Now that we're back in reality where SPIDER-MAN 4 did not actually happen, I have to give credit for this fanfiction experiment existing to an avid Spider-Man fan who cooked up the original premise and most of the words in this story are his. His pen name is KiloWhiskeyOscar and he cooked up this gem many years ago.
That being said, their were many grammatical errors in the original writing and I did my best to correct them to the best of my ability. I also made some minor modifications in some areas and and some major modifications in other areas. One of those major changes involved Gwen Stacy as being the love interest whereas in his original story it was still Mary Jane Watson. Gwen had a bit part in the story as well, very much similar to her almost useless role in SPIDER-MAN 3.
I felt that Gwen deserved more in the story and after having seen THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN series I became a huge fan of the character. So I removed the Mary Jane Watson character completely and tweaked the story to allow Gwen Stacy her time to shine. Hopefully that doesn't come off as sacrilegious to hardcore fans of the original romance between Peter Parker and Mary Jane.
This experiment of mine was created for the sole benefit of loving the story of Sam Raimi's original trilogy and for loving the continuation that KiloWhiskeyOscar had cooked up. It was sometimes a jarring read due to the many typos and grammatical errors which was one of the deciding factors of why I undertook this project in the first place.
I hope that this doesn't fall under the guidelines of bordering on plagiarism as I have also incorporated many new additions of my own into the story that I hope readers of his original version will also appreciate. Hopefully if he happens upon this story he will not take offense to what I've done and will appreciate it for the fan service that I intended it to be.
Now onto the future, KiloWhiskeyOscar wrote two other sequels to this and I fully intend on continuing the sequel trilogy in an alternate world where the Sam Raimi movies were continued. They will likewise be edited for grammatical errors with minor and major changes as well, complete with a production introduction similar to the one at the beginning of this story.
Let us hope that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire find the energy to come back for a fifth and sixth installment!
