Hikari never knew about the 'real world'. Like every child the young girl had a positive out look on life, her home and its people. Brought up in an isolated place she never heard about the horrors of this world, she never knew of the concept of a persons 'true nature', and never would she have thought that the people she trusted most, were the ones to betray her the worst.

'What's going on?' she thought as she ladled a spoonful of porridge to her face, blowing on it trice before stuffing it in her mouth. She turned to her mother who had been avoiding her gaze all day, then to her father who was abnormally quiet, and finally her brother, who was gripping his spoon rather forcefully, his porridge untouched and aura tense.

Bringing another spoonful to her mouth her trail of thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock on the door, her heavily pregnant mother turned to her and her brother before finally glancing at her father, who was already answering the door.

A man entered, he wore all black with a white cape, a strange headband wrapped around his arm with small, crossed out, rock drawings. Hikari tilted her head to get a better look at it.

Her brothers hand shot towards her pushing off of her seat and on to her butt before a hand reached her.

'E-eh?!' Hikari was too lost in a daze to realise that the man, tried to grab her, "No!" he yelled,

"You can't take her! Otosan! Okasan! You can't just give your daughter away! Imagine the things these thugs will do to her!" Hikaris eyes expanded, pupils dilated and tears brimmed from the words that left her brothers mouth.

'Give me away?-' "Okasan. What is niisan talking 'bout?"

Her mother broke out in a sob, "I'm sorry baby- we need the money-"

"Stop it! Stop spilling nonsense! Otosan could just work more, I could work more- hell even you could work a little bit! How the hell did you come to the conclusion that selling your daughter is the best way?!" Her brother yelled before her father stepped in front of him.

"Son you need to understand what our condition is, we already accepted the money so there's no turning back. She is the weakest link to the family their for the most expandable-"

"-Because she's a girl?! No I can't except it!"

He grabbed a knife from the kitchen counter, held it infront of him, and shielded his sister, who was still in shock. The rouge made a move to step in before the man of the house placed a hand on his shoulder, shaking his head, signaling to not intervene as he stepped forward.

"Son I need you to understand-" his pre prepared speech was cut short as Rens hands moved on their own, effectively stabbing him in the stomach.

Their mother screamed, catching the attention of the rest of the thugs outside, their father gasped before coughing out blood, Hikari started to cry as Ren started to shake before grabbing his little sister and running out the back door. The rouge pressed two fingers against the mans neck, before looking up to the woman.

"Dead." was all he said before getting up and going after the siblings, the now widow held her stomach and fell to her knees, crying and shaking.

The snow was deep, the air was sharp hurting her lungs as she and her older brother navigatet through the thick woods. The woods becoming thicker and thicker with each exhausting step.

Three black figures appeared in front of them causing Ren to come to a sudden stop. Once again he stood proactively in front of Hikari, before yelling "I won't let you scum lay a single finger on her!"

"Kid. Get out of the way so we can get what we came for." The eldest looking rouge sighed out, already done with the teens rebellion.

"OVER MY DEAD BODY!" "*Sigh* Verry well, if that's what you want" he took a step forward, Ren taking one back. And with a flick of the rist he effectively cut through the young boys throat.

The little girls eyes went blank, staring at her brother. Hearing his last words as he choked on his own blood. "Sur...vive.."

"She was quite the beauty, it's such a shame she died so young."

"Her along with the four other poor children. Akar-hiko must be so devastated, he lost all of his siblings in the span of just three months!"

"And the father, Tatsuki-sama must be completely heart broken, not only did he lose his wife five years ago, but almost all of his children in just one year!"

"Yes the world is such a cruel place for ruining this loving family!"

"I agree! They were all so close, perfect almost. The parents loved each other so passionately, the children were best of friends. It's just to sad!"

As the elderly women gossiped at the back of the funeral, an ash blond stood infront of his older sisters grave.

His blank expression was cover by his bangs, disguising his indifference to the girls passing.

He held a single white rose in his hand, he marveled the flower, twirling it in between his index finger and thumb before crouching and laying it on the grave.

He purposely crouched as low as possible so that the smoke of the incense would irritate his eyes, creating tears.

Glancing one last time at the framed photo of the fifteen year old he looked up to his father, whome was standing to his left. Before getting up and turning to face the crowd, just in time for them to see the tears roll down his porcelain skin, then running off.

"Niisan! No let go of me!-" The wails and screams of girl went quite as a hand pressed against her mouth.

Hikari squirmed and kicked against the ronins hold. Hot tears spilled out of her onyx eyes, down her cold cheeks.

Her bare feet froze in the cold snow that she kicked in the air so vigorously, her arms held behind her back, she shook her head trying to free herself as she watched her brothers lifeless body become more distant.

She was being dragged back to the old woden house.

Once out of the fisical woods, (but not the figurative one. 'Out of the woods means out of trouble and/or danger) she was grabbed by the hair and thrown forward, the woods now behind her. She stared at her mothers figure mourning over the lifeless corps of her father.

Three other men hovering above her. She turned to Hikari, her lip quivered before she spoke.

"Where- Where is Ren?!"

"This the girl?" One of the three men asked, already knowing the answer.

"Yeah it's her."

"Hm. She looks pretty, I like the green lines under her eyes. She'll definitely make some good money." The green lines under her eyes were a hereditary feature her family has, the lines were situated just under the water line that winged at the end of the eye, giving an upside down eyeliner effect. A contrast to her deadly pale skin.

"Yeah she will be, but she's a bit of a hassle. She wont stop squirming it's damn annoying!"

"Tch. Just knock her out then!" The third man mumbled over his shoulder as he gave her mother a small bag, "The rest of the payment as agreed. And some extra from accidentally killing your son"

"You did what?! You killed my son?!-" She yelled at him, "Tch. He got in the way, now shut your damm trap unless if you want you and your baby to go see him."

At this she quit her yelling.

"We gotta get rid of all evidence, you know that, right?" "Yeah..."

"Good, so you might wanna pack your belongings and say your final good byes to your son and husband before we set it all aflame." And with that, one of the shinobi performed some hand signs and set the two bodies and old house on fire, the burning house being the last thing Hikari saw before being knocked unconscious.
