Heir of the Immortals Resurrection
Chapter 12
Hermione Granger's wooden cane thumped into the tile floor as she moved around the pentagram. A strand of curly grey hair fell in front of a dull Brown eye. As she gazed at the five coffin-like tanks setting at the five points of the pentagram.
Symbols drawn inside the pentagram burned with purple light. A pink tongue flashed out over wrinkled lips. Stopping at the bottom of the pentagram, she raised her cane slightly.
Slowly, she looked around the room. It was a medium-sized circular room made of pale stone blocks. An octagon-shaped hole sat in the center of the dome ceiling. Curved symbols sat at the eight points of the octagon.
Five streamers of energy flowed up from the pentagram in the center of the room, merging with five of the eight symbols. The last three glowed a rainbow color that was a mixture of all the energies. Tearing her gaze away from the center of the octagon that shimmered like liquid glass, she stared at the coffin-like containers that sat at the five points of the pentagram, mentally naming each person within and the color they represented.
Lorna Dane, green, James Prindle, blue, Dia Sloan, red, Leonard Jenkins a.k.a. Blowhard, white, and Eva Bell a.k.a. Tempus, gold.
Each of these mutants offered something. Eva Bell possesses the ability to manipulate time, Blowhard had wind manipulation and generation abilities, Dia Sloan could alter reality, James Prindle could change matter, and Lorna Dane possessed almost unrivaled magnetic abilities as well as the ability to join metal with other substances.
She slammed her cane down on the tile floor, the loud crack echoing off the rounded walls. Raising a hand, she stared at the withered liver-spotted appendage. After escaping from earth 1610, she returned to Lily Potter. Lily was understanding about the setback to their plans, but the loss of Pomona Sprout could not be ignored.
For the next six months, Lily trained her to use her powers in a new way. By the end of her training, she could not only move through dimensions but also time. Using this ability, she was able to retrieve a piece of Pomona Sprout before her death.
Being a plant-parasitic alien born into a human body, all they needed to do was find a proper vessel. She shook her head, sending her silver strands swaying, she seems to be happy with it even if she was disconcerted at first that her original body died.
With all of her research gone, they needed a new way to empower the people. The five before them were captured. Using magic, they combined their powers to create a pocket dimension. From there, she and Pomona continued their plan.
She stared into the center of the pentagram, a tear in space shone brightly with multicolored energy. Through the tear was a massive tree with two faces poking out on either side.
With what they had learned from the mutants, Lily Potter changed their focus. Using her dimensional powers, Hermione was ordered to capture godlike beings from different worlds, so as not to alert their pantheons.
Moving across the pentagram, she stepped through the tear stumbling slightly on the uneven ground. A soft breeze brushed against her skin; warm sunlight shone from above.
Her Brown eyes surveyed the meadow as the wind sent the tall grass swaying back and forth. Even though it had been her expertise that created this realm, she found it disconcerting that there were no animals, but she supposed they couldn't spare the life force to create them.
Gripping her cane tighter, she moved towards the tree in the center of the meadow, the tip of her cane sinking in the fertile soil. Stopping before the dark almost black trunk, she turned her gaze to the silver leaves shielding her from the sun.
They shone like stars in the light, but what really drew her attention was the fruit the tree produced. A dark blue thing remnant of the night sky, glowing specks along its skin shone like stars.
Lily Potter named this fruit spark of the divine. According to Lily, the first person to eat the fruit, it would change anyone who ate it into something more than they were.
Slowly, her bony hand reached up to grasp the fruit, her fingertips curled into a fist just before she touched it and her hand dropped to her side, but her gaze never left the fruit.
Using her powers to travel back in time drained her life force, leaving her looking old even though she was not out of her 20s. Lily had promised her to reverse the damage, but she had to succeed. The fist at her side shook.
All her life she had striven to acquire knowledge and understand the world around her. When she discovered magic existed, she was ecstatic. Through Lily, her mentor, she had discovered many secrets and developed her unique power, but her pursuit of knowledge came at a cost.
She had nothing besides her work now, and more than half her life force was gone in pursuit of her research and serving the woman who changed her life. She gazed up at the tree, she would have her youth returned to her, and she would use it to have more in her life than work.
Turning, she strode towards the tear.

Floating in a sphere of telekinetic energy, Herald and Mary stared down at the Neverland facility.
It was an eighteen-story rectangular building made of white marble. Black glass windows offered a contrast to the white marble and separated each floor.
Herald eyed the glass double doors at the front of the building. Floating down words, the snow crunched under their feet as he shifted them behind the snowbank. The white landscape offered an almost perfect camouflage to the building.
Mary crouched down, her gloved hands resting on the knees of her combat fatigues. "What's with the black glass, if it wasn't for that this place would almost be invisible."
"If I was to hazard a guess, magic is probably involved. Plus, it protects their security from the sun."
Mary turned to look at him, strands of her Auburn hair flowing out from the balaclava bunched up around her head, "Security?"
Harald tilted his head back, the hood of his grey sweatshirt falling away to reveal his chosen form for the mission, lightly tanned skin, dark hair, and Emerald eyes. His nostrils flared as he took in a breath of air, "Graveyard soil, and old blood."
"Vampires," Mary hissed her hand drifting to the sword resting against the back of her dark T-shirt, "Where are they?"
Herald blinked, his vision switching from color to an array of pale blues and various shades of orange. "There's three on the roof, and six forming a circle around the building hiding beneath the snow.
I'll take the ones on the roof; you handle the ones around the building.
"Do yours first, I want to try something and it could draw attention. Once you're done, wait for me, and we'll enter the building together."
"Okay, now where's my targets?"
"There dressed to fully protect them from the sun, but you can't get rid of an instinctual fear that easily, so there sticking to the shadows."
Herald glanced at her. She was dressed in a form-fitting black long-sleeve T-shirt, black combat fatigues, a black balaclava that was curled up around her head, and black combat boots. Her sword resting against her back, the red tassel on its pommel flapping in the wind.
"You knew we were coming to a place with snow, why would you wear black knowing it would make it easier to spot you?"
Mary's lips curled, "I like the challenge." Pulling the balaclava down to cover her face, she vanished in a burst of telekinetic speed.

Mary ran across the snow, a layer of telekinetic force beneath her feet sending her bounding forward with each step. Closing the distance to the back of the building, she increased her speed. Adding more power to the telekinetic force beneath her feet, she ran up the wall, her Brown eyes glowing with blue energy.
Reaching the top of the building, she emerged onto the rooftop, her knees bent. One hand gripping the sword on her back. Swinging one foot in front of the other, she slowly moved around the perimeter of the roof, sending out telepathic pulses to check for enemies.
As she continued to circle the roof, her mind connected to those of her hidden enemy. Red eyes dimmed slightly as they fell under her power, becoming deaf and blind to her presence.
'Harald said something about there being three up here, but I'm counting six pairs of eyes.' Ducking into the shadows, she slowly removed her blade from its sheath, the oiled leather allowing the blade to come free silently.
Moving behind the first target, she took a moment to take them in.
A male of 5'3" stood before her, paper white skin was just barely visible beneath the eyeholes of his mask. Red eyes flicked back and forth, lingering on the sunlight-covered roof.
Pointed nails almost poked through the tips of his gloves.
Nodding, she lunged forward. Red eyes widened as the blade pierced their chest.
Tightening her grip on the blade, Mary sent a pulse of power through it. Blue flames spiraled down the blade disappearing into the vampire's body. His mouth opened as the flames turned his heart to ash.
Mary leaned forward, placing a hand over his mouth as smoke wafted out from beneath her palm.
Removing her blade from the body, it fell backward, turning to ash that disappeared on the wind. Flicking her blade, blue flames burned away the Brown blood smeared across it.

Herald knelt in the snow, water soaking through the knees of his jeans as he buried his hands beneath the frozen water. With a force of will, steam rose from the ground as snow began to melt. Closing his eyes, he could feel the snow around the hiding vampires shift into water.
By studying both his Hydrokinesis and Pyrokinesis he discovered how to manipulate the temperature of his environment developing the power of Thermokinesis.
Focusing on the water, he forced it through the pores of the vampires. The movement of the water sent ripples through the earth, giving him a clear view of the grounds of the facility.
Once the water was through the pores of the undead, he sent it traveling through the circulatory system. A burst of power sent the circulatory system freezing as the water traveled through the body. By the time it reached the heart every major organ had been changed to nothing more than ice sculptures.
Sinking his fingers into the earth, he sent a small tremor through it via Geokinesis. In his mind, he watched the insides of the vampire's shatter. As they shattered, more ripples were released, allowing him a more detailed view of his surroundings.
He frowned as the edges of a large runic array appeared in his mind. Given its depth, he couldn't make out much, but runic magic was the most stable and versatile of all the magic he'd been exposed to. To counterbalance that, it required a lot of setup, and depending on the ritual more maintenance than typical magic.
One by one the body-shaped blobs of grey that represented the vampires faded away as the bodies turn to ash. When the last vampire faded away, Herald opened his eyes, sweat running down his face from the amount of concentration it took to take out so many opponents simultaneously.
'It's done,' Mary said within his mind.
'Mine too, you go through the roof and work your way down, I'll go in through the front and draw their attention.'
'Why do you get to go in through the front?'
'Because out of the two of us I'm the one that can heal.'
Rising to his feet, Herald threw up his hood while shifting his skin to reflect his surroundings. Moving forward, he reached out with his mind, frowning as he found the security network of the building encrypted, "That's going to take a few minutes."
As he moved forward, he eyed the ash now mixed in with the snow. Reaching the front door, he opened it and slipped inside.

Albus Dumbledore strode through the halls of the Neverland facility, the lights above reflecting off his dirty blonde hair. Bright yellow eyes shone from a thin face with high cheekbones. A thin hand with long fingers rose to rub at the scars hidden beneath his dark two-piece suit.
Years ago, he had nearly been killed by a former experiment Flora Brandywine. It was only the remnant Phoenix blood in his veins that allowed him to come back when the sunset. Using the last of his stock he was able to resurrect Kenneth Crichton. Once back on their feet, both men contacted Lily Potter and moved here.
While he would've liked to keep the Phoenix blood for himself, Kenneth proved to be a good meat shield, a smile curled his lips, revealing elongated fangs, and he had helped him get his revenge in the end. It's a shame her plant-based abilities weren't permanent after he drained her dry.
He tilted his head back, his 6'2" frame arching as he sniffed the air.
"There is someone here." In a blur of black, he disappeared.
