Mitsuha drowsily rubbed her eyes. Her already blurred vision mixes and swirls with the sunlight streaming through her window. She stretches herself in preparation for the day ahead of her. One that, little did she know, would end up feeling exceptionally long. Which was no easy thing to say considering every day in Itomori felt exceptionally longer than Mitsuha truly liked.

Nonetheless, with a yawn the girl heaved herself up into a sitting position, still using one arm to rub the sleep out of her eyes. Though it didn't do much for her and she let out yet another sleepy yawn. The girl gave a long tired sigh as she surveyed her room.

Although it hadn't changed since she had seen it yesterday she still took a moment to fully absorb the place in front of her. Her shelves were a little bit cramped and messy although it was not that big of a deal or much of her concern. In one of the corners was a mirror and closet (which she hardly ever used in conjunction).

Suddenly there was a loud noise to her left as she turned to see Yotsuha behind the sliding door to her room. It was at the times when her sister barged into her private area that Mitsuha really wished she had a lock on her fusuma.

"Sis, get up, it's time for Breakfast!" The littler Miyamizu girl near-pouted,

Without even waiting for an answer Yotsuha slams the door and Mitsuha can hear the little pit-pat of her feet as she leaves.

Though she is too tired to manifest it into actual words Mitsuha cocks her head to the side with a frown and knit eyebrows as if to say, 'rude'. Of course, no one is there to actually see her. She giggles at her own silliness before getting to her feet to start the day.

Mitsuha makes her way to the corner of her room and opens her closet to pick some clothes. Though it doesn't take long for her to randomly select an outfit for the day, her hands and eyes linger for a moment on the school uniforms in her closet. A reminder of what little time there is left for her in summer. She turns her gaze to the mirror, a disheveled girl with bed head in a pink nightgown returns the stare. With a sigh, she changes into her clothes and makes her way out of her room. With more effort than should really be expected.

Making her way downstairs Mitsuha spots her sister and grandmother sitting at the small table next to an open fusuma. She could feel the nice breeze flowing into the room. Closing her eyes for a brief moment she allowed herself to let the wind wake her up.

"Mitsuha," Her grandmother calls, breaking the moment's trance, "Come, sit."

Mitsuha obeyed, walking down the rest of the flight of stairs. Lowering herself down onto her knees in front of the table. She began to eat up the meal her sibling and guardian had prepared for her. She sat there in silence chewing her food until it seemed boredom overcame her sister, who reached for the remote and turned on the TV. Mitsuha was quietly thankful as she glued her attention to the screen as a woman began talking cheerily about the latest news in Japan,

"-and earlier today the Kimi Construction Company announced their plan for a new and incredible tower in Tokyo. Which has left many speechless regarding its astounding size and the massive undertaking of the event. However, it will also involve the demolition of several houses within the area to clear the way for the construction-"

Mitsuha turned to see her grandmother had turned off the TV and watched as she stood up to go turn on their radio which began playing sounds of traditional Japanese music which the old woman quietly nodded her head to as if entirely entranced with the music.

"Awww, no fair grandma. We were watching that," Yotsuha whined before turning to her sister, "I bet it's really cool in Tokyo. What do you think, Mitsuha?"

The other girl crossed her arms over the table and laid her head on top resting herself a little.

"Probably." She responded dully,

'Can't be worse than living here right?' Mitsuha thought to herself while wistfully fantasizing about the adventures she could have in Tokyo. Tessie would certainly love it there. All the tech and…stuff. She and Sayaka would visit every cafe around, and maybe even scope out some of those hot Tokyo boys…but that was all just some fantasy cooked up in her head. She didn't get to live in a sprawling city like Tokyo. She was confined to the walls of this stupid town.

Grandma Hitoha seemed to take note of Mitsuha mood regarding the mattes and practically read her mind when she told the girl,

"Don't get all wrapped up in jealousy like that, Mitsuha. Besides, we have all that we need, and not to mention, a responsibility here in Itomori."

Mitsuha stood up from the table frustratedly.

"But I just don't like it here," she exclaimed, "I feel trapped! I hate this close-knit lifestyle I have to follow. I just wanna go out and see things! Experience things! Not be trapped here my whole life."

Mitsuha stamped her foot prompting a slightly harsh look from her grandmother which made the girl embarrassedly cross her arms and avert her eyes.

"Maybe I should ask the gods to just bring me back as a hot Tokyo boy in my next life." She muttered upset before running out of the house through the open doors.

"Maybe ask the gods to bring a hot Tokyo boy to you!" Her sister called after her,

Admittedly it did make Mitsuha snort a little, but that wasn't quite enough humor to deter her less than optimistic mood. It was only the morning and already she was hung up on life's problems. As if she needed any of this.

Mitsuha just ran, away from her house and down the road to the edge just above her town on a small road that was as usual not particularly populated. This could be attributed to the fact that barely anyone had a car in Itomori, which could also be attributed to the whole close-knit lifestyle thing Mitsuha was beginning to fully loathe. The girl clenched her fists as she looked out at the town and the huge lake it sat upon. She angrily thought back to what her sister had said. Eh, it was worth a shot, wasn't it? With a huge intake of breath, Mitsuha shouted at the landscape below,

"I HATE THIS TOWN! I HATE THIS LIFE TOO," she took in another gulp of breath, already near hoarse, "AT LEAST BRING ME A HANDSOME TOKYO BOY OR SOMETHING!"

Mitsuha's voice echoed across the air for a little while though when it finally faded she leaned back and sighed. Turning on her heels she began to walk back up to the house but was suddenly slammed into and fell to the ground.

She hit the street pavement hard, leaving a rough scraped feeling on her skin, though luckily she didn't draw blood. As she lay on the road however she became aware of two things. One, the person who had fallen on top of her and was also laying still, as well as their arms proximity to her-uh…chest area.

With a squeak loud enough to be heard for miles at a pitch able to break a window Mitsuha quickly threw off the person and scrambled up. The other person, no definitely confirmed to her as being Male also scampered away and into a standing position before quickly speaking,

"Sorry! Sorry! I just kinda ran into you I didn't-"

"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, IDIOT!" Mitsuha screamed at him, her patience with everything this morning having fully run out.

The boy stuttered and sputtered at her confusedly before his face hardened into what looked like an angry expression,

"Well, you weren't exactly paying attention either we're you moron?" He argued back,

"Stupid pervert! What were you doing even running that fast?" Mitsuha shouted and a slight blush appeared on the boys face,

"WH-I-No! I'm not-look I'm just going to my mom's house and I would've liked to also get in some good exercise. Maybe you could use the same." The boy grumbled although Mitsuha picked up on that last part,

"What the hell's that supposed to mean?" She screeched at him, crossing her arms over her chest,

"Nothing, nothing. I'll go slower from now on," he began to walk away, Mitsuha angrily also turned on her heels to walk away but was stopped when the boy spoke, "Oh, and just some advice? Don't scream about Tokyo boys off the side of a cliff. A little bit strange isn't it?"

The boy walked away leaving Mitsuha stunned and a little mortified. She quickly dashed back up the stairs to her house. Totally winded by the time she made it up there but still with enough energy to make a break for her room. However, she was stopped suddenly by her grandmother appearing in front of her.

"Mitsuha! Good, we found you, go and get ready." She chided the girl,

"What? Why?" She asked careful not to sound too annoyed as to spark the ire from earlier,

"You know ? She runs a small place for baked goods in town? Her son is coming to visit for a while and I thought we should say hello."

Mitsuha nodded slightly. Although inside a thought popped into her head she hadn't registered a few minutes ago. She didn't recognize that boy…from anywhere in town. He looked about her age, and Mitsuha couldn't think of many that age who didn't all attend the local school. But she didn't recall seeing him at school…

Mitsuha continued thinking about this as she undressed and redressed into slightly more presentable clothes. She kept thinking about it as they made their way through town to Ms. Tachibana's house. Though at that point she was mostly just making up any reason things wouldn't be what she thought it was.

But then they were there. Right outside house, worry pooled into Mitsuha's gut but before she could think of anything to do her grandmother rang the doorbell. Soon after the door opened to reveal a pretty woman with long dark brown hair and blue eyes. She had an oval-ish face with light and peachy-looking skin. The woman smiled brightly at them,

"Hello , and to your grandkids too!" She exclaimed happily,

"Hello, Aki," Mitsuha's grandmother greeted the woman, "Has your grandson arrived?"

"He walked in only a little ago," replied who turned and yelled up the stairs, "Hey Taki! Come down and greet our guests!"

They waited for a second, Mitsuha held her breath hoping silently. However, as the boy made his way down the stairs she went tense as she realized that she was indeed correct. It was the boy from earlier, Taki, was the son of .

He made his way down and stood next to his mother allowing them to see the similarities, Taki also had brown hair, but some darker blue eyes, though they had a similar skin tone Taki's mother seemed a little lighter than her son.

"What a handsome young man!" Mitsuha's grandmother exclaimed,

Taki, a little bashfully scratched the back of his head with a sunny smile.

"Taki was living in Tokyo with his father for a while, though as of late he's going to be staying here for a little." exclaimed,

"Tokyo! Wow! Do you hear that Mitsuha?…Mitsuha? Where did she run off to?"

Mitsuha was hiding in the small alleyway just by the Tachibana house. Desperately holding her hands together trying to wish it all away. She looked up at the sky pleadingly and prayed,

"Gods, I changed my mind. Please have him back."
