A Pair of Purpose

It is amazing how we've become a pair of purpose as we sit here on the balcony. Seated just so away from the doorway, slightly askew to accommodate, the wall before us giving us the barest of glimpses to the city set before us. We sit here, purposefully contemplating, of day's events, of future concerns, of past thoughts. Shirley Schmidt, Brad Chase, Paul Lewiston, and numerous other partners and workers have come under scrutiny from this safe haven. Opinion is everything, whether it is good or bad, and between smoky haze and the tinkle of ice in a glass, the subjects are carefully picked apart, and rebuilt in ghoulish form to fit into our little world.

Who would have thought two carefully constructed, lovingly created easy chairs could have become such objects of important purpose. I have the honour of being the comforting, smooth seat for non other than THE Denny Crane; and I have the equally important honour of offering Alan Shore (he really is an unappreciated man of his time) a moments peace, to peruse his thoughts at will in the company of the very man himself.

We are privy to the intricacies of their thoughts, ideals and temperaments. Reliable, safe and comforting. We share their up and downs, keep their secrets, and offer a continuous stability to their hectic lives. We are indeed a unique pair of absolute purpose.
