Chapter 2 Student of the King
Its been a couple weeks since the Titans had finally returned from the long slumber they were in.
During that time the people had begun to worship them and learned from the Titans as they did in ancient times.
Of course some were looking for the origins of these creatures wanting to know everything about them.
But with the Titans back the world was safe from the return of their most hated enemies.
The Kaiju.
Right now however though a problem had occurred.
Korra was running for her life as she was being chased by the arrogant member of the White Lotus.
After his views of Korra was made known to all he was kicked out of the White Lotus and vowed Revenge to kill Korra.
So he had hired a few mercenaries to attack the White Lotus so he could finish her off himself.
As she continued to run she looked behind her before bumping into someone.
Looking up she saw a man in special robes and a hood that covered the top half of his face. (Picture Altair's gear from Assassins creed)
"Are you ok?"
"No. He's after me." Korra said.
"He?"
"GET BACK HERE YOU WORTHLESS CHILD!"
"Get behind me."
Korra did exactly that before the former White Lotus member appeared looking sat her with hatred before looking at her protector.
"Get out of my way. That brat will die for taking my position in the White Lotus away from me."
"So you're the one who said she would be a failure because of her gender. Such arrogance. Greatness is not defined by linage nor gender. It defined by our actions both in combat and words."
Korra looked at him in surprise since thats what Godzilla said to her when they first met.
"I DON'T CARE! SHE NEEDS TO DIE! NOW OUT OF MY WAY!"
"I'm going to let you walk away with your life if you leave her alone...Or I'll kill you."
"YOU KILL ME! I'M THE GREATEST FIREBENDER IN HISTORY!"
"I warned you."
Suddenly water surrounded the former White Lotus member before it started squeezing him making him yell in pain before it started squeezing his neck tightly.
"You might want to turn away." He said turning her.
Korra did exactly that when.
CRACK
He turned seeing his neck was broken before water grabbed him and pulled him down.
"Where'd he go?" Korra asked.
"Oh nowhere. Now lets get you back to your parents."
He placed her on his shoulders making her laugh as they walked away.
Meanwhile
"You assured me this wouldn't happen!" Tonraq yelled as the leader of the White Lotus.
"I had no idea he would go this far I assure you." The Leader said.
"As usual your arrogance diminishes your wisdom and sight."
Both turned seeing Korra's savior with her on his shoulders.
"Korra!' Senna yelled rushing to her as he gave her back to her mother as she held her close. "Thank you so much." Senna said grateful.
"It was no trouble."
"It has been a long time Ghost." The Leader said making the now named Ghost glare at him.
"Not long enough. I warned you to pick your members wisely. And yet your so called honorable member tried to kill a little girl because of her gender. Wisdom I think not." Ghost said making him sigh.
"I take it you and the White Lotus have issues." Tonraq said.
"We tried to recruit him a few years back. He declined but we felt he should be with us." The Leader said.
"Should? You tried to force me into your little group of pure thugs. The White Lotus is a shell of it's former self from the Hundred year war days. Pathetic." Ghost said.
"Why are you here anyway?" The Leader asked.
"I'm here because Godzilla asked me to come." Ghost said shocking them all.
"You...Know the King of the Titans?" The Leader asked.
"Where do you think I learned to do this!" Ghost yelled creating a massive wave of water that was as tall as Godzilla easily shocking them all before it came down quickly without creating a wave.
"Wow." Korra said in awe.
"I studied under the original Water bender during my youth. You all think the moon and ocean were the first but thats false. They just make it stronger during the night. Godzilla taught me everything I know. And he asked me to keep an eye on her." Ghost said making Korra smile.
"I assure you we can keep her safe." The Leader said.
"Oh just like you did a few minutes ago. Your group is nothing compared to the power of the Titans. I will be protecting her. You can train her sure. But I warn you. Another incident like this again and you will not have the position of training her anything. And I'll make sure of that. So keep that in mind." Ghost said making him frown.
Later
After that confrontation Ghost was teaching Korra a few things with Katara watching closely along with her parents.
"Water bending requires a calm and collective mind for many." Ghost said before she grinned and tried to send a wave of snow on him but he smirked sending it back without moving.
"YIKES!" Korra yelled as she was buried making him and her parents laugh as her head popped out.
"Yeah nice try." Ghost said chuckling making her giggle.
"No fair. You were taught by Godzilla. Thats makes you stronger." Korra said.
"Strength is not measured by those who teach us. It's who they teach in general that matters. For instance. Normally the Avatars were taught by bending masters and yet Aang was taught by those who officially were not of that title. And look how he turned out. It's who the teachings are passed down to. Not the Teacher." Ghost said making her smile.
"Very wise." Katara said.
"I didn't just learn waterbending from the big lizard you know. I was also taught wisdom. And in time I'll be teaching her what he taught me." Ghost said.
"I thought he was gonna teach me?" Korra asked.
"Now that the Kaiju are coming back and Other Titans are returning he won't have as much time on his hands. So naturally he sent me." Ghost said.
"How did you meet him?" Korra asked making him smile.
"It's a complicated story. In time I'll tell you." Ghost said.
"We'll have to wait for that anyway." Tonraq said making him look seeing a snows storm coming to them.
"Snow storm is coming. We'll have to cut this short." Ghost said.
"Aw." Korra whined as Ghost walked away. "Bye Ghost, Bye Katara." Korra waved making them smile.
After they left and the storm began to cover the area Korra and her family heard howling in the distance.
"Polar bear dogs?" Senna asked.
"Sounds like a whole pack of them." Tonraq said as Korra mimicked the howling making him chuckle before closing the door.
"But Daddy I want to play with them." Korra complained. (Oh brother)
"You can't, sweetie. Polar bear dogs are wild animals. They'd gobble you up in one bite." Tonraq said.
"They don't scare me." Korra said making Senna smirk.
"Well, I wonder where she gets this from?" Senna asked looking at Tonraq who smiled.
Soon Korra and her parents were asleep in their separate beds before Korra heard the howling making her get up before putting warmer clothes on.
Walking outside without waking her parents she followed the noise before mimicking the howling before following it.
Arriving at a ridge she found a lone pup alone and sad making her smile before approaching it making it growl.
"You're just a pup. Are you lost? Did you lose your pack?" Korra asked as it still growled at her. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm friendly." Korra said fishing something out of her jacket. "You like fish Jerky?" Korra asked making it sniff it before eating it. "Your not scary. You're just hungry." Korra said before the storm picked up.
"Uh oh. Which way is home?" Korra asked afraid. "I think we're both lost now." Korra said before.
"Korra?" Ghost asked above her making her look at him. "What in the name of the Titans are you doing out here?" Ghost asked in disbelief.
"I came looking for the Polar bear dogs and found her. She's lost...Like me." Korra said making him sigh before picking her and the pup up as Korra wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried them away.
Arriving at a large hill there was a door before ghost opened it up before Korra looked seeing it filled with candles.
"Welcome to my home." Ghost said taking off her jacket and hanged it up before taking her upstairs before placing her on a large bed next to his as she got under the blankets before the pup did the same. "We'll take you back to your folks in the morning." Sean said about to get in his own bed.
"Ghost?" Korra asked making him look at her. "How did you and Godzilla meet?" Korra asked making him smile softly.
"Ok. I guess I can tell. You see when I was still a teenager I was wounded because of a confrontation I had with some enemies I made. I knew I was not gonna last long since the wounds were deep. Then he showed up. Healed my wounds and I was...Intrigued by him. I studied under him as many have in the past. I became what he calls an Elemental Master. People who are trained by the Titans." Ghost said.
"There are others like you?" Korra asked.
"Sorta. There's a small few others who have also studied under the Titans that are still alive to this day. Not many but still some. Of course bending isn't the only thing they learned. Some Titans actually have unique abilities. Orga is known as the Titan of Regeneration meaning he can heal almost any physical wound. Ghidorah is the master of the skies and lightning. And then theres Godzilla. He brings balance to the world. He leads all the Titans to protect all of us." Sean said before noticing she fell asleep making him chuckle before he got into his own bed and soon sleep claimed him as well.
Next morning
"Korra!" Tonraq yelled as he and Senna were looking for her after noticing her bed was empty.
"Oh where is she?" Senna asked in worry.
"Looking for this again?" Ghost asked making them face him seeing him with Korra along with her pup.
"Korra!" Senna yelled rushing to her as he handed her back. "You had me worried to death." Senna said.
"Sorry." Korra said.
"Where did you find her?" Tonraq asked.
"Last night. She went looking for those polar bear dogs and found this one." Ghost said as the pup was now seen before Senna put Korra down rushing to her now official pet dog Naga. "They've developed a pretty powerful bond in such a short time. I can only assume she's her animal guide like all Avatars have." Ghost said.
"Can I keep her?" Korra asked making both parents look at each other.
"Ask your mother/Father." Both said.
"Smooth. Oh just let her keep the dog. Besides." Ghost said seeing the two play. "How you gonna separate that?" Ghost asked making them smile.
"Well...I guess so." Senna said.
Later
"This is where he lives?" Tonraq asked seeing the door that led into the hill.
"Yup." Korra said opening the door.
"Korra you can't just walk in someone's house without permission." Senna said following her before widening her eyes. "Oh my." Senna said seeing hundreds of books on shelves.
"I guess he likes to read." Tonraq said pulling one out showing it to be a water bending scroll. "Or maybe it's more than just regular books." Tonraq said.
"Wow." Korra said getting their attention.
What they found her looking at surprised them however.
It was a large red bird that looked at them in curiosity.
"I don't think I've ever seen a bird like this before." Senna said as Korra got closer to it as it looked at her with soft eyes making her smile.
"He's pretty." Korra said before he suddenly caught on fire shocking them as his ashes fell into a pot below it.
"Guys?" Ghost said above them as they looked up.
"Ghost...Your bird...It just caught on fire." Senna said.
"Oh and about time too. He's been looking dreadful for days. Sorry you had to see that." Ghost said.
"You aren't sad?" Korra asked.
"No I don't need to be. His name is Fawkes. And he is a creation of the Fire Titan Rodan. He's known as a Phoenix. More than just big red birds. They have special powers. Such as healing with tears. Can grow to say half the Size of a Sky Bison. And can carry great weight. But what really makes them special is this." Ghost said jumping down and picked Korra up. "When they die...They are...Reborn from the Ashes." Ghost said as they looked at the ashes.
Moving from the ashes was a baby Phoenix who chirped making them smile.
"Aw." Korra said.
"Wonderful creatures they are." Ghost said before they noticed he had a bag over his shoulder.
"You going somewhere?" Tonraq asked.
"Yes I'm leaving for a few days to visit some friends of mine." Ghost said putting Korra down.
"Can I come with?" Korra asked making her parents laugh.
"Sorry but this is a thing we do every few years. I'll be gone a few days at best." Ghost said.
"Aw." Korra pouted making them laugh before Ghost took Fawkes who started gaining his feathers again before they left.
Days later
Ghost sighed as he just got back from visiting his friends.
He enjoyed these gatherings every few years to see them.
Arriving at Korra's home he expected to see her training but found only Naga outside.
"Naga?" Ghost said gaining her attention as she whined and whimpered.
Knowing something was wrong he walked inside seeing Tonraq holding his wife close as she sobbed.
"Whats going on? Where's Korra?" Ghost asked as he sighed.
"She's gone." Tonraq said.
"What do you mean gone?" Ghost asked.
"Shortly after you left...My brother Unalaq came...And claimed some ancient law that states if the Avatar when born in the water tribe is raised by someone the Chief believes to be dangerous or incompetent he or she can take he or she away...And thats what he did. He took Korra away from us without a second thought." Tonraq said making Senna sob louder while Ghost clinched his fists before leaving.
"I don't think so." Ghost said knowing who to contact.
Meanwhile
"LET ME GO!" Korra screamed as she was held in place by Unalaq's men.
"I'm sorry Korra. But I'm doing this for your own good. Your father is too misguided to raise you. And I can better protect you as we have our own Titan. King Ghidorah the ruler of the skies." Unalaq said.
"I DON'T CARE! I WANT MY MOMMY AND DADDY!" Korra screamed.
"No. You will never see them..." Unalaq tried to say before a familiar bellowing was heard making him freeze.
"I know that sound." Korra said hopeful.
"I don't know why he's here but I can assure you he will support my choice to..." Unalaq tried to say before the wall that separated the ocean from the Northern Tribe was broken down making him widen his eyes in shock as Godzilla came through looking enraged beyond words.
"UNALAQ!" Godzilla roared before letting out a mighty roar into the air that terrified the people beyond words as he approached the palace.
"Get her inside." Unalaq said as his guards dragged Korra inside as she screamed.
Smashing through several buildings on his way to the palace Godzilla glared at Unalaq.
"You have some nerve!" Godzilla said glaring at him.
"I beg your pardon?" Unalaq asked.
"How dare you take Korra away from her parents! You have no right!" Godzilla yelled.
"Actually I do. As Chief of the Northern Water Tribe I am allowed to use an old law. If I deem that the parents of the Avatar are unfit to raise her. And my brother misguided..." Unalaq tried to say before Godzilla roared at him loudly shocking him.
"Don't feed me your filthy lies! My old student told me about your brother. He is fit to raise her without question. Your reasons are selfish and cruel! Hence you will give her back or else!" Godzilla yelled.
"Or else what?" Unalaq challenged.
"Or else I will order my fellow Titans to let the Kaiju tear down the Northern Water tribe and do nothing about it." Godzilla said shocking him.
"You wouldn't dare!" Unalaq yelled.
"Do you want to test that theory?" Godzilla challenged making him growl knowing he was backed into a corner knowing his people couldn't possibly handle the very beings who almost brought the Titans to their knees making him close his eyes before looking at one of his men.
"Bring the Avatar." Unalaq said making him do that.
"A wise choice for someone who is cruel." Godzilla said making him glare.
When Korra was brought out she gasped seeing him before rushing to him and held him by the nose making him look at her with soft eyes before he picked her up.
"Are you taking me home?" Korra asked.
"No. But a friend you've recently made will." Godzilla said before Korra heard a bird call making her look seeing Fawkes in a larger form before landing down before she got on as Fawkes flew away back to the South.
Godzilla looked at them fly off before glaring at Unalaq who looked nervous.
"You are never to come near her again until she is at the age of 18. And if you try anything I'll kill you myself. Though a protector of all that live in this world I am. I will not tolerate cruelty such as yours. You are unwise and selfish. The spirits will hear of this." Godzilla said turning to walk away making him growl as he was about halfway towards the water before he turned around. "And to make sure my threat sticks." Godzilla said as his spikes started glowing making him widen his eyes before blasting atomic breath at the palace making it explode.
"Understand this all of you. My issues are not with your Tribe. But your Chief who for cruel reasons took the Avatar his niece away from her family when she is only a four year old. Ask yourselves this? Do you want a true monster like him to be your leader who forces his ideals on you. Or would you rather have a wise and kind leader who puts the needs of his people above his own. Think on that you should." Godzilla said before entering the water as the people cried out in rage at Unalaq who growled seeing his reputation and position was compromised.
Meanwhile
Ghost waited at the docks at the south.
Thats when he heard Fawkes making him look seeing him flying to the docks before he landed and shrunk to normal size before Korra saw him and ran to him as he held her close as she started sobbing.
"Shh. It's ok Korra. You're home." Ghost said.
"I don't want to be the Avatar anymore." Korra sobbed making him sigh as he held her face.
"Korra thats not something you can decide. I get it. You're scared because of what your uncle did and from what happened when we first met. I understand that. But you were chosen for a reason. I promise this will never happen again. I promise." Ghost said as he held her close before picking her up to take her back home.
"Thank you." Korra said making him smile.
"Of course." Ghost said as they walked to her home.
At the house
Senna sobbed as Tonraq held her.
Thats when the doors opened up.
"How many times I gotta give this back?" Ghost asked making them look seeing him with Korra making them widen their eyes. "This is like the third time I've returned her to you." Ghost joked as Korra rushed to her parents who picked her up as Senna cried holding her close.
"You went to the North and got Korra back?" Tonraq asked.
"No. I told Godzilla what happened. He was not happy. He won't be bothering you anymore." Ghost said before the doors opened up before he looked seeing the Leader of the White making him glare. "What are you doing here?" Ghost asked.
"After this event we believe it is unwise to keep Korra with her parents. We'll be taking her to our compound and train her." The Leader said.
"Get out." Ghost said glaring at him which shocked him.
"What are you..."
"You were tasked with protecting Korra by Aang's will. You failed...Extremely in that regard. You let someone who tried to kill Korra due to her gender in your so called honorable group. Then you LET Unalaq take Korra while I was gone! That was not what Aang wanted! You're done! You and your goddamn group of thugs are never coming near her again! Do I make myself Clear!" Ghost yelled making him frown.
"And what makes you think you can tell the White Lotus what to do?"
Only for Ghost to grab him by the neck and strangled him making him gasp for air.
"I already killed one of you. I detest killing people period but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty if I have to. You will stay away from her. " Ghost said dropping him as he gasped for air.
"But...Who will teach her?"
"I will. I've studied more than Just Godzilla. I've also studied other Titans of Earth, Fire and Air. I can teach her everything she needs and more." Ghost said glaring at him.
The Leader wanted to protest when water started swirling in front of him before the King of the Titans appeared in Water form.
"You and your order will not be training the Avatar now or ever again. This is my will. You have lost the right to train her. Ignore my will and there will be punishment." Godzilla said making him gulp.
"I...Yes...I understand."
With that the leader of the once honorable and powerful White Lotus left to gather his order to leave the South.
Ghost scoffed in disgust as Godzilla vanished.
"The old order I had more respect for since they were more honorable and powerful." Ghost said.
"Can you really teach her?" Senna asked holding Korra close.
"Of course. I know more than just waterbending. I know everything when it comes to the elements. And in time...Korra will be more powerful than any Avatar since the very first." Ghost said.
Authors Note: Wow this Chapter really got intense. So now the White Lotus can't go anywhere near Korra or face the wrath of Ghost and Godzilla and both combined is a nightmare worse than hell. And Now Unalaq has suffered a massive blow to his reputation and position since Godzilla made what he did public to the Northern Tribe. And Next Chapter is gonna be more exciting for a lot of reasons as you will soon find out. And yes Fawkes is from Harry Potter since this animal just fits into this story for some reason.
