Heir of the Immortals Resurrection
Chapter 19
Stepping back into their hotel room, Mary turned to Herald, "Are you sure it was a good idea to give Herbert your blood?"
Flicking his hand, Herald reached out with his mind. Combining telekinesis with transmutation, he began straightening up the room and removing their presence from it. "Before I gave it to him, I altered it slightly. If he tries to use something created from it against me, it will degrade rapidly."
Mary glanced around the room, her eyes lingering on the freshly made bed as she thought about the night before. She shook her head, "Fair enough, now what are you planning to do about the Magical you promised him."
"I think Narcissa Black has accrued some karmic payback after what she did to Sarah and Laura Kinney."
Mary linked her arm through his, "I like it."
"As much as I would like to just teleport in there and grab her, I think it would be prudent to spend the next few days watching the building."
"I am more of an action-based person, but given the fact we seem to be going up against an entire world, I agree." She glanced at him, one corner of her mouth curling upward, "however, before our little spy mission, we need to buy you some clothes."
"Can't I just keep shifting the clothes I have into what I need?"
"No, you've hidden from the world long enough, it's time you go out in it and experience things. Part of that experience is buying clothes."
Exhaling, Herald ran a hand through his hair, "Fine, but if I'm going to have to buy clothes, we're going to need a place to put them."
Mary shook her head, "At this point, I don't think it's a good idea for us to buy a residence."
Herald raised an eyebrow, "Oh, didn't you just get done telling me I needed to do normal things."
"Having a fixed base of operation would be nice, but it would also give our enemies a target."
"I agree."
"Then why did you mention buying a house."
"I was wondering how far you wanted to take this normalcy thing."
Mary stared into his eyes, "Couldn't you have just read my mind."
Herald cupped her cheek, "You are neither an enemy nor someone I need information from. Beyond that, if we're going to be in a relationship there needs to be a level of trust."
Mary stared at him, for so long she had fought with her other personalities. When she wasn't fighting with them, people were using her because of the abilities she possessed. Now, she had finally found someone that excepted all of her, and he was talking about trust. The experience made her world tilt.
Her stomach fluttered with uncertainty. She leaned forward, placing a kiss on his lips, "Thank you." She drew back, a smile spreading across her face, "Now, let's go get you some clothes." In a swirl of blue-black light, they vanished.

Two days later, Herald and Mary stood on a roof across from Hammer Industries. Combining his Hydrokinesis, with his Pyrokinesis and self-molecular manipulation, he was able to moderate his body temperature to that of his surroundings, while shifting his skin so that he was invisible.
Beside him, Mary used her advanced Psionic abilities, to bend the light around her.
Herald's eyes glowed. The building before him shimmered, becoming covered in a layer of green ones and zeros as he viewed the data running into the building.
"What did you see?"
"Unsurprisingly there's a lot of data running through the building." As he spoke, one of the zeros flowing across the building turned red. Within moments it began to spread. "I am taking control of the building's security system. The thing that concerns me most however is that we've been watching this place for two days, and security seems lax."
"So, what do you want to do?"
"We could watch the building longer, but the longer we wait the more likely it is for us to get spotted."
"We're going in?"
"Yes," slipping his hand into hers, Herald gripped it tightly before bending his legs. "Ready?"
Squeezing his hand in response, Herald and Mary launched themselves off the building. Shifting their density until they were intangible, formed a blast of air behind them that pushed them across the distance and through the wall.
Restoring their density, both tucked and rolled, their hands still clasped together as they came up in a Crouch their faces inches away from a metal desk.
Mary glanced at him, "That could have been bad."
"Think it's a good omen?"
"Don't jinx it."
Releasing Herald's hand, Mary rose to her feet and moved to the door as Herald looked around them.
They were in a moderately sized room with black carpet. The walls were covered in plain white plaster. A large metal desk sat in the center of the room.
Two wooden chairs covered in a dark green fabric sat before the desk.
Slipping his hands into his pockets, Herald moved around the desk.
Running his finger across the monitor screen, he frowned at the dust on his finger.
His gaze lingered on the empty basket at the corner of the desk meant for papers going out. He turned to Mary. "While you're over there check the filing cabinets," he nodded to the three filing cabinets beside the door.
With a flick of her hand, the cabinet slid open, a layer of telekinetic power across them dampening the sound. Peeking inside each one, she turned to Herald, "They're empty."
Herald closed the distance between them, "What are the odds we found the one empty office in the building?"
"It's a big building", Mary countered.
"Fair enough," Moving to the opposite side of the door that Mary stood on, Herald took a moment to take her in.
Her Auburn hair was pulled back into a ponytail, a long sleeve black shirt hugged her torso. Fingerless gloves covered her palms, and black tactical pants hugged her hips. The ends of the tactical pants were tucked into thick-soled black boots.
Catching his eye, Mary smirked at him, "I know we look good, but now is not the time for that."
With a glance, Herald took in his identical outfit. As he raised his head, something clicked within his mind. He could now see through all the cameras on the building's network.
With barely a thought, he changed the code so that he and Mary would not show up in the feed. A frown wrinkled his brow as he looked to the cameras.
"What is it?"
"According to the schematics of this building, there is a subbasement, but it's not on the camera feed."
"Which means they're hiding something. Do we check it out?"
Herald's eyebrows drew together as he thought, his lips pressed into a thin line, "That wasn't our goal in coming here, but at the same time something is pulling me to check it out."
"So, do we go after Narcissa first, or check out the basement?"
"With her owning the building, Narcissa has to have information about what's going on down there."
"Narcissa first then the basement," Mary nodded.
"With our plans changed, we're going to have to change the way we operate, which means taking certain risks."
Pulling a balaclava out of her pocket, Mary slipped it on, "I'm good with risk."
"That was never in question." Moving closer to her, he wrapped an arm around her waist while shifting himself to be invisible. Following his lead, Mary faded from sight.
With both of them ready, Herald wrapped telekinetic power around them and lifted them off the ground. Shifting their bodies to once again become intangible, they shot through the roof of the room.

In the top office of Hammer Industries Narcissa Black was bored. Her chin resting on her palm as she stared forward blankly. It was so much more fun in the old days, back when she was tasked to seduce Justin Hammer. Now all she did was run this outpost for Azkaban industries, and use certain elements to watch over Fabio.
Rising to her feet, she moved around the desk, pausing as she passed a mirror.
She guests she shouldn't complain, at ninety-one, she still looked in her prime. Standing at 5'6" tall with a curvaceous body that drew the eye, she knew exactly what her job was going to be from a young age. Not that she was disappointed, she loved the control she had over people with her lust abilities.
Her pale blonde hair flowed down her back in a stylized wave, position to hide her slightly pointed ears from the rest of the world. Her purple eyes had a permanent glow to them. Shaking her head, she ran a hand down the hip of the black dress that hugged her body.
Moving away from the mirror, she went to a small bar in the corner of the room and poured herself a glass. Maybe tonight, she could hunt, she bobbed her head once, that would lift her spirits.
Coming up behind the desk, Herald peered around it. With a sharp nod, he began counting down on his fingers. Once he reached zero, he blurred around the desk. Staying low, the world slowed down around him.
Narcissa spun, sensing something was wrong. She stretched her hand, lashing out with her magic.
A blast of pure force grazed his shoulder, the window behind her desk cracked as it impacted.
Dodging around her outstretched hand, Herald slammed a palm between her breasts, feeling the bones beneath his hand break.
She flew backward, slamming into a wall before falling and crumpling onto a black leather couch in the corner.
Stopping before the couch, he shimmered into view. With her eyes still glazed from the impact, he reached down and placed a hand on her forehead. Wrapping his power around her mind, he pulled.
Her back arched as streamers of pink energy flew from her mouth and eyes.
Herald stiffened as the energy flowed into his eyes and mouth.
Freezing as his mind sorted through the information, Mary closed the distance between them, "What was that?"
"That," Herald began his voice distant, "was me pulling everything from her mind."
"Everything," Mary asked looking down at Narcissa's still body. She grimaced at the drool that trailed from the corner of her mouth.
"Everything," Herald reiterated, his voice stronger as he came back to himself. Kneeling, he slipped his arms under Narcissa's body and rose to his feet. Cradling her in his arms, he turned to Mary, "I'm going to complete our deal with Herbert, do you want to come with me, or handle the subbasement."
Both their eyes shone as they connected their minds. After looking at the information Herald had collected from Narcissa, Mary shook her head, "It's better if I take care of what's in the subbasement."
Herald bit one corner of his lip, "I would prefer you wait on me to return, but I know that's not going to happen," he raised an eyebrow.
Mary shook her head, "It's a portal to one of their bases, destroying it, or gaining Intel from it could cripple them."
"Be careful, strangely Narcissa doesn't know what goes on down there. The only thing she could tell us was that this is used as a hub to transport the wizarding world's technology and distributed throughout the world. I'll keep our minds connected. If you need me, call." Creating a crimson portal beneath his feet, Herald dropped through the floor.

Mary sprinted down the hallway outside of Narcissa's office, the slapping of her feet on the linoleum echoing around her. Slamming through a metal door, she leaped over the railing of a stairwell, wind whistled in her ears as she plummeted to the floors below. Blurred images of spiral stairs shooting past.
Wrapping herself in a layer of telekinetic power, she slowed as she reached the bottom, gently touching down on the concrete.
Sending a pulse of power through her feet, she closed her eyes. Eyes still closed, she moved over to a section of the wall opposite the door that led into the building. Pushing power into the space, the outline of a door glowed with blue-black energy. With a slight push, it swung inward.
Stepping into a concrete hallway. Small tubes lining the floor and ceiling burst to life with green light. Making her way down the short hallway, she stopped before a large metal door.
In the center of the door was a complicated circular lock. In the center of the lock was a red circle. "Retinal scanner," she muttered with a shake of her head.
Placing a hand over the retinal scanner she closed her eyes, pushing her power into the door. Beads of sweat ran down her face and her arm shook as she forced the mechanisms inside the door to move. With a screech of metal and a ping of something breaking, the door shifted beneath her hand, allowing Mary to push it open.
On the threshold, she froze, her breath steaming on the air. Before her, stretched a large circular room. Narrow shelves containing vials of red liquid highlighted in fluorescent blue light filled the room.
Moving to a podium in the center of the room, she placed her hand on its glass top. Names began to fill the glass. Scrolling through the names, she flicked her wrist, moving on to other data, her eyes widened at what she found.
'Herald,' Mary thought reaching out to their connection, 'when you get done with Herbert, you're going to want to see this.'
–XX –
Stepping onto the desert of counter earth, Herald shifted Narcissa in his arms.
"That was quick."
Herald looked up to find Herbert floating before him, "I could say the same to you."
"Since you were here last time, I made some changes so that I would know when someone entered my domain." He stretched forth a hand, the metal of his armor gleaming in the light, "Is this her?"
Yes, Herald moved forward to hand her over, but Herbert raised his palm.
Her body floated into the air.
Cradling the woman in his arms, Herbert looked down at her his lips pursed, "You destroyed her mind, a pity."
It was more accurate, that he ate her mind, but Harald wasn't going to tell him that. "I have kept my end of the deal."
"So, you have," holding out his left hand, Herbert's white eyes flashed. A basketball-sized metal sphere appeared floating above his palm. Turning his hand upwards, he pushed it towards Herald.
Stopping the sphere with a thought a foot away from him, Herald reached out with his Technopathy. In a moment, the orb disassembled, his eyes scanning over each of the pieces as he memorized its function, and how it did what Herbert claimed.
Herbert cocked his head to the side.
One by one, the pieces burst into white flames, catching Herbert's look, Herald cleared his throat. "Information is more valuable to me than the device itself," his lips twitched, "Besides I think I can make a few improvements."
Herbert's eyes narrowed as Mary's voice spoke into his mind. 'Herald, when you get done with Herbert, you're going to want to see this.' Turning away from Herbert, Herald began walking, "It was nice doing business with you Herbert, I hope we can have a profitable relationship in the future."
Before Herbert could speak, Herald vanished, his body folding in on itself.
