A/N: Hello again!
So, long story short, I´ve published a book in my native tongue, so writing in English has been... quite a while.
But I´ve missed you all so so so much, so I´m back. Hello again! Welcome to season 2 of Vampires Don´t Exist
Chapter 21: An Interesting Halloween
¨I´m telling you, it doesn't fit!¨ I shouted at Alice who stood behind the door of her own room. At least she had the decency to let me alone so I could change clothes by myself, as I looked absolutely ridiculous. Oh shit, this was a total disaster.
No one was allowed to see me right now.
Not even my handsome boyfriend.
Especially not my handsome boyfriend!
¨It's supposed to be tight. Let me see it, maybe I can alter it a bit.¨
¨You know I love you, but even you cannot perform these kinds of miracles.¨
I heard her angelic laughter. ¨Bella, Bella, Bella, have a little bit of faith in me, will you?¨
I figured I needed to open the damn door, otherwise, Alice would open it herself and I didn't want to anger Esme by ruining her own house. Especially not when there's a party going on downstairs.
I awkwardly opened the door and gestured at the horrible Halloween outfit I was currently wearing. Tight, black pants and a tight, black shirt, combined with a blonde wig.
Alice beamed and looked like an angel. Literally. She put a golden halo above her head and made a pair of wings with real bird feathers. I jokingly said it was her spoils of war, but I believe she didn´t like that comparison.
Her white dress hugged her skinny body beautifully and she had curled her black hair and braided it to look like a crown. She looked perfect.
I didn´t.
¨Oh Bella, it's perfect!¨
¨Perfect? You can practically see my bra with how tight this top is!¨
Alice rolled her eyes. ¨That's how it's supposed to look.¨
¨Are you sure? I can barely breathe!¨
¨Beauty kills,¨ she said wickedly. ¨Now get your ass downstairs, otherwise, Edward will literally kill me for keeping you so long.¨
¨But I…,¨ I tried, but Alice quickly put a stop to my pointless complaints.
¨You look sexy, and that's the whole point of tonight. Now go go go.¨
She grabbed my arm and together, we walked down the stairs. Even though it had been a quiet October thus far, I still wasn't used to Alice´s occasional fashion debauchery. And this Halloween, she went completely out of her way and dressed up the whole family. And the Cullens all let her.
So, I also had to… let her dress me up. And I didn't hate it, don´t get me wrong, but this top just felt way too tight. I wondered what Edward thought of it…
I turned red thinking about him, which was rather unfortunate as I would see him in just a second. I wondered if this feeling would ever stop, and I hoped it would never do so.
I giggled and Alice looked behind her, probably worried I was thinking about an escape plan as she knew I wasn't really fond of Halloween. But she wasn't the mindreader of the family, so she quickly guessed correctly that I was thinking about her brother. She hummed with pleasure and turned to find Jasper.
As we entered the living room, my eyes immediately found Edward´s. The corner of his mouth lifted and showed me the crooked smile I loved more than anything in the world. I felt my face lit up as well and when I stopped in front of him, I couldn't stand the distance between us.
He felt the same as he reached out to grab my hand. I leaned in and quickly kissed his cheek. Would Alice forgive me if I sneaked away with him right now? She would probably drag the both of us out of his room before we could start anything fun. But if I could just get a minute alone with him, it would already be worth it!
Edward chuckled. ¨I know what you´re thinking and it will not work.¨
¨You can't even hear my thoughts,¨ I said jokingly -but embarrassed!-
¨No, but I can read your face.¨
I frowned and pretended to be upset so I looked away from his annoyingly handsome face. That's when I noticed what he was wearing.
Lots of black. A black jeans and a black sweater. It matched my own outfit, only he wore it better, of course. The only difference was that he didn't have to wear a blonde wig. Instead, Alice gave him a stuffed animal in the form of a bat, which sat on his shoulder. As I looked closer, I noticed the drops of fake blood on his clothes.
¨What are you?¨
He chuckled again. ¨Can't you see? I´m a vampire!¨
I rolled my eyes at him. ¨Yeah, and I´m a hybrid. But what are you for Halloween, though?¨
¨A vampire, Bella.¨
I laughed. ¨Really? With a bat and all that?¨
¨Yes! And you´re the vampire slayer!¨ Alice came to us and pointed at my outfit. ¨Have you never watched the show? That's Buffy´s signature outfit. Would you´ve liked it more if I gave you some garlic or a cross? You know, as vampires supposedly can't handle that and die.
Edward, please tell me you could guess it. Does no one here have vision?¨
Alice turned to her brother who held his hands out in front of him.
¨It's truly a beau-ti-ful outfit choice, Allie,¨ he laughed, emphasizing each syllable and I grinned with him. Until he winked at me and I realised he might actually really like my tight top.
Oh.
Oh, I see.
Oh my.
Alice seemed obviously displeased with us and for a second, I almost felt bad for her. Until I noticed Jasper.
I didn't know how to react, but a giggle escaped my lips and soon, tears were rolling down my cheeks from laughing too hard.
Oh, poor Jasper! His devil costume wasn't scary or sexy at all, because Alice made him dress up as some sort of red devil kitten. It was adorable!
¨It's not so bad, Bella. You should´ve seen his outfit from last year,¨ Edward whispered in my ear, just as I calmed down slightly, sending me into another wave of laughter.
¨Laugh all you want, slayer. But I will remember this,¨ Jasper said while pointing his finger in my direction. I knew he could be one of the scariest vampires out there, but dressed up as a killer kitten, it was probably one of the funniest things I´ve ever seen.
¨I believe you Jasper. You´re very purr-suasive,¨ I giggled.
¨Don't put him in a bad mewd,¨ Edward continued.
I looked up at him. ¨Good one.¨
Jasper rolled his eyes. ¨Very funny, guys. But I'm the one laughing next year. Remember that.¨
He grabbed Alice and they both walked towards the snack table, which was basically only there for me as I was the only one who ate human food. Edward and I still giggled and I felt really bad for it. I should really make it up to Alice and Jasper tomorrow. I mean, she even made sure all my favourite foods were here and I acted like a jerk.
Emmett came our way. He and Rosalie wore exactly as I imagined them the first day I saw them. A cheerleader with her captain of the football team boyfriend. Rosalie´s long, blond hair was curled and her pom-poms matched Emmett's shorts.
¨I see you´ve met our sour-puss,¨ he laughed. ¨Don´t be afraid of him right now, as it will be hiss-tory again tomorrow.¨
Rosalie rolled her eyes at how lame the jokes have become and I sat back and enjoyed watching the evening unfold. I was happy to be here, even though it took some convincing.
I was finally allowed to stay the night at the Cullens if I promised my parents I wouldn't drink. Alice convinced my parents that it wouldn't be that kind of party, but they were still a bit hesitant, especially because Carlisle and Esme were away on a romantic getaway. I promised them I wouldn't smoke, wouldn't drink and would not use drugs and they could use their vampire noses on me all they want afterwards. Eventually, they gave in.
They didn't give me any ´rules´ about sleeping arrangements, so… I figured…
No, I wasn't ready for anything like that. But, because they didn´t forbid it, I wondered…
I shook my head. I wondered nothing. I would sleep in Alice´s room tonight and get my head out of the gutter.
¨Are you alright?¨ Edward worriedly asked me.
I smiled at him and nodded.
Distance. Yeah, I need distance. So I walked over to the snack table and poured myself a diet coke. I was at a freaking party and I only thought about sleeping with my boyfriend! How hormonal of me!
And how normal. If we weren't both supernatural, it might've been just an ordinary teenage Halloween party.
Until I heard the sound of glass breaking and I looked up. Edward had his arms around me a second after, protecting me. But from what?
I looked at him, but he only had eyes for Alice.
¨I didn't know, I didn't see anything,¨ she stuttered.
¨She didn't see what?¨ I whispered. Whatever it was, I figured I needed to whisper. Even though vampires could hear extremely well, it felt better to whisper.
I smelled something disgusting. I never liked the smell of dogs, but this was much stronger. I immediately smelled it on my hair and the smell penetrated my clothes.
A tall figure came inside the house. A man. And I don't know why or how, but I recognised him. I could put a name to this golden coloured face. And without a headache this time.
Wait. What? How?
¨Jacob.¨
