Chapter 1 Long Live the King
Before the Age of the Avatar. There were the Titans.
We know not their origins only that they hold unimaginable power. A power to create life and forged the very landscape of the Earth.
And the Titans protected all that lived and breathed upon the Earth.
Guided the human race to greatness long before the Avatar.
But like all great powers an enemy came and faced them.
And so began the war.
A war that ravaged the planet until it was almost consumed by death.
And a great era ended and so began a new one.
And the Titans?
They waited for a time to resurface in the world to guide the human race once more into greatness.
A time that was drawing near.
Present time
In the South pole at the edge of a cliff near the ocean was a young girl around the age of four crying.
This was Korra the new Avatar who was upset.
She had talked about how she was gonna be the greatest Avatar ever before a rude member of the White Lotus made remarks how she would end up as a failure because she was a girl and doomed to fail.
It greatly upset her by that comment so she ran away.
"I'm not a failure." Korra said as a single tear dropped from her face before hitting the water below her.
Unknowingly she had made her presence known to something ancient.
Korra continued to cry before she heard a loud sound from below making her look down before something began to rise out of the water making her widen her eyes as it began to shadow her.
It was a a large reptilian monster with gills on the neck and large spikes on his back and yellow eyes before he looked at her before lowering himself down to her making her look in awe.
"Why are you sad?" The creature asked shocking her that it spoke.
"You...Can talk?" Korra asked.
"That I can. Now...What has you upset young one?"
"A jerk in the White Lotus said I wasn't gonna be a great Avatar...Just because I'm a girl." Korra said sniffing before feeling one of his claws brush her tears away.
"Greatness is not defined by Gender nor linage. It is defined by our actions both in combat and in words. I have lived long before mankind crawled out of the mud. And I have seen many great leaders with this trait that did not have the power of bending long before it existed."
This surprised Korra thinking Bending was something everyone had back then.
"And I have seen and mentored many avatars in my long existence. Even your predecessor Avatar Aang when he fought Fire Lord Ozai."
"You did?" Korra asked.
"I did. I was the one who gave him the power to take a person's bending away so he would not be forced to kill as he did not have the will to do so for he was a gentle spirit. I have mentored thousands of Avatars. Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, Yangchen. I even taught many wise and noble leaders."
"Can...You teach me?" Korra asked making him chuckle.
"When you are ready. But for now you are just a child who has much growing to do. And I want you to enjoy your young life with your family. When you are ready I will teach you. But for now you must go home. No doubt your parents are looking for you."
After that he went back into the water and vanished before Korra ran back home.
Later
Tonraq shoved the Arrogant member of the White Lotus into a wall for what he said to his daughter.
"Who do you think you are!" Tonraq asked.
"I said what was true. She is doomed to fail because she is a girl."
"Avatar Kyoshi was a woman and she was one of the best." Katara said.
"Not in my view."
"Your a jerk." Korra said making her presence known.
"Korra!" Senna said picking her up and held her. "I was so worried about you." Senna said.
"I'm sorry." Korra said.
"Where were you?" Tonraq asked holding her.
"Talking to a giant lizard." Korra said confusing them before Katara smiled.
"Korra. Did this lizard have gills, yellow eyes and large fins on his back?" Katara asked.
"How'd you know?" Korra asked confusing her parents even more while Katara laughed.
"It figures he would talk to you. He's always helping others." Katara said.
"Who are you talking about?" Tonraq asked.
"He goes by many names. The most common however...Is Godzilla. King of the Titans. The original guardians of Earth long before the Avatar." Katara said.
Later
"The Titans? I've never heard of them before." Tenzin said to his mother.
"Not surprising to be honest. Not many people know about them anymore. I myself didn't know about them till after the war was over. Long before the Avatar came to be the Titans ruled over all that lived and breathed on the planet. There was a time they actually led humanity to an age of greatness. But then one day they faced an enemy that challenged them all along with humanity. Both the Titans and humanity fought side by side against these monsters. In the end though the end of an era came and they had to start over. And the Titans waited for the right moment to come back. Godzilla is one of the only few that are still awake watching over mankind." Katara said.
"Is that why he spoke to Korra?" Senna asked holding her.
"He's talked with all Avatars. He was the one who actually gave Aang the ability to take a person's bending away. I remember how he told me that day." Katara said.
Flashback before Aang fought Ozai
Aang was on Ember island questioning himself if he could actually take a life.
"I don't think I can do this Momo." Aang said as the little animal had his ears down before he went to sleep.
Thats when a large set of spikes came out of the water.
"Young Avatar."
Aang slowly began to wake up in a trance.
"Come with me."
Aang slowly got up and went to whatever it was that summoned him before getting on as it swam away.
Later
Aang was slowly awakened by Momo licking him.
"Hey Momo. I had the strangest dream." Aang said before widening his eyes seeing he was out at sea on something's back. "Where are we?" Aang asked before he went exploring.
"Where are we? This doesn't look like the Spirit world." Aang said before using airbending. "Definitely not in the spirit world." Aang said.
"Connect with your past lives...And you will gain insight."
Aang looked around for the source of the voice but saw nothing but the spikes and scales.
"Well...Worth a shot." Aang said before he sat down and started to meditate.
Thats when Roku appeared in spiritual form.
"Hello, Aang." Roku said.
"Roku, Where am I? What is this place?" Aang asked making him chuckle.
"You are the back of an old friend of all past Avatars. They call him by many names in the past. The most common is Godzilla. King of the Titans. The original Guardians of the Earth long before the Avatar." Roku said.
"So why am I here? Why did he bring me on his back?" Aang asked.
"You are troubled. And he wishes to help." Roku said.
"I just don't know what to do. Everyone expects me to take the firelord's life. But I don't think I can do it." Aang said.
"In my life, I tried to be disciplined and show restraint. But it backfired when Firelord Sozin took advantage of my restraint and mercy. Godzilla told me that when there was an obvious threat it needed to be removed before it became too great. I thought Sozin could be persuaded not to follow his ambition of war. If I had listened to Godzilla all those years ago I could have prevented the war you now have to stop. I offer you this wisdom, Aang. You must be decisive." Ruku said before vanishing.
"Ugh...Ok lets try another." Aang said before he summoned Kyoshi.
"Hello, Aang." Kyoshi said.
"You know Godzilla from your years as the Avatar?" Aang asked making her smile.
"I do. His wisdom has been passed down to many Avatars since near the beginning of when the cycle started. He taught me everything I know. And how to deal with obvious threats." Kyoshi said remembering Chin the Conqueror.
"You mean Chin." Aang said.
"He threatened to throw the world out of balance. I stopped him and with Godzilla's power moved my land to what is now known as Kyoshi island. He did this so my people would be free and the world entered an era of great peace." Kyoshi said.
"But technically you didn't actually kill him. He died because he was too stubborn to move and fell to his death." Aang said.
"True but nevertheless I would have done anything to stop him. Thats what Godzilla has taught many of us to do. To remove the threats before they become worse than they already are. Like us he is keeper of balance and a protector of all that lives and breathes on this planet." Kyoshi said.
"Then why didn't he stop the Fire Lord from wiping out my people?" Aang asked.
"Because he couldn't no matter how much he wished he could. And believe me I know he did. There is a threat out there far worse than anything the Avatars have ever faced combined. And when they return only can the Titans as well. There are worse things out there than man." Kyoshi said before vanishing.
"What could be worse than Man?" Aang asked before summoning the next Avatar Kuruk.
"I am Avatar Kurok." Kuruk said.
"You were taught by Godzilla too?" Aang asked making him smile.
"We all were. He taught us how to keep the world in balance. But when I was young, I was a more go with the flow kind of Avatar. People usually worked out their own problems, and there was great peace so I wasn't needed as much as most Avatars. But then, I lost the woman I loved to Koh, the face stealer. Godzilla warned me even in times of peace and prosperity I needed to be more active and attentive. I didn't listen and I paid the price. Aang, you must actively shape your own destiny, and the destiny of the world as Godzilla did long ago before the greatest threat to Earth ever arrived." Kuruk said before vanishing.
"What threat? What are they all talking about?" Aang asked before going again before Avatar Yangchen appeared.
"I am Avatar Yangchen, young avatar." Yangchen said.
"And you were taught by Godzilla like all the others." Aang said making her smile.
"I was. During my time as Avatar with his wisdom and teachings I helped lead the world into a great Era of peace and unity. But even then there were threats that needed to be dealt with." Yangchen said.
"So you killed them?" Aang asked.
"No. Not unless I had no choice. Godzilla always taught us there is always another way if we cannot do the obvious choice. For not all of us have the will to take a life. There are always other options. If he has summoned you then he clearly has a way to help you. He always helped the past Avatars in troubling situations with his wisdom." Yangchen said before vanishing.
Thats when Godzilla's back started shaking making him yell before a hand grabbed him before Aang came face to face with Godzilla who stood up in the water.
"Whoa." Aang said before bowing. "Maybe you can help me. My friends are expecting me to end someone's life. But...I just don't think I can do it." Aang said.
"There is no shame in not being able to take a life young Avatar. As Yangchen told you some do not have the will to take a life. It is nothing be be ashamed of. It simply means you value all life even your enemies. And that is the quality of a human being." Godzilla said making him smile.
"So...How am I supposed to stop the fire lord? If he does still live he'll just cause nothing but pain and suffering like his father and grandfather." Aang said.
"There is always a way to stop your enemies without taking their lives. In the Era before the Avatar we the Titans represented the very elements of this world. Water, Earth, Fire and Air. Just as a gift can be given...It can be taken away as well." Godzilla said before his claws touched his forehead before glowing.
After that Godzilla placed Aang on a mountain where Ozai would come.
"Use this gift wisely young Avatar." Godzilla said before leaving.
End Flashback
"Whoa." Korra said.
"So if these Titans still exist why don't they show themselves?" Tonraq asked.
"It's not time. But I believe that soon they will." Katara said.
"So...Why was he here exactly?" Senna asked.
"I think Aang must have asked him to keep an eye on her to make sure history didn't repeat itself." Katara said.
Days later
Korra was once more where she first met Godzilla with her feet hanging over the edge.
"He's not gonna just show up so suddenly you know." Katara said behind her making her face her.
"Why not?" Korra asked making her smile as she sat next to her.
"Korra...He'll only show up when he's needed the most." Katara said.
"Mmm." Korra said making her smile as she held her close.
"I remember the first time I met him. I screamed." Katara said making Korra giggle. "He was around for a long time with us right up till the end. Aang no doubt asked him to keep an eye on you incase history repeated itself. Thats probably why he showed himself to you so early. Your the first avatar to see him as a child." Katara said.
"Why?" Korra asked making her smile.
"Perhaps theres something very special about you." Katara said making Korra giggle before they left
After their talk Korra and her parents were in the town getting some food.
"You don't actually believe there are monsters that lived for so long do you?" Senna asked her husband.
"Well, I wouldn't call them monsters. But if Katara says they are here to help the world then yes I believe her." Tonraq said.
However out in the ocean some blue sphere appeared which everyone saw.
"Whats that?" Korra asked as Tonraq picked her up narrowing his eyes.
Coming through the sphere was a monster who roared loudly into the air making the people scream in fear as it turned its sights on the people and roared loudly before slowly approaching them.
"Oh no." Senna said.
(Insert Rebirth from Godzilla King of the Monsters)
Before the monster could get close to the city a blue glow was seen in the water.
"Huh?" Tonraq asked before a bellowing sound was heard from beneath the glow.
The monster however growled at this sensing something powerful and yet...Familiar.
Slowly rising from the waters was none other than Godzilla himself making everyone gasp in awe at the original defender of all that lived and breathed of those on Earth as his back glowed.
"Oh my. Is that him?" Senna asked Korra who nods.
"Godzilla." Korra said before Godzilla breathed blue fire in the sky before looking at his foe.

Godzilla roared loudly at this monster who growled.
"So you're still alive after all these years. King of monsters." The monster said shocking everyone it could speak.
"And I will live forever as long as life exists on my planet. Be gone! You and your Kaiju are not welcome on my world!" Godzilla ordered making him laugh.
"You may still be alive after all these years. But are the others I wonder. You may be able to defend this part of this world...But you cannot be everywhere." The Kaiju said.
"What are you up to?" Godzilla asked.
"You don't think I'm the only one here do you? As we speak more of my kind are attacking human hives. They will destroy them." The Kaiju said as Godzilla grinned.
"Will they?" Godzilla asked making him glare before roaring as they charged at one another.

As this was going on several parts of the world also had Kaiju showing up.
Within the fire nation a Kaiju began to approach the land making the people scream in terror as it got closer.
Only for a loud calling sound to be heard making the Kaiju freeze before the nearby volcano began to erupt before a massive explosion occurred.
Coming from the Volcano was a massive bird that had fire on it's wings before roaring into the air loudly before flying towards the Kaiju who roared before the Titan slammed it down into the water hard as the newly awakened Titan flew in the air and roared loudly. (Rodan 2019)
At Kyoshi Island the Kyoshi warriors saw a few Kaiju who were about to attack only for a pair of large tentacles to come out of the water and smack them away before a Titan emerged from the water revealing it had two legs it stood on and roared loudly at the Kaiju before spitting Tar at them in the eyes blinding them. (C-Rex from Godzilla the Series)
At the Northern Water Tribe several Kaiju broke through the wall protecting the people making them scream in terror before a loud roaring was heard as something landed in front of the tribe.
The Kaiju roared in rage seeing a golden three headed dragon who roared loudly at them before blasting them with lightning making them scream in pain. (Ghidorah 2019)
From the palace Tonraq's brother Unalaq saw this and grinned. (Never a good sign)
At the Metal Clan a few Kaiju appeared making the people run in fear before one of the mountains came apart before something emerged.
Emerging from the mountain was a massive ape who growled at the Kaiju before banging his chest and roared loudly before charging at them. (Kong 2021)
All over the world where the Kaiju appeared the Titans emerged to defend humanity and every living thing away from the Kaiju.
Godzilla roared before grabbing the Kaiju by the neck before his spikes glowed and breathed fire into the mouth before the head came off.
Roaring into the air in victory the people of the Southern Water Tribe cheered for the victory.

Godzilla looked at the people before he spotted Korra and her family along with Katara and Tenzin.
"Hmm?" Godzilla said before approaching them and lowered himself down. "It has been a long time Katara." Godzilla said making her smile.
"Almost five years." Katara said.
"The great King of the Titans." Tenzin said in awe.
"Indeed I am. And now you see the greatest threat to Earth. No one has seen them in 30,000 years." Godzilla said shocking them all.
"What happened 30,000 years ago?" Tenzin asked.
"30,000 years ago Humanity was completely evolved. They had entered an era of technological marvels. We the Titans led them to that age as we guided them accordingly. For a hundred thousand years there was peace and prosperity the likes of which you could not even imagine. Then the Kaiju came. They destroyed everything in their path. Titans and Humans fought side by side against them for 2 years. Finally we managed to seal the breach in which they come from. But by then the damage was already done. The remaining humans were given the power of bending from us in order to survive as we recovered our strength. The war exhausted many of us." Godzilla said.
"Thats why you never revealed yourselves till now." Tenzin said.
"For most yes. For those like me however we kept a close eye on humanity. Sadly they've been at war with one another for many years. So for 30,000 years all we could do was watch and mentor a small few who brought great change to the world. Then came the Avatar. I don't know the origins as I was in a state of hibernation before I believe the tenth Avatar was born and taught her and those after her how to properly guide mankind. And now Korra is the current Avatar. And one day I will train her...When she is ready." Godzilla said before turning to leave.
"Wait you said the Breach was sealed. Why are they coming back?" Tenzin asked.
"That is Sozin's fault. And in time I'll tell you why." Godzilla said before swimming away.
One thing was certain to the entire world.
The Avatar was no longer the sole protector of the world.
The Titans had finally returned and soon would guide humanity as they did before.
Authors Note: And with that the Avatar's Guardian begins. Now This will be something similar to my King of the Monsters story when it comes to Titans in general. Some monsters from other series that fit into the story and some other unique surprises.
