To all my Black and White Readers: Please be aware I will be continuing that story in the New Year! I am going to be away for a while so I decided to leave something for you all in the meantime, please enjoy this story I completed a few hours ago!
So this idea came at about 2:43 am on 12 December 2019 and I haven't been able to forget it. Essentially what would have happened had Life is Strange and Harry Potter, shared a universe? I'm about to try and explore that now.
Summery: After a large flux of magic was registered at the American Ministry for Magic they are sent Harry Potter -who defeated Voldemort a few years prior- to investigate the anomaly. During his investigation he uncovers a deep conspiracy and an enemy he's never faced before; Time.
This story is set in recent times. So the events of the Harry Potter series happened during the 2000's rather than the 90's, meaning Harry was born in 1994 rather than 1981 and would have defeated Voldemort in 2011 and not 1998.
PLEASE SEE THE AUTHOR'S NOTES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS FOR MORE CHARACTER INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING ON TO THE NEXT CHAPTER!
I do not own Harry Potter nor Life is Strange, rights belong to J.K Rowling and Dontnod Entertainment, respectively.
I hope you all enjoy the story!
Chapter 1
Harry Potter aged 19 sat in the Minister's waiting room contemplating his breakup with Ginny. Mrs Weasley wasn't exactly jolly when they broke the news to the family but they had come to the decision after they had had another one of their disagreements.
It wasn't so much that they fought but rather couldn't see eye to eye on certain things. Harry had wanted to settle down as soon as possible and raise a family, but Ginny had just signed a 5 year contract with the Hollyhead Harpies. They had sat down about six months ago to discuss everything, when they learned of each others plans.
"So, what? You expect me to just give my life up and pop kids out for you for the rest of my life?" Ginny had asked coolly.
Harry sighed tiredly. "That isn't what I'm saying Gin. I just thought you'd talk to me before signing a 5 year contract."
"I know, I just... I guess after everything, I just want to, you know... get away for a while." she said in a small voice.
Harry paused for a bit before sighing once more. "Fred?"
"Yeah, but not just him, it's everything. We aren't kids any more, Harry. The war, the Dark Lord, all of the deaths... it changed us."
"I know, I guess I just hoped everything would fall back to how it was before."
"I hoped for the same, but it's not, not after everything. We're just not the best fit, maybe... maybe if the war hadn't happened and you were just a normal guy, then we could have worked but..." Ginny drew a shaky breath before speaking again. "Harry, I think we should..."
Harry swallowed his denial, he wanted to fight for their relationship. Tell her that they could make it work, but he knew she was right, before everything happened they might have had a chance, but they barely knew each other then and now... with everything that happened. Harry commended her, she was clearly the more mature one between them.
"Yeah... you're right."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I should have known that you'd want to live your own life, I'm not mad, a bit sad but, I want you to be happy and I'm not going to stand in the way of that."
"I'm glad you see it that way, but you should get out there too. I mean you don't really work for the Ministry so you don't need to be here all the time. You could get assignments from anywhere."
Harry chuckled. "You're right, I probably should, I'll talk to Kingsley about taking a break. So when do you go to the Hollyhead's facility to start your training?"
Ginny winced slightly. "About a week from now."
Harry blinked in surprise. "Wow, alright, well I guess we'll have to tell your family soon then."
Ginny winced once again. "Mum won't be happy."
"I have a feeling we're going to be in for an earful."
Harry shook his head to bring himself back to his current challenge.
"Harry? The Minister will see you now."
"Thanks Su." Harry said with a smile as he nodded to the Asian girl who was in his year at Hogwarts.
He walked through the door and shut it behind him before walking over to where Kingsley Shacklebolt was sat signing a few documents.
Harry took a seat and waited patiently. Finally the Minister looked up and greeted him.
"Potter."
"Shack, how's it going?"
Sighing tiredly Kingsley shook his head. "There's so much happening, we're still trying to reorganise the Wizengamont, several Department Heads need to be selected and we need to establish a new working relationship with several other Ministries after Fudge royally stuffed up our relations during the Voldemort issue."
"Sounds tough." Harry said sympathetically.
"It is, but never mind all that, how's it going with you?"
"Oh you know, just trying to figure myself out after the break up. It was tough in the beginning but I think I'm okay now." he told the older Order member.
"Oh, I'm happy to hear that and sorry for the break up, I know it couldn't have been easy to deal with."
Harry waved away his apology. "It happened a while ago and it was somewhat mutual, we both knew it just wouldn't work after... everything."
Kingsley nodded in understanding.
"But I actually came to ask a favour of you." Harry said, getting to the point of his visit.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I think it would be best if I took a little time off, you know, see the world. Rediscover myself outside of The-Man-Who-Conquered."
"Really?"
Harry paused for a second, the tone of Kingsley's voice made him slightly nervous.
"Yeah... I think it would do me a bit of good to be away from the Wizarding World for a while. Go muggle for a few months, hell maybe even years."
"Well, what do you plan to do while you're away, I mean, how long do you think you'd be able to do nothing for?"
Now Harry was definitely suspicious.
"What is it, Kingsley?"
"What do you mean?"
"Don't pull that shit with me, you're building up to something what is it?"
Kingsley smiled at the younger man.
"Remember I mentioned building a relationship with other Ministries?"
At Harry's cautious nod he continued.
"Well, I just had a conversation with the American Ministry who mentioned a strange fluctuation of powerful magic in a mainly muggle area."
"Okay?"
"So in hopes of building a working relationship with them, I offered one of our best to investigate."
Harry narrowed his eyes at the man. "And when did you plan on telling me about this?"
"Well, I had hoped to tell you today, it was just luck that you happened to be here."
"And why should I help with some magic being done in a muggle area, why not just send some of their own Obliviation squad and get it over with?"
"You can't obliviate an entire town."
"An entire town? That's a damn shame." Harry replied, while looking at his nails.
"They experienced a sudden snow storm, in the middle of October."
"We've been getting warnings about Global Warming for years now, who would've thought that crazy bastard; Al Gore was right?"
"Good God Harry, please just investigate it all right? If it's nothing then you can take your vacation and we'll even continue to pay you." Kingsley asked desperately.
Harry seemed to regard Kingsley for a moment before sighing tiredly. "Fine, fine. When do you want me to go?"
"Within the next two hours. You'll Portkey to the American Ministry and they'll give you all of their findings there."
"What if I had said no?" Harry asked curiously.
"I knew you wouldn't have. You're way too curious and care about people too much to let something like this just slip past you. Though I didn't expect you to be as difficult as you were."
Harry shot the older man a glare. "Next time, don't try to manipulate me and I'll be a lot more cooperative."
"I know, I'm sorry. It's just, we've usually tasked you with consultant work. This is big, I was worried you'd be nervous about it. Bringing it up casually felt like the best option."
Harry sighed. "I figured it was something like that. Just be honest with me next time, Shack."
"I will, thanks again Harry."
"No problem." Harry said as he stood and walked over to the door. "So I suppose clothes and money will be sorted out?"
"We've got a few change of clothes and a few thousand Galleons waiting for you at the Portkey station."
Harry nodded and opened the door. "By the way, Shack. Work on your manipulation skills, you're a politician now." With a grin he left the room and walked towards the International Portkey Department.
-Magic is Strange-
Harry left the Ministry and went to Grimmauld Place to gather some clothes and a few rune clusters, he figured wherever he was headed wouldn't have any protection wards and decided that he'd rather be safe than sorry at his new location for a bit.
Sighing he checked over his bag and saw he had a few change of clothes, at least enough to last him about a week or two before he'd have to worry about getting more. He sighed again and thought to his friends who he would definitely have to inform of this new assignment before he left. Checking his clock he noticed he had about an hour and a half before he had to be at the Ministry to collect the Portkey.
He walked over to the Floo and grabbed some powder before throwing it into the fireplace.
"Saint Ottery!" he called as the flames turned green and he stepped in.
Hermione and Ron had bought this small place from Bill and Fleur once the war had ended, as the married couple decided that living nearer the Burrow would be best for not only their jobs at Gringotts but also for Bill's mother, who could see her grandchildren as often as possible.
Harry stepped out of the flames managing to retain his balance and looked around the home, it was redecorated at Hermione's insistence. It felt more... homely since Harry had last arrived. He walked in further and gave a shout for either of his friends.
Ron came jogging in, fixing his multi-coloured tie and shot Harry a happy smile.
"Harry, mate! Hi! What're you doing here?" Ron asked as he approached his best friend and gave him a hug.
"Hi Ron, I just came to let you and Hermione know that Kingsley's asked me to take on a new assignment."
"Ah, that thing with the Americans? I heard about it through 'Mione." Ron provided with a shrug.
"I should have known, but yeah, and I was thinking I'd take a vacation once everything's done, you know?"
"Blimey, Gods know you deserve it, Harry. I get it, just, don't forget to write every now and again, lest Hermione's ire gets turned on me." Ron said with a small laugh.
Harry joined in with the laughter and noticed his friends attire. "Helping George with the shop today?"
"Yeah, he and Angelina have an appointment with a Medi-Witch this morning so I said I'd cover for him, he doesn't trust the new kid alone in the store just yet." Ron said as he tightened the knot around his neck.
"So they're looking to start a family, hey? I'm glad."
"Yeah, so am I. He really took the loss of Fred hard, but Angelina's been a good influence on him. Something he really needed. Now he's almost back to being normal. Almost. There are still some days... well I'm sure you can imagine."
Harry nodded sympathetically and slapped his friend on the shoulder.
"Well, I'd better head off to the Ministry and let Hermione know before I'm off." he said with a quick hug.
"Yeah, and I'd better head off to, don't want to miss those two before they leave."
The pair said their goodbyes and each stepped into the Floo, going to their separate destinations.
-Magic is Strange-
Harry made his way to the Auror department in search for Hermione when he caught sight of Susan Bones.
"Hey Sue." he greeted happily.
"Hello Harry, long time since we've seen you around here." she said with a smile.
"Yeah well, not very much consulting jobs around lately, so blame yourselves for doing such a good job."
Susan laughed at that. "So I assume you're looking for Hermione?"
"You would assume correctly."
"She's just finishing up with the Head, should be out soon."
"Right thanks Susan."
Just as he walked past her desk and gave a quick nod to Seamus who seemed bogged down by paperwork he arrived at the Head office, seeing the name Hestia Jones tagged on the door he leaned up against the wall and waited.
It was another two minutes before Hermione came out she turned to him and smiled, Harry quickly snuck his head in and waved at the Order Member who smiled and waved back before he caught up with Hermione.
"What are you doing here?" she asked while she gave him a hug. "I didn't know there was something that needed consulting."
"No, no, I just came to let you know that Shack asked me to take a look at what's happening in the states and offer my help if it's needed."
"Makes sense." Hermione said with a nod of her head. "It's really weird business, those fluctuations and snowstorm. It's almost like someone's throwing the universe out of whack."
"I'm just curious as to why it's only affecting that one town and nothing outside of it." Harry told her.
"Could be a number of reasons, but I know you'll find those out." she said with a small laugh.
"Also, I'm thinking of going on vacation after everything's said and done. I need a break and I don't know when I'll be back."
Hermione stared at her friend for a while, Harry could see the worry lines forming on her brow.
"I'm fine 'Mione, and no this has nothing to do with Ginny. It's all me, I just want a break away from all of this for a little while."
"Okay Harry, I believe you. I hope you have fun at least, promise to write when you get the chance?" she asked with a smile.
"Of course." Harry said with a smile as he hugged her close.
"Last I heard she was in Italy." he heard Hermione whisper in his ear.
Harry stepped back and gave her a look.
"I'm sure, Sicily to be a little more precise."
Harry seemed to digest this information for a bit before smiling and hugging Hermione again.
"I have to go now, but thank you for that." he said with a smile.
"Of course, I'll always help you out."
Harry smiled at his friend once more and turned to leave the Department, making his way to the Porkey station. Once he arrived he was greeted by a pretty girl with a blonde hair and was lead into a room with two other occupants.
"Potter." the man in the room greeted with a nod.
"Hello."
"My name is Gregory Tibblit, and this is Martha Jugston. This portkey will take you directly to the American Ministry's atrium, from there you will be greeted by a representative who will give you the mission details."
"Alright, and when does the Portkey activate?"
"In exactly ten minutes, sir."
"Thank you, Mr Tibblit." Harry said before turning to Martha Jugston.
"Mr Potter, this pouch contains your budget for the mission consisting of thirteen thousand Galleons."
"Jesus..." Harry whispered. "That's a fair bit of money."
"You are welcome to access your personal vaults should you feel like the amount is insufficient."
"I don't think that will be an issue." Harry said with a small chuckle.
"Mr Potter, the Portkey will activate soon." Tibblit said.
"Alright thanks again." Harry said grabbing the pouch that undoubtedly had an expansion charm placed on it.
Before he could blink Harry felt a hard tug on his naval and was suddenly thrust into a world of colour and breathlessness. After a minute Harry landed in a room filled with other people and bent over to get air back into his lungs.
"Welcome Mr Potter."
Looking up Harry saw a petite woman with dark hair cascading down her back.
"Hi."
"We're glad you could make it. If you would be kind enough to follow me, I'll lead you to the Madam President." she didn't wait as she turned and walked in a random direction.
Harry blinked before standing and jogging after the woman before finally catching up. As they walked through the Ministry Harry was treated to a very different looking Building then the one he was so used to.
House elves polishing wands, working the elevators, working as secretaries. The bright colorful world clock which hung in the middle of the atrium. The ceiling seemed to go on forever with no end in sight, it was truly a marvellous place.
"God, I love magic." Harry whispered in awe.
The woman beside smiled at his declaration before leading him to the elevators. There was one there waiting as the woman approached the House elf within spoke.
"Ah, Thornbell. This the guy then?"
"Hello Vinny, yes, this is Mr Potter."
After a hum of recognition the two entered the lift and were suddenly shot up to the higher levels. After a little bit Harry heard the bell ding indicating that they had arrived on their floor and stepped out along with Thornbell.
They continued down a long hall before arriving at a door.
"The President will see you now." she told him with a kind smile.
"Thank you." Harry returned the smile and went in.
When he entered the room he saw a wide range of different nick nacks and various magical items. If anything it reminded him of the Headmaster's office while Dumbledore was still there.
"Ah Mr Potter please, have a seat."
"Thank you, but please call me Harry."
The Madam President regarded Harry for a moment before continuing.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr Potter, I am the Madam President, Miranda Holt."
Harry suppressed the urge to frown at her dismissal to address him more casually and simply nodded.
"Pleasure to meet you too, President Holt."
The President an elderly lady with dark hair with hints of grey peeking through tied in a tight bun stared at him calculatingly. Harry could feel her scrutinizing him and resisted the urge to squirm under her intense gaze. Definitely McGonagall vibes radiating from this woman.
"Mr Potter I was informed by your Minister that you were here to assist us with the large magical surge we discovered yesterday."
"Yes Ma'am, I was told to help you anyway I could."
"Very good, so this is the scenario. The surge was discovered in Arcadia Bay, Oregon. Before yesterday there was little to no magic activity in that area then it suddenly lit up like a damned Christmas tree. We have no idea what caused it and are cautious to send in any Investigators.
"Understandable." Harry said with a nod.
"We've narrowed down the probability to a school in the area. Blackwell Academy."
"A school?" Harry asked with a frown. "A magical student?"
"No, this isn't an elementary or high school, it's a College, more aptly it's an Art College. One of the best in the country to be honest."
"Ah, alright, so what is it you would like me to do?"
"We'd like you, Mr Potter to infiltrate the facility as a student and discover what the disturbance is."
Harry nodded.
"And, what would you like me to do once the culprit is found?"
"You will communicate it with us and we will take care of it." the President told him sternly.
Harry raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. At his silence President continued.
"We have already enrolled you in the school. You will be attending immediately. Your Minister informed us of your art hobby and as such we have enrolled you in several classes regarding the subject, along with chemistry, mathematics and history."
Harry nodded and reached for the folder she had handed him.
"In that folder are all the documentations you will need. Name, Age, Previous Schooling and Government funding aid."
"Government funding aid? I could pay for it out of my vault."
"Mr Potter you will only be here during the investigation. How else would you explain the sudden cease of funds? This way we can say that the funding stopped or that we found you unworthy to continue endorsing." she told him bluntly.
"Right, alright then."
"Any questions?"
"Yes, where is your Gringotts situated? I would like exchange some of the Galleons for muggle money sometime soon."
"Alright, Miss Thornbell will be able to assist you with that on your way out." she told him.
Knowing a dismissal when he hears it, Harry made his way towards her door.
"Before you leave, Mr Potter, may I be frank?" she asked giving him a look he couldn't place. He nodded and she continued.
"I don't like the fact that you're here, I firmly believe that we can handle this issue ourselves, but as previously seen, you Britts decided you know better, and forced your way into the situation. As such, I will tolerate your presence but I will not tolerate any disobedience. I don't care if you killed a Dark Lord, should you in anyway give me a reason to believe that you are going against my word I will order your immediate arrest and throw away the key. International incident or not."
Harry was surprised by her declaration and turned back to her.
"Madam President I understand your position and like I said I'm here to help, not take over the entire situation. But understand I do not take well to threats placed against my person. I will do everything in my power to ensure that all parties in the situation are treated fairly and are within the law. Us Britts may be hard headed but if rumours are to be believed you yanks aren't the most level headed when it comes to preserving the Statue of Secrecy." Harry responded.
He saw the Presidents eyes flare slightly before she waved him out of her office. He met up with Ms Thornbell who lead down the hall and towards the entrance of the elevator. As they made their way down, Thornbell spoke.
"You shouldn't make an enemy of the President." she said.
"I simply told her my stance and gave her a taste of her own hypocrisy."
Nothing else was said as they arrived at the atrium. She lead him towards a man in an immaculate suit who nodded at her and turned to Harry.
"Mr Potter, good day, my name is Timothy Johnson, we will be portkeying to Blackwell Academy." the man said while he handed Harry a pocket mirror. "This is a..."
"Communication Mirror. I'm familiar." Harry said with a small smile remembering Sirius.
"Very good, if you have any information you feel is worth sharing, contact me. Now then. Are we ready?" he asked as he presented the tin can.
"As I'll ever be." Harry responded with a shrug.
"Okay, Blackwell." Once the activation phrase was said Harry felt a pull once more before being pulled through and landing in an alleyway.
"It is currently 7 am you should have a meeting with the principal to get your things in order, go to the head office and they should be able to help you."
"Oh before you go, I meant to ask Miss Thornbell, but it slipped my mind, would you mind telling me where Gringotts is situated so I can exchange some of my Galleons?"
"Of course." Johnson pulled out a notepad and scribbled a few lines on the page before handing it to Harry. "These are coordinates to the Gringotts bank. Should you simply go to any internet café and plug these in they will show you where to go."
"Alright, thanks again Mr Johnson and I'll contact you immediately should I find something." Harry said happily while looking at the slip of paper.
"Please ensure that you do. Ministry." the man said before popping away.
Harry looked around and took a breath before walking out of the small alleyway and was immediately stunned at what he saw.
"This isn't a school, it's a bloody mansion." he said appreciatively.
After admiring the view he jogged up the steps and headed into the main building. He was greeted by a few students meandering through the halls going to their lockers or just talking amongst one another in the hallways. He looked around for a bit seeing all the school posters.
"Missing Person: Rachel Amber. These are bloody everywhere." Harry muttered to himself as he noticed at least five on the school doors. He shook his head and focused on some of the others.
"The Blackwell Otters, huh? Well, coming from a school with a lion, snake, eagle and Badger as their mascots I guess this isn't that weird." Harry said with a small chuckle.
"May I help you?" a deep voice said from behind him.
Whirling around with his hand ready to extract his wand he came face to face with a bald, dark skinned man wearing a three piece suit and looking quite strict. Ah, the American Kingsley. He should have known.
"Yes sorry, I'm a bit lost. My name is Harry Potter. I've been transferred here."
"Ah yes, the new student. It is quite surprising to have someone transfer here a month into term." the man said with a raised brow.
Not knowing what to say Harry simply shrugged his shoulders and smiled boyishly.
"My name is Principal Wells, come join me in my office." the man said leading Harry to the first door on the right hand side of the hallway.
From there he saw a receptionist sitting behind a desk who smiled kindly at him as he passed. Harry smiled back at her before entering the Principal's office and was greeted by a lot of artwork and weird statue of an eagle on the man's desk.
"So Mr Potter. Let us just take a look at your file here shall we?" the man said pulling out a copy of Harry's documentation. "Let's see. Hmm, it says here that you went to school in England up until you were eleven, then went off to a private school, is that correct?"
"Yes sir." Harry said, waiting for him to continue.
"Hmm, I'd never heard of this school before now. I even tried looking it up but there was no information on it at all. Hogwarts; tell me why a private school wouldn't want their information on the internet?"
"Well, I didn't really think to ask sir, but if I had to guess I would think it's due to the fact that it prides itself on it's secrecy. It's by invite only, due to the fact that many of the student's are children of many political and highly influential figures which is also a massive reason as to why you can't find it online." Harry responded naturally.
"Political figures, it says here that you are an orphan so if you don't mind me asking what happened to your family?" Wells asked looking up at Harry.
Jesus, the guy was unforgivably blunt.
"Well, they were killed when I was young by a terrorist who was offended that they wouldn't join his cause. They had managed to register me in the school before that happened though."
"I'm sorry hear that, Mr Potter. Well, let's see your marks shall we?" He looked over Harry's marks from school. "I see you did rather well with a few exceptions. Namely Chemistry?"
"Ah, well, our professor was not the... greatest teacher. He did a lot for the school and was renowned in his field by many but didn't have the patience for children."
"Hmm?"
"But I have since been doing a lot of self study and I believe I've gotten myself up to a reasonably good standard." Harry added quickly.
"Well, I guess Miss Grant will be the judge of that. Well, I have to say, Mr Potter I am rather excited to see what you do here at Blackwell and what you can bring to the table." With that Principal Wells stood and walked around the table and handed Harry a small envelope.
"This is your class schedule, locker number and combination as well as your room number and key for the on board housing."
Wells looked around before speaking again.
"Speaking of housing, where are you belongings?"
Harry blinked before smiling and speaking again. "Oh I'll get them a little later." Harry said with a lazy wave.
Shrugging Wells stood and Harry followed suit. "It was nice meeting you Mr Potter and I hope I don't see you in here any time soon." Harry forced a laugh at the horrible joke and left the office before proceeding out of the building. It was just then his stomach let out an unholy growl, but he needed to check his room to know what he needed before he got anything to eat, besides he had no idea where to find food around this town in the first place.
So with that in mind he walked down the steps and looked around before seeing a walled off section with an opening walking up to it he looked to the left and saw "Student Boarding".
"Brilliant." Harry said with a nod before walking through, he saw the parking lot he assumed it was student parking and walked towards another gateway and saw a large building on his left. There he saw a boy standing outside on his phone. Walking up to him Harry figured it would help and be quicker if he just asked.
"Hi there."
"Oh! Err, Hi."
"I'm Harry, I just transferred here." Harry said with a smile.
"Oh, I'm Warren. So you're British huh? You a big Doctor Who fan?" the boy; Warren asked with a grin. God Harry hoped they weren't all like this.
"Not really, it wasn't really on my radar." Harry said with a shrug.
"But it's the show of your people!" Warren said with genuine shock.
Harry, of course knew what he was talking about but he honestly stopped being entertained the moment he started.
"Okay, look could you tell me where room 112 is?" Harry asked
"Oh let's see here, Alright, if you go in and take a left then a right, you'll come to a set of stairs, take those up to the second floor and you'll find the room either on your left or right."
"Thank you." Harry said before headed in. Ignoring the boy's shout asking him about his luggage.
Once Harry followed the instructions he found the room and entered. He saw a nice looking bed as well as a desk and a few other things, like a wardrobe and a small couch on the side. Well at least the bare essentials were handled. Now he just needed clothes and a few materials. If he was going to pretend to be a student again he was not about to half-arse it. Making a mental note Harry left the room and felt his stomach again. Dammit he really needed food.
Thinking that randomly asking the kids he didn't know to track coordinates for him would be rude he headed back downstairs and out the entrance and found Warren still standing there.
"Hey, could I borrow your phone for a second?" Harry asked pointing to the device in the boys hand.
"Oh uh, what are you going to do with it?" the boy asked with a suspicious look.
"I just need to search something really quick." Harry told him.
"Okay... Just don't search any weird shit, all right?"
"Sure thing." Harry told him before grabbing the phone and opening the Google app.
While his Aunt and Uncle had prevented Harry from interacting with many things when he was younger. Once he had gone by to tell them that the threat of Voldemort was no longer an issue, his cousin; Dudley had apparently grown up and asked if they could hang out for a bit. While it was weird and awkward at first they found a common ground through the internet which Dudley had introduced Harry to and found great pleasure in seeing him utterly baffled at what they could find with a few words.
Long story short, Harry wasn't completely useless when it came to the internet and other electronic devices. He punched in the directions and saw where it was situated. It wasn't in the town but rather in Salem. Harry had to pause his thoughts on the witch burnings and focus on the map.
"Hmm, what's in Salem?" he heard from behind him.
Turning quickly Harry saw Warren looking at him curiously.
"Something I need. Thanks for the phone." Harry said quickly deleting the search history and giving it back to him.
"Oh come on man, I had things I needed on my history."
"Then bookmark them, I got to go... Oh by the way. Where would a guy find food around here?" Harry asked the boy.
"The two whales in town." he answered sourly, while he tapped at his phone with a pout.
"How do I get there?" Harry asked.
"There's a bus it leaves around 9 am. It goes through the town and makes a stop by the diner." Warren told him.
"Thanks." Harry said before rushing to the parking lot and looking around. He didn't see anyone and made doubly sure that there were no cameras pointed in his direction before turning sharply and popping away.
oo00oo
Landing in front the bank Harry was immediately run over by a bustling shopper.
"Watch where you're going!" the lady said angrily before going on.
"Sorry!" Harry called after her before headed in the bank quickly to avoid being trampled. Even at 8:30 the street was very busy.
Straightening his jacket Harry walked to a teller and waited until the Goblin finished his business. He was quite surprised to see a computer and that fact that the Goblin looked extremely proficient at typing. It would seem that The magical community back home in England were way behind the times.
"What can I do for you?" the creature asked.
"Hi, I'd like to get these Galleons exchanged for Dollars and placed into a muggle bank." Harry said quickly, knowing that Gobins' did not appreciate people who wasted their time.
"That can be done. Who's name should the account be in?"
"Mine, Harry Potter."
The Goblin stopped typing for a minute and looked up at Harry. "Hmm, a celebrity. What brings the famous Harry J. Potter to America? The Britt branch finally screw you over?"
The tone instantly reminded Harry of Snape and had to suppress his urge to cringe at the thought.
"You know, this and that. So how long will that take?"
"It's done." The Goblin said and reached down to collect a card and handed Harry the plastic card. "Will that be all, Mr Potter?"
"Could I get a statement as well as 500 dollars in cash?" Harry said looking at his watch. Alright, it was currently 9:45, he still had fifteen minutes before he missed the bus and he already felt bad about using Warren's phone and he doubted he'd be able to borrow it again from him.
"Here you go, Mr Potter." the Goblin said with a nod.
Harry nodded back and immediately walked out of the bank and popped to his room back at Blackwell, no reason to take unnecessary risk of discovery.
Then he suddenly felt a sharp tug on his magic and braced himself. He felt as though his magic was forcing him to remain where he was as a massive pull of... something tried to take him somewhere. Then it was over in an instant. He did not like that sensation at all.
"What on God's unholy earth was that!" he gasped out as he took deep breaths to calm his mind and magic.
-Magic is Strange-
Max checked her phone and made her way downstairs after speaking with Kate. She felt horrible about what happened to the girl but she knew going to the police immediately was not the right play. Instead she asked Kate to just be patient as she gathered more evidence against Nathan Prescott; the resident mega-douche of Blackwell Academy.
She checked her phone and saw that had to leave now if she wanted to catch the bus to the diner in time. As she exited the building she noticed Taylor and wanted to talk to her for a bit, using her rewind power, Max discovered that Taylor's mum was in the hospital and that Victoria had actually been an extremely supportive friend during the ordeal.
She moved on and found Warren leaning against one of the pillars on the veranda of the boys' dorm.
"Max! Check it out!" he said calling her over with a huge smile, a bruise still prominent on his face from when he fought Nathan the previous day.
"Warren, what are you doing here?"
"Oh nothing – waiting. For a call? I mean I already took the call... Anyway, I wanted to rap about that action yesterday." Warren said nervously while shifting on his feet.
"That was intense, everything happened so fast. I owe you." Max told him sincerely.
"Oh yes you do, I got knocked on my ass by that dick."
"You're a real 'Everyday Hero'. You stood up to a bully and it was awesome."
"Even though you left me with said bully and ran off with that girl... She's pretty punk rock, how do you know her?"
Max smiled softly, and tilted her head slightly. "Just a pirate I used to know."
Warren noticed her look and swallowed slightly before speaking once more.
"I bet you were glad to see her blast up in that truck like a rock star. Which begs the question – why is Nathan Prescott getting psycho on you?"
"I busted him in the bathroom yesterday with a gun."
"Holy shit!"
"Yeah, he's dangerous. I don't want you getting involved. You helped me out back there but lay low, Nathan will get his karma soon."
"Weird fucking week. Like that bizarro snowfall yesterday. Speaking of dystopia, that drive-in is having a 70's 'Planet of the Apes' marathon. Let's 'Go Ape'!" the boy said changing the topic with a wide smile.
"No, I don't think I can concentrate on going to the movies. I just feel like escaping." Max declined apologetically.
"Fine. Be a damned dirty human. I'll 'Go Ape', myself."
"Hey I might not want to go, but you could always try asking Brooke if she's down." Max said with a small smile.
Warren sighed sightly. "Yeah, I'll think on it."
Max left the dormitories and walked across the Main Campus. She noticed David Madsen and Nathan Prescott arguing off to the side and immediately felt an uneasy feeling settle in her stomach.
When the bus arrived Max climbed on took a seat by the window and plugged her earphones in. Just as the bus was about to move she noticed a black haired boy hurriedly get on mutter a few words with the driver and walked down the isle until he too found a seat and looked out of the window.
Max had never seen the boy before and had to wonder who he was. He could've easily been a student from a different year or even taking different electives which would make sense since she hadn't seen him before, but she was sure she would have recognized him, he was quite the looker, after all.
That is the end of Part 1 of Episode 2!
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
Here's some information about episode one as well as some Characters to help you guys get acquainted with what's going on and who the players are:
Max Caufield: She is a photography student studying at Blackwell under her favourite photographer, Mark Jefferson. The day prior to the events of this chapter was a Monday, Max woke up in class after having a vivid dream about a tornado tearing it's way towards Arcadia Bay.
After class she headed to the bathroom, after taking a picture of a beautiful butterfly that had fluttered in through the window, she hid behind the stalls as Nathan Prescott entered the bathroom and started hyping himself up. He was soon joined by another girl who had obviously been expecting to see him there.
During their confrontation, Nathan pulled a gun and shot the girl killing her. In a panic Max reached out for the girl and inadvertently rewound time to when she awoke back in the class room, minutes before the incident happened. Taking it as a sign, once the bell sounds she rushed out and managed to pull the fire alarm before Nathan killed the girl.
Chloe Price: Chloe and Max were childhood best friends but after her father died in a car accident and Max moved away to Seattle with her family, Chloe felt utterly alone. As such she started rebelling and went through an entire image change. She now has a sleeve tattoo, a necklace with three bullets hanging from it and striking blue hair.
She is the girl Max saw in the bathroom with Nathan, the same girl who got shot and died before Max stepped in to prevent it from happening. Her mother; Joyce, recently remarried an Army Veteran by the name of David Madsen, and Chloe does not get along with her step-father at all.
After the incident in the bathroom with Nathan, Chloe manages to escape and miraculously runs into Max, who was being confronted by Nathan about her torn photo in the bathroom where the incident happened. Once they escape, Chloe voices her displeasure of not hearing a word from her "best friend" in over five years but forgives Max, almost immediately. The two are now rekindling their friendship. (which will be explored as the chapters continue.)
Nathan Prescott: A rich boy in a prestigious school. He is described as a bully by most and as unhinged by others. After having an encounter with Chloe and threatened after he had drugged her at a party Nathan went to meet up with Chloe and brought a gun to intimidate the girl.
After Chloe escapes the boy he sees a torn picture of Max on the bathroom where she had discarded the picture before the event took place and went to confront her. He has massive control and anger issues which leads to him assaulting Max and her friend; Warren, had to step in to help her.
David Madsen: David is an Army Vet who now works security at Blackwell Academy. He is also the step-father to Chloe. David has a controlling personality and a strong sense of justice to everything.
Max discovered surveillance cameras placed around Chloe's home by David without Chloe or Joyce's consent. Max also stepped in between David and Kate Marsh to prevent the man from bullying her friend.
The day before this chapter, David entered Chloe's room while Max hid in the closet and berated her for her choice of music and the state of her room before finding Marijuana. After a heated exchange David lost his cool and slapped Chloe across the face before being chased out of the room and told that he would never touch her again.
Victoria Chase: The Regina George of Blackwell, beautiful, rich and entitled. Victoria and Max have moments of calm where they do not bother one another but they also have moments of chaos where insults are flung back and forth between the two.
Victoria is the main tormentor of Kate Marsh. Constantly bullying the girl for an incident that happened at a party a few weeks prior. Max wants to believe there's more to the girl than meets the eye but is constantly reminded of her bitchy attitude when they butt heads.
Victoria hangs out with two girls; Taylor and Courtney. She is also seen flirting very obviously with their photography professor Mark Jefferson.
Warren Graham: Max's best male friend and secret admirer. He is a science nerd who loves sci-fi movies and trashy horror flicks. When Nathan confronted Max it was Warren to stepped up to stop him from hurting Max.
Kate Marsh: Kate is a devout Christian and even heads the school Celibacy club. She has been the target of bullying after attending a party and being drugged. She was recorded kissing many boys and the video leaked and made it's way onto the internet. She is now tormented by the students at Blackwell, and has received little to no support from her family outside of her Father and two sisters.
Kate has been constantly harassed by the students at Blackwell for the past few weeks and the toll is finally getting to her. Max comments multiple times how Kate looked worse and worse each day with bloodshot eyes and bags under her eyes.
Just that morning Victoria and her minion; Taylor Christensen left a link to the video of Kate at the party up in the bathroom, thankfully Max erased it and walked back to her room. After a quick talk Max assured Kate that she would do anything to assist her in getting her evidence for a case against Nathan Prescott.
Rachel Amber: The girl with the missing posters all over the school. It was discovered by Max that Rachel and Chloe had been quite close. Even having a plan to skip town and go to Los Angeles but something happened and Rachel suddenly disappeared. No one knows where she's gone but Chloe is convinced that Rachel wouldn't have left without her. Max after seeing her friend so distraught has offered to help her in finding Rachel.
