"Mom, where are we going and what's going on?!" Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson questioned his mother, Sally Jackson. They had been driving for minutes now in very thick fog that it was a miracle she could see.
"Percy" His mother started patiently. "There's too much information to explain right now. Once we get to safety, I'll fill you in on everything."
"Safety?" Percy said. "From what?"
"Very dangerous people." Grover, his… goat friend answered. "It's hard to explain but certain people are after you."
"Grover! Stop it you're going to scare him."
"Sorry."
Percy could hardly wrap his mind around everything that had happened so far. Monsters straight from the Iliad were trying to kill him, his best friend turning out to be a goat, his math teacher turning into a bat. He was always one for excitement but for once this was too much for him.
His mother suddenly swerved to the left knocking him over against Grover who made a "BAAAH" noise. Looking outside he saw a sign that said "PICK YOUR OWN STRAWBERRIES" on a white fence.
"Sorry, I almost missed it."
"We're… going to a strawberry field?"
"Remember that summer camp I told you about? This is it. Your destination." His mother explained. "This is also… the place your father wanted to send you." Her voice sounded pained. It broke his heart to see her so stressed.
"My father?" Percy's voice raised a pitch. More though in anger at him than anything else. "What does he have to do with any of this?! Ever since those old ladies cut that yarn you guys have been acting like the purge is coming."
"They weren't just any old ladies." Grover whispered. "They are the fates. They appeared before you so that means yo- someone is going to die."
"I heard that. You were about to say 'me' weren't you?" Percy accused.
"N-No I said someone. Could be anyone."
"Pretty sure you said 'me' before you said 'someone'."
"No, I never said that."
"Boys!" His mother interrupted loudly. Her voice cut through their argument like a knife through butter.
SKRRRRRR.
The car took a hard right and he noticed that they did so to avoid a large figure. He couldn't quite make out its shape but just the sheer height of it scared him.
"T-there's someone there. Through that fog."
"Doesn't matter, we're almost there where you'll be safe. C'mon C'mon."
Percy found himself unable to relax as he stood up in anticipation. His mind finally came to the realization that people were out to kill him. Not detain him or incapacitate him but actually KILL him. Mrs. Dodds, the monster with the sharp teeth, was out to get him.
His mind flickered to when Mr. Brunner had thrown him the sword. He reacted on instinct. He had never fought anyone seriously before, certainly not with a sword.
Before he could question Grover about it, a flash of light struck down on the car. A rattling boom occurred and then the car exploded, with him inside.

Caren woke up screaming. She sat up only to realize she had been dreaming. She was dreaming of her servant, Percy.
"Those… were his memories?" Masters when they slept occasionally got dreams of their servant's past life as a way to establish a greater bond between the pair. She had been wondering when she would have seen them.
It was certainly bizarre. The whole time she had been sitting in the middle seat in the back. It felt so real. Like she was actually there experiencing it and she could feel the anxiety that went through the group.
But one thing that struck her as odd was that the memories seemed very recent. At least relative to this time. There were no horses, long skirts or old fashion technology. In fact, it seemed to be a few years in the future with how the cars looked. She recognized they were driving in as a Camaro.
Her servant just kept getting more and more mysterious.
Speaking of her water-loving bodyguard, there was no sign of him. She hardly remembered what happened last night except a purple-haired woman wielding a staff in the shape of a cross gracefully walking down the stairs, looking angry.
She stood up and almost immediately regretted it as her legs were wobbly. She leaned against the bedside to steady herself. Once she got her feeling back in her legs she walked out of the room and into the living room. There, her servant stood, cooking breakfast with pots and pans.
Once he saw her, he briefly stopped turning the bacon in the pan and regarded her. "Oh, you're awake. You've been unconscious for like a whole day that I thought you would never wake up."
"What happened? I don't remember much."
"Okay, work with me here, what do you remember?"
"I… remember confronting my fath- Kirei Kotomine. After he told me to follow him to get more answers and knocked me out." She replied, sitting down on one of the chairs.
"Yeah, well after you cut the connection, me and Archer fought for a while longer than Ruler showed up announcing herself as someone named 'Saint Martha' ring a bell to you?"
Caren's eyes widened in recognition. "Yes, she is a saint from Judea and is recognized as Jesus' most trusted follower, carrying the staff of Jesus Christ himself. It's a high honor to even be near her."
She truly meant it too. Saint Martha tamed the evil dragon, Tarasque with her gentle words and made it her pet. She never gave up her faith in God even when people who worshipped Christianity back then were hung. That perseverance is what got her, the blessing of the Messiah.
It annoyed her that she never got to speak to the saint. Hopefully next time they came across each other, Martha could pass on her teachings.
The thought made her giddy.
"Wait, you said that she was a Ruler class servant?" Caren questioned.
"She said that she was in a class separate from the other nine. Somehow she was able to control all of us like puppets on a string with command seals and claimed to be the true overseer to this war." Percy explained. As he said that he scooped up all the bacon from the pan with his utensil and split it between two separate plates. The eggs were already on the plate too.
As he handed her the plate she spoke "That's very interesting. I'll have to look into that later. Did you learn anything else about the servants?"
"Not much, Archer is some kind of wizard who can create weapons that move at the speed of light and Saber is some sort of knight who has her sword shrouded in wind. When I clashed with it I noticed that I met metal which means it's concealing something. Probably a powerful weapon too."
Percy shrugged as he took a bite of his bacon. Caren noticed that it was blue for some reason. Actually, not just his bacon, his eggs were blue too.
"Why is your food blue?"
"It's something of a habit. My mom used to always cook food blue when I was younger so I've kind of followed it." He replied.
Caren noted it as one of his other strange habits. She didn't know how he colored the food blue since they had no coloring but didn't question it further.
She wondered about his mother though. She seemed very caring and she was curious as to what happened when the car exploded, was she okay? Clearly, he got out of it alive, but Caren found herself mysteriously concerned for the mother of the demigod.
"Hey, are you going to eat your food? It's going to get cold."
"Hey…" Caren hesitated to ask him the question. "Is your mother okay?"
Caren saw his eyes widen briefly before he sighed and dropped his fork. "You saw my memories." It wasn't a question; it was a statement.
She nodded. "I can sometimes glance at your past and you can do the same I think."
Her servant's green eyes met her amber eyes. "Okay, I guess I can't blame you for something that you can't control. I'm guessing you're referring to the time the Minotaur attacked me?"
The memories seemed to bring a change to Percy that she never seen before. Whatever happened must have been bad. She knew those eyes very well for she had it too when her father abandoned her, leaving her with her grandparents. She always found herself impassive about everything, lacking little desires or goals but at the same time being driven.
When she encountered her father, he was the same. His eyes were empty. Like he didn't care for a thing in the world. She wouldn't be surprised if he committed first-degree murder with how they were.
Caren brought herself back to reality and nodded at him.
"Okay, what happened next was when I-" An alarm clock ringing stopped him mid-sentence. Caren mentally cursed the clock for breaking the story. Getting up, she got into the room and moved to turn it on and realized one thing.
It was Monday. In the morning.
'It's a school day. We have to be at class or else we'll draw suspicion from Shirou and Rin. It would be bad if they came to our house."
Having made a decision, she turned it off and walked back out to the living room where Percy was gobbling up his remaining eggs.
"Percy. We have class today. Get your uniform on." He gave a loud groan which he did whenever school was mentioned. She didn't know what his big deal about school was. They weren't there to actually work only to scout out masters.
"You can't tell me we have to go after we just had a fight last night? My mana is very weak right now that any well-planned attack could defeat me." She could see through their shared connection that he wasn't just making up an excuse to not go to school. Though that was part of it his mana was indeed not very high. Definitely not enough to use any Noble Phantasms.
"We'll take you to the ocean or something later so you can regain your mana." Caren said.
Percy's eyes found the ceiling more interesting. "About that… I already did. Or tried too at least. It seems like I can't do it consecutively for some reason."
Caren grew nervous at the statement. If he couldn't regain mana anymore through the ocean, then how would he fight again? Even the weakest of servants, Assassin would be able to get him at this point meaning that they were currently at a huge disadvantage especially when they had two enemies who Percy had a hard time keeping up with.
Caren reconsidered her plans. If that was the case, then it would probably be safer to wait it out somewhere secure until the last fighters were left.
Percy's warm hands suddenly met Caren's shoulder. "It's okay, breathe. I've still got Riptide with me and very few weapons can pierce me. Sure, I may have to fight this war like a Ninja Turtle for a while but I'm confident that I can win. I've been in worse situations before. Compared to this, it's a whole lot better."
For some reason his words seemed to bring confidence back in her. She was starting to realize why he was a Heroic Spirit. The way how just his words seemed to make her muscles relax like they were in no danger was incredible.
"What we need though." Percy started, getting Caren's attention. "Is allies. Battles have a better chance of being won with a team then by yourself. We need to find servants that are also in as bad of shape as we are then we can work together to take on the stronger enemies one by one."
"Who do you propose then?" Caren questioned. He's proven himself to be a good leader so she figured she could trust him some more then she usually did.
"Not very sure. That lady with the chain-daggers could be a good ally but she reminds me of someone. There's something about her that makes my senses go crazy. Plus, she's very cavalier about killing. Ruler is a no go because she said she will remain neutral and Saber and Archer don't really like me."
"Then that leaves Berserker, Caster, Assassin and Lancer." Caren said. "Assassin and Caster are the two weakest classes so one or the other would be more inclined to help us."
"No assassin. I don't like people who stab me in the back." Percy said seriously. It seemed to be very personal to him, so she didn't push it.
"Caster it is then." Caren said. "Your magic resistance is really high so you should have no trouble fighting the servant. Caster's have bad stats all around except Mana and Luck. However, Caster's are usually extremely powerful wizards from the Age of Gods, meaning they have some devastating spells that are unpredictable. We should locate Caster and go from there."
"Do you even know where Caster is?" Percy asked. "This town is pretty big so it won't be easy locating them. Especially if they can just go invisible or something."
Caren put a hand on her chin in thought. "Caster's usually set up their base around ley lines so they can siphon off mana and use it to fulfill their needs. The leylines last time I checked were in Ryuudou Temple where the monks live."
"Ryuudou?" Percy blinked. "Like Issei Ryuudou?"
"Most likely." Caren said. "No worries though, he shouldn't know about the mage world or anything like that, his family just happened to live there for centuries."
Percy met eyes with Caren. "Which means that Caster probably did something to him and his family." Percy had been dealt the hand of manipulation enough times to know how it worked. He wouldn't put it past a servant to brainwash innocent people to get what they want.
"Let's not worry about that right now. I'm sure Issei is fine. Caster probably just made him think that they are family. If Caster started killing it would just go negatively in their favor in the end. For now, let's just go to school and act normal."
"But what about Rin and Shirou?" Percy questioned. "They share classes with us and they are definitely going to confront us eventually. We are their enemies so it's all too convenient that we are in the same building as them."
Caren waved her hand back dismissing his worries. "Although they are our enemies they aren't monsters and won't attack while people are around. Especially Shirou Emiya. I could tell straight off the bat that he would never kill someone unless he truly believed they deserved it. They even call him the school janitor." She smirked.
Percy was instantly reminded of Bob and the janitor's outfit and mop he carried around. The thought was then replaced with an image of evil Bob and how dark and menacing he looked. He never did figure out that mystery. What happened to his friend?
He was brought back to reality when Caren grabbed her school bag and walked towards the door. "Come on, we're leaving." He quickly hurried up after her and they made their way outside where people were already walking to school, chatting animatedly with their friends about trivial things like love, school and housework.
He envied how much time they had on their hands.
"Ehh~ Jackson, there you are!" A shoulder touched his uniformed shoulder, turning him around. It was Shinji Matou, one of the most confusing kids he had ever met.
"Hey Shinji." He greeted with no enthusiasm
"I see you're walking with your cousin Caren again." Shinji stated with his usual wide smile. "I was wondering if you could put in a good word with her for me. You know, give a man a fish and he'll give you thousands years later."
Percy resisted the urge to roll his eyes. His attempts at flirting were worse than Leo's and that was saying something. He knew guys like Shinji would never get on Caren's good side. He wasn't even sure what was her good side. But it definitely was not him. He could see Shinji flirting with just about any girl that wore a skirt.
"It's not really my place, sorry." He wasn't sorry at all. Still, appearances had to be kept and it would look bad if he outright denied him.
He could see Shinji biting his lip in anger, trying to suppress saying something bad in front of so many people and Caren. He mentally laughed at that. Shinji's attempts at being scary or dangerous didn't affect Percy in the slightest. Grover could pull off an angered glare and he'd seen him do it too!
Shinji opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by his purple-haired sister, Sakura Matou if he remembered correctly, approaching them. "Y-You left your lunch in your hurry, brother."
"Tch, did you pack what I like?"
"Yes, a rice ball with a smiley face on it, teriyaki chicken and your favorite orange juice."
"Sunny D?" Shinji said with a serious face.
"Yes." Sakura nodded.
Shinji snatched it out of her hands and turned away to the school.
'What is this dude's problem?' Percy thought to himself. 'He's disrespecting his sister who just brought him lunch! She seems like a sweet girl too. Reminds me of Bianca….'
They spent the rest of the time walking to the school in silence with nobody having anything else to say.
XxX
When they finally arrived at the school, Shinji broke off to the left while Percy deliberately went to the right to avoid him. Luckily they didn't have more than two classes together which was PE and History.
"That Shinji guy is something you know." Percy said.
"The blue-haired one? What's wrong with him?"
Percy's eyebrow rose. "Don't you remember in history class how he was? The dude's the textbook definition of a smug jerk. Fit with greasy hair."
Caren couldn't hold back the slight chuckle that came out of her. She did agree with him that he wasn't the nicest person. He also had the habit of lingering his eyes on her way longer than she was comfortable with. On top of that he was a potential master making him a priority to keep an eye on.
The day went on normally until they reached history class. When they arrived, Rin Tohsaka and Shirou Emiya were already there, sitting down next to each other. Percy could see their eyes immediately drawn to them.
They both knew the other was a part of the Holy Grail War. They were in the same room too.
'You don't think they would attack us right now right?' Percy spoke through their telepathic connection.
'No, they would have to at least wait until after school to do anything. They must keep the magecraft world a secret for the sake of Fuyuki." Caren answered, easing his worries.
'Still, this is going to be super awkward being in the same room as them.'
They were good people. Percy could tell that from a glance. It was just a shame that they were fighting for a cup that only one team could get. He didn't even know the reasoning as to why they wanted it, maybe it was something less selfish than his wish. Would that make him the bad guy?
Caren must have sensed his emotions as she spoke. 'Don't feel bad for them. The grail is better off in the church's hands than the Mage's association.'
Percy didn't answer back. Even with her words he was still unsure he was doing the right thing. But for now he would put it aside for later when they would be fighting them. Then he could get his answers.
Shirou and Rin Perspective
Rin watched as the master and servant duo entered the classroom. It was still weird to think that the man Archer fought yesterday, riding a beautiful horse was a servant. He looked very normal, almost modern without his armor.
Nevertheless he was dangerous, that much was clear when he fought off Archer and Saber. When they arrived home Rin wasted no time scouring her family's library of books for any mention of a teen with black hair riding a Pegasus. Her searches fell flat unfortunately but it didn't stop her from trying. She was the owner of Fuyuki, she could do it.
What was interesting though was what Archer had proposed. He said that there were writings on Rider's sword. And that they were Greek which had significantly narrowed down the region of where he was famous. The options that were available were a wide variety of heroes but the one person who accurately fit the description was Achilles and Perseus, two very famous figures in Greek Mythology. If that was the case then it would be imperative that her and Shirou teamed up. She already knew the identity of Saber which was the King of Knights, Arturia Pendragon.
She couldn't take credit however, Archer told her. She didn't know how he knew though. Still the fact pissed her off because if she had simply summoned her servant on time she would be the one with the strongest servant not her classmate (and slight crush, not that she would ever admit it).
Though she would be lying if she said she wasn't satisfied with her servant Archer, who somehow had an A-rank Noble Phantasm in his arsenal. He was probably about as much of a mystery as Percy.
'Archer. What do you think of Rider?' She asked him telepathically.
'He's… different. Not just in the combat sense but his spirit core. He doesn't feel like a servant.' Archer responded from up on the school rooftops. They were directly above him so it would be easy to phase through the floor and protect his master if need be.
'What do you mean he's not a servant? He definitely had a Noble Phantasm!' Rin protested.
'That's what I'm confused about.'
Rin sighed dejectedly. Too many questions and not enough answers. She still had to contact Kirei about this 'Ruler' servant too. She was so busy looking for clues about Rider that she didn't have enough time to contact the priest. Plus he was a headache in itself.
'Anyway, do you think you defeat him regardless?"
'Yes.' Archer stated seriously. 'He's certainly a formidable foe but I think if I deploy my Noble Phantasm I can defeat him.'
Rin hummed. 'I'll hold you to that Archer.'
'But do you have a plan? My Noble Phantasm can be deployed anywhere but it wouldn't be wise to use it unless absolutely necessary.'
Rin smirked. 'Of course. I already discussed with Emiya about it too and he agreed. We're going to strike them tonight and get it over with.'
She could feel his annoyance through their connection. 'That fool will find some way to screw it up. I still don't get why we're teaming up with them. It would be more beneficial to team up with Rider and his master than him and Saber.' Archer tried to reason. 'Saber is the strongest class and if she deploys her Noble Phantasm I will be hard-pressed.'
'Archer!' Rin raised her mental voice. 'I told you already that we're going to be working with them and that's final. Got it?'
'Hmph. If you say so Master.'
The conversation ended there as class resumed as normal. Master Kuzuki's monotone but firm voice drew everyone in as he talked about Oda Nobunga and her feats. Soon, school was over and everyone was getting their things from the lockers to go home. Hardly anyone was on the first floor.
Caren and Percy walked through the second floor, alert. Percy had already equipped his repaired bronze armor and Caren had her red cloth wrapped around her body like a snake.
It was time. They were going to end this.
For the sake of their wish.

AN: Done. Literally haven't updated since like a few days after my birthday. Mostly because of procrastination. I made a few drafts but ended up scrapping them because I didn't like them. I'm satisfied with this for now. I hope my readers are still here xD.
But yeah, a lot has happened and is going to happen. This chapter was more of a setup chapter and developing Caren's and Percy's relationship a bit more with the former seeing Percy's memories in the Lightning Thief. I'm probably going to have Percy see her memories too somewhere down the line. We'll see.
I didn't really focus on anyone else like Kirei, Ruler, Gil and others because I want to keep what they are doing kind of a surprise so look out for that. But things are going to get real and soon. I'm not planning on dragging this story to the ground, I want to have maybe like 25 to 30 chapters…? Depends on the demand. I kind of also want to do a Pj crossover with Fate Zero.
Anyways, next story thats gonna be updated is Professor Chiron so look out for that.
Until next time, wrath.
