The Knight was sitting on the rooftop, Koneko or perhaps Shirone still firmly in it's embrace, the girl slowly calming down. It didn't say anything during that time, didn't know how to comfort her, instead, it sat there silently as it waited for the girl to stop crying. However, time was not on the duo's side and as they were sitting there, a bell rang, signaling the end of break.

"… Lessons are starting soon," It pointed out.

"I don't care," She muttered, refusing to let go. "… Is it too much?"

Her eyes turned towards it, glistening with tears, while the Knight shook it's head. "… I don't mind. You're a friend, Shirone."

"Shirone… huh?" She said. "… I forgot about it… can you say it again?"

"… Shirone," The Knight said, while the girl smiled weakly, before burying her face in it's chest.

"Thank you," She muttered, content with staying like this for a little while longer.

"… Would you like me to call you like this from now on?" It asked, while the girl nodded. "Okay, Shirone."

The girl simply blushed in response, as she took in Knight's scent. She wasn't sure what she was feeling at the moment? Relief? Maybe… she couldn't say, nor did she care. All that mattered to her at the moment was the warm embrace she found herself in. There were many thoughts that were swirling in her mind, making her confused as she opened and closed her mouth as she tried to figure out one thing that bothered her.

"My sister… she tried to protect me, didn't she?" She asked, while the Knight nodded.

"… She did, didn't go according to plan," The Knight confirmed.

"… Why…?" She began, the Knight looking right at her. "Why was I spared?"

"… I don't know, Shirone," The Knight replied as it looked into the sky. "… I don't know… but…"

"But…?" She inquired, while the Knight looked back at her.

"… Your execution, the pardon… it was too convenient, too rushed, wasn't it?" It pointed out, while the girl nodded.

"It was," She agreed. "The devils… they didn't investigate properly… they labeled my sister a criminal… but why?"

"… It's hard to say for certain, but the man who saved your life, Sirzechs Lucifer, is Rias' brother, isn't he?" The Knight asked, while the girl nodded. "… I am not sure about human relationships, but don't brothers care for their siblings?"

"Then… the reason I could be spared...," Koneko began, as her eyes spread wide open.

"… Is it because Sirzechs or somebody else manipulated the things from the back for his sibling?" It suggested, while the girl nodded.

"Maybe…," She began, something to keep in mind for the future. "But… for now, let's not talk about it anymore. It's too much."

"… I agree," The Knight said, not caring about the lesson it was missing. Sona would probably yell at it, but honestly, it didn't care at this point, there were things more important than a day's worth of school.

"I think we should go," Koneko said after some more time and wiggled herself out of the embrace, her cheeks red. She then leaned towards the Knight before placing a kiss on it's cheek, making it's eyes spread wide open. "Thank you… for everything."

"… You're welcome," The Knight replied, a warm sensation spreading through its body, as it looked at the blushing girl in front of it. "… Shall we go?"

"Let's," Koneko agreed and helped him out, the two teenagers walking towards their classroom.

In the meantime, Sirzechs Lucifer was sitting in a comfy red chair located in front of a mahogany desk. He was dealing with one of the worst opponents of the devil kind… paperwork! The man could only sigh as he signed yet another pointless paper he was obliged to do, a rather hefty stack still waiting to be reviewed.

Behind him, stood his wife, Grayfia Lucifuge. She was a beautiful young woman appearing to be in her early twenties with back-length silver hair that featured a long braid on each side with small blue bows at the end, while the rest of it was let down, which ended in twin braids, her red eyes watching her husband. Her current attire that of a maid.

"How many of those are left, Grayfia?" Sirzechs asked, while the woman put another stack on his desk.

"With this one? You only have got only five hundred left," She replied.

"Oh no…," The man wept, as he looked at the amount of work he had left. "Grayfia please…"

"No, no buts, it's your obligation as one of the Four Satans," She refused, while the man sighed. "However… Rias sent you a letter, she asked to be delivered to your hands only, here you go."

"Aww… My little Rias is thinking of me," He said and took the letter, before opening it. He began reading through it's content, his eyes getting wider and wider, before he stood up and slammed the table. "… That's impossible…"

"What happened, dear?" Grayfia asked as she put her hand on his shoulder.

"… Someone was able to reverse the effect of evil pieces," He replied, the woman's eyes spread wide open. "Grayfia, call all the rest of the Four Satans, we must talk about it and keep it private."

"Understood," Grayfia said, bowed and quickly made her way out of the room.

Sirzechs bit his lip as he considered just how devastating the news could be to the Underworld itself, if they were made public. He had to figure out what happened, why it happened and most importantly how to prevent another civil war. Taking the letter with himself, he quickly changed into more regal attire with gold accents, before calling upon his magic and teleporting to a room, where Four Satans gathered to discuss important matters. It was dark, filled with several layers of defensive magic, only Four Satans and their queens could come here, everyone else was barred.

Shortly after he arrived, a few more magical circles appeared in the room, Grayfia and three more devils joining him inside the room. First of them was a young looking girl in her late teens, with black hair, tied into twin tails and blue eyes. She also had a child-like body, though her breast size was oddly big for her height. She was wearing what looked like some kind of magical girl outfit.

The two other members were males, with the first one being a tall man whose head was completely bald and a goatee on his chin. The other male was a bewitchingly beautiful and attractive young man appearing to be in his early twenties, with light blue eyes and green hair that was slicked back.

"It better be good, Sirzechs," Falbium, the bald one said. "I was having a nap, when you ruined it."

"It is," He confirmed. "Now then, let me get this straight to the point. Ajuka, somebody was able to reverse the process of evil pieces."

The other male's eyes spread wide open. "That's… impossible. I have spent years trying to figure out whether or not it was possible to do so, it wasn't. Who did that, how did they do that?"

"I am not certain yet. I have received a letter from my sister, who claims she saw it with her own eyes, along with members of her and Sona's Sitri peerage," He explained. "However, she didn't specify who that is or how they were able to do that."

"I see…," Ajuka replied, while biting his lip. "Why is that? Why wasn't it specified?"

"Well, it seems like they were worried about the fallout if it were to become public, so they kept it secret among themselves, which means, for the time being, we are safe," Sirzechs replied.

"Hang on! Does it mean that a devil can stop being a devil?" Serafall asked. "I am not letting my sister be turned into a human!"

"Slowdown, Serafall, we don't know that. From what I have read, the only one this being reverted was a reincarnated one," He replied. "We don't know anything about it, but that only means we should investigate it sooner rather than later."

"I agree, Sirzechs," Ajuka said. "Should we go now or…?"

"I believe so, it's our territory and we can't simply ignore it," He replied.

"Alright, now then, everyone, let's head out," Ajuka ordered.

"What a bothersome day…," Falbium complained, before the group disappeared.

"Why was I assigned to this task, nya…," Kuroka complained as she looked at the city of Kuoh from one of the highest buildings she found in it.

She was a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure, long black hair with split bangs and hazel-gold eyes with cat-like pupils. She was wearing a black kimono, a yellow belt called obi, a set of golden beads and an ornately detailed headband. This clothes did little to cover her shapely long legs or her large breasts. She would have looked like a human model, if it wasn't for a pair of black cat ears and two black tails.

She was sent here by Cao Cao, who got intrigued by the recent Ophis's absences. Why was that a thing she wasn't sure, not that she minded, orders were orders. All she had to look for was Ophis' scent, easy enough she supposed. Using a bit of yokai magic, she turned herself into a cute black cat, as she began walking around looking for Ophis. Her tracks led her to an apartment of some kind. Just as she pondered whether to break in, she heard footsteps coming in her direction. She noticed a young boy, who looked pretty cute making his way to an apartment, no magic though. The same couldn't be said about a girl next to him with white hair and blue eyes. She was a devil, that much was for certain. Kuroka hid in the shadows as she tried to eavesdrop on the duo.

"So, I will see you tomorrow, Knight, take care," Momo said.

"… Likewise, take care, Momo," It said, while the girl nodded and the duo said their goodbyes, that was her chance to strike!

"Meow!" Using her best acting, she walked to the boy, round his leg and began meowing.

"… Cat?" It asked, as it looked around. "… No owner around…"

"Meow!" Kuroka meowed again, doing her best impression of a cute cat.

"… What am I supposed to do with you?" The Knight asked.

"Meow!" Kuroka scratched the door, as she tried to make the boy open the door for her.

"… Do you want me to let you inside?" It asked, while Kuroka meowed in confirmation. "… I see."

Well, that was a problem, now the Knight had a cat that wanted to come inside for some reason. However, it had a few issues, it never took care of any animals and that was the first problem. Two, it had no food for it anyway. It was better at killing things than helping, that one time with Fallen angel not counting. At the same time, what was it supposed to do with it? Adopt it? No clue. Besides, animals weren't allowed at school. Well, it could feed it at the very least.

"… Wait here," The Knight said and began walking towards the nearest shop, where it could buy some cat food.

"Meow!" Kuroka meowed, her nose picking up on a scent she recognized.

It was subtle, a bit dulled by memories, but not forgotten… Shirone, her sister. She was here, in Kuoh and this boy knew her. This shouldn't be possible, she heard rumors, news about an execution for the nekomata… how was it possible? It didn't matter. She would do everything to get her sister back, but first she had to figure out where she was and what she could be going up against.

"… I am back," The Knight said, while Kuroka meowed.

It then opened the door to it's apartment and let her inside, the cat looking around with curiosity in her eyes. As soon as she passed the door, she knew her suspicions were confirmed. Ophis scent here was the most potent. Well, at least she knew where to find her. That's one of the mysteries gone, now all she had to do is figure out why the great dragon was interested in the boy.

"… Here," The Knight said and put a bowl with some cat food in front of her.

"Meow!" Kuroka meowed and began eating. She didn't mind eating cat food, at least every now and then and it would keep her appearance, she would do it.

"… Better?" The Knight asked, while the cat meowed after finishing her meal. "… Good, you can leave now."

"Meow!" Kuroka protested and jumped on the bed, before making herself comfortable.

"… You need to leave," The Knight said as it walked up to her.

However, Kuroka was not going to pack herself up and leave, she liked it thus far and by being cute, she was pretty sure, the boy's heart would melt and let her stay. The Knight looked at the cat, it's expression blank. Well, at least it tried, it didn't need a cat, it was problematic. Well, it was time for plan b, it seemed like. It then walked up to the cat and grasped her by the scruff of the neck.

Kuroka began hissing and meowing angrily, as she tried to slash at the Knight, who didn't seem to be bothered by it. It then walked up to the front door, opened it, put her outside, before quickly closing the door behind it, leaving her outside. She began meowing and scratching at the door, but there was no response. After a few minutes of meowing like that, she stopped, sighed and began walking away.

Well, that was a bust, maybe she needed to spend more time with the boy? Perhaps then he would enjoy her company and she still had to keep a lookout, so she found herself a nice spot and began watching the front door. It didn't take long, before she noticed Ophis appearing and knocking on the door of the apartment. There was no way in hell, she was going to come anywhere close to Ophis like that. The girl would see right through her. Well, at least she had things to do, like her sister. She would keep watching the boy and once she found her sister she would try to come up with a plan to rescue her, one way or another.

Mandatory Kuroka cat form and another cliffhanger. Honestly, I am curious why Kuroka didn't try to rescue Koneko? Did she think she was dead? Or what? I mean, stealing Koneko from Kuoh when she was alone, seems a bit easier than crashing a party, so I guess it's probably that.
