. See you…" Kat paused. "In December maybe. Careful, okay?"

"I will. Answer me this before I hang up. Why do you and Chris…no, why does everyone think I'm always getting into trouble?" Claire asked in a joking tone.

Kat laughed shaking her head. "Because you always do. It's like you've got the Redfield version of Parker luck."

Claire laughed. "Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence."

"Don't worry, Chris is right there with you." Kat snorted as she looked at her journal. "Good luck Claire."

"Thanks. See you." With that Claire hung up.

Kat smiled sadly then looked to her RE journal next to TR. "I'm so sorry, Claire." She then dialed Leon's number.

"Hey, Kat." Leon's voice came through, and it sounded tired and distracted, like he was busy, and his mind was somewhere else.

"Hey, so I might be taking the girls on a dig for two weeks." Kat told him as she tipped her head.

"And here I was hoping you'd be taking a vacation." Leon joked.

"It's sort of a vacation. That was part of the deal." She shrugged. "We'll be going to Peru and…Sadly it's got an entry in one of my journals."

Leon straitened. "Really?"

"Yeah. I'll be okay, though. The girls will stay above ground." Kat assured him. "So, will Luella."

"Ah I see. It's also going to double as a date as well as an adventure." Leon tried to joke. "But will this have anything to do with Umbrella or Trinity?"

"Not as far as I know. Just some magic entity bullshit." Kat told him. "Speaking of the two big bad's, we have anything on Starlight?"

"Not really. But we've narrowed it down to somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean." Leon paused. "Did I tell you the details of what the zombie's looked like or did I just say they were weird?"

Kat though about it. "You said they were greenish and green blood. Which confirmed that they had to be from Starlight. Then there was what one said to you which is still bone chilling. But that's it."

"I didn't mention the eyes?" Leon asked as he could've sworn he did.

"No…What was weird about their eyes?" Kat asked sitting straighter.

"They glowed blue. Like a weird jellyfish." Leon told her making her stiffen up. "Does that tell you anything?"

Kat's eyes widened. "Could…Could they use weapons?"

"Not that I saw. But anything's possible." Leon told her.

"Leon…I think Black Umbrella has somehow created an artificial Draugr." She said as, once again the accent came back for the word.

"A what?" Leon asked.

"A Draugr is a form of undead from Norse mythology. They are mostly ethereal and guard the tombs and resting places of warriors. They can have a solid body; this is when they can use weapons and they take the body of the dead. There are only two kinds of eye glows that they produce. Blue and white." Kat told him. "If Black Umbrella is making them…then they might be trying to have new hunters."

"I think you're right, but I don't think they realized they couldn't control them." Leon nodded.

"You can't control a Draugr unless you're a Necromancer and even then, it's very difficult. Its more than likely that the ones on the ship believe that the ship is the tomb they are protecting. Which won't be that far off." Kat told him.

"So, we need to be ready for them." Leon said. "That and a shapeshifting Tyrant. But I've noticed something."

"What?" Kat asked.

"I'm thinking it's Norse. Your accent you slip into, the language. Think about it. A creature from Norse mythology speaks in the same one and has the same accent." He explained making Kat's eyes widen. "What do you think?"

"I'm thinking about the pattern that's popping up. Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three's a pattern." Kat said unsure.

"Did you learn old Norse in school? Can you read it?" Leon asked her.

"I learned about it but…it's like there's a mental block on it." Kat said as she closed her eyes, trying to pull up some words. It was right there, but the harder she tried to remember, the more it would slip away.

"Heard anything from the professor? He'd be able to confirm this theory." He spoke.

"I haven't heard anything. He might still be looking into it. I'm guessing that you asking, means he hasn't called you." Kat said as she looked over her journals.

"He hasn't. But I get a feeling he'll tell us it's some form of Norse." Leon said as the sound of papers shifting filtered through the phone.

"I think we should trust our gut on that then." Kat agreed now thinking about the possibility of slipping into and out of Norse. "I'll let you get back to work."

"Same. Night, Kat." Leon told her.

"Night, Leon."

Country: America, State: Virginia, City: Arlington, Place: Meadow Brook, Area: Loft, Month: November, Day: Friday 20th, Year: 1998, Time: 07:00 EST…

The night before Kat helped the girls pack small rolling carry-on bags and their backpacks for the flight. She made them each put a change of clothes in their backpacks, and they frowned and asked why they had to do that, they had clothes in the suitcases.

"If you have a change of clothes in your backpacks, then you will have at least something clean to ware if your luggage gets lost. And," she held up a finger. "If you have the change of clothes in your carry-on, then your luggage will not get lost." She smiled and shrugged. "Any time I didn't have the change of clothes my bag got lost and I had to go buy clothes to ware until they found my bag. At the very least, change of under pants and socks."

The girls shrugged and took out one outfit from the suitcase and put it in their backpacks with books and a few games to play on the plane. She got them up early and since they packed and had the bags by the door, they just had to get dressed, grab the bags, and head out. They went through a Burger King to get orange juice and breakfast sandwiches to wolf down as they drove to the airport.

When they left the Long-Term Parking, Kat checked her phone and led the girls to a counter for personal planes that was set apart from the commercial air lines by a short hall. They checked in and the woman in the counter led them to a very plush waiting area where they were told that someone would come and get them when it was time to board the plane. Kat was hoping that Luella would already be there, she lived closer, but she was not in the waiting area.

Sherry and Rose went over to the wall of windows and looked out at all the commercial planes that were lines up far to the left of them. Sherry looked over her shoulder. "So, we are not going on a big plane?" She asked Kat.

Kat smiled. "Nope! Lara sent her private jet to come and get us."

Rose bounced on her toes and clapped. "You mean like the ones in the movies that super stars fly around in?"

Kat nodded and smiled. "We will be just like a famous star with the plane all to ourselves."

Sherry put on a very haughty attitude and a hand in the air. "My name is Sherry Birkin. No autographs please, I just want to rest." She walked to a chair and sat very prim and proper, giving her hair a little flick of her wrist.

Rose used the same voice and did a really bad impression of a model walking on the catwalk as she walked too a chair. "I just can't handle my fans right now." When she got to the chair though, she flopped down like the little kid she is and blew air out of her mouth to blow the hair out of her face that had flopped over when she sat.

Sherry and Kat broke into a fit of laughter at her flop. "You guys are so bad."

The girls got back up and went over to the windows wo look at all the planes again. "There are so many. Is that the airlines logo on the tail?" Rose asked?

Sherry nodded. "Yeah. Ummmm thinking of the commercials, I see Delta." She pointed to the Logo on a few. "I think next to them is American Airlines. I don't know what the ones with the globe design are." She looked over she shoulder again. "Mom, what airline has a globe on the tail?"

Kat had to think for a minute. "I think that is United. I didn't know they came to DC." She got up to come over and look. The plane was sitting apart from the others, and it looked like passengers were getting off and getting on some kind of bus. "Looks like the plane had some kind of trouble and had to land here." She looked back into the waiting area looking toward the door. She was starting to feel a bit worried. Maybe Luella changed her mind? Maybe she had said the wrong thing?

The girls looked at each other and shared a worried look. Kat turned back around to catch the look and put a hand on each of the girl's shoulder. "Don't worry. Lara's crew are top notch and they take very good care of the plane, triple check everything before takeoff."

About then the woman from the front walked in, followed by Luella. Kat smiled and hurried over to give her a hug.

"I should have left sooner, traffic was crazy!" Luella explained.

Kat sighed and said softly, "I was scared you were not coming, that maybe I did or said something wrong."

Luella put a hand to the side of Kat face and smiled. "Never. Your worried over nothing." She guided Kat back over to the windows to say hi to the girls.

About that time, they saw a smaller plane that was slowly pulling up to the area in front of their windows. Kat pointed to the tail of the plane. "That is the family crest. So that is our ride. They will fuel up first, then come and get us. Once the crew changes as well."

"The crew is going to change clothes?" Rose asked puzzled.

Kat shook her head. "No, they just flew a long way. So the pilots are going to get off here and rest and a new set will take us to Peru."

They all drifted back over to the chairs to sit and take out a book to read and wait. It was about thirty minutes later that a woman in a nice pants suit came in and ask them to follow her to the plane. She introduced her self as Martha and that she would be attending to them during the flight. Sherry and Rose started the really bad Catwalk again as they followed behind Martha and Kat. Luella let out a snort of laughter and covered it with a cough as she walked behind the girls. They stopped quickly when they saw Kat start to turn her head to look back at them to be sure they had everything.

Kat narrowed her eyes at them as they just looked like they were up to something, even Luella had a smile plastered on her face that was just a bit fake.

Soon as she turned back Rose looked over her shoulder and Luella gave her a wink.

Kat smiled as she caught sight of Lara, Sam, and Amanda. "Hey guys!" She called smiling as she stepped off the stairs of the private jet that picked her and the girls up in D.C. The sun was bright as it reflected off the white cement of the tarmac in front of the personal hanger of the Croft family. She slipped on some shades and turned to see if the girls needed help.

The three turned to see Kat with Sherry, Rose, and Luella. "Hey!"

The groups converged and hugs were exchanged until introductions were swapped.

"Guys, this is Luella, Rose, and Sherry." Kat said as she held her girls' shoulders.

Rose and Sherry were still bouncing with energy and the fun they had riding on a private jet for the first time. "The jet is so cool!" "Did you know the seats turn into beds?" "And there was a couch in the back with a huge movie screen!" They gushed at the same time making Lara smile at their chatter.

"Oh? A redhead?" Amanda asked looking to Luella. "And here I thought you had a thing for brunettes." She teased.

"Amanda…" Kat groaned as she covered Sherry and Rose's ears. "There are children present." She laughed as the girls rolled their eyes.

"I'm just teasing. But it really is nice to meet you. It's good to know Kat's back on the dating scene." Amanda smiled as she shook hands with Luella.

"It's lovely to meet Kat's friends. Let's me know just what else I'm getting into." Luella smiled leaning her head to Kat to kiss her cheek and making her blush.

"Come on, you'll have to meet Jason. He's the lead on this one." Sam said pointing to a man with dark blonde hair and wore a white tank shirt.

"Him and the rest of the team." Lara added as they all walked over. "Jason, Kat's here with her family. Is everyone else here?" Lara picked up two pith helmets and gave one to each of the girls so they could look like Archeologists from the 20's.

Kat smiled as the girls thanked Lara and put on the helmets.

Jason smiled turning to see the four new arrivals. "Yep." He looked around the gathered young adults. "Okay everyone, we're all together. I'm your lead, Jason…"
