A solitary figure makes her way across the empty void of space, guilt and shame her only companions...

It'd been decades.
She wasn't really sure how many.
Six?
Four?
Two-and-a-half?
The nature of space travel made measuring time a tricky matter. Each time her body soared through a new solar system she couldn't deduce if she'd gained hours or lost years.
Then there was the monotony of her mission.
In her mind her work on one planet bled into another.
It made calculations all the more difficult.
And there were so many. Though she knew it wasn't the case, it often felt like her work was endless.
Endless…and endlessly lonely.
But then again…was that not what she deserved?
Some part of her, a teeny tiny voice at the back of her mind, tried to protest the self-reprimand. It spoke of how she hadn't truly been at fault. Intellectually she could see that. But her heart told her different.
Her heart told her that the decades she'd spent undoing some of the pain she'd caused, all the decades she'd spend undoing the rest of that pain, would never be enough. But it'd be a start.
Maybe she would spend the rest of her, very long, lifespan in repentance for her crimes? Maybe she'd travel from planet to planet protecting them from the threats that would destroy them. And still be feared and hated by their populace anyway…
How dare she!
How dare she feel sorry for herself!
How dare she even contemplate the idea after all she'd done!
Directly? Indirectly? It didn't matter!
She'd failed to stop the ultimate of evils and her attempt had only made things a thousand times worse.
Feared? Hated? Alone?
What was that compared to the suffering her weakness, her foolishness and her pride had visited upon the Milky Way?
No. To be alone was a punishment she'd well and truly ear-
She came to a full stop amidst the inky blackness of dead space.
She was the one and only thing in sight.
No comets.
No asteroids.
No planets.
No moons.
No stars.
And yet she'd felt something.
She felt it as though it was a wave that had washed over her.
It was a warm energy, powerful, exuberant and yet also gentle too.
It felt familiar.
Yes! She could sense the energy better now, and knew exactly where it had originated.
She tapped deeper into her own immense energies to better understand.
It was…a message? A message for…
Were she not in the vacuum of space she might've gasped.
For the briefest of moments a teeny tiny part of her felt a pang of jealousy. Then it passed and she realized how ridiculous it was. Unlike herself, she actually deserved to be thanked from across the stars.
But would she hear it?
From what her senses could detect the message was strong. It was not impossible for it to reach Earth. But it was far from a guarantee.
But perhaps…if she gave it a little help?
She summoned her own energies and intermingled them with those of the transmission. The effect was akin to causing a great wave of water, one that hopefully would carry the 'glass bottle' to its desired destination.
The energy she'd spent wasn't enough to put her in any danger, but it would considerably slow her down. It'd add however much longer onto her 'sentence'.
But it was worth it.
Because she was worth it.
Because she owed her everything.
It was then that she spotted something out of the corner of her eye. Turning her attention to it she saw an infinitesimal light far off in the darkness.
In the time since she'd been here could a new star have begun to emerge?
Or perhaps it'd always been there? Perhaps she just hadn't noticed it until she'd felt…
She gave a small smile.
It appears she'd been saved twice by her.
Still smiling, Galaxia streaked towards the light, a shining golden trail left in her wake.
