Heir of the Immortals Resurrection
Chapter 7
Benedict Kine moved towards the shipping container holding his latest acquisitions, his body tense, the ground still vibrating beneath the souls of his expensive shoes. He could no longer feel Brandy or Michael. It was a shame; they were such useful tools.
Exhaling, he took a deep breath, focusing his biological powers inward. In a single step, his world came alive, colors were more vibrant, his body moved faster, muscles bulged ever so slightly. The fabric of his blazer tightened against his expanding arms.
Buttoning a single button in the center of his vest, Benedict arrived at the meeting spot. The light above him reflecting off his silver square-framed glasses.
The sound of the ocean lapping against the nearby ships filled his ears, and salt-filled air sent his grey hair fluttering. Blue eyes flicked from side to side, focusing on every shadow.
"No bodyguards today?"
Benedict spun around, the heel of his shoe slipping on the asphalt. Throwing his arms out to regain his balance, he stared at his contact for the magical world, Sirius Black.
A small smirk curled the lips of the man's bearded face.
Regaining his balance, Benedict narrowed his eyes upon the man.
Sirius Aries Black was 5'9" tall thin and wiry with healthy pale skin. A beard curled his lower jaw. Grey eyes like thunder-filled storm clouds stared at him. He was dressed in a white button-down shirt, black slacks, black dress shoes, and a long black trench coat.
"We seem to have visitors today."
"I guess we better hurry then," Sirius turned, his shoulder-length black hair lifting in the breeze. He turned towards the container, a large thing with dark blue paint that was chipped in many places. "How many did you get us this time?"
"Around twelve potentials, there are two actives."
Sirius glanced at him, "Did you remember to place each one inside the circles we showed you?"
Benedict slipped his hands into the pockets of his blazer, "Yes," he said in an exasperated voice. With his powers, it's not like he needed the man's mumbo-jumbo.
Sirius's grey eyes darkened, his hands clenched into fists and he stepped forward, "That mumbo-jumbo…"
A chill ran down Benedict's spine, he hadn't said that out loud.
"Keeps a mutant from using their powers, but the circles have to be maintained to work." He stopped before Benedict, grey eyes meeting pale blue, "Now are we going to have any problems?"
A bead of sweat ran down the side of Benedict's face, he may have removed his body's limiters, but he was no fighter. He swallowed, "No, no, everything's fine."
For a long moment, Sirius stared at him finally he turned his gaze upon the container, "If everything was fine your…" he glanced at Benedict, "bodyguards, acquaintances," he shook his head, "no, bodyguards is right. Would be here with us right now."
Benedict straightened to his full 5'7" height as his blood flowed hot. This man, this magic user, was disregarding him, his hand twitched, how he would love to make the man experienced the most exquisite agony, he shook his head, it wouldn't be worth it, and would most likely spell his death.
Without turning, Sirius flashed him another smirk. With hands in the pockets of his trench coat, he started forward, "let's take a look at our merchandise," he turned, eyeing Benedict, "I mean my merchandise."
"What about my money?"
"Once I'm sure everything is as it should be, you'll get your money."

Sharee Lori Collins opened her eyes, glancing at Tora, "They're coming."
"Hold on to something."
Tora's eyes shone with white light, giving her blue Iris is the color of ice.

Having stepped onto the boat, Sirius reached to open the container. Suddenly, his hand froze, inches from the doors. With a flex of his legs, he launched himself backward just as water exploded all around them, large liquid walls rising from the ocean below.
The water bent inwards, creating a poundcake-like shape.
Sprinting forward, Sirius's eyes flared orange as he neared the edge of the boat, leaping into the air. Streamers of fire curled around his body as he slammed into the water.
Steam exploded around him with a serpentine hiss.
Landing on the docks in a crouch, he turned just in time to see the oddly shaped water hardening into ice. Slowly, he rose to his feet, his wet hair slapping his face.
He turned to Benedict. The man was hunched over his hands on his knees as he fought to catch his breath. A layer of sweat on his face caused his glasses to slide down his nose.
"everything's under control huh?"
Benedict straightened, a tingle of fear going down his spine as he looked at the ship. If he wouldn't have released his body's limiters, he would've been trapped there. Grabbing a handkerchief from his jacket pocket, he dabbed at his forehead. "One of the girls must have some way to counter my abilities."
"If the runic circle was maintained as we told you to, this wouldn't be an issue." He turned back to the ship, "this inconvenience will be taken out of your payment."
Benedict opened his mouth to argue, but before he could say a word seaweed slithered onto the dock twisting together to form a human arm. The arm shot forward the fingers of its hands splayed wide.
Benedict cursed, this is exactly the reason he acquired Brandy and Michael.
Sirius took a step forward blue flames spiraling around his arms, burning away his trench coat and the sleeves of his dress shirt. Wisps of blue flames pooled on the ground from either hand. The skin on his body rippled as things shifted. He moved forward with the grace of a dancer.
With an upward flick of his left hand, a finger of the seaweed arm flew into the air. With a downward flick of his right, the hand was severed at the wrist. Bringing his fist closer together, he slowly began rotating each in opposite directions, creating a drill of fire.
With stiff arms, he stepped forward. He grunted as his makeshift drill slammed into the ice, the flames briefly flickering as the ice turned to water. Grey eyes flared orange and steam rose from his skin as the whips of blue fire solidified once more.

"That Sirius guy just killed my plant arm. How much longer can you keep up the ice barrier?"
Tora glanced at the algae-covered inside of the container, "How much longer can your algae continue to produce oxygen?"
"A while yet, but I would get out of here as soon as possible just to be safe."
"Agreed," Tora grunted her eyes shifting around to the many open spots in the container. It would be so easy to transform herself into water and escape but if she did that, she wouldn't be able to look at herself in the mirror.
Sharee stared at Tora. She knew this was putting a strain on her, and she wished she could do more to help, but for her powers to be at their most effective, she needed to be in contact with the earth. Her golden eyes flicked around her; was there an animal she could call for help? If there was, could she send it to its death? She glanced behind her at the other twelve people still unconscious in the container.

Kneeling on the arm of a crane, Herald stared down at the two individuals below him. A bit of telepathic power connected him to their minds just enough for him to be able to hear their words as they spoke them. In mid-battle, he didn't dare sink too deeply into Sirius's mind.
His gaze flicked to Benedict. He would be his first target; he was the weakest link. Red energy flared around him, spiraling about his arm as it slowly took the form of a chain, with an angular knife on the end.
Slipping the Psionic weapon between his fingers, he aimed at Benedict. Closing his eyes, he focused on his energy weapon, pouring his will into it to make sure it did what he wanted to on impact. Slowly releasing a breath, he flicked his wrist forward.

Benedict spun at a sharp crack, his body tensing as a whistling cut through the air. He staggered back as something sliced open his cheek. Regaining his balance, he ignored the warm liquid running down his face and stared at the translucent red energy blade sticking out of the ground.
As he watched, the chain and blade dispersed into specks of red energy. He spun, "We're under…" He was cut off as a dark blue blur slammed into him, knocking the breath from him and sending him rolling across the tarmac.
Body still vibrating with supersonic speed, Herald spun launching a blast of pure Psionic energy at Sirius Black's back.
Air whipped around the man, forming a small tornado that lifted him into the air. Electricity danced through the circulating wind. Eyes filled with bolts of electricity that made them look like cracked glass he grinned down at Herald, "And here I thought tonight would be boring."
Three streamers of electricity shot towards Herald.
Herald lurched to the side, the ground exploding seconds later, sending chunks of asphalt into the air. Wincing as small pieces pelted his skin, leaving behind small cuts, Herald eyed his opponent.
' So somehow Sirius Black could manipulate the elements. Wind for defense, lightning for offense along with fire from what he had seen. Earth should ground the lightning, and pierced the wind.'
Stretching his arm out to the side, Herald sent his will into the earth. A rectangular piece of tarmac three feet long separated from the earth. Blurring in a circle, he launched the asphalt at Sirius. Focusing his will upon it, he changed it in midflight.
The rectangle rolled and folded, becoming a sharp spike. His crimson eyes flashed as he layered it in telekinetic power.
Sirius stretched forth his hand, waves of force exploded from his palm, slamming into the spike.
The layer of telekinetic power flared on impact with the force and sent the spike careening off course into the ice that encased the container. It impacted the ice, sending spiderweb cracks through the frozen water. A large chunk fell to the ground, small snowflakes following in its wake.
With a step back, Herald rose into the air. 'That last attack was concentrated vibrations. Just what are his powers?'
Red energy flared from his hand, coalescing into a red translucent katana.
Lightning arced towards him. Using his blade like a shield, he was pushed back as the lightning impacted his Psionic construct. With a flick of his wrist, he redirected it into the ice.
An explosion shook the air and more ice rain to the ground.
He glanced behind him, noting that the corner of the container was now visible. Movement out of the corner of his eye forced him to focus back on the battle at hand.
Sirius Black shot towards him his arm outstretched his muscles bulging as his body grew larger.
'Element manipulation, and shapeshifting just what did Lilly do to this man to save his life?' Pushing himself to the side with telekinesis, he brought his sword down on his arm, only for another tornado to twist into existence around the appendage, blocking the strike.
Sirius flicked his arm, the tornado exploded outwards, sending Herald careening through the air like a meteor. He slammed into the corner of the container with enough force to dent the metal, crying out as his spine gave way under the impact.
Sirius grinned, his body dispersing into black smoke as he poured towards him.
Bringing his hands together, Herald bent the metal around him.
–XX –
Tora and Sharee swayed as impacts knocked them off balance.
Sharee glanced up at the ceiling, cursing her lack of connection to the earth, "What is happening out there?"
"It appears there's some kind of fight going on," Tora answered her eyes still glowing with power. Another impact shook the container, and a bead of sweat ran down Tora's face.
"For us or against us?"
"Don't know yet."
"Should we try to make a run for it?"
The sound of screeching metal pierced the air, a vibration spread throughout the floor as something impacted the far end of the container.
Both women's gazes snapped in the direction of the sound. Bodies tense, they rose to their feet, standing side-by-side as they moved in the direction of the sound.
A man lay in the shadows of the container.
Tora glanced at Sharee, "We need more light."
Curling her fingers, Sharee sent more Moss crawling over this corner of the container. Pale green light blazed outward, revealing the figure before them.
into the sea,The boy before them was about sixteen, given the length of his body, he was 6'2" tall. The pale light from the moss gave his dark blue skin an almost midnight black look. A torn blazer hung off his shoulders, revealing a bloodied white polo shirt beneath.
Tattered brown slip-on shoes barely clung to his feet, and his khakis were covered in grease.
"Is he dead?" Tora asked.
Sharee knelt, stretching a tan arm forward.
Red eyes snapped open and Herald grunted familiar information flooding his mind. Sitting up, he ground his teeth as bones shifted together as his wounds healed.
Sharee backed away, "Are you okay?"
Herald held up a finger. Slowly, he climbed to his feet, using his newly replicated and restored Hydrokinetic powers to pull the blood he lost into his palm. With barely any effort he formed it into an orb.
Tora took a step forward, "You're a Hydrokinetic."
Herald slowly looked around, "Among other things." He focused on the two women, "Are you two the only ones awake?"
"Yes."
Herald stared at the two women, he so badly wanted to read their minds and learn their history, but he couldn't.
The container shook, the folded over space where he had entered bent.
Using the plants covering the container, and his connection with metal, he could see a grayed image of Sirius Black standing on the spot where he had landed.
"Get back." Without looking around, Herald stepped forward. With a gesture, a spot on the wall became clear of moss. Placing his hands on the cleaned metal, he focused fire through one hand while manipulating the metal with the other.
The metal ran like putty under his touch as streamers of fire cut grooves through it. The orb of blood floating at his shoulder flowed into the grooves. With a sharp intake of breath, the metal cooled and the blood crystallized.
Placing his hand on the intricate circle of runes now molded into the metal, he pushed his will forward. Spinning around, he grabbed both women around the waist, crimson energy flaring around them as he created a bubble.
The wall exploded outwards in a cacophony of screeching metal.
Sirius's eyes widened; his arm frozen in mid-draw for another punch.
The metal bloomed outward's before folding around and in on itself until a long rectangular cube encased his body with only his face sticking out of the front. Deep runic lines shone with scarlet energy all across the surface of the cube.
Herald glanced around as he closed the distance between them, cursing as he noticed Benedict had escaped. Shaking his head, he stopped before Sirius. With a single look in the man's wide manic grey eyes, he knew he wouldn't tell him anything. Holding out his arm, a curved dagger of translucent red energy formed in his hand. Focusing his will and intent on it he drove it forward.
A sharp gasp echoed behind him as the blade pierced the man's forehead. Herald tensed as information flowed into his mind. As his muscles finally relaxed, a pink flash drew his attention. He spun to find a group of people standing behind them, their posture ready for a fight, a familiar face among them.
"Ororo Munro," he mumbled.
