Chapter 14 Forgiveness
Korra sat next to Sean as he recovered from the poison as she held his hand.
It's been three days since Mothra arrived at the South and healed Sean and Godzilla from the poison Hiroshi used on him along with several other people both in the South and Republic City. (Sora I swear to god. Godzilla didn't collapse in Republic City they were in the South I said as much when the Chapter started! PAY ATTENTION AND READ CAREFULLY!)
And since Mothra removed herself form Sarah for her actions.
Sighing Korra got up before going down stairs to get a drink seeing the others.
"How is he?" Senna asked.
"He's doing better. The Effects of the poison are slowly leaving. He's gonna need another week before he's back to his old self." Korra said.
"I still can't believe his own sister was ok with him dying." Asami said.
"I can. She's nothing but a spoiled brat. She deserves to be alone. Without Mothra I'll bet she's feeling just that." Turok said.
"Thats kinda harsh Turok." Senna said.
"I don't care. She's was gonna let them die. If the situation was reversed he would have helped her regardless if she wanted it or not. At least until..." Turok tried to say before someone knocked on the door before it opened up.
"We expecting someone?" Reznov asked before walking into to the room to a certain fews shock was Sarah who held her head down.
"Hey." Sarah said.
"What the fuck are you doing here? Get out." Turok said.
"Look...I'm not here to cause trouble for him or anyone." Sarah said.
"We don't care." Reznov said.
"You shouldn't be here Sarah. We don't want you here." Julia said.
"I know. I know I deserve whatever treatment you give me for not helping them when they needed it. For all those things I said. I came here to apologize. For everything." Sarah said.
"Where the hell is this coming from?" Turok asked not believing this for a second.
"After Mothra left...I never felt so alone in my life. I realized I pushed everyone away...All those things I said...Just staying in that cave...Rarely ever leaving. I wasted 30,000 years...Of my life for nothing." Sarah said.
"We at least did something with ours. We helped people. We trained people. Kruger trained wise and noble leaders and the Avatar when he found the 10th one and trained every single one after. He made amends for what he did. The fuck have you done?" Reznov asked making her hold her head down.
"Nothing." Sarah said.
"You wasted Mothra's potential to do good. Hell! She could have healed the other Titans 20,000 years ago sooner and brought back the old rule and made things good again! But you screwed that up for your own selfish reasons!" Turok yelled.
"I know I..." Sarah said.
"Just shut up. Get out. And don't ever come back." Turok said.
"Turok." Jinora said.
"You don't understand! This piece of shit has been clinging to the past and wasted her life away doing nothing! We at least moved on." Turok said.
"Ok thats enough." Tonraq said.
"Sarah...You need to leave. Your brother is still recovering from the poison and seeing you would only make things worse." Korra said glaring at her.
"Look...I just want to apologize and..." Sarah tried to say before they heard footsteps making them look seeing Sean come down still sluggish before he looked at her.
"It's been a long time...Sarah." Sean said.
"Yeah." Sarah said as he slowly walked down. "I know...What I've done and said...Can't be easily forgiven but..." Sarah tried to say before he stood in front of her. "Sean please." Sarah said before he smacked her into a wall shocking the others minus Turok, Reznov and Julia.
"Get out." Sean said about to walk away.
"Ok I know I deserve harsh treatment for what I've said but I don't think I deserved that." Sarah said making him stop.
"You think I did that because of what you said or the fact that you were gonna let us die? No. Not even fucking close." Sean said.
"Then what was that about?" Sarah asked.
"You really have no idea do you? Have you really been in that cave all this time? Have you not even ventured out to see the world as it was? If so you really deserved that." Sean said.
"Look...What was that for? Honestly I don't know." Sarah said.
"Your really gonna make me say it aren't you?" Sean asked.
"Yes. Cause I have no idea what you're talking about." Sarah said confused.
"I'm talking about Mecha Godzilla." Sean said making her eyes widen in shock while everyone looked at her. "I know you built that thing." Sean said shocking the others.
"How did...How did you know about that?" Sarah asked.
"You built that thing? To kill your own brother?" Korra asked pissed off.
"I...Yes I built it in anger! But I didn't go through with it! I couldn't...I didn't have the nerve and Mothra convinced me not to because the world needed Godzilla. So I sealed it away..." Sarah said.
"Not very good." Turok said.
"You know the most important principal this family has when it comes to science. NEVER make a weapon. And you broke that rule! Without a second thought." Sean said glaring at her.
"I...I wasn't thinking straight when I made it." Sarah said.
"Don't hand me that BS. You knew what you were doing! Otherwise you would have destroyed it! My guess is after you finished it you couldn't find me and gave up and lived in that goddamn cave! And you used it to make that thing!" Sean yelled.
"It?" Korra asked.
"We had a way to rebuild the world back to the way our era used to be. We had to wait of course until the Titans all healed. We didn't trust mankind to rule itself with such technology. Hiroshi was living proof of that." Julia said.
"It's called the Transfigure Matrix. It's a powerful Relic that the Titans ordered to be made...Incase something ever happened to the Golden Era. All of our history and technology is stored on it. And it can make almost anything. Thats how she built it and why it stayed operational for so long." Sean said.
"We all agreed not to touch it until the Titans had all awakened, Sarah." Turok said glaring at her.
"You went behind our backs and made a weapon out of it." Reznov said.
"I wasn't thinking straight. I regretted making it shortly after it was finished when I realized what I was doing." Sarah said.
"But you didn't destroy it." Sean said. "And it fell into the hands of a mad man who used it to kill millions. That blood is on your hands." Sean said shocking her.
"I..." Sarah tried to say.
"Save it. You can lie to yourself all you want. But you can't lie to me. You knew what you were doing. You wanted to kill me...Your own brother. Despite the fact I was always there for you. Always. Who comforted you when you felt sad seeing the other kids with their parents? Who helped you with your school work? Who inspired you to become a scientist like everyone else in the family? I did. And your turned your back on me in less than a second." Sean said making her tear up.
"Sean...Please." Sarah said.
"You are no longer part of this family. I don't wanna see you again. I don't wanna hear from you again. And I sure as hell don't want you anywhere near my kids. You have only yourself to blame for the rest of eternity. Get out." Sean said making her sob as she ran out the door.
"Sean..." Senna tried to say.
"Not a word." Sean said heading back upstairs.
"I got this." Korra said heading up with him seeing him lay back on the bed. "You knew all along it was her." Korra said.
"Yeah...I didn't say anything because...I didn't know what to say. My own sister wanted me dead? For an honest mistake. "I'm not the only one she felt should be punished for an honest mistake either." Sean said.
"What are you talking about?" Korra asked.
"My...Former mentor when I first started out in the labs...Was the same guy who's experiment got my parents killed. He thought teaching me would make amends for what he did. Like me he took responsibility for his actions. He was the head scientist of the labs in Titan City back in those days. When the accident happened he stepped down due to the guilt. When Sarah found out she begged the Titans to have him killed but they refused. They didn't believe those who made honest mistakes should be punished by death. Neither did I." Sean said.
"And then she tried to get them to punish you because you brought the Kaiju here." Korra said.
"Yeah. I tried to explain what happened but she wouldn't listen. The fact that my own sister turned on my in less than a second..." Sean trailed off before he broke down and sobbed as she held him.
"Shhh." Korra said holding him close.
Lin listened to all this and frowned thinking of her own sister before she left.
"Lin." Tenzin said stopping her. "What are you gonna do? You just got your bending back because of King Caesar." Tenzin said.
"I don't know honestly." Lin said before she left to find Sarah.
"What did Sean mean by the rest of eternity? Isn't she mortal now because she separated from Mothra?" Asami asked.
"No. It doesn't work that way. When the Energies of the Titans flow through us it makes us eternal not immortal. Immortality means you can't die from anything period. Eternal means you can't die from age. And thats something we can give to anyone. But the energy is forever and can't be removed. Sean's no doubt already given it to Korra and it'll take effect in a few years. And probably given it to some in this room." Turok said.
"You mean like us." Tonraq said holding his wife.
"Obviously. I doubt he would want Korra to lose her parents when we lost ours." Turok said.
"Why didn't he give it to Yangchen or Kyoshi?" Tenzin asked.
"Yangchen I can only assume because their relationship failed because of his past and Kyoshi had found a means to stay alive longer by a more natural way but like Yangchen their relationship failed and he didn't give it to her because they were no longer an item and she most likely would have refused if she couldn't be with him." Turok said.
"Besides it wasn't like they were gone for good." Reznov said.
"True." Tenzin said.
"Korra however got him to open up about his past and never judged him. And now because they are having a baby he wants her to be with him for all eternity." Turok said.
Meanwhile
Sarah was in the Southern Water Tribe watching people go by before noticing a family of three enjoying themselves looking happy making her close her eyes.
"Thought I might find you here." Lin said making her face her.
"What do you want? Here to remind me I'm a lousy sister who got millions killed?" Sarah asked expecting it.
"No. Just to talk." Lin said leading her away from the city. "Why don't you explain how this started." Lin said making her sigh.
"I heard Sean was the one who brought the Kaiju to Earth. I was just so mad at him for bringing those things here...I asked the Titans to punish him but they said no saying his actions were not intentional." Sarah said.
"And you didn't believe that?" Lin asked.
"No. I knew that was true but what he did. It ruined everything. All our lives were good back then. Then he brought them here and they destroyed everything in their path." Sarah said.
"Didn't you consider how he felt?" Lin asked making her stop.
"No. That idea never came to mind. I was just so angry. I lost friends and family...And Hitomi was killed too." Sarah said.
"You looked up to her." Lin guessed.
"I wanted to be just like her. I never talked to him ever again when I learned the truth. I was one of the only few people who felt he should have been punished." Sarah said.
"And how many was that?" Lin asked.
"4." Sarah said.
"Just four?" Lin asked surprised.
"One of them was someone who was deeply in love with Hitomi and wanted revenge for her being taken away. The other two just felt it should be fair he be punished for his actions. Those two had a change of heart when the Titans said no one should be punished so severely for an honest mistake. I never believed that because of how my parents were killed." Sarah said.
"Sean told Korra about that. He said it was an accident and he took responsibility for his actions. Sarah...People aren't perfect. We're not perfect. I made my own mistake. I thought your brother also should be killed but not for the right reasons even before I knew the truth. I felt the Titans were nothing but monsters and should be killed. All of them. I exposed Sean's worst memory to a crowd of nobles and called him a pathetic coward. Godzilla almost killed me if Orga hadn't healed me. I learned shortly after that how flawed my view was. I made a terrible mistake and I paid for it. I think I made some amends by sacrificing myself to save Tenzin and his family...Even though it was for nothing in the end." Lin said surprising her.
"What am I supposed to do? He's never gonna forgive me." Sarah said.
"The only thing I can tell you is to admit you messed up. It won't be easy. You'll have to earn their trust again." Lin said.
Later
Sean sighed as he was using Water Bending or at least trying since the poison had damaged his connection and would take time to fully recover it.
"FUCK!" Sean yelled annoyed.
"Calm down. You said it yourself the poison did a lot of damage." Korra said holding his arm.
"I know...But not being able to use my bending makes me feel...I don't know...Strange." Sean said making her giggle.
"I know the feeling if I couldn't use my bending. It'll come back." Korra said kissing him making him smile.
"I uh...Thanks for helping me through all this...It really means a lot." Sean said making her smile.
"I'd help you through anything. So...Are you really never gonna talk to your sister again?" Korra asked making him sigh.
"I...Don't know to be honest. I can easily look past all the crap she thought about me cause she was angry and I don't blame her. It's the fact she made that giant metal monster to kill me I can't stand. She made it and now a million people are dead because Hiroshi found it." Sean said.
"You said your family never made weapons. Like ever?" Korra asked.
"No. Not once. It was a family rule we had. Never make a weapon that could be used to harm people. We didn't make them or advise on making them. It was a rule we made since Technology was made. We just didn't feel safe knowing they could be used to hurt people. And Sarah went ahead and made one without a second thought. She can say whatever she wants...But I know the truth...We all do." Sean said.
"But...Everyone forgave you despite what you did was worse." Korra said.
"Here is the difference between me and her. What I did was an accident and made amends for my actions by training wise leaders and the Avatars near the very beginning during the 10th. With you being my best since I didn't hold back on your training since you had so much potential like Kyoshi and Yangchen did." Sean said making her smile. "What she did was on purpose and it went against our family tradition. Thats not something this family can just so easily forgive...No matter how much we want to." Sean said before looking up and narrowed his eyes seeing said person walking to them "Get inside." Sean said making her do so. "I told you never to come back, Sarah." Sean said.
"Look...I just wanna talk. Please." Sarah said making him frown.
"Fine...Talk." Sean said
"I know I screwed up. What I did went against our family traditions. I was just so angry...And I always believed people should be punished for their crimes ever since I learned what happened to our parents. I just...Didn't think straight like I am now. I made a terrible weapon...Got innocent people killed." Sarah said as the others came out. "I never should have made it. You're right I should have destroyed it. And I have to live with that guilt for the rest of my life knowing what I made got innocent people killed by a mad man." Sarah said.
"Why is she here?" Turok asked glaring at her.
"Quiet." Reznov said.
"I know I don't deserve to be forgiven...I'm just asking for another chance." Sarah said making Sean close his eyes for a minute before opening them.
"Are you done?" Sean asked shocking her. "You can talk all you like but the fact is Sarah...I can't trust you anymore. The being Angry part I get...But building that thing is unacceptable. You made it to kill me without a second thought. And you just left it. If that thing had fallen into Sozin's hands during the hundred year war millions more would have been slaughtered for his sick pleasure of trying to rule the world. Not only that but you forced Mothra to do nothing while the rest of us and the Titans inside us used our powers to help others. While you did nothing. You expect me to give you a second chance? That you've changed. You haven't." Sean said making her glare.
"You know what Sean? Your the one who hasn't changed. Still arrogant in everything you say. Too bad Hitomi didn't see it. She might still be alive if she had." Sarah said making him widen his eyes in shock before growling in rage before blasting her with water making her skid back.
"Ok! Thats it!" Sean roared before creating Water Serpents who roared as they charged at her but she dodged before she flew in the air.
"Oh boy. This is not what I had in mind." Lin said.
"What did you do now?" Korra asked.
"I was trying to help her. Sean's the one who didn't give her another chance." Lin said as Sarah yelled as she got slammed down hard before a water hand grabbed her and squeezed making her groan.
"You should have Kept Hitomi out of it. You might have lived longer!" Sean yelled slamming her down a few times making her yell in pain before Sean brought her close to him dropping her before slamming his foot on her back.
"Sean stop!" Tenzin yelled before Reznov held him back.
"Stay out of this." Orga said.
"This is between them." Destroyah said.
Sean growled as he looked at his sister before water dashed into the air swirling around before the tip froze before it dashed to her making her close her eyes waiting for the end.
Only to feel water hit her making her open her eyes seeing Sean look at her before sighing.
"What are you waiting for?" Sarah asked.
"Sarah, As much I want to hate you for the pain you've caused me. For clinging to the past and not moving on. For preventing Mothra from helping people. For getting millions of people killed...I can't." Sean said shocking her. "Cause you're still my little sister. And I promised Mom and Dad on their graves...I would never leave you...No matter what you've done...And that is never gonna change...No matter what." Sean said before walking away back inside as Sarah broke down sobbing before Korra walked to her and held as she cried on her chest.
"Shhh." Korra said holding her close.
Later
Sarah looked out at the ocean sitting on a cliff.
"Figured I'd find you here." Sean said sitting down next to her.
"I thought you wouldn't talk to me anymore." Sarah said making him sigh.
"Sarah...We need to move past this. This is 30,000 years of shit we need to forget. I made a mistake. I moved on...Mostly." Sean said.
"Mostly?" Sarah asked.
"I'm never gonna forget I'm the one who brought those things here. And the lives of 20 billion people are my fault. But I knew I had to move on with my life...Cause thats what Hitomi would want. Wasn't easy. I trained people to make amends for what I did. Trained almost Every Avatar to help keep the world in balance. Even dated a couple before Korra." Sean said.
"Why didn't it work?" Sarah asked.
"Ah that was my fault. I pushed them away because of my past. I loved them as I did Hitomi. Then I met Korra when she was only four. I trained her...protected her. Made her enjoy her life with her family when she wasn't training. And I fell in love with her. Told her the truth of my past. She never hated me for what I did because she knew it was an honest mistake. And now...We have a baby on the way. You know I've always wanted a family of my own." Sean said making her nod.
"You and Hitomi." Sarah said making him nod.
"Yeah. I know she would be proud of who I've become since that day. No longer arrogant in my abilities. Trained people to be good leaders." Sean said.
"And while I've done nothing but waste my time in that cave and Mothra's." Sarah said.
"Yes. But...Everyone does deserve a second chance. Thats what the Titans have always taught." Sean said before she started crying before he held her close.
"I'm so sorry!" Sarah cried.
"Shhh. I forgive you." Sean said holding her close before they heard a familiar calling sound making them look before Mothra dropped down.
"Mothra." Sarah said surprised.
"What are you doing here?" Sean asked as they stood up.
"Rejoining her of course." Mothra said surprising Sarah. "I left you...As a test. I knew you two needed to reconcile past your issues of the past. Leaving was the only way that would happen. I knew you would feel alone and most likely go to them knowing where Sean was. And now you two are finally reconnecting again after 30,000 years." Mothra said.
"You always did make risky plans." Godzilla said.
"Your one to talk." Mothra said making him chuckle.
Mothra suddenly glowed before merging back with Sarah again as Sean held her close.
"I promise...I won't mess this up." Sarah said making Sean smile.
"I know." Sean said before the two walked back home.
Later
"Oh come on!" Sarah yelled as Turok was about to play the blooper video they made in their era.
"Ah. Girls who made weapons don't get a say." Turok said making her glare.
"Grr I fucking hate you!" Sarah yelled.
"Sorry. But you don't get a say." Turok said.
"But I do." Sean said taking the remote.
"Damnit!" Turok said making everyone chuckle.
"No way in hell am I playing that video." Sean said.
"So I see Sarah and Turok but where are Dawn and David?" Korra asked.
"What makes you think they are still alive?" Sean asked.
"I'm not stupid. You taught me to see things." Korra said making him chuckle.
"Ok. Dawn holds Rodan and David holds the second most powerful Titan. Ghidorah." Sean said.
"Oh so thats why you brought those names up 13 years ago." Korra said remembering them when he brought up Godzilla, Ghidorah, Destroyah, Mothra, Rodan, Orga and Biollante. "All seven of you hold them." Korra said.
"Yup. Speaking of whom. I think it's time this family finally come back together. Starting with Dawn in the Fire Nation." Sean said.
"Can't we get her last. David is more forgiving than she is when it comes to me." Sarah said wanting to avoid the obvious fight.
"Save the best for last as the saying goes." Sean said making her sigh.
'Well, great.' Sarah said.
'Calm down. I'm sure things will work out.' Mothra said.
'Yeah, sure.' Sarah said not believing that for a second.
Authors Note: Welp. That was dramatic. Sean and Sarah finally reconciled after 30,000 years and now Mothra is once more rejoined with her having actually left her to help her finally reconnect with her family and move on. Now next chapter we see some more Titans and meet Dawn and her Titan Rodan. And boy is is gonna be tense when the two twins meet each other again after 30,000 years. Read, Review, Fav and Follow.
