A/N: It's finally time for Jack and Sue's wedding!

The opening prayer for the wedding and the vows were adapted from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer.

It was after 9 o'clock on Thursday evening, and Jack was getting restless as he sat in Sue's crowded apartment, taking in all the commotion around him. Between their friends, his family and hers, at least sixteen people had been there at one time or another during the evening, having a good time as they got to know each other better.

He nodded to himself as he watched Sue's brother Bill joke around with Bobby. The two of them had been golfing partners that afternoon, and had gotten along famously. As a matter of fact, that was true for all of the people present, and Jack realized he was fortunate in that regard. Not everyone was blessed with having such pleasant relationships within their extended families. He liked his future in-laws and they liked him, and his parents were happy to welcome Sue as their daughter-in-law. Having everyone get along so well was great, and he could imagine many happy family reunions in the future…

...but at the moment, he had other things on his mind...such as receiving some personal attention from his beautiful fiancee'.

His parents had just left for the evening, so now he could make his move. Looking across the room, he caught Sue's eye and signed a short phrase on the sly. Much to his delight, she quickly nodded in agreement.

She smiled as she turned to her mother and sisters-in-law as they sat around the kitchen table. "We're going to take Levi for his evening walk. We'll only be gone for about twenty minutes or so." Seeing her mother's questioning expression, she shrugged. "We're going to the park down the street so he can get some exercise, but we'll be back soon. Please don't leave yet, Mom. There are still a few things I want to discuss about tomorrow's plans, okay?"

As she noticed Jack slipping into his jacket, Carla wore a knowing smile. "Okay. Take your time, Honey. I'll be here when you get back."

"Good." Sue found Levi's leash, and the dog trotted to the apartment's front door, wagging his tail happily as they got ready to leave. "Come on, buddy...let's take Jack for a walk…"

As they stepped out of the building and onto the sidewalk, Jack puffed out a sigh of relief. "Ahh...that's better." Scoffing, Sue raised an eyebrow at him, and he held up his hands in surrender. "Look...I love all of them, okay? I really do. Our friends are a lot of fun, and I'm thankful your folks and mine get along so well, but man...they are so noisy!"

"Oh? I hadn't noticed." She giggled as they strolled down the street towards the nearby park. "Imagine having them all together at our house..."

"I don't think that's happening until we get the new place built." Jack laughed as he took Sue's hand in his. "I think our 'cute little cottage' would probably burst at the seams with that many people inside."

She was quick to agree. "You may be right, but it might be fun to have everyone over before we build the new house. Maybe we could have a party out on the lawn, like a barbecue..."

"Hmm...maybe…if the weather's nice..."

Sue leaned against Jack as they walked along. "How was golf today?"

"It was kinda crazy, trying to get organized enough to play with so many guys on the course, but we had a lot of fun. Myles and D couldn't make it because they had to testify for the Brownell case, but Bobby was there, and he really enjoyed himself. He and Bill were partners, and they ended up having the best score out of all the groups...and I'll never hear the end of that, especially since my game was awful today." Smiling, he offered a little shrug. "I guess my mind was somewhere else, you know? Anyway, we had a good time..."

He raised an eyebrow at Sue as he continued in a teasing tone. "Later we had lunch at the club, and that was very enlightening. I got to hear all sorts of stories from your brothers about their darling baby sister. It seems you were quite the little scamp. They made it sound like you spent most of your childhood in the time out corner."

"What?" Sue laughed merrily. "No way. That's not true! I'm sure my mother will tell you that I was always a perfect angel as a child…"

"Yeah...right." Rolling his eyes, Jack grinned at her. "I'll remember to add that statement to the list when it comes time for your annual FBI lie detector test." Seeing her broad smile, he laughed as he rubbed her shoulder. "How was your day?"

"It was nice! Very relaxing." She held out her hand so he could inspect it. "See? We all had manicures…"

He grimaced slightly as he studied the finished product. "Um, very nice...but your nails look the same as they always do…"

"That's because it's a French manicure. I didn't want anything too flashy for the wedding. I want my ring to be the center of attention, since it's so pretty." Seeing that he was pleased with the comment, she admired the diamond solitaire. "It's exactly what I wanted, and you were so smart to figure out how to get it for me."

He gave her a bashful smile. "Well, you know…I'd do anything to make you happy, Sugar…"

"I'll remember that when it's my birthday." She giggled as he signed FINE BE THAT WAY. "After our visit to the spa, we had a nice lunch at a tea room...you know, with those cute little sandwiches and fancy desserts. Then later on, my mom took my nieces to a movie, and my sisters-in-law took me shopping, since they'd missed my wedding shower. We went to a store called Karine's..."

"Wait…" Tugging on her hand to get her attention, Jack looked at her in surprise. "You mean the store that sells all that sexy lingerie?"

She regarded him with suspicion. "How do you know what they sell at Karine's? Have you shopped there for some of your former girlfriends?"

"Oh...well…no...of course not...er...but...see, that shop is on a street near the Hoover...and sometimes Bobby and I go for lunch at a diner in that area, and you know...as a guy, I can say...you can't miss those displays in the window. Some of that stuff is pretty...daring...and you know...kinda...sexy...if you like that sort of thing. I mean...you know...it's...very...interesting stuff...and it sort of...inspires the imagination...in a way..." Deciding he might be getting himself into trouble, he exhaled slowly before venturing a question. "So...um...did you buy anything while you were there?"

She shrugged nonchalantly as she tugged on Levi's leash. "I didn't buy myself anything, but my sisters-in-law picked out a few things for me while we were there as kind of a late shower gift. Since they're married, they had lots of good ideas about what my future husband might like, so they offered their expertise..."

"They did? Oh…" His curiosity piqued, Jack decided it was time to investigate. "Care to tell me what they got for you?," he asked hopefully, licking his lips in anticipation. Seeing the stubborn tilt of her chin, he tried to cajole her. "Come on, Sue...just a little hint…please?"

"Nope." She laughed as he scowled in exasperation. "There will be plenty of time for show and tell while we're on our honeymoon…"

"Just one little hint...that's all I ask…" He flashed a dimpled grin. "...because you love me…"

"You're going to be hard to deal with around Christmas, aren't you?" Chuckling softly as he nagged her for details, she finally gave in. "Okay...one of the three items is white...one is black...and one is red."

He tapped his foot for a few seconds, waiting for more information. "That's it? Come on...please?"

"You said 'just one a little hint', so that's what I gave you." She smirked at him as she scratched Levi's ears, and then laughed at his frustrated expression. "Okay, here's another hint...you'll enjoy seeing me in those things...when the time comes."

"So all you can tell me is the color and that I'll like them. Come on, Sue…"

"Nope. You'll just have to use your imagination…"

Remembering his last trip past Karine's window display of skimpy lingerie, his imagination was already in overdrive as he pretended to glare at her. "That's no fun…," he groaned. "It'd be so much easier if you just told me…"

"Oh, I don't know...I think using your imagination can be lots of fun...and maybe it'll be even more fun when I tell you that all of these particular items fit into one very small gift bag." Seeing his startled reaction, she giggled again. "By the way, did you know that Karine's carries items for men as well? I mean, it's not lacy, but it's...well, exotic, I guess is the best word...like personal items in animal prints..."

His jaw dropped, and he stared at her in horror. "You didn't…"

"Who knows? Maybe I did. After all, why should you have all the fun? Maybe while we're on our honeymoon, I'll want to see you in some lingerie, too."

"Tell me you did not buy me something like that…" Jack felt himself blush as he tried to visualize what she might've purchased for him. "Not really…did you?"

She laughed loudly as he shook his finger at her. "I guess you'll have to wait and see…"

"Well, I'm not gonna have to wait too long, am I?" He put his arm around her and pulled her close. "Unless you want to go ahead and give me the scoop now…"

She giggled at his blatant attempt to pry some more information from her. "No way, buddy. I've had FBI training, so no matter how much you pester me with questions, I can withstand your charms." She grinned as his shoulders sagged a bit. "You'll just have to be patient."

"So my interrogation methods won't work on you, huh?" He wore a teasing grin before giving her a tender kiss. "I guess I'm gonna have to up my game. Maybe I need some more practice...maybe more canoodling will make you more willing to talk..."

"Hah...that's funny, Jack. I can just imagine you threatening to kiss a terrorist to get some answers…" They both laughed at the thought.

"So what are you doing tomorrow," she asked, in an attempt to change the subject. "We don't have to be at the church until 5:30…"

"Well…" Jack pointed to a park bench and they sat down. "Denise's transfer to DC was approved, so she and my mom are gonna go check out a couple of apartments while she's in town. I'm gonna take my dad to the Hoover so he can see what goes on there. He's an investigator, too, so he'll like that. We're all gonna get together for a family lunch, and then I'm gonna go back to the hotel and make sure my clothes are ready for Saturday morning and that my suitcases are packed...and then maybe take a nap. What about you?"

"It sounds like you'll be busy." Sue unfastened Levi's leash so he could run around the park for a few minutes. "My brothers are going to visit the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Seeing everything there will take most of the day. My dad and I are taking my nieces to the zoo in the morning and then out to lunch, and I guess my mom, my sisters-in-law, and Lucy are going to spend the day at the church to set things up for the wedding and reception. Mom said she didn't want my help at all. I think she wants it to be a surprise." Sue groaned softly. "I'm kind of worried about how she's going to decorate the chapel. I hope it's not too extreme. I didn't want anything fancy, but she has some big plans in mind. Who knows? There may be a thousand balloons, miles of shiny streamers hanging from the ceiling, tons of gaudy ribbon and glitter, a dozen dancing angels, and maybe even a fog machine by the time she's finished." She wrinkled her nose at Jack. "Hopefully, you won't be disappointed if it's not the simple wedding we'd originally planned..."

"It'll be fine." Seeing her surprise at his comment, Jack shrugged as he explained. "See, here's the thing. You're her only daughter, and I bet she's spent years planning your wedding, but now that the time has come, she hasn't really been able to be involved as much as she would've liked, since you two live so far apart, and it's not like she could come see you every weekend. I know you've kept in touch by phone as you made plans, but it's not the same as being here." As Sue nodded in understanding, he continued. "Decorating the church for the wedding and the reception is something she can do that makes her feel like she's an important part of your big day. It means a lot to her that she gets to do that for you, and it's gonna make her very happy, right?"

"Right…"

"So, she'll be happy, and that'll make you happy...and if you're happy, I'll be happy, too. It'll be fine, no matter what it looks like. Besides, Lucy's going to help, and she knows what you have in mind...she knows you want something 'simple and elegant'."

"Oh no! I forgot that Lucy's going to help!" Sue's eyes widened in mock horror. "Lucy loves big, fancy weddings! She'll be more prone to going overboard with glitzy stuff than my mom!"

"I'm not worried about any of that, as long as you show up at the church by eleven on Saturday morning, okay?" Jack grinned as he gently squeezed Sue's knee. "Just think...in less than 36 hours, we're gonna be married. You're actually gonna be my wife…and we'll live our lives together...and that thought makes me so happy…"

"I know...I'm so happy that you're going to be my husband, too." Sue sighed contentedly as she snuggled next to Jack. "I can't believe we're finally at this point in our lives after all this time..."

"Yeah...I know." He shook his head as he looked out over the park. "There for a while, I thought I'd lost you…and I almost gave up hope..." Smiling, he put his arm around her shoulders. "...but that's old news, isn't it? So, no more looking backwards, okay? From now on, we're gonna move forward...together."

"Exactly. We can do anything as long as we're together...and we will be from now on." She kissed him before rising from the bench and calling Levi. "But for now, it's time to head back…"

"Nah. I think we can stay out a little bit longer. What's that old saying? Five more minutes?" He grinned as he tugged on her hand. "I don't wanna go back yet…"

"Jack…" She chuckled as she patted his hand. "Be good! I need to go home…"

"Uh uh. You have to stay here on this bench with me…" He gave her a bit of a pout. "Please? I need some more sugar from my Sugar..."

Giggling, Sue pretended to glare at him. "I tell you what, Honey...in about 36 hours, I'll make arrangements to stay with you for the rest of our lives, but right now, I need to get back to my apartment so I can talk to my mom about a few things. It's getting late and she'll want to go home soon."

Huffing out an exaggerated sigh, he finally agreed. "Oh, okay. I'll walk you home, and then I'm gonna head over to the hotel, okay?"

"Okay." She smiled up at him as she fastened the leash to her dog's collar. "You know, we'll be able to take Levi for some nice long walks on our lot…"

"And then we'll be able to go home together...and I won't have to leave you. We'll be able to stay together all night long." Jack gave her a naughty wink. "I can live with that…"

"I hope so!"

They slowly walked back to her apartment, finally stopping outside the glass doors. As Jack caressed Sue's cheek, he smiled. "Okay, Sugar...I'll see you tomorrow evening…" He kissed her tenderly. "I love you…"

"I love you, too. Good night." She watched as he jogged towards his SUV, smiling in satisfaction as she stroked Levi's head. "I've been so blessed, Levi..."

Friday was a very busy day. In addition to the plans that Jack and Sue had made with their families, there were also reservations to confirm and final details to clear up before the big event on Saturday morning.

It was now 4:15, and after checking her reflection once more, Sue stepped into her apartment's living room to ask her roommate's opinion. "How do I look?"

Lucy beamed happily at her friend. "Gorgeous! I don't think Jack will be able to concentrate on what's going on at the rehearsal, because he'll be focused on you!"

"Do you think it's weird that I'm wearing this sleeveless black dress to the rehearsal dinner?" Sue did a model's twirl in the middle of the room. "Or should I wear something more colorful?"

"You're the bride to be, so you can wear whatever you want, okay? Besides, you look fabulous. Wearing your hair down is a good choice, too."

"Especially since Jack likes it this way." Sue pursed her lips slightly as she adjusted her earrings. "I told my mom that I'll be wearing my hair down for the wedding, and she doesn't think it'll look right with my veil, but...it's what I want to do, so..."

"Trust me...you're going to look beautiful!" Lucy pointed to the clock on the mantel. "I think we'd better leave so we won't get stuck in rush hour traffic."

"Good idea. I definitely don't want to be late!"

As they drove to the church, Lucy and Sue went over some last minute details to make sure they were on the same page.

"Jim said he'd take Levi to the kennel tomorrow after the reception…," Sue began. "My bags are packed, so after the wedding, Jack and I will come by the apartment, change clothes, and get my suitcases…"

"And have a bit of fun…," Lucy snickered.

Sue rolled her eyes at her friend's innuendo. "It depends on how much time we have. We'll need to hurry to the airport to catch our flight to Quebec City."

"Right." Lucy smirked at her friend. "I suppose that's the most important thing for newlyweds to consider."

"Anyway…" Chewing her lip slightly, Sue finally asked the question that was really on her mind. "Um...did my mom go crazy decorating the church?"

"I think you're going to be happy with it. She knew you wanted something simple, and with the chapel being so pretty, it didn't really need a lot of extra stuff. Now, the family life center...well, that's another story…"

"I guess that's okay. After all, we are having a party…" Fidgeting with the strap of her purse, Sue smiled at her friend. "Thanks for everything, Lucy. You've been a great wedding planner."

"You're welcome. It's been fun, and I can see myself offering to plan weddings for members of Henry's congregation, if they need help."

"You can definitely use me as a reference." As Lucy turned the car into the church's parking lot, Sue exhaled slowly. "Here we go. Things are about to get very real…"

Oooooooooo

Bobby was sitting with Sue's brother Paul in the chapel's front pew, chuckling as he watched Jack pace back and forth.

"Come on, Sparky...it's only 5:15, okay? You know she's not gonna be late. After all, for some reason she's crazy about you." Bobby laughed when he saw his friend's scowl. "You're gonna wear a hole in the carpet if you aren't careful. What's with the nerves, anyway? You're not having second thoughts, are ya?"

"Of course not! I'm just ready to get this show on the road." Jack stopped pacing long enough to shake a finger at his buddy. "Your day's coming, Crash. Someday soon it'll be time for you to get married, and you'll be nervous, too…"

Shaking his head, Bobby wore a wide grin. "Nah...I won't be nervous about getting married. You know stuff like that doesn't bother me...I don't get wound up easily. That's how come I get to work with the bomb squad, right? I let fidgety guys like you worry about all the mission details, and then I just show up and let people tell me what to do."

"Right. Whatever. I know better than that..." Rolling his eyes, Jack crossed his arms over his chest. "Anyway, it's not the getting married part that's bugging me...it's all the waiting around beforehand!" Seeing Bobby's smirk, Jack ran a hand over his face as he tried to explain. "Look, I guess I'm used to being in charge of things most of the time, but now I'm kinda at the mercy of Lucy and Sue's mother when it comes to all this wedding stuff, and those two women rule with iron fists!"

"You're scared of my mom?" Laughing out loud, Paul nodded. "Smart man! You do not want to cross her...she can be ferocious, especially if we're talking about Sue's wedding!" Seeing Jack's shoulders slump a bit, Paul rolled his eyes. "I'm kidding, okay? Besides, it's perfectly normal to be nervous when you're facing a huge life changing event..."

"Yeah, come on, mate...we're just yanking your chain, okay?" Bobby grinned as he sat back in the pew. "You're always like this before a big operation...you know, like if our unit is getting ready to take out an al Qaeda cell, you're always a bundle of nerves right before we handle the job. I'm just giving you a hard time about it…"

"Great...so now you're comparing my wedding to an FBI anti-terrorist operation…" Jack's complaint was interrupted by activity in the vestibule outside the chapel. "I guess they're here…"

Mrs. Thomas rushed to meet Sue as she arrived at the church. "Hello, Darling...my, don't you look lovely!"

"Thanks, Mom…" Entering the vestibule, Sue smiled as she pointed to some large white planters flanking the chapel's inner doors. "These are pretty. I like the mix of those brightly colored flowers with the greenery…"

"I like them, too. Those flowers pick up the colors in the chapel's stained glass windows...and we can donate the arrangements to the church if you don't have room for the planters at your new house." Mrs. Thomas nodded towards the sanctuary. "Let's go see the rest of it. I hope you like the way we've decorated inside…"

Sue forced a smile as she visualized an overly gaudy display. "I'm sure it's very nice…"

They entered the chapel, and Sue gasped in awe. "Oh, Mom…it's...it's...beautiful..."

Arranged in rows on either side of a center aisle, the dark brown pews sported large bows made of sheer white ribbon trimmed with silver edging. The same ribbon had been used to make the larger bows attached to tall silver floor candelabras that had been placed on either side of the altar table.

A white cloth, trimmed with silver edging, was draped over the table, and a matching white cloth was draped over the front of the pulpit. Two silver candlesticks had been placed on the table on either side of a large ornate silver cross. A larger silver vase and more candlesticks were situated on a shelf fastened to the back wall of the chapel under a large circular stained glass window, which depicted an abstract jewel-toned image of a descending dove.

"I'm putting a large floral arrangement there tomorrow morning. It'll be made up of tulips, stargazer lilies, hyacinths, and daffodils. I picked colors that will complement the window, since it's the focal point of the room.," Mrs. Thomas explained as she pointed at the shelf. "I know you didn't want to spend a lot of money on fresh flowers, but I thought it'd be nice to add a spot of color. Pastor Broussard said we can add some banners on either side of that big window if you want, but I don't think we need them." She hesitated slightly as she saw tears in Sue's eyes. "Oh, Honey...I hope you're not disappointed. I know you wanted something simple...and maybe the bows are too much..."

"Mom...I love it." Sniffling softly, Sue gave her mother a hug. "It's perfect...exactly what I wanted."

"Really?," Carla whispered.

"Yes, really! Remember when I sent you the pictures of the chapel? I said it was so pretty it didn't need much decorating..."

"And you were right, Darling...with all the beautiful stained glass, it just needed a few personal touches for your wedding. I'm so glad you're happy with it..." Brushing away a tear, Carla smiled. "Now, to be honest, we did get carried away decorating for the reception…but I couldn't resist..."

Sue laughed merrily. "I wouldn't expect anything less!"

Lucy had been anxious, hoping that her best friend was pleased with the chapel's decorations, but she relaxed when she saw how happy Sue was. Clearing her throat softly, she patted Sue's shoulder. "It looks like everyone's here, and based on how Henry's flapping his arms in front of the church, I think he's ready to start the rehearsal!"

"Oh my!" Sue exclaimed as she and her mother rushed down the aisle to take their seats. "I'm sorry…," she signed.

"No problem.," Henry laughed. "I just want to make sure I don't miss dinner!"

"Exactly!" Bobby gave the pastor a thumbs up. "Besides, my mate Jack is about to fly apart, so we best get going…"

"Right. Well, we're gonna keep this real casual, okay? You've all been to weddings, and you know what to expect for the most part, but there are a few logistics we need to discuss." Henry pointed at Jack. "You and your groomsmen will line up here, on my right…and John, you'll need to come stand by Jack for a few minutes as well."

The men quickly took their places. "Excellent. So, we'll have the prelude music going, and both Colette and Carla will be escorted to their seats by Sue's brothers. Meanwhile, Sue's nieces will be lighting the candles." He winked at the girls, who giggled in response. "Try not to set the chapel on fire, okay, ladies?"

Laughing, he turned to Sue, signing as he spoke. "Now, for the bride and bridesmaids...line up in the back of the church…that's good. So the processional starts, and one by one you walk in. Do you know what order to go in?" Seeing them nod, he continued. "So when one of you gets almost to the front of the church, the next one starts down the aisle. You'll line up on my left and then comes Sue and her dad...and Levi, of course."

When everyone was in place by the altar, Henry smiled. "Here's something important you need to know. The sign language interpreter will be standing in the pulpit most of the time, except when it's time for someone to do a reading. In that case, she'll step to one side, interpret what's being read, and then move back. Got it?"

Seeing everyone understood, he continued. "Good. So we're all standing here...I start us off with a prayer...we have some Scripture readings...Jack and Sue get to say something personal to each other...I give a short homily...we have vows and exchange rings...and then I pronounce you two as married, and you get to kiss each other. Wanna practice that kissing bit, or are you good?"

"You bet I want to practice!" Jack took Sue into his arms and kissed her passionately. Hearing everyone's laughter, he released her and then shrugged. "Okay, so maybe I'll dial it back a little for the wedding tomorrow…"

Smiling broadly, Dimitrius shook his head. "Sure you will…"

Rolling his eyes at the joke, Henry chuckled. "So...any questions? No? Good. The best man and the maid of honor need to make sure they know where the rings are before we start tomorrow, and Bobby, you need to make sure the marriage license makes it to the church in the morning. Our readers need to look over their passages before the wedding so they're familiar with them. Other than that, I think we're good to go." He grinned as he winked at Lucy. "Spaghetti time! See you all at Rigoletto's..."

Sue grinned happily at Jack as they got ready to leave. "That went well...and it was quick! Are you ready for dinner?"

"In a minute...I need to talk to Henry first." He walked over to where the pastor was standing, turning his back so that Sue couldn't read his lips. The men were then joined by the sign language interpreter and the worship leader, all of them standing in such a way so that Sue couldn't see what they were saying.

Curious about what they were discussing, she tried to move so she could see their lips, but they were aware of her efforts, and they turned away from her again. Finally, Jack nodded at Henry, and the group split up.

"Okay…" Jack took Sue's hand in his. "Let's go have dinner…"

"What were you and Henry talking about?"

"Oh, nothing…"

She narrowed her eyes at him. "It wasn't 'nothing'! You kept turning so I couldn't read your lips, so what are you hiding?"

He shrugged slightly. "It's a surprise. You'll find out tomorrow."

"A surprise? What kind of surprise?" She narrowed her eyes at him. "It's not a good idea to start out a marriage by keeping secrets from each other…"

"Well, if you can keep secrets about what kind of lingerie you have, I guess I can keep a wedding secret or two myself." Seeing her pout, he wore a mischievous grin. "Don't worry...you'll like it."

Huffing a sigh, she gave him a little 'we'll see' shrug. "You are a sly and devious man…"

Jack chuckled as he gave her a kiss. "And you wouldn't have it any other way…"

"True." Batting her eyelashes at him, she giggled. "Are you sure you can't tell me your secret?"

"Now who's being devious?" Seeing her impish grin, he shook his finger at her. "Just as I thought! Okay, now we're even, so let's go to dinner…"

The rehearsal dinner had been a great success, and the guests were chatting happily as the wait staff cleared the tables so dessert could be served.

"If I could have your attention…" John stood up and addressed the guests. "I want to say a few words…" Seeing Jack's grimace, he laughed. "Yeah, I know, son. When have I ever said 'just a few words'? Anyway…" He gestured towards Colette. "Jack's mom and I...along with Sue's parents...we want to say how happy we are that you're all here to help us celebrate as we prepare for Jack and Sue's wedding. It's great to see that our kids have such good friends, and we're so pleased that our families are going to be combined through their marriage. So…" He raised his glass towards the couple. "Here's to Jack and Sue."

The guests responded with enthusiasm. "To Jack and Sue!"

Caught off guard by his dad's heartfelt speech, Jack hesitated slightly before responding. As he rose from his seat, he glanced at Sue, and she nodded her encouragement. "Um...I don't really have a speech planned, but...Sue and I feel blessed to have the love and support of so many people as we begin our life together. We appreciate all of you. Thanks."

Feeling self-conscious, he quickly sat back down as the guests applauded. Leaning over, he patted Sue's hand. "How'd I do?"

"You were great!" Sue entwined her fingers with his. "I'm very proud of you."

"Thanks, Sugar. That means a lot to me." He brought her hand to his lips. "I love you so much…" He looked at his watch. "In about 15 hours, we'll be married…"

Sue caressed his cheek. "I can't wait!"

"Me, neither…"

The dinner was over, and Jack had driven Sue home. After parking his car, he walked her up to the building's front door. "You know, I probably won't have to do this again...drop you off here and then leave by myself…" He gazed affectionately into her eyes. "That's the only thing that makes leaving you bearable…knowing it won't happen again..."

"Jack, you know there are times when we'll be apart…" Sue smiled as he pulled her close. "...like when you go on a recruiting trip…"

"Yeah, but you'll be waiting for me at home when I get back, so that's different…"

She rolled her eyes at her silly fiance. "That doesn't make any sense…"

He gave her a kiss. "It does to me, and right now, that's all I care about…" Pushing a strand of hair behind her ear, he smiled. "It's getting late…"

"I know. I should go to bed, even though I might be too excited to sleep…"

"Yeah, I need to head for the hotel. So, I'm supposed to be at the church at 10?"

"That's what Lucy said. I guess you're supposed to have your picture taken before the wedding."

"Okay." Smiling tenderly, Jack embraced Sue. "I'll see you in the morning."

"Be careful going home."

"I will." He kissed her and signed I LOVE YOU. GOOD NIGHT.

"I love you, too. Good night."

April 30 had finally arrived as a bright, sunny morning. "A perfect day to get married!," Jack exclaimed as he entered the bedroom he'd been using in his parents' suite. As his stomach gurgled in response, he shook his head. "Maybe I shouldn't have eaten all those pancakes for breakfast. My stomach feels like I'm all tied up in knots! Jeez...I must be more nervous than I thought."

It was already 8:45...time to get dressed in his wedding clothes. He smiled as he took the French blue shirt from the closet and pulled it on. "Sue loves this color on me…"

Next came his suit, and a new blue and gray striped silk tie for a finishing touch. As he checked out his reflection in the dresser's mirror, he nodded as he admired his new charcoal gray jacket. "Not bad...but the knot on this tie looks really crooked. Maybe it's the stripes…" He loosened the tie and tied it again. "What is wrong with this thing? It's not like I never wear a tie..."

He fussed with it for several minutes until his dad knocked on the door. "Jack? Aren't you ready yet? Quit your primping and get out here, son...your mom wants to take some pictures."

"Okay...just a minute." Sighing in exasperation, he checked his hair and teeth again before grabbing his shoes. "Maybe Dad can help me…"

His mother squealed with delight when she saw him. "Oh, Jack...you look so handsome! Sue will be so pleased…"

"Except that I can't get this stupid tie to lie right…" Fidgeting with the knot, he groaned. "It looks like a little kid tied this thing…or maybe a chimpanzee..."

"Here...let your old man give it a shot." After a minute or two, John winked at his son. "There we go. I guess maybe somebody's nervous…"

Jack grinned sheepishly as he smoothed his tie. "Yeah...maybe a little…"

Colette quickly picked up her camera. "You look so much like your father, Jack. I want a picture of you standing next to him, and then one by yourself…"

"Mom, there's gonna be a photographer at the church to take pictures...that's why I've gotta be there by 10…"

"Hush now. I know I'll get some of the professional wedding pictures eventually, but this way I'll have something to show Mrs. Buford and everyone else when I get back to work Monday. Okay, smile…"

After what seemed like ages, Colette finally put her camera away, and Jack was anxious to leave. He tugged on his collar nervously. "I need to get going. I don't wanna be late..."

"Relax." John pointed at his watch. "It's only 9:15, okay?" Hearing Jack's frustrated grunt, he laughed. "Your mom and I need about five more minutes of your time, and then we'll let you go. Have a seat."

When Jack hesitated, his father gave him a stern look. "Oh, alright, Dad." He perched nervously on the edge of a chair. "What's up?"

"Well…," Colette began. "...we want to give you a wedding gift."

"Mom, you don't need to do that. I mean, you came all this way for my wedding, and that's the most important thing…"

"Now, Jack...you know better than to argue with your mother. Besides, I think you're gonna like this." John took out his wallet and removed a slip of paper. "What do you think?"

"A check for five thousand dollars? Wow…" Jack was stunned. "But...this is a lot of money...how…did you..."

John laughed happily. "Well, we started a savings account for you a few weeks after you were born...you know, using money from baby gifts and such, and then we've added some to it every month. We'd set it aside for your college education, but the scholarships you earned saved us some cash, so this is what's left from it…and now it's yours."

Colette grinned at her son's shock. "I guess that's worth taking five minutes for, right? I'm sure you and Sue can use the money…"

"Yeah, we sure can! We'll put this towards the down payment for the new house we're going to build." Exhaling slowly, he rose from the chair, carefully folding the check before putting it in his jacket pocket. As he thought about all the sacrifices his parents had made for him over the years, he found it hard to maintain his composure. "I...um...I don't know what to say. 'Thank you' doesn't seem good enough…"

John pulled Jack into a hug. "Our pleasure, son. Sue's a wonderful girl, and we know you'll be very happy together."

"Thanks, Dad...thanks, Mom. So, um...I guess I really better get going…"

"Okay, Jack." Colette brushed away a tear as she hugged her handsome son. "We'll see you in a little bit."

"Okay. Bye…"

Watching as Jack left, Colette turned to her husband with tears in her eyes. "I'm so happy for him, Johnny…"

"Yeah, Babe...me, too."

Wearing an old tee shirt and a pair of knit shorts, Sue was flitting around her apartment, in a hurry to collect all of her belongings as her father calmly finished his cup of coffee. Finally, she nodded at him. "Okay, I think I have everything. Purse...wedding dress and shoes...undergarments...veil...makeup...hair brush...curling iron...flat iron..."

"Money, marbles, and chalk…" Seeing her confusion, her father laughed. "Just an old expression, Honey...another way to say 'everything'…"

As she checked her tote bag again, she shook her head. "It would've been so much easier if I had gotten dressed for the wedding here at home…"

"Well, you know your mother…" Mr. Thomas grinned as he picked up Sue's garment bag. "She left early so she could fuss over the reception details...and she also wants to help you get ready for the big day. This is the best way to do both of those things…"

"I know." Sue smiled happily. "And now I get to enjoy spending some time with my daddy…"

"And I get to spend time with my baby girl. Are you ready?"

"Yes...let's go."

They drove a few miles before Sue's father waved his hand to get her attention. "You know, your mom and I really like Jack. He's a great guy. I don't think I could've picked anyone better for you myself."

"Thanks." She smiled proudly. "He's wonderful...everything I've ever wanted! I'm so blessed to have him in my life!"

Mr. Thomas checked the rearview mirror before continuing. "Paul says he's going to draw up the plans for your new house."

"Yes, that's his wedding gift for us."

"I see. So how soon until you'll be able to start building?"

As she thought over the question, Sue shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I think it'll be a couple of years. Jack has most of the problems with his credit cards straightened out, but we want to save enough money for a good sized down payment."

"That makes sense. Well, I've got something that'll help you achieve that goal." He pointed at the car's dashboard. "Look in the glove box."

Unsure of what he was talking about, Sue opened the compartment and took out a check. "Seven thousand dollars? For us? Oh, Dad...this is too much…"

"No, it's not. See, we've been saving money for your wedding ever since you were born. Your mom spent part of that money on the reception, but since you've paid for most of the ceremony yourself, we decided you should use the rest of the money towards your new house."

Sue was astonished. "All this money was for my wedding? What was Mom planning, a three ring circus for the ceremony, and having a fifty piece orchestra play music for the reception?"

"I don't know...maybe? I know she said she'd expected to pay a thousand dollars for your dress."

"Oh, my...I never dreamed of spending that much on a dress!" She studied the check in awe. "And now, you're giving the leftover money to us? Wow...I don't know what to say, except thank you so much, Dad! This is amazing!" She hesitated slightly as she put the check in her purse. "Do you think Mom is disappointed that I'm not having a huge, lavish wedding and a big pouffy dress?"

"To be honest, maybe she was at first, but now that she knows how happy you are with what you two have planned, I think she realizes that's what matters most."

Sniffling a bit, Sue dabbed at her eyes with a tissue. "I am happy, Dad...so happy…"

"I know you are, Honey...and that makes your mom and me happy, too." He gently patted her knee. "Now...let's get you married!"

After arriving at the church, Sue left Levi with her father before making her way to a dressing room off the main chapel. She was surprised to see the crowd waiting for her. Her mother, future mother-in-law, her bridesmaids, her nieces, and her sisters-in-law had all managed to somehow wedge themselves into the small space. She laughed happily as she peered inside. "I hope I'll fit in there! Do you really think it's going to take this many people to make me presentable?"

Mrs. Thomas gave Sue a hug. "Of course not, Darling! We're just excited to see how beautiful you're going to be! Now, we'd best hurry…let's get you out of those old clothes..."

"Okay." Slipping out of the shorts and tee shirt, Sue pulled some of her new lingerie from her bag. "Nothing like new white lace undies to go with my white lace dress."

Lucy had a gift for her best friend. "Here's your 'something blue'...a fancy blue lace garter."

"How pretty! Thank you!" After putting it above her knee, Sue unzipped her garment bag. "Okay...here goes nothing!"

"Oh, Sue...it's exquisite!," Denise exclaimed as Sue held up the hanger. "I can't wait to see it on you!"

The gown was made of delustered white satin with a delicately embroidered lace overlay, which had been enhanced with pearl beads. The strapless bodice was form fitting, dipping down well below her shoulders in back. The dress's knee length, straight skirt gently hugged her curves. A narrow satin sash with pearl beading completed the look.

Sue stepped into the gown and pulled it up over her chest, pausing as her mother zipped it closed, and then turned to her friends with a shrug. "Well? What do you think?"

"Jack is gonna go crazy when he sees you, Sue…" Tara's grin was wide as she studied her friend. "You look stunning!"

"Lovely!," Colette agreed. "It certainly shows off your nice figure!"

"Thanks!" Sue smoothed the dress over her hips. "I know it's not a traditional gown, but I love it. When I went shopping for a wedding dress, I was shocked at how expensive they were, especially considering I'd only wear it once, but I found this one on the clearance rack, and when I tried it on, I felt so...beautiful, but I was worried about the price. Guess what? It's last year's design, and the size had been mismarked in it, so it was only seventy dollars! And it fits perfectly...like it was made for me."

"You're right, Darling." Carla smiled as she gave Sue a hug. "It is perfect…and you make a beautiful bride..." Wiping at her eyes with a tissue, she exhaled slowly as she produced a small box from her purse. "So...for your 'something old', I've brought your Grandmother Rosemary's strand of pearls. She wore them on her wedding day...I wore them on my wedding day, and now it's your turn to wear them. And, if you have a daughter, perhaps someday she can wear them for her wedding, too..."

Sue sniffled softly as she ran her fingers over the delicate necklace. "What a wonderful legacy, Mom! Will you help me put them on?"

Soon the pearls were in place, and it was time for the finishing touches. Smiling, she turned to one of her sisters-in-law. "For my 'borrowed' item, I'm using Lisa's veil from her wedding."

Sue brushed her hair back on either side and secured it with a rectangular white clasp that was encrusted with pearl and crystal beads, with layers of elbow length pearl studded tulle attached to it. After arranging the veil in her hair, she stood up to look at her reflection in the room's full length mirror, and was overcome with emotion. "Wow…I can't believe it! I'm really a bride..."

"And a gorgeous one at that, Darling.," Sue's mother said as she fussed with the veil for a few minutes while the other women gushed over how pretty the bride looked. Colette took several pictures of Sue and her mother before Lucy noticed the time.

"Oh, my goodness! The wedding starts in thirty minutes!" After ushering everyone out of the room, Lucy handed Sue some strappy white heels. "I taped a penny into one of them, so you're all set. I'm gonna go check out the chapel and make sure everything's going smoothly. You can just make yourself comfortable here...your dad will come get you at about 10:45 or so..." Lucy smiled happily as she gave her roommate a hug. "You look so happy…it's like you're glowing!"

"I am happy, Lucy...and I'm ready to get married!"

Bright morning sunlight streamed through the chapel's jewel toned stained glass windows, casting a warm glow over the sanctuary. The church's worship team began playing the wedding's prelude music, a medley of well known hymn tunes, as the pews filled with guests.

Bouncing on the balls of his feet, Jack waited nervously to make his entrance. "Come on...come on. I can't wait any longer! Let's go…what's the hold up? It must be time to start..."

"Relax, mate." Bobby grinned at his friend. "Less than ten minutes 'til show time…you're almost there..."

Five minutes later, after Sue's nieces had finished lighting the candles, Colette was escorted to her pew by Sue's brother Paul, and Carla was escorted to her seat by Jimmy and Bill. Peeking through the entry leading to the front of the church, Henry nodded. "Okay, fellas...we're on."

Looking handsome in their new gray suits, the men followed Henry into the church and lined up in front of the altar. Jack tried to remain calm, but he couldn't help tugging on his collar as he whispered to Bobby. "Why haven't we started yet? What's taking so long? Where's Sue's ring?"

"Calm down! The ring's in my pocket, where it belongs!" Winking at Jack's father, Bobby laughed. "Poor fella's gone berko on us…"

John playfully elbowed his son. "I think he'll feel a lot better in about thirty minutes…"

Meanwhile, the bridesmaids were giggling in the vestibule as they lined up to enter the chapel. Lucy smiled as she handed Sue a small nosegay made up of miniature white roses and sprays of lily of the valley, tied with white and silver ribbon. "Are you ready?"

"Of course." She tried to peek into the sanctuary without being seen. "How does Jack look?"

Tara gave him an appraising glance. "Very cute...but you already know that..."

"Yes, I do…"

Denise laughed merrily. "Bubba looks kinda nervous. I hope he doesn't pass out before we start…"

After what seemed like an eternity, it was time for the ceremony to begin. After a slight nod from Henry, the musicians began the processional music Jack had chosen: variations on the hymn Morning Has Broken.

A few seconds later, Denise started down the aisle, followed by Tara, and then Lucy. Looking lovely in their dark blue dresses, the bridesmaids and maid of honor carried small bouquets of variegated red tulips and yellow daffodils.

As they took their places in the front of the altar, Henry gestured for the congregation to rise, and all eyes turned to the back of the chapel as Sue made her entrance on her father's arm. Levi followed close behind as she began her walk down the aisle.

"Here we go, Honey...," Bob said, patting her hand. "Jack looks very happy to see you..."

"I'm happy to see him, too." Sue sighed contentedly as she saw how good the groom looked in his new gray suit. "He's so handsome...and I love that blue shirt…and he's going to be my husband!"

"Whoa..." Bobby smiled in appreciation as he saw Sue enter the chapel. "I wish I could think of something clever to say, but all I can come up with is...wow. You're a lucky man, Sparky! She looks great, doesn't she?"

"Oh my God…," Jack gasped in amazement when he had the first glimpse of his bride approaching the altar. "She looks…so...incredibly gorgeous! It's almost unbelievable how good she looks…and she's gonna be my wife!" Catching her eye, he signed BEAUTIFUL with a broad grin, and she smiled happily. "You're right, Crash...I am so lucky..."

When Sue arrived at the altar, Henry addressed the congregation. "Dear friends...we've come together on this beautiful morning, in the presence of God and this company, to celebrate the joining of two separate lives into one. Our brother in Christ, Jackson Samuel Hudson, and our sister in Christ, Susan Renee Thomas, have chosen to enter the blessed covenant of marriage together, which was established by God in Creation. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, blessed this manner of living with His presence and first miracle at the wedding in Cana. Therefore, these two stand before us to emulate God's Word, uniting their souls by being married in His Most Holy Name."

Caught up in the emotion of the moment as he glanced at Lucy, Henry paused for a few seconds, exhaling slowly before continuing. "Let us pray...Heavenly Father, marriage signifies for Your children the union between Christ and his Church. This morning, Jack and Sue have come forward to enter that sacred union. Father, we pray for Your blessing on these two people as they choose to join their lives in Your Presence. Give them joy as they grow together in Your love...and give them strength as they face life's challenges through the years. Let them be an example of the deep love that God has for all of His children. Amen."

He turned to Sue's father. "Who supports this woman in her choice to enter this covenant?"

Bob grinned happily as he turned to his daughter. "Her mother and I." After kissing her cheek, he placed her hand on Jack's arm and turned to sit with his wife, with Levi following him.

"And who supports this man in his choice to enter this covenant?"

John smiled proudly as he stepped forward. "His mother and I." He shook his son's hand and gave Sue a hug before walking to his seat.

"Very well." Turning to the wedding guests, Henry addressed them. "Will those of you gathered here this morning support Jack and Sue as they enter this covenant?"

"We will!," was the resounding answer from the congregation.

"Wonderful!" Henry winked at the happy couple. "Well, you two, it looks like we're good to go."

Jack grinned back at the pastor. "I'm glad to hear that! I'd hate to have to turn back now!"

Laughing heartily, Henry continued with the service, addressing the guests. "Now let's hear the Word of the Lord. Please be seated for the readings."

Colette walked up to the pulpit and opened the large Bible that had been placed there. "A reading from Ephesians, chapter 4. 'For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.' The Word of the Lord." Smiling happily, she hugged her son and new daughter in law before returning to her seat.

Then it was Carla's turn. After finding her place, she cleared her throat softly and began to read. "A reading from Colossians, chapter 3. 'Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.' The Word of the Lord." After closing the Bible, she embraced the couple affectionately and sat down next to her husband.

"Thanks be to God for His most precious Word.," Henry said as Carla returned to her seat. "Before we go further, I believe Sue and Jack have something to say to each other. Sue?"

Blushing slightly, she nodded as she handed her bouquet to Lucy. "Jack…," she said, signing as she spoke. "...it's very hard to explain just how much you mean to me, but I'm going to try. I suppose everyone knows how good you are at your job, but I'm not sure everyone knows how good you are at being a kind, compassionate, godly man. You bring out the best in everyone...including me. You've always said that I got where I am in life because of my own efforts, but your unconditional love has helped me grow into the person I am today. I'm so blessed to have you in my life, and I'm so glad that God has sent me a wonderful man like you. I'm so happy, and I'll be so proud to say that I'm your wife. I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you, and I wish everyone could be as happy as I am at this moment. I love you very, very much."

Jack's heart skipped a beat as he listened to Sue's heartfelt words. Seeing the love shining in her eyes, and knowing he meant so much to her, took his breath away. In an effort to compose himself he exhaled slowly, wondering if he should go through with what he had planned.

What if I blow it? What if I sign it wrong?" Seeing Sue's happy smile, he decided to take the chance. She's gonna be pleased, no matter how I do this, because I tried...

"Well...um…so now it's time for your surprise." He smiled bashfully at his bride, knowing her curiosity was piqued. "You see, I heard a song on the radio a couple of months ago, and it reminded me so much of how I feel about you...about how you've changed my life. I know you can't hear the music, but Henry helped me figure out how to share the words with you. I'm going to try to 'sing' it for you…" Seeing her confusion, he quickly continued. "Well, you know, I'll be 'singing' by signing. I hope you'll be able to figure out what I mean."

He nodded to the worship leader, who then picked up a guitar and sat down on a stool next to the piano. The interpreter stood next to him to sign the words as he sang them. When he began the song, Jack faced Sue, mouthing the words so she could read his lips.

I had all but given up on finding the one that I could fall into.

As the song's chorus began, Jack was the picture of concentration as he carefully signed the words for Sue.

Sue's eyes were shining with tears as she read what Jack was signing. Feeling a rush of joy as she realized how much work he'd done to learn to sign the words of the song just for her, a beautiful smile spread across her face as he continued to 'sing' the second verse along with the worship leader.

The congregation watched in fascination as Jack signed the chorus again, moved by the love that was evident in his gestures as he signed the chorus.

As the last notes of the song died away, an emotional Jack took Sue's hands in his. "I love you...so much…"

"Jack, that was so amazing! And you signed it so well! I loved it! Thank you so much for sharing that song with me." She sniffled softly, giggling as she brushed tears from her eyes. "I'm glad Lucy insisted that I wear waterproof mascara…"

"I tell you what…," Henry said with a chuckle as he pretended to glare at Jack, "...it's gonna be hard to follow an act like that." As the guests laughed, the pastor smiled at the couple in front of him. "I'm gonna keep this next part short so we can get to the good stuff, okay?" He held up his Bible. "So let's hear what St. Matthew has to say about the subject at hand."

After finding the right page, he nodded. "This is from Chapter 4 of his Gospel. 'Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.' The Word of the Lord."

Closing his Bible, Henry placed it on the altar table before continuing. "Here's why I chose that reading for your wedding. When you two were in pre-marital counseling with me, a common theme kept coming up...which was that no matter what was happening in your lives at the time, you were always there for each other...always. If you take that idea...that 'rock', if you will...and then use it to build your house upon...the new family you're creating today will be able to stand against any of the rainstorms, the rising streams and the harsh winds of life. Treat each other as a precious gift...love each other tenderly...forgive each other as necessary...and your house...your family...will grow stronger everyday on that rock...on the foundation of your love and your faith in the Lord. Amen."

The congregation responded, "Amen."

"Now, if you'll please join right hands..." Henry turned to Sue, signing as he spoke. "Sue, will you have Jack to be your husband? Will you love him, comfort him, and honor him, exalting him as the Church exalts her Lord, Jesus Christ? Will you forsake all others and remain faithful to him throughout the rest of your life?"

Smiling at Jack, she nodded. "I will."

"Then repeat after me: In the name of the Lord, I, Sue, take you, Jack, to be my husband...to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow."

After Sue had spoken her vows, it was Jack's turn. "Jack, will you have Sue to be your wife? Will you love her, comfort her, and honor her, protecting her and loving her as our Lord, Jesus Christ, loves and protects his Bride, the Church? Will you forsake all others and remain faithful to her throughout the rest of your life?"

Wearing a huge grin, he nodded. "I will."

Henry continued. "Then repeat after me…"

After Jack had spoken his vows, Henry prayed over their wedding rings. "Bless, O Lord, these rings, which are symbols of Your perfect, eternal love for us." Handing Sue's ring to Jack, he continued. "Repeat after me...Sue, I give you this ring as a symbol of my everlasting love. With all that I am, and with all that I have, I declare myself wed to you in the Name of the Lord."

After the ring was placed on Sue's finger, Henry handed her Jack's ring. "Sue, repeat after me…Jack, I give you this ring as a symbol of my everlasting love... "

The vows had been spoken and the rings exchanged. Looking out toward the congregation, Henry lifted his hands to bless the happy couple.

"Now that Jack and Sue have given themselves to each other through these solemn vows and the exchange of rings, I pronounce them to be married in the eyes of God and according to the laws of this state. Let us pray...Father, we ask that You make their life together a sign of Christ's love for this sinful and broken world, that their unity may overcome estrangement, and their love may overcome despair. Amen." Breaking into a wide grin, Henry laughed. "Okay...you two can kiss now…"

"Finally!" Jack took Sue into his arms, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. They shared a tender kiss as the congregation erupted into enthusiastic applause.

After a few seconds, Henry cleared his throat. "Okay, okay…" Seeing the couple's sheepish grins, he laughed. "Dear friends, I present to you the newlyweds, Jack and Sue Hudson!"

The worship leader began the recessional, and Sue turned to walk back down the aisle, but Jack took her hand to stop her. "Wait just a minute…" He pointed to the interpreter. "She's signing the words to this song…"

Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,

God of Glory, Lord of Love.

Hearts unfold like flowers before You,

Opening to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness,

Drive the dark of doubt away.

Giver of immortal gladness,

Fill us with the light of day!

Kissing Sue again, Jack beamed with happiness. "That's how you make me feel, Sugar. Now that we're married, I'm so full of love and joy…"

Sue's smile was wide as she looked into his warm brown eyes. "Yes...me, too. I'm so happy…I don't have enough words to explain it..."

"Yeah, me, too." He grinned as he looked over his shoulder. "Well, Mrs. Hudson...I guess everyone's waiting for us to leave, so..."

The couple left the chapel hand in hand, overflowing with love and happiness as they began their new life together.
