The rest of the break was spent by searching the clubs, using the badge provided by Sona to be allowed inside. However, it seemed like the Student Council was well respected as none of the clubs tried to stop it, in fact many of the female cast seemed to be delighted that it was visiting their clubs, not sure why. However, due to the task Sona gave it, it skipped the launch time and had to go back to the classroom without going to the rooftop for a dose of sweets.
On the flipside, the Knight was able to pinpoint over a dozen vulnerabilities in multiple clubs, which led to them being reported as soon as possible. One thing was certain, the school was going to use some money on it. And judging by the short conversations it had with the dozens of different club members, they all appreciated it's help, not that it cared.
"...You didn't come," Koneko pointed out with a questioning look, as he sat next to her.
"...Busy, here," The Knight replied and handed over the bag. "...Only half."
"...Okay," Koneko said and took the sweets before the teacher came to the classroom. "...Thank you."
"...You're welcome," It replied and hid the sweets back in it's backpack.
After that, the lesson seemed to pass in a blink of an eye. And just like the last time, it was surrounded by dozens of female students, but saying that it needed to go to the Student Council made it easy to go through them. What it didn't notice was the fact that Koneko was watching it while it was surrounded by female students, her eyes following it's every movement.
"… I am back, President," The Knight said, the rest of the Student Council already there.
"Welcome back, Knight, how did it go?" Sona asked, while the Knight pulled out a list it made during the whole ordeal.
"…Multiple Vulnerabilities were detected. Here is their list," It said and handed it over. Sona raised an eyebrow and began reading, her eyes spreading wider and wider with each word, a scowl evident on her face.
"This… is not what I expected," Sona began and put the list on the desk. "Are you sure about your findings?"
"...Indeed," The Knight replied, making Sona sigh in response, before she pinched her temple.
"Tsubaki, make a request, we will need to hire some carpenters and do some maintenance," Sona said.
"Understood, anything else I need to do?" She asked.
"Yes, everyone bar Momo and Knight, we will go to confirm the list he provided," Sona said.
"What about us, President?" Momo asked.
"I want you two to go to the Occult Research Club and tell Rias that we need to talk about vulnerabilities the perverted trio could use," Sona said.
"...Why us? Why not Miss Hanakai only?" The Knight asked.
"Simple, do you know where the club is?" The Knight shook its head. "Then that's a good reason. Rias Gremory's family provides our school with funds, which means you two will be interacting with each other sooner or later. Besides, her club is small, a total of four members being a part of it. With Momo, I can trust her that she will lead you there and explain things on your way there. Is that clear?"
"...Understood," The Knight replied.
"Very well, I will take the Knight to the Occult Research Club, President," She said with a bow. "Let us go." The Knight nodded, bowed slightly and followed the girl, leaving the rest of the Student Council behind.
"Okay, everyone, let us go, I want to be certain," Sona ordered and the rest of the club left the room.
"So, Knight, did you face a lot of trouble searching all the clubs?" Momo asked.
"...No, simple task," It replied, the two lapsing into silence. "...You?"
"Me? Well, Sona made us do some preparation for some of the upcoming events, but it was easy enough, I suppose," She replied. "… How do you like the school thus far?"
"… Decent, too much female attention," It replied, while Momo giggled.
"Well, you seem to be making a splash," She began, the Knight glancing towards her. "Didn't you know? Ever since you took care of the Perverted Trio, rumors have been going around, describing you as a knight in shining armour."
"… I see. Do you believe them?" The Knight asked, a bit surprised that anyone would care about it beating the perverted trio.
"After what you did thus far? A bit, I guess," She replied. "You're not faking it, are you?"
"… No point," It replied. "…Never did."
"I see…," Momo replied.
Having a conversation with the Knight proved to be more difficult than she expected. The Knight was a man of a few words to say the least. However, at least he didn't ramble on about breasts for hours like Hyodou Issei did. She didn't mind someone being quiet, but the Knight was straight out stoic, it's mysterious charm doing wonders on the female students, who didn't know him that well.
"So, Knight, we will be meeting with Rias Gremory and her club members, including Koneko Toujou, Akeno Himejima and Kiba Yuuto, do you know any of them?" She tried.
"...Himejima and Toujou," It replied.
"You do? How so?" She inquired.
"...Toujou classmate, Himejima… talked to me in the morning," It replied.
"She talked to you?" Momo asked, remembering a rumour that Akeno was rejected. She initially considered it a joke, but considering who she talked to, it made much more sense.
"… She did," It replied.
"Well, what did she talk about?" Momo asked.
"...Eating lunch together, cake, cuteness," It replied.
"Cuteness?" Momo inquired.
She was actually surprised about that, then again, there was a very high possibility that Akeno did that simply to toy with the Knight, but it didn't work. However, the subject of cuteness interested her and she wanted to find out what the Knight considered cute.
"… Yes, she asked if girls are attractive or cute," The Knight replied.
"Is that so? What did you say?" She asked.
"...That boys, girls and her aren't cute." Momo blinked at the confession.
"Girls are not cute…? Then what do you find cute?" Momo asked.
"… Butterflies," The Knight replied, thinking of Marissa. It didn't want to mention the half-spider, half-wyrm bug that Hornet was.
Momo giggled in response, before shaking her head. "You're weird."
"...I am," It confirmed, before glancing towards his companion. "...Why do people care about being cute?"
"Hmm… I suppose it's because they like the feeling, knowing that they are attractive," She explained. "Do you not care about being cute?"
The Knight shook its head. "...Does calling people cute make them feel good?"
"Well… girls like that, boys less so," She replied.
"… I see," The Knight replied and focused on the journey.
Cute? Hornet was cute. Marissa as well. Human females? Not really. However, calling someone cute improved their mood. It reminded the Knight of the Elder Bug, who it gave a fragile flower. Perhaps that's what it should do as well. Unfortunately, there weren't any flowers here, outside of the ones planted in the soil, but, there was a florist shop outside the school. The Knight got an idea, stopping in its tracks.
"Something wrong?" Momo asked.
"… Can you wait here for five minutes?" The Knight asked.
"Um… I guess?" She replied, while the Knight nodded.
"… I will be back soon," It said and quickly jogged outside the school grounds, while Momo sighed. What did he come up with now?
What she didn't know was the fact that the Knight came up with a plan. Back in the Hallownest it gave flowers to more than one bug and by talking with Momo, it remembered something that made them happy. Snow white flowers, fragile flowers, it would give them to all of the members of the Student Council, that should make them happy, right? Koneko too. What about Akeno? And Gremory? Hmm… there was no reason not to, outside of more money spent that is.
"Welcome to my flower shop, how can I help you?" Young female attendant asked.
"...White flowers, twelve of them please," It asked.
"White flowers, huh? Let me see, there," She said and showed a bucket of flowers. "Would you like them all packed in one package?"
"...No, separate," It replied, they weren't fragile flowers, but they would do.
"Alright, coming right up," She said and packed them all. "Here you go, it will be two thousand yen total."
"...Here you go," The Knight said and gave the girl an appropriate amount of money.
"Thank you for the business!" She said and bowed, while the Knight nodded and quickly made it's way back to Momo.
"There you are, what took you… huh?" She asked, white flowers in the vessel's hands. "Who are these for?"
"… Many," The Knight said and snipped out a single flower, before presenting it to Momo. "...Here you go."
"I… thank you," She replied and gently scooped up a flower with a smile. "You needn't have done that."
"...Perhaps. Does it make you feel better?" It asked, making Momo blink, before she giggled as she remembered what they had just been talking about.
"Yes, it does, thank you, Knight," She replied. "Now then, shall we go to the club?"
"...Let's," The Knight agreed.
After that, the journey to the club took only a moment, which looked like a ghost house to an extent. Momo then knocked on the door, before they were let inside by Akeno. There, the Knight saw two familiar faces and two unknown ones, including a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes. The interior was just as comfy and sophisticated as the Student Council's room.
"Good Morning," Momo greeted.
"Ara, what brings you here today, Momo?" Akeno asked.
"President has got a message for Miss Gremory," She replied.
"Oh? I see, come on in," Akeno let them inside the room.
"Good Morning, Momo," Rias greeted. "I see that you brought somebody with you."
"Arthur Knight, he is a new member of the Student Council," She explained.
"...Greetings," The Knight said.
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Mister Knight," Rias said as she walked closer to the boy, knowing full well that her charm should make the boy melt in front of her.
"...Likewise," It replied, before snipping out a flower and presenting it to the girl.
"Is that for me?" Rias asked, surprised by the gesture, while the Knight nodded. She smiled and took the flower, Momo looking intensely at the exchange. "It's a nice flower, thank you."
"...You're welcome," It replied, before it walked up to Akeno and presented her with her own flower.
"Ara ara, are you sure you want to give me a flower?" Akeno asked, while the Knight nodded. "Why thank you, you're such a gentleman. I would love to know you better."
"… I have to decline," The Knight replied, before walking up to the boy.
"Kiba Yuuto," He introduced himself and extended his hand. The Knight looked at it, returned the handshake, a gesture it had seen other humans do, before presenting another flower to Kiba. "Are you giving me a flower?"
"...Yes," The Knight replied, while Kiba chuckled in response.
"Shouldn't you give those to girls instead?" The man asked, while the Knight shook its head.
"So, Momo, what message does Sona have for me?" Rias asked, her eyes glancing at the Knight every now and then.
"She would like to talk to you regarding the perverted trio and their hiding spots, along with necessary maintence," Momo replied.
"Hmm… I see, I will meet her tomorrow during break," She replied.
"Very well, I shall let her know," Momo said.
In the meantime, Kiba finally relented and accepted the flower, amused by the gesture, but grateful nevertheless. Once the Knight gave the flower to the boy, it walked up to Koneko and presented with a flower of her own.
"...Here you go," The Knight said.
"...Why?" She asked, before taking the flower, her expression stoic.
"… Does it make you feel better?" The Knight asked, while the girl blinked in response, before glancing at the flower.
"… A bit," She settled on, she preferred sweets after all.
"… Do you not like it?" The Knight asked, while the girl shook her head.
"...Sweets better," She replied, while the Knight nodded, put the flowers on the table, before giving away half of the sweets it had left.
"...Better?" It asked, while the girl blinked at the kind gesture.
"...Yes," She replied, her cheeks flushed red, something that didn't escape other's attention.
"Hey, Knight, I have delivered a message, we can go now," Momo said, while the Knight nodded.
"...Let's," It agreed and walked up to her with seven flowers remaining.
"Miss Gremory, everyone, have a nice day," Momo said, bowed and left, the Knight following after her.
"He is a nice person, isn't he?" Kiba said, looking at the flower in his hands.
"…He is," Koneko added quietly.
"Ara, ara, it looks like Koneko likes the Knight," Akeno said, the girl blushing in response, while glaring at her older.
"Sadly, no sacred gear," Rias said with a sigh. "Why couldn't he get sacred gear instead of Issei? It would be so much better."
Akeno giggled in response. "I am afraid, we can't have everything."
"I guess," Rias grumbled. "Still, you were right, Akeno, he truly doesn't seem to be swayed by our charm."
When Akeno first told her that the Knight pretty much rejected her, she couldn't believe her own ears. However, after seeing him in person and seeing how it interacted with her and her peerage, she had to admit, she didn't expect that. Flowers, complete lack of emotions, no reactions despite her being close to him, nothing. No wonder Sona decided to go for him, a perfect student one could say.
Akeno giggled in response. "It seems so. Though, I didn't expect him to give us flowers out of the blue."
"Likewise. If he only had a sacred gear, I would have already invited him to the peerage," Rias admitted.
"Unfortunately, Issei is the only sacred gear we know of. That reminds, when should we invite him to the club?" Kiba asked.
"Soon, it shouldn't be hard, but I still want to confirm that his sacred gear is worth it in the first place," Rias replied. "Knight… why couldn't you have a powerful sacred gear?"
"So… I have been meaning to ask, why did you buy so many flowers?" Momo asked, as they were heading back to the Student Council.
"… Student Council, Occult Research Club, twelve members total," It replied.
"I see… Aren't you worried that other female students will notice?" She asked, some females already talking between each other, as soon as they noticed them walking together with a bunch of flowers in the Knight's hands.
"...No," It replied, while Momo sighed in response. He truly didn't care, did he? The rest of the trip back was spent in silence, before the duo entered the room, everyone turning towards them.
"Welcome back, how did it go?" Sona asked, her gaze directed to the flowers in the Knight's hands and a flower in Momo's hands, which made her flush a bit.
"Rias Gremory wishes to speak to you tomorrow during break," Momo replied, hoping to avoid explaining the situation herself.
"Very well, I will make some time. Now then, why are you carrying a bunch of flowers, Knight?" Sona asked.
"...Present," It replied, walked to Sona and presented her with a flower.
"Hey! What do you think you are doing?!" Saji yelled, glaring daggers at the Knight.
"Saji," Sona chided, making the boy shut up. She sighed, before accepting the flower. "Thank you for the flower, but may I ask why?"
"...Does it make you feel better?" The Knight asked, while Sona blinked and glanced at the flower.
"I suppose so, is that the reason for it?" She asked, while the Knight nodded. "I see. Thank you for it, Knight, I appreciate it." A small smile on her face.
"...You're welcome," It said.
After that, the Knight walked up to Tsubaki and presented her with a flower of her own, the girl accepting it with a small smile of her own. "Thank you, Knight."
"...Here," The Knight said as it presented flower to Tomoe.
"Thank you!" She said excitedly, while the Knight nodded.
"... Here," It presented another flower, this time to Reya.
"Thank you, Knight," She said with a gentle smile, the vessel repeating the gesture.
He did the same thing for every other member of the Student Council, which they all seemed to enjoy, until it was Saji's turn, the last flower for him. "...Here."
"I don't want your stupid ass flower," The boy exclaimed.
"… Why not?" The Knight asked.
"I am not a girl, nor am I gay," The boy said.
"...Do you not like flowers?" The Knight asked.
"No, I don't," The boy replied with a scowl.
"… Okay," The Knight replied and put the flower away to it's bag.
"Saji, you should have accepted it," Tomoe said.
"Well, regardless of Saji's stance on flowers, I would like to thank you for them, Knight," Sona said.
"...You're welcome," It replied.
"Now then, I believe it's time to leave the school for now. Thank you for your hard work today, everyone," Sona said.
"… Indeed. May I leave, President?" The Knight asked.
"We are leaving anyway, so let us walk to the exit together," Sona pointed out, while the Knight nodded.
The group began walking towards the exit, the girls chatting around excitedly, Momo surrounded by them, embarrassed, judging by her red face. The Knight didn't care, nor did it participate in it, but hearing them happy meant it was worth it, just like the Elder Bug was. However, it soon had to leave, as the members of the Student Council lived in the opposite direction than it's house. It said it's goodbyes, before leaving, slowly moving towards it's house, before it spotted a familiar face waiting for it in the middle of the street, Ophis.
"… Good Morning," It greeted her.
"… Good Morning," She said back, while the Knight stopped in front of her.
That reminded it of something. It still had one flower left. "...Here you go."
Ophis blinked as a pure white flower was presented to her. "...Why?"
"...Present," It replied. "...Do you not like it?"
She looked back at the flower. Has she ever been given a present? She tried to remember, but she couldn't recall anything like it. It was a human gesture to give presents, but she had no use for the flower. However, the fact that she was given one was better than the attention of the Chaos Brigade. They feared her, admired her, but didn't exactly socialize with her, not that she minded, she preferred silence after all.
"...It's fine," She settled on and made the flower disappear, something the Knight noticed, but didn't comment on.
"… Do you want to head back together?" The Knight asked, after meeting the girl before. And to nobody's surprise, the girl nodded.
"...Yes," She said, while the Knight nodded and the two began walking back towards it's apartment. It only took a moment, before they reached their destination, Ophis standing in front of the apartment.
"...Do you like sweets?" The Knight asked, while Ophis stared blankly at it, before shrugging. "...Would you like to try some?"
"...Yes," She replied to it's surprise.
"...Okay, want to come inside?" It asked, while the girl nodded. For some reason, she reminded it of Koneko.
The Knight let the girl inside, who began looking around the room with curiosity in her eyes. In the meantime, the vessel went to the cupboard and filled two bags with sweets. It then hid one of them in the backpack, before presenting it to the girl. She nodded gracefully, before she began eating the sweets, the Knight sitting across her, neither speaking a word.
"… Are you a human?" Ophis asked, the Knight looking at her.
"… Why do you ask?" The Knight asked, it's dull expression directed at her.
"… I am curious," She replied.
"… Are you human?" The Knight asked, while the girl shook her head.
"… You?" She asked.
"… Not human, act like one," It replied.
It was trying to hide its identity from ordinary people, but the girl wasn't human, which made it easier. That didn't mean it wanted to reveal it to the devils or Ophis, but the girl in front of him did not seem to care. Regardless, as long as she didn't harm it, the Knight was fine with her.
"… What are you?" She asked, curious about the species of the Knight.
"… Won't tell," It replied.
"… Why not?" She asked.
"… Don't want to," It replied. "… You?"
"… I won't tell, if you won't tell," She replied. It was childish, but if he didn't want to say, neither would she.
"...That's okay," The Knight replied, the two lapsing into silence once more.
As Ophis sat there munching on sweets, she noticed that the room was quiet, very quiet indeed. Not as quiet as her dimensional gap, but quiet enough, most of the traffic barely heard from the apartment. She could get used to it, but Dimensional Gap was still her home in the end, not to mention, few other areas that were even more quiet than the apartment. The two sat like this, until Ophis finished her share of sweets.
"… Did you like them?" Knight asked.
"...Yes," Ophis replied.
"... What now?" The Knight asked, curious if she intended to stay in it's house.
"...Now? I am going home," She replied and stood up. "... Thank you for the sweets."
"… You're welcome," The Knight said and stood up, the two heading to the entrance. Ophis then went outside, before stopping at the front door.
"… Can I come again?" She asked.
"… Don't mind that," It replied, while the girl nodded.
"… Then I will come back again," The girl said, bowed and left, the Knight watching her during that time.
