Chapter 3 The Power of the King
Its been about a week since Unalaq tried to force Korra away from her family for his own cruel reasons. Only to have Godzilla come and make him return her to her family before destroying his palace and made the people turn on him.
Then came the White Lotus who were forbidden from coming anywhere near Korra after they tried to do the same thing to her only for Ghost to step in and force them away from her since he and Godzilla forced them to leave.
Now Korra was learning under both Ghost and Katara.
Currently she was studying under the former in Water bending moves.
Korra looked in awe seeing Ghost create Dragon water serpents that actually roared before they dropped down.
"Wow." Korra said in awe making him chuckle.
"I've never seen water bending like that before." Tonraq said impressed.
"You all learned from regular benders. Elemental masters are another story. We can do almost anything depending on what we've learned. I can even heal internal wounds in minutes depending on how serious the injury is." Ghost said.
"Wow. When can I learn to do that?" Korra asked making them chuckle.
"In time. Not everything comes so easily. Especially since you haven't even managed to do airbending but can do the other three." Ghost said making her pout.
"Thats not fair. Why can't I airbend?" Korra asked making him chuckle.
"Simple." Ghost said getting her attention. "Often the Element thats the most difficult to master is based on the Avatar's personality. Considering how you act it's no surprise you can't use airbending just yet. But I can help you unlock it easily." Ghost said.
"Really?" Korra asked excited making him smirk.
"Of course. Don't forget. I studied under other Titans back in the day." Ghost said making her cheer.
"How many Titans are there exactly?" Tonraq asked.
"Being honest theres thousands. But now all are as huge as Godzilla or those bigger than him. No some are smaller but are still large. And they all have their own abilities." Ghost said.
"Which are the strongest?" Korra asked.
"Oh thats easy. Godzilla is the King and for good reason. Ghidorah is the second strongest as he is a master of the Air and lightning. Then theres Destroyah. Another master of the Air and has the ability to burn the flesh right off of a living body in seconds depending on the size." Ghost said.
"I know Ghidorah is in the Northern Water Tribe. But about the Other One?" Tonraq asked.
"He flies around to wherever he wants." Ghost said.
Later
Tonraq and Senna went into town to celebrate their anniversary leaving Ghost and Korra alone.
"Ok we've practiced Water bending. Let's unlock your airbending." Ghost said.
"Yay!" Korra cheered making him chuckle before he sat down.
"First before we do that. What do you know about Airbending?" Ghost asked.
"It's the previous element before Water." Korra said making him nod.
"True. But I'm talking about the element in general. What do you know?" Ghost asked.
"Um..." Korra tried to say but nothing was said making him chuckle.
"Korra. The elements mean something in the world. Let me tell you about Water. To modern society Water represents change because it can move so freely. But back when the power was first handed down by the Titans. It represented something more significant than that." Ghost said
"What does it mean?" Korra asked.
"Life. Without water...Life cannot exist." Ghost said making her look in awe as he stood up. "The other elements also represent life in their own ways. Air represents Freedom in more than physical freedom but emotional and spiritual. Earth represents strength, Strong will and stubbornness. The makings of someone who will not back down so easily. Fire Represents Power but unlike the Fire nation's misuse of it during Sozin's selfish hundred year war it was meant to be used to bring warmth and Life. Fire in a sense represents life. When the flame dies it represents a life that has gone out. But like the Phoenix someone is later reborn into a new flame." Ghost said.
"Wow." Korra said in awe.
"Now. Let's unlock your airbending." Ghost said before gently grabbing her head. "Airbending is also represents something else that most people have forgotten since the days of when it was new. It represents protection. To protect what you love. What you believe in. What you know is right. What is it you want to protect?" Ghost asked Korra as she smiled.
"Mommy and Daddy. Katara...You." Korra said making him smile.
"Then focus on that. Focus on what you want to protect." Ghost said before she turned around before thrusting her arms out and actually airbended making her cheer while Ghost chuckled.
After that Ghost continued to train her in water bending.
Thats when Tonraq and Senna came back.
"She looks like she's having fun." Tonraq said making Ghost chuckle.
"Oh for good reason. Korra. Show them." Ghost said.
"Show us what?" Senna asked before Korra actually airbended surprising them. "I thought she couldn't airbend yet." Senna said.
"I helped her with that. You see like I told you before I know more than just waterbending. Granted its the only bending I can do but I've studied other forms as well from modern time and the Titans." Ghost said sitting down.
"How many Titans do you know exactly?" Tonraq asked.
"The strongest. Godzilla, Ghidorah, Destroyah, Mothra, Rodan, Orga and Biolante." Ghost said.
"They're the strongest?" Senna asked picking Korra up.
"The the first four are. The others are powerful in their own right. Like I said before all Titans are unique and powerful. They each represent something essential in life. When Man first crawled out of the mud Godzilla was the first to see them and saw that they could accomplish great things with proper guidance. I'm living proof of that. When the war against the Kaiju was over he and the rest of the Titans gave man the power of the elements. It was a way to survive since the war exhausted them and needed time to recover." Ghost said.
"But why not before the Hundred year war began?" Tonraq asked.
"It wasn't time. Believe me when I say this. What Sozin did to the Airnomads over a hundred years ago...Enraged him and the Titans completely and condemned him to the lowest levels of hell for his crimes. There is nothing good about what he did." Ghost said.
"But all they could do was watch." Senna said.
"Yeah. But now the Titans are returning and in time will lead the world back to the way things used to be 30,000 years ago." Ghost said.
Days later
Korra laughed as she trained with Katara while Ghost observed.
"Korra, Focus." Ghost said before Tonraq and Senna came out.
"Taking a break?" Tonraq asked amused making him chuckle.
"Hey even I need to let someone else take the roll of teaching every now and then." Ghost said.
"Uh Tonraq." Senna said.
"What?" Tonraq asked before turning and glared.
"What is it?" Ghost asked before seeing Unalaq who looked enraged
"Get behind me." Katara said making Korra do that.
"What do you think you're doing here? You were warned not come anywhere near her!" Ghost yelled.
"I'm not here for her. I'm here for you. You are gonna summon that thing so I may Kill him." Unalaq said as several of his guards were seen.
Tonraq and Senna also saw Eska while her brother Desna had his face covered up.
"And why would I ever do that?" Ghost asked.
"That monster murdered my wife! When he blasted the palace it killed her. And more so scarred Desna for life." Unalaq said enraged.
"What do you mean scarred?" Tonraq asked before he walked to his son and pulled the hood off his face making him widen his eyes while Senna covered her mouth in shock.
The right side of Desna's face was horribly burned and his eye was now clearly blind along with missing the right side of his head's hair.
"THIS! You're so called honorable teacher did this to my son!" Unalaq roared.
"Looks more like an improvement if you ask me." Ghost said shocking him before growling in rage. "You brought this on yourself! You took Korra away from her parents for cruel and selfish reasons. Not to mention you lied about some BS law of the Water Tribe." Ghost said making Tonraq glare at his brother.
"What?" Tonraq asked.
"There is no law that says he can take the Avatar away from his family for those BS reasons he made up. He just wanted to take Korra away for his own reasons." Ghost said making Tonraq grab his brother.
"Is that true?" Tonraq asked.
"So what? You are misguided and therefore are unfit to raise the Avatar!" Unalaq yelled before Tonraq slugged him much to his shock.
"I can't believe we're actually brothers." Tonraq said.
"Perhaps he was adopted after his family threw him in trash." Ghost said making him growl.
"I don't know how the King knew I took her but..." Unalaq tried to say.
"I told him." Ghost said shocking him. "He was beyond enraged at what you had done. And from what I understand your reputation and your position have been compromised." Ghost said making him seethe.
"You...YOU HAD NO RIGHT!" Unalaq yelled.
"I had every right. What you did was cruel and inhuman. Separating a little girl from her family. A family she loved. Do you have any idea what that could have done to her emotionally! Every Avatar minus the ones born Airbenders and small few others have all lived with their families until they were 16! But you tried to force her away from her's for cruel and selfish reasons. You got what you deserved. The Death of your wife and your son's burned face came from YOUR actions!" Ghost yelled making him growl.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Unalaq roared before attacking him but Ghost easily dodged before blasting his guards away easily before Unalaq had Water swirl around him trying to dash at him but he dodged easily.
"You think you can defeat me? Please. I've been trained by the King himself." Ghost said avoiding all of Unalaq's attacks easily making him more enraged.
Korra watched from behind Katara seeing Ghost actually fight someone for the first time.
"Don't worry I'm sure he'll be find." Katara said.
Ghost avoided another blast from Unalaq before he accidentally blasted his own son much to his shock.
"Once again your actions have consequences. I'm not trying to fight you since your not worth my time." Ghost said before groaning as his foot had an ice spike in it before Unalaq blasted him down before grabbing his throat and strangled him.
"UNALAQ!" Tonraq yelled.
"I'll kill you and then I'll kill that monster for what he's done!" Unalaq yelled before Ghost's mouth started to glow followed by a familiar humming sound before Ghost actually blasted him with atomic breath and hit him in the chest making him scream in pain as he flew in the air before landing hard and groaned in pain shocking everyone as Ghost stood up.
"Water bending isn't the only thing Godzilla taught me." Ghost said as he approached him as Unalaq groaned in pain before Ghost slammed his foot on him making him groan louder. "Try all you wish but you will never best the likes of me." Ghost said glaring at him making him seethe in rage. "Begone or die." Ghost said stepping off him as he walked away to his kids with Desna wounded.
"You will pay for this. Be certain of that." Unalaq said.
"Oh I'm shaking in my boots. Go threaten someone who would be intimated by you like a damn fish." Ghost said making him glare before walking away with his kids and guards.
"You ok?" Tonraq asked as Korra rushed to him.
"Ah. Don't worry. I've dealt with a lot worse." Ghost said.
"That was cool. Can you teach me to do that?" Korra asked making him chuckle.
"Maybe in later years." Ghost said making her pout while the others laughed.
"What about your foot?" Senna asked seeing blood.
"Ah. I'll worry about that later. I can't believe you two are actually related." Ghost said to Tonraq who sighed.
"He's always been someone who considers himself spiritually enlightened and thinks everyone should be as well." Tonraq said.
"Being Spiritually enlightened is fine and all but forcing others to be the same is selfish. It's why I'm more supportive of the idea of Titans leading humanity rather than itself since The Titans led mankind into an age of greatness. Mankind has only led itself into petty war and suffering throughout the last 30,000 years." Ghost said.
"So what do you plan to do now about my brother?" Tonraq asked.
"Nothing. He's not worth the trouble. But if he does cause me any other trouble I'll deal with him quickly." Ghost said.
Days later
Ghost was inside his home with Korra and her parents looking at various books and scrolls.
Also with them were Tenzin, Fire Lord Zuko and Sokka.
"I understand you have some issues with the White Lotus but you can't just have them leave." Tenzin said.
"Actually I can. I went to their compound and overheard some of their members. They were gonna brag about how they trained the Avatar to increase their reputation." Ghost said surprising them.
"What?" Tenzin asked in shock.
"It's all true. The Leader of course denied this but I heard enough. The order is shell of its former self. I know war brings greatness and all in abilities. But even so the Order has nothing but regular benders in it." Ghost said.
"I'm afraid he's not wrong. I've had some of my men train against them and my expectations have diminished. They aren't anything like the order my Uncle led in his day." Zuko said.
"Same. My grandfather would disappointed by how low they've fallen. All the best benders when we were just kids had a hundred times more skill than this one does. It's really depressing to be honest." Sokka said.
"Coming from the guy who contributed very little until he got a sword." Ghost teased making him choke on his drink before glaring at him making Zuko and Tenzin chuckle.
"I hate you." Sokka said making him chuckle.
"Ghost." Korra said getting his attention.
"Yes?" Ghost asked before she ran to him with a scroll in hand.
"Whats this?" Korra asked as he opened it.
"Ah this is an old scroll on creating massive waves. I'll be teaching you that soon enough." Ghost said making her smile.
"How is it that you have all this? It must have taken years to collect so much knowledge." Tenzin said.
"I'm something of a collector you see." Ghost said.
"So you collect certain relics of water bending." Tenzin said.
"Mostly." Ghost said.
However as this group was talking a group of four arrived in the South with Ill intentions for Korra.
As everyone continued to talk Ghost suddenly narrowed his eyes before walking to the door before Tonraq followed him outside.
"What is it?" Tonraq asked.
"I sense some people are coming here to get Korra. I can easily tell. Someone wants her for something." Ghost said making him narrow his eyes. "Keep her here. This place is hidden and known only to those inside. I'll be back." Ghost said using water bending to rush off.
Ghost continued to look for those who were after Korra before he spotted four people and landed in front of them.
"Who are you?" Ghost questioned.
"I am Zaheer. These are P'li, Ming-Hua and Ghazan. We are here for the Avatar." Zaheer said making him glare.
"Your not going anywhere near her. Turn back now." Ghost said as water swirled around him.
"You will move aside." Zaheer said.
"Make me." Ghost said before Water Serpents appeared before attacking them head on.
"This must be Ghost." P'li said before she actually started combustion bending much to Ghost's surprise.
"A combustion Bender. You're kind a rarity." Ghost said making her smirk before Ming-Hua attacked him but he blocked her attacks easily before blasting her back making her grunt before Ghazan used a few rocks before turning to lava before Ghost blasted it with Water.
"Lava Bender huh? So I got two with rare abilities and a powerful Water Bender and a Non-bender. A rather interesting lineup." Ghost said before summoning a large amount of water before nearly slashing them but they dodged before Zaheer got close to him and nearly slashed his face but it was blocked by ice making him widen his eyes at the quick defense before getting blasted back.
"Your a lot more powerful than people let on. Too bad you won't side with us." Zaheer said.
"I have no interest in siding with those who go after Children." Ghost said before a water serpent attacked Zaheer but he dodged.
Meanwhile
Everyone back at Ghost's home sensed the battle from the distance.
"Wonder who he's fighting." Sokka said.
"Someone who's got enough skill to last this long." Zuko said.
Korra felt all this before she tried to run out but her father picked her up.
"Stay here Korra." Tonraq said.
"But..." Korra tried to say.
"No. Ghost will be find." Tonraq said but saw the look of concern on her face.
Meanwhile
Ghost continued to evade all their attacks easily before blasting P'li and Zaheer away before Ming-Hua tried to stab him in the back but he dodged before dashing at her and caught her arms in water before it started to freeze solid shocking her.
"What are you doing!" Ming-Hua asked in alarm.
"This." Ghost said before busting her arms into a thousand pieces making her shriek in horror that her arms were destroyed completely.
Ghazan roared before trying to lava bend him but he dodged easily before Ghost called forth a serpent who roared before dashing at him making him yell as it slammed down into him and knocked him out.
Grunting he got stabbed in the back by Ming-Hua using water arms.
"So you can still bend without the arms. I'm impressed." Ghost said before blasting her back knocking her out.
Thats when he got hit by P'li making him groan as he fell to his knees.
"Now you're finished." P'li said before the ice under him cracked apart before something came through.
A large Titan that like Godzilla was Reptilian and had spikes on his back with two large ones on his shoulders and had yellow eyes.
"Allow me to introduce a distant relative of Godzilla. Zilla." Ghost said as Zilla roared at them before smacking them away knocking out Zaheer before P'li growled and tried to blast them but Zilla just roared before smacking his tail into her making her grunt as she crashed down before Ghost encased them in water.
"I would recommend learning their true objective before killing them my friend." Zilla said.
"Yes. That would be wise. Unalaq could have sent them. Take me to the White Lotus compound." Ghost said making him do just that while carrying the four.
Arriving at the compound Ghost jumped down in front of the leader with Zaheer and his allies still out cold.
"Who are these people?" The Leader asked.
"That is what you are going to tell me. They wanted to kidnap Korra. Why I am unsure but it matters not. They failed. You are going to imprison them in cells designed to impair their abilities. You are still charged with protecting the Avatar. Keep them contained and I might spread a good word for you in later years for doing this." Ghost said.
"Very well. We shall keep them contained and learn their objective." The Leader said before Ghost jumped back on Zilla who took him back to his home.
Korra and the others waited at Ghost's home.
"Maybe we should go look for him." Tenzin said before they heard Zilla roar making them look seeing Zilla approaching them before Ghost jumped off.
"Thank you my friend." Ghost said as Zilla walked away.
Thats when Korra jumped into his arms making him chuckle.
"So what happened?" Tenzin asked.
"I'll explain later." Ghost said.
Later
Korra was fast asleep on one of Ghost's bed's with her mother watching over her.
"So Zaheer and three others wanted to take Korra? Why?" Zuko asked.
"They never said and I very much doubt they would tell. Doesn't matter. They are contained and hopefully in time we'll learn what they are up to. I do however suspect Unalaq is behind this." Ghost said.
"Are you sure?" Tonraq asked.
"The timing points in that direction." Ghost said.
"I agree. He may be holding a grudge and felt perhaps using Korra as bait would draw Godzilla out. And I never knew there was another Titan here." Tenzin said.
"His name is Zilla. He's a distance relative of Godzilla's. Not as large but still powerful." Ghost said.
"How many Titans are here exactly?" Zuko asked.
"About a dozen. Most Titans are actually out in the Ocean believe it or not." Ghost said.
"And when will all of them return?" Tenzin asked.
"They'll awaken when they want to. But all will in time." Ghost said looking at Korra as she slept making him smile.
Authors Note: And with that the Red Lotus have been defeated and another Titan has risen. One of my favorites. Now we begin season 1. But this weekend I'm gonna try and upload some other stuff before getting back into this. Like say upload a remastered version of an old story or so. But we'll find out later this weekend.
