Summary:

What did Amanokawa Hiro miss during Clockmon's time skips?

"WHAT? Kotaro and I are boyfriends?" Hiro gasped.

"You haven't heard? It's all over the dorm, shishishi!" Jellymon giggled.

Clockmon had been tweaking Hiro's sense of time for days. Altering clocks and timers. Speeding time up. Slowing things down. Ringing his ears so he'd fray under lack of sleep and questioning his own sanity.

But the real surprise was waiting for Hiro after he and Gammamon set the Sewn-lip Man and his warped time straight, literally rewinding the hand on Clockmon's clock to keep Clockmon from withering away.

Time gradually caught up with Hiro, and he was now pounding on Kotaro's door for answers.

"How many nights did you go without sleep, exactly? You came to my room after lights out to say you were sorry again for being late and the limited colours were sold out! Don't you remember, Hiro?"

"Sorry." Hiro goggled down at his feet once again. "Can you please refresh my memory about what happened?"

"We were right here. You knocked. I asked you what you were still doing up. You apologized, said you had a lot going on, and asked me if there was anything you could do to make up for us missing the sale at the store earlier."

"You were upset." Hiro pieced together disorganized memories of the event he did not experience in real time.

"Uh huh. And then you started crying."

"Crying?"

"I figured since you were that tired. You were waking the others, so I took you back to your room."

"And we –?"

"I made sure you made it inside. You kept spinning around like you didn't know where you were!"

"So it's just rumours flying around! We aren't –!"

"Boyfriends? No, Hiro, we aren't. Though you did kiss me!"

"EH? When?"

"I wasn't sure if I should leave you or not, or alert Dorm Leader you seemed weird. You wouldn't go to bed, and when I pushed you to, you kissed me and claimed it was a goodnight kiss!"

"Oh god! I kissed you, Kotaro?"

"I didn't even – I always thought you were like me and liked girls!"

"I do!" Hiro emphasized.

"Hiro, I don't care if you do or don't. I'm only scared for you. Just tell me you're okay."

"I'm okay. Really! I'm okay now!"

"Really?"

"Yes, really!"

"Well good. At least, now that you're awake, we can decide what to do about these rumours! From where I'm standing, we have two options. We either prove to everybody I was just helping you to your room that night."

"Or?"

"We find out if that kiss was really a mistake!"

"Eh? Kotaro?"

"Wanna…Wanna kiss me goodnight tonight too, Hiro?"

"N-n-n-n-n-no!"

Kotaro ducked next to his ear. The unscarred one.

"Really?" he asked more softly.

Hiro stumbled. He didn't really know.

"It's all right if you're undecided. More research for the both of us."

"By research, you mean me kissing you again."

Kotaro merely shrugged.

"What about your reputation with girls?"

"Have you never watched TV before? Girls love having gay friends!"

"But you're not gay!"

"No, but why box yourself in?"

"You can't choose to suddenly be into guys, just like that!" Hiro snapped his fingers.

"Why not? Look, I'm not getting into a big discussion with you over whether we're born straight or born gay or whether it's a choice. My personal take on it is you're born one way, but if you're straight, that doesn't stop you from branching out. Like you did!"

"Did what?"

"You kissed me while you're straight."

"I don't know I'm straight, Kotaro!"

"There! You admitted it to yourself! That's progress, Hiro! I'm proud of you!"

Doors had begun creaking open, the rest of the dorm's residents peering through toward the two students who were the root of the disturbance.

"Can we not do this in the hall?"

Kotaro slid his elbow off the door, opening an aisle for Hiro to pass. "My room is always available to you, Hiro."

Entering, Hiro exhaled a long sigh and let a portion of the stress he'd held in escape the bottom of his slippers. Fortunately, Gammamon was in his room, and he wouldn't need to define any new concepts to him.

That would've been a conversation!

"Hiro, why are you touching lips?"

"Hiro, what's 'gay' mean?"

This is what tracking Hologram Ghosts – tracking Digimon – earned him. Thanks Dad!

"Hiro?" Kotaro pulled him back to reality.

"I'm sorry I kissed you, Kotaro."

"Sorry you did it?"

"No, I'm sorry I did it without asking first. Because of me, you're probably as all over the place as I am right now. And the worst is I don't remember doing it! Crap, these past few days have been a wreck!"

"A kiss goodnight might give you a good night's sleep."

"It didn't work last time. I didn't sleep that night."

"I slept like a baby!" Kotaro bragged. "Maybe it'll work this time?"

Hiro sucked all the moisture out of his mouth.

"Please, Hiro-sama?" Kotaro's voice reached its highest pitch.

"It's futile turning you down when you call me that, isn't it?"

"It's one of your finer attributes, Hiro-sama!" Kotaro joked.

He couldn't decline. He really couldn't. Hiro relied on his muscles to be his memory and kissed Kotaro, the stubborn stress depleting with his reluctance.

"Sooo?"

"Your theory won't remain a theory much longer, I predict. Was it this quick a move for you, Kotaro?"

"It was. Require more convincing? We have all night."

"Negative. I want to go to bed."

"Mine's free!"

Hiro didn't argue or bother changing. He slumped sideways onto the mattress. "I feel horrible I kept you standing in the cold for thirty minutes."

"Are you kidding? You being late was the best thing that's ever happened to me!"
