Today has been a quiet day for me. I have just been in my room relaxing. I have read a book, watched TV, listened to music, and just did all the stuff I haven't had much time to do since I moved to the institute. School has been weird to say the least.

Lance goes to my school now and I was really hoping to leave that creep behind at my old school. At first I really thought he was stalking me. I wasn't trying to be conceited or anything, it's just weird that I moved here and like the next week he moved here too.

Things are more confusing than just Lance now though, because now that girl Rogue we tried to help, but really just scared away, goes to our school now too. There is, like, no way that is a coincidence. The Professor told us a bit about Mystique and I think she could be behind them being at our school.

I think it is her behind all this because Mr. Logan already verified she was there when we were trying to help Rogue. And if she managed to get to Rogue maybe she figured out that the Professor was coming to talk to me and followed him. Maybe she hoped to get to me, but when she noticed it wasn't likely I would join her, she went for Lance instead.

Or maybe she found out about Lance and was there to recruit him. When I met him he seemed pretty comfortable using his powers. Powers like his are bound to draw attention, especially with how much and how open he seemed to use them.

Lance has a powerful power, he already doesn't like the X-Men because of what happened at our old school, and he doesn't strike me as a rule follower. Joining Mystique would probably make sense to him. Plus he probably wants to be around other people with powers to maybe not feel alone and Mystique is offering him that in her own twisted way.

And Rogue well she is convinced, probably because of Mystique, that we are out to hurt her. So going with Mystique for protection and to understand her powers better would obviously make sense to her. Mystique made her feel like she had no other person to go to. So using her manipulation skills she has successfully tricked both of them into moving here to go to Bayville High with us and Toad a kid who also might be working with Mystique.

What I don't understand is why? Why would she want them in the same town and school as the X-Men? Mr. Logan says Mystique always has a plan and always has a reason for everything she does. I wish I knew her plan or could figure out her reason for having these people come to our school. Or why she might have recruited Toad from our school.

It doesn't make any sense to me at all. I feel like the Professor knows more than he tells us, but I can't know that for sure. Mr. Logan and Storm may know more than us too. We may be X-Men, but we are still treated like the teenagers we are.

Speaking of Mr. Logan, he and Jean are out scouting a new possible member of our institute family. I would have volunteered to go with them, but it was at, like, a monster truck rally and there is no way I was going there. It is way too loud and I don't care too much for monster trucks either.

The guy they are going to check on is supposed to be, like, super strong or something. I don't know what that has to do with a monster truck rally, but that's where he is. And apparently he is a part of the show. I feel for Jean the Professor calls upon her and Scott a lot to help out those of here and out there.

I check my phone to see what time it is and realize it is dinner time. I put my phone on my nightstand then step into my bathroom to wash my hands and then I head down to the dining room. When I get down there I see everyone, but Kurt and Scott are already seated. I make my way over to an empty seat. The seat is between Jean and Storm.

It looks like tonight we are having pizza which is awesome! As I put some pizza on my plate I ask Jean, "How did today go?"

She says, "Well we can verify that he is super strong. He stopped two monster trucks from driving in two different directions at the same time and then pulled them until they crashed into each other. When we went to talk to him someone was already there talking to him. I didn't get to see who though."

I nod and say, "Do you think it could be Mystique?"

She says, "It would make sense if it was."

After that we let the subject drop, there really wasn't much else to be said on the matter. If Mystique did go to see him, he'll probably be joining us at school soon, if her pattern continues. No point in worrying about it until we have to.

Scott and Kurt finally joined us for dinner and we had a nice dinner just talking and laughing together. Even Mr. Logan was laughing. It was a nice moment with my new family and I enjoyed every moment of it.

The next day was Sunday and it went by in a flash. We trained for a while and after that Jean and I went shopping for clothes, food, and other things we needed. It was really fun to have another girl to go shopping with.

The next day I rode to school with Scott like normal. I went to all my classes like I do every day. I also ignored Lance in the hallways. He hasn't come up to me yet, but I catch him staring at me like he wants to and I don't want anything to do with him. So I just walk past him and don't acknowledge him.

At some point in the day I notice that there are some crushed lockers on the wall and that is really weird. It couldn't have been any of the X-Men, besides maybe Jean, but she would never use her power that way. It definitely wasn't Lance, Toad, or Rogue; their powers wouldn't allow them to do that. So what happened?

When lunch time came around I got my lunch and headed to the table that Jean, Scott, Kurt and I sit at every day. I sit next to Jean and we begin to talk about our days. I look up and notice a big guy walk in he is very tall. I turn to Jean and say, "Is that humongous guy the one you and Logan, like, went to see Saturday night?"

Jean says, "Yeah, Fred. He's ok. When he's not ripping lockers off the wall."

I lean back in shock, he's really that strong? To rip lockers off the wall and crush them and then put them back on the wall? He must be incredibly strong. I say, "He's the one who, like, did that? Freaky!"

Jean says, "Duncan was being a jerk it kind of set Fred off. I think he has a problem controlling his temper if he knows or even thinks people are laughing at him."

I nod and say, "I'm sure most people would lose their temper if they got laughed. Most people just don't have his power to back up their tempers."

She nods and says, "Exactly. If we can get him to agree to come to the institute we will definitely have to try to help him with his temper."

I say, "If anyone can help him, it is definitely the Professor. He is so patient. How is everyone's day going?" We shouldn't dwell too much on Fred. He may hear us and think we are talking about him in a negative light. We do not need to scare anyone else away or make anymore enemies.

Scott says, "It's pretty ok. My only complaint is I got paired with Rogue to do a scene from Shakespeare's Henry V. We are playing Henry and Katherine. We have to perform in front of the class."

Kurt says, "You and Rogue? Ah! Now that is a strange combination, ja?"

Scott says, "Yeah. I got to play a romantic scene with a girl who thinks we tried to kill her. Man, she's going to have to be some kind of actress."

Kurt says, "My friend, you've got to invite me to the rehearsals!" He and Scott begin laughing about what Kurt said.

I say, "Guys, try to be a little sensitive. We don't know what happened that night to scare her or what she thinks we are capable of."

Jean nods and says, "She's right. Tread carefully Scott we don't want to scare any more then we have."

Before any of us could respond we heard a noise and saw food fly by our table. We watched it fly and land on Duncan and some other jocks. Duncan says, "Bad move, Blob boy." Duncan and two of his friends start storming over to Fred.

Jean looks at me and says, "Stay here Kitty. This could get messy."

I laugh and say, "Yeah, 'cause, like, that hasn't already happened." Fred tried to get up, but he kept slipping in the food. Everyone in the cafeteria started laughing, it was horrible.

Fred says, "Don't laugh at me!" He gets angry and starts throwing food. He throws it so hard he knocks Duncan down and then Duncan's friends through food back at Fred.

A kid I don't know screams, "Food fight!" and everyone starts throwing food. I get hit by some food in all the chaos. I say, "Ah! Excuse me! I'm skipping dessert!" I then phase through the floor waving at Jean as I go.

I feel bad about leaving them to deal with Fred and the food fight, but there isn't much I can do to help. Jean is the only one who may be able to use her powers without drawing attention. Plus it sounds like she is already working on connecting with Fred so that will probably help her calm him down.

Once I am back in the hallway I take my cardigan off and walk to the closest restroom. I quickly wash the food off of me. There is a small stain on my shirt, but I managed to get the food off my skin and out of my hair. Once that is done I ditch my cardigan in my locker then grab my books and head to my next class.

The rest of the day went by pretty fast. I finished out my classes then caught a ride home with Scott. Jean didn't ride home with us, but when she doesn't meet us by Scott's car that usually means Duncan is taking her home. When we got home Kurt and I were told to suit up.

Since Jean and Scott aren't here they decided to have Kurt and I train outside in a simple exercise. We have a football and we are playing keep away. We are both trying to keep the ball from each other.

Currently I have the ball and I am phasing through the trees as a run away from Kurt. He is trying to keep up by using his power to pop up beside or in front of me. Wolverine says, "That's it half-pint keep the ball away from the elf. But you have to concentrate or," his sentence was cut off by me running into a tree branch. I was not concentrating.

When I hit the branch the football goes flying through the air. Kurt pops right in front of it and grabs the football. Kurt says, "Ha! It's mine now, Kitty!" I am not going down like this.

I run towards him and say, "Give me that!" He pops away, but lands in a tree branch that seems to be breaking.

Wolverine says, "Watch where you're portin'!"

The branch breaks and Kurt begins to fall I jump up and phase through him as I grab the football. I grab his tail as he continues to fall and I manage to land on my feet. He lands on his face.

Wolverine says, "What kind of move is that?"

The Professor says, "Hmm. Innovation, adaption. It's what their here to learn." The Professor stops and grabs his head. The Professor looks up at Wolverine and says, "She's been kidnapped."

He could only be talking about Jean. Wolverine says, "You! Elf! Get Cyclops! I got to ride." Wolverine gets on his bike to go find where Jean is and Kurt pops off to get Scott. I go to make sure the X-van is ready.

Once the van is ready I meet back up with the Professor and the others to find out our plan. When we are all there the Professor says, "I've been in mental contact with Jean, but she has no idea where she is. All I can tell is that she and Blob are somewhere in this area." He motions to the giant computer screen behind him with a map and coordinates on it.

Scott says, "Then let's move." We hurry to the vehicles. Scott gets in his car, while Kurt and I get in the X-van. Kurt drives because I don't have a license yet. We don't know exactly where she is so we split up to start looking.

We haven't been looking for very long where we hear the Professor say, "Wolverine has the location. I'm transmitting coordinates."

Scott says, "Got it Professor be there in three." I pull the coordinates up for Kurt on the computer system in the X-van. We speed up hurrying to where Jean is. This will be the first time I will go into a situation with the X-men knowing it will be a fight. I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be. I am just worried about Jean.

When Kurt and I get there we see Cyclops and Wolverine knocked out outside. We sneak to the door and see Rogue fighting the Blob. I say, "Nightcrawler, keep watch and help if she needs it. I doubt she'll need it she seems to have this handled. I am going to try to get to Jean without them noticing."

Nightcrawler nods and says, "Be careful Shadowcat."

I nod and head to the side of the building about where there seemed to be a room and phase through. When I enter the room I see Jean sitting there encased in pipes. I say, "I'm going to get you out of those and get you out of here."

She says, "It's so good to see you and thank you."

I use my powers to phase the pipes off of her. When she is finally free she says, "Good job Shadowcat." Before I can say anything back we hear a loud yell and see Blob go flying through the ceiling. Rogue used Scott's power to send Blob flying pretty cool.

After Blob is gone we all rush to check on Wolverine and Cyclops. When we get outside Wolverine is already up and Cyclops is starting to come to. Rogue bends down and helps him put his goggles on. Rogue says, "There you go. I only took a short term dose of you power, you should be back to normal soon."

Cyclops says, "You are like an angel, Kate." Must be from their play scene they are rehearsing.

Rogue says, "My name's not Kate. And I'm no angel."

Jean says, "But you helped us. Why?" I think Rogue is a very good person, but she is also a very confused person. She also has a difficult power that makes her life more complicated and isolating.

Rogue gets upset as she says, "I don't know. I just don't know!" She then takes off and runs away.

Jean goes to follow her and calls out, "Hey wait!"

Wolverine grabs Jean's wrist gently to stop her. He says, "Easy, Red. Let her go." I kind of understand why he thinks we should let her go. We can't make her come to us, she has to want to or we will just make everything worse.

Jean says, "But she," but she is cut off by Wolverine.

He says, "She ain't ready. Trust me on this."

I say, "Ok, so maybe she's part of the dark, icky side. But I figure we, like, totally owe her now." She helped save one of us when she didn't have to that means something.

Cyclops says, "Yeah. Yeah, we do. Big time." He then puts his arms around Jean. These two are so blind, but I still ship this relationship if it ever happens.

I'm not sure what is going to happen next, but as we all load back into all our vehicles to head back to the institute I know two things. I would not trade my new life, my new friends, my new mentors, or my new family for anything. And I will do everything in my power to protect them now and forever.
