Chapter 10: Entity of Peru Pt 2

I don't own anything. Resident Evil belongs to Capcom and Tomb Raider belongs to Core Design, Crystal Dynamics, and I think Square Enix. The only thing I own is the changes made to the stories of the Tomb Raider games/comics and Resident Evil games/comics/CG movies, the Government branch S.P.E.L.L., the person that has taken over Kathrine Warren's life, and Rose Warren. This story also will be bloody, violent, and have cursing. It's rated T for Teen.

Kat smiled as Sherry and Rose passed out in their bed, holding their stuffed animals in one arm, and holding their hands in the middle of the bed in a protective grip. She then looked over to Luella who was reading a book, reading glasses on as her eyes scanned over the pages.

"I'm sorry we're not getting much time to ourselves." Kat told her in a light whisper, as to not wake the girls.

Luella smiled as she pulled her gaze from the book. "It's okay, Kat." She said in just a light tone. "It's nice to meet your daughters. Get to know them. They are very entertaining."

Kat smiled. "It's nice of you to say. It's really good to hear that."

Luella smiled. "You seem so worried about me. Why?"

Kat sighed. "Like I said. I haven't been dating in a long time. I don't wanna mess up." She closed her eyes for a few moments. "I'm a bit broken, and not a lot of people would want to date someone with kids." She took Luella's hand. "I don't want you to feel obligated to anything. If you're uncomfortable at all, I'd want you to tell me."

Luella smiled and pulled Kat close for a light kiss. Their eyelashes brushing cheeks as they met. When they separated Luella's smile was wider as Kat sighed, feeling a bit tired from it, but in a good way.

"You don't need to worry. I'm not uncomfortable. And you shouldn't be either." Luella smiled as she closed her book on a folded corner. Then she moved over to hold Kat gently and stroke her back. She smiled softly as she felt Kat relax and a soft snore drifted up as Kat gave into sleep.

Kat laughed as she looked around for Rose and Sherry. "Where are you two?"

She heard the giggling from under a table. Kat rolled her eyes as she walked around near it.

"Well, I wonder where my girls are. Well, I know they can't be hiding." She teased as she got closer to the giggling table, seeing Sherry's back and hearing hushing sounds. "So, they must be on an Adventure!" She ducked under the table and pulled the two out.

The pair of kids squealed as Kat pulled them out and fell back. She let them tackle her as she tickled Sherry's stomach and Rose's neck under her chin. As they calmed down with Kat making childish growling noises, Luella came over and laughed at the sight. Kat, Sherry, and Rose were all dusty in their shorts and t-shirts, looking like they had gone through the plains area of Jurassic Park.

"Oh god, that is just adorable. I wish I had a camera." Luella smiled as the three huffed and panted from the laughter and merriment.

"Damn, I didn't bring one." Kat joked as she the girls stood up.

"Ladies! Get down here, you slackers!" Amanda called getting them all to look over. "Jason says we're about to break through!"

Lara looked over. "In a minute, Amanda!" She called looking over from some support structures. "We have some structural concerns…"

"I'll be down in a bit!" Kat called to her. "Lu, could you make sure Rose and Sherry don't go down there?" She asked her tone both playful and serious at the same time.

The three heard the tone and took different things from it. Sherry and Rose both hadn't heard Kat sound like that since the city and instantly calmed, ready to listen to her. Luella sensed something with the tone and looked to Sherry and Rose, seeing that they were watching Kat intently with hints of worry.

"Sure." Luella said looking from Kat to the kids.

"Ok." Kat nodded and looked to her daughters. "I want you both to stay with Luella, stay above ground. Okay?"

"What's going on?" Sherry asked.

Kat kneeled down and took Sherry and Rose's shoulders. "Something dangerous is down there, maybe. I'm going to try and stop it. I need you both to stay up here and not go down there. I'll know you're safe that way." Both nodded and put on their Pith helmets and gave her little salutes then a quick hug.

Lara landed in a crouch with a light hiss. The rope snapped as soon as she was halfway down it.

"Did the rope break?" Amanda asked from farther down the tunnel as Kat helped Lara stand.

"Yeah. I knew the pully was unstable." Lara groaned.

"You've got some flares, right?" Kat asked. "I don't see any lights on."

"Yeah…" Lara looked at Kat with a concerned look. Kat looked on edge. That same look as Yamatai, but more practiced. "What's going to happen, Kat?" She asked as she pulled a flare and struck the cap, lighting it.

"We're going to get attacked by an entity of some sort. The whole area floods. I just can't remember how that all happens." Kat told her as she pulled her own flare and lit it.

"How bad does it get?" Lara asked as they walked into the tunnel, lighting the walls whitish yellow.

"Bad." Kat said. "You and everyone above ground survive."

Lara swallowed. Not again. "What…We have to tell Amanda."

Kat nodded. "How though? I know she believed in the supernatural more then you before Yamatai…But—"

"She'll listen to me. Just tell her…you have visions, like you did the first time with me." Lara assured as they heard the sound of wood snapping and a yelp.

"The planks over the sinkhole broke, so you're gonna have to swing across!" Amanda called.

Lara and Kat got to the sinkhole and looked up. A single pole on the ceiling was there. Lara jumped up onto it and slowly crossed the hole my using the pole like monkey bars. Just one hand in front of the other, swinging her body in a pendulum like movement. As she dropped down on the other side, Kat jumped onto the pole next. Her climb was different. She planted her legs to the ceiling and sorta walked along the ceiling to the other side. She dropped down next to Lara with a cringe.

"Okay, I'm never climbing like that again. I felt like Adam West as Batman. Not cool or awesome." Kat groaned as Lara snorted with laugher.

"You didn't look like that." Lara assured.

"Maybe, but it felt like it." Kat said shuddering but smiling.

"Laraaaa! You're lagging!" Amanda teased as if she and Lara were kids again and playing tag on the school grounds.

Lara rolled her eyes. "You're such a tourist!" She called back in the same teasing manner as she and Kat got moving again.

Kat smiled at the two. "You two are—"

A scream rang out. It was loud and feminine. Kat and Lara rounded a corner just at the ceiling in front of them collapsed.

"Eva!" They heard Amana yell in shocked fear.

Kat and Lara coughed on the kicked-up dust form the collapse before rushing to the blocked pathway.

"What's happening?! Amanda!" Lara called hitting the rocks.

"Amanda! Hey!" Kat called, pressing her ear to the stones, as if it would help her hear Amanda.

"Can you hear us!?" Lara called leaning close. "Shit…We have to take the long way."

Kat nodded as they turned around and ran for the other path. "It's started."

Lara shook her head. "God damnit! Why can't I have a normal expedition, just once!?" She yelled as they turned a corner and found the limp form of Sarah. "Oh, Sarah…god, what's happening?"

Kat swallowed thickly as she walked over and nudged Sarah with her boot. No movement. She kneeled and slowly moved her axe point to the blonde girl's head, pushing her loose hair aside. Eyes wide open, sightless, pupils so dilated and devoid of life. Kat fought the urge to crack her axe into Sarah's head.

"Kat?" Lara asked as she saw the way Kat had checked over Sarah. "Is she…"

Kat nodded gripping her axe tighter. "She's gone…" She stood.

"Are you okay?" Lara asked.

"Just…I'm used to making sure something's dead." Kat admitted.

Lara swallowed. "I can't imagen what Raccoon was like if that's what you had to do."

"You really don't want to." Kat sighed as they came to a wall. Looking up they could see that it didn't reach the top of the tunnel. Kat pointed with her axe, "Might be a crawl space up there. Or it opens to the other side." She rolled her shoulders. "Climbing?"

Lara nodded as she pulled her axe. "Climbing."

The two climbed up, using hand holds and foot holds along with their axes. At the top, they saw a ledge with an open entrance in the old bricks. It looked like it had broken a part long ago. Lara was closest and after rocking her axe out of the wall, she swung jumped to the ledge. With all the things that had happened both on Yamatai and after, Lara's gymnastics skills had been getting better and better. Kat could see that in a few more years, Lara would be doing the flips and jumps she did in other games.

Laura felt something hit her boot and she looked down to see that when she landed she dislodged a small brick and under it was something darker than the sandy dirt. Reaching down she picked it up and dusted it off gently. Kat landed and stumbled into the wall as she landed.

"What is that?" She asked nodding to the object.

"It's a ceremonial knife called a Tumi. They were made of bronze, gold, silver, or copper and usually made of one piece. Its handle has a rectangular or trapezoidal shape, its length varies but it always exceeded the width of a hand. At the bottom there is a sharp semicircular blade. Tumis were used during ceremonies to sacrifice an animal to honor the God Inti. In the Inca period during the Inti Raymi celebrations they used a Tumi to sacrifice a black llama, its internal organs would be observed to foretell the future and later they were incinerated." She explained as they ran down the hallway.

At the end of the hall the space opened to a large room. Spears stuck out of the walls at odd layout. There was a large stone ball in the room and some large pressure plates.

"Gods…" Kat breathed at the architecture.

"Lara!? Kat?!"

The two turned to see a man behind a closed bared gate.

"Over here!" He called out waving them both over.

The two hurried over as he looked relieved. "Kent?" They asked.

"What's going on—"

"It killed Oscar!" Kent interrupted Lara.

"What did-?"

Kent shook his head clearly traumatized. "I don't know!" He yelled as he gripped the bars. "I don't know! I didn't see!" He pulled on the bars. "This gate won't budge! Get me out!" He shouted, clearly panic-stricken.

"Hey, it's okay. Just take a deep—"

"There's a hole above me. You have to get me out of here! Hurry!" Kent yelled at them, interrupting Kat this time. "We're got to get out of here!"

Kat and Lara turned from the gate. They looked at the walls and saw a way to climb up.

"Hey, I think I see a light!" Kent called as Kat and Lara got to climbing.

"Stay there, Kent – We're coming down!" Lara called as they reached a raised platform.

Lara jumped onto a rope and swung back and forth. Just as she jumped from the rope and gripped the upper ledge, they all heard it. A sort of roar that sounding far too echoey to be normal.

"It's coming!" Kent yelled looking back from the bars. "Damn it, guys!"

"We're almost there, just hold tight, we will be fast." Kat called as she jumped for the rope.

Kat swung back and forth and then leapt like Lara before her. She landed much better than she had on Yamatai and Raccoon. The rope climbing training was really paying off. Again, she felt this pull of old memories that bubble up when she needs them. She is getting better at pulling them up on command. How to grip the rope, how hard to swing her legs, the timing of when to let go, flexing her knees when she lands. The two then ran for the hallway and dropped down the open hole Kent had described.

Kent had stepped away from the gate and looked around confused and worried. "Amanda?" He called out unsure. "Amanda!" He called again, sounding more confident.

"Kent?!" Lara called as the pair joined him with ten feet separating them.

Kent turned around to look at the two. "It's her." He yelled then turned and ran away from them.

"Wait!" Kat yelled back moving to go after him.

"Kent!" Lara called out following and keeping pace with Kat.

They skidded to a stop as they saw Kent stop at a corner of the tunnel. He gasped and backed up lifting his hands in a defensive yet surrendering way. Then a collection of black and red smoke rushed him and grabbed him with cold claw-like hands. It was so fast it was hard to get any other details. The two just knew it lifted Kent and then they lost sight of him.

"KENT!" Lara yelled as they heard him scream.

His terrified screams cut off abruptly and brutally. They heard the sound of flesh ripping, the sound of his blood splashing down on the rocky floor, following by the sound of bones snapping. They both backed up slowly until the entity came into their sight again, this time giving them a horrified view.

The body appeared to be made of smoke with lightning crackling through it. It reminded them of embers cooling in an open fire, as wind blew and triggered the flickering orange light to ripple through the burnt logs.

The eyes glowed with a fuming orange color. Its arms were long and appeared to be made of armored bones. It had no distinct legs, just wisps of darkness that writhed and coiled along the ground. The size was the most terrifying thing though. It was nine or ten feet tall. Kat was struck by how it almost looked like an armored, glowing Dementor.

That was all they could take in, as it started to rush at them like a slithering snake. Arms outreaching as it slunk from side to side, the wisps of smoke gripping the ground in some way and propelling the figure forward.
