Chapter 22 Rebel Spirit
It's been a couple months since Korra gave birth to the twins Junior and Hitomi in the South after 10 months of her pregnancy.
And since Mark had gone off the deep end and used the Matrix to make his own MechaGodzilla to try and kill him to make Korra be his wife and kill her unborn children for his own sick pleasures.
Fortunately he was defeated since unlike Sarah's version his was rushed and only had half as much power as her's did making it easy to defeat him.
Now Sean and Korra were once more back in Titan City raising the Twins in Sean's estate.
As for the others everything was going pretty good.
Asami was running her father's company and since she had connections to Sean and the Titans her business was thriving much to her relief since she was worried because of what her father did it would go into bankruptcy.
Mako now had a job in the police which he greatly enjoyed.
And the police actually had less work than they did when Republic City was around. The rules in Titan City made it impossible for criminal organizations to thrive like they did when Republic City was around.
This in turn made life for people much better since they no longer had to worry about the safety of their families.
Especially since The Titans took the bending of any remaining criminals that managed to escape Amon and Hiroshi which made life even better for the innocent.
Although Tahno and his team begged the Titans to give their bending back saying they would never cheat again.
But both Sean and Godzilla told them they blew it and didn't believe them saying they had lost the right to have it due to their own actions.
And of course David and Asami had gotten very close since the Twins were born.
And last but not least Tenzin's brother Bumi had retired from the military now known as The Earth Defense Force and moved to Air Temple Island.
This of course annoyed Tenzin having to deal with his brother.
Right now however though?
Sean smiled as he held the Twins in hand as Korra raced the airbending kids on Air scooters before she went into the Avatar State and got a speed boost beating Ikki before landing next to her family.
"The Avatar is the winner!" Bumi yelled.
Korra deactivated the Avatar state before facing her husband with a smirk.
"Do I get a prize for winning?" Korra asked making him chuckle as he kissed her before taking the Twins and put them in two slings around her to keep them close.
The three were almost inseparable since she gave birth.
"Mommy loves you two so much." Korra said kissing their foreheads making them laugh.
Thats when Ikki rushed to them annoyed making them smirk.
"Thats not fair! You can't go into the Avatar state to win!" Ikki yelled making Korra smirk as he kids laughed.
"You did what!" Tenzin yelled.
"Nice going." Sean said.
"The Avatar state is not to be used as a booster Rocket. You are playing with a dangerous power that you obviously do not appreciate." Tenzin said.
"Oh come on Tenzin. It was one small thing. It's not the end of the world." Korra said.
"Clearly you need more training to grasp the depth of your spiritual connection. Plus you still have some more training to master your airbending since we had to put it on hold because of your pregnancy." Tenzin said.
"For what? Whats the point anymore?" Korra asked shocking him. "Tenzin the Titans are coming back. Titan City is back and thriving. Crime is nearly none existent. Mark and Hiroshi are in prison. The White Lotus will be disbanded soon. The world's coming back to the way it used to be 30,000 years ago. They don't need the Avatar anymore. I'm ok with that." Korra said before holding Hitomi. "You want mommy around more don't you?" Korra asked rubbing her nose against her making her giggle.
"Korra, while most of that is true there are still threats out there. The Kaiju and now the Titans that don't share the same coexistent view as Godzilla and the others. Until all the Titans are back and when we make a new generation of Airbenders the Avatar is still needed. Think of it as extra training to protect Junior and Hitomi." Sean said making her smile looking at her son.
"Well, When you put it that way." Korra said.
"Hopefully our visit to all the air temples will help you improve your connection to the Past Avatars like my father and the others. Even though your correct that the world won't need the Avatar in a few years or a decade at most. You do still need to fully master all your abilities. And with immortality you can master them like no other Avatar before you. Even Kyoshi and she was one of the best." Tenzin said.
"All right you made your point. But I have done good on my airbending before I got pregnant" Korra said demonstrating with high level abilities. "So technically I have mastered it." Korra said.
"Looks pretty good to me." Bumi said making Tenzin sigh.
"Is it too late for you to un-retire from the Earth Defense force?" Tenzin almost begged.
"The paperwork's gone through, little brother. From now on, It's 24/7 Bumi time!" Bumi said grabbing his face making him sigh.
"As good as you are theres no reason not to keep training. Even during the last 30,000 years I always trained to master my abilities. The only only ability I never mastered was Blood bending since I saw it as a perversion of what I had created." Sean said.
"I can't blame you for that one. So if we are going to the air temples it might do me some good." Korra said.
"And then theres the fact that us being away from the City might make the President feel more bold about doing whatever he wants." Sean said.
That was another thing. The City had finally elected a president named Raiko of Titan City.
Now The Test to see if man could lead the city was put into effect or see him become corrupted by all that power he had.
"Oh yeah thats right." Korra said as Hitomi yawned making her smile.
"Now that the President is in office and I'm not needed on the council I can finally relax with my family and give Korra the attention she needs." Tenzin said as she held Sean close.
"I'm more focused on this kind of attention." Korra said kissing Junior making him laugh while she smiled at him.
"HA! Relax. I'd pay money to see that. Maybe I'll take along just to see Vacation Tenzin." Bumi said.
"Your not invited." Tenzin said.
"Before we go on your dad's study trip, we're going to have some real fun in my hometown at the glacier spirits festival. They've got rides, Games, and all kinds of friend food on sticks." Korra said making the kids cheer. "And you two get to see your Grand Parents again." Korra said making the Twins giggle.
Later
The group was on a boat heading for the South Pole.
Right now Sean and Korra were in their room with the twins and Naga.
"Ugh. Sweetie what did you eat?" Korra asked changing Hitomi making her giggle as she put a clean dipper on her. "Ugh. The one downside to having kids when they're babies." Korra said kissing her making Hitomi giggle before Korra put her in her crib next to Junior who was sound asleep before Hitomi yawned as she fell asleep as her mother pulled her blanket over her and kissed her.
"You really are a good mother." Sean said coming out of the bathroom.
"I can't help it if theres some things I'm naturally good at." Korra said smirking making him chuckle as they got into bed as Korra got out of her clothes before in her underwear. "Its so weird. I've known you for 14 years and here we are now. Married and two kids." Korra said making him smile as he held her close.
"Life works in mysterious ways Korra. I learned that a long time ago." Sean said making her smile .
"Can I ask you something?" Korra asked.
"You know the answer to that." Sean said making her giggle.
"When all the Titans are back...And when the world is finally back to the way it was...Are you and Godzilla gonna separate?" Korra asked making him scoff.
"No. The kind of bond we have...It's not something you can just get rid of. Nope. He and I aren't separating at all. He'll continue to lead the Titans when he needs to take control...And you'll have me." Sean said making her smile as she snuggled into him. "Why do you ask?" Sean asked.
"I was just curious. I don't want you to separate...But I always wondered what would happen when everything went back to the way it was." Korra said.
"Nothing is really gonna change. Except me. My scientist days are long over. You and the kids are all I need." Sean said making her smile.
'Oh that makes me feel special.' Godzilla said sarcastically.
'Knock it off.' Sean said making him chuckle.
Later
The boat made it to the Southern water Tribe docks where many were waiting for them.
"Gran-Gran!" The Airbending kids said to their grandmother who laughed.
"Oh, you've all gotten so big." Katara said before Jinora hugged her aunt Kya.
"We missed you, aunt Kya." Jinora said making her laugh.
"Oh, I missed you too." Kya said as Tenzin and Bumi walked to them. "Your father doesn't bring you around nearly enough. He's probably scared I'll beat him up like when we were kids." Kya said lightly punching his shoulder.
"I'm not scared of you...Anymore." Tenzin said making most laugh.
Senna laughed as she held her granddaughter who giggled at her while dressed in the Mothra suit Sarah gave her.
"I missed you so much sweetie." Senna said making Hitomi giggle.
"You two consider moving back?" Tonraq asked.
"Tempting." Korra said.
"Wow look at all these people that came to greet us." Bolin said.
"They aren't here for us. They're here for them." Korra said pointing at a ship heading towards them from the Northern water Tribe.
"Oh brother. Here we go again." Sean said holding Junior close.
"Just relax Sean. He'll be gone soon enough." Korra said.
"That ain't soon enough in my book." Sean said as Unalaq walked off along with his children with Desna's face still covered up after all these years from when the palace burned.
"Who's the lady and the one covered up?" Bolin asked making Sean scoff.
"The girl is Eska and thats her twin Brother Desna. His face is horribly burned." Sean said.
"How'd that happen?" Mako asked.
"I did that." Godzilla said shocking them.
"It happened when we got Korra away from her uncle when he took her away for his own selfish reasons." Sean said as Unalaq approached them.
"Good to see you, Avatar Korra." Unalaq said.
"Buzz off." Korra said.
"I see you're still holding a grudge." Unalaq said.
"Oh you mean taking me from my family by lying about some law? Oh yeah." Korra said.
"I was only looking out for your best interests." Unalaq said.
"Keep lying. It only makes yourself look worse as usual." Sean said making him glare.
Soon the group went into the festival.
"It's a shame the southerners have abandoned all connections to the spirits, even during the most hallowed times." Unalaq said.
"I've always loved the glacier spirits festival. Sean and My parents took me here every year. It was fun and made me feel normal." Korra said holding Junior close who smiled looking at the pretty lights.
"This festival used to be a solemn time of fasting and meditation. Now it's just a chance to watch some rube try to stick an entire arctic hen in his mouth." Unalaq said as they watched Bolin do just that.
"What?" Bolin asked though muffled causing Sean and Korra to chuckle while Junior giggled.
"Oh man." Sean said.
"Traditions change. It's not the end of the world." Tonraq said.
"Yeah. Besides with the world coming back to the old ways these traditions will eventually be forgotten." Sean said making him frown.
"Tell that to the sailors who are being attacked by angry spirits in southern waters. Some traditions have purpose." Unalaq said.
"Wait, Spirits are attacking ships?" Korra asked making him nod.
"I'm surprised the Avatar doesn't know about that. Apparently you haven't been given all the information you need. Or perhaps your so called Husband is keeping you in the dark so you cannot perform your duties." Unalaq said before Sean grabbed him.
"Wanna say that again?" Sean asked glaring at him.
"Calm down." Korra said pulling him back.
"We were in the dark on this as well. This news to us." Godzilla said.
"So you say. Nevertheless It would be my honor to teach the Avatar in the spiritual ways of the North." Unalaq said.
"Uh...Let me think...No." Korra said.
"Korra, As the Avatar..." Unalaq said.
"Eventually the world isn't gonna need the Avatar anymore. And I'm fine with that." Korra said shocking him. "I got everything I need right here." Korra said holding her son and husband close making Sean smirk.
"Don't be so sure." Unalaq said walking away.
"He's getting on my nerves." Sean said.
"I know. Just ignore him." Korra said as Junior yawned making them smile before Sean took Hitomi from Senna who cooed.
Later
Soon everyone was in the dining hall.
"This is a wonderful feast in your honor, Uncle." Korra said.
"This is nothing. When this festival was founded, the tribal elders would commune with the spirits. People would watch the brilliant displays of light as spirits danced in the sky." Unalaq said.
"Wow. I've never seen that." Korra said.
"And that is a shame, since the Avatar is the bridge between the material world and the spirits. That is why I want so badly to teach you, to help you fulfill your destiny." Unalaq said.
"Knock it off. You ain't teaching her anything. Not after that stunt you pulled 14 years ago." Sean said as Senna held Junior while Korra held Hitomi.
"Every Avatar before you traveled the world to learn the four elements. It was your now official Husband and Father who kept you down here." Unalaq said.
"I thought Aang asked me to be kept down here." Korra said looking at her husband.
"He asked me to protect you when you were found. But after so many incidents Tonraq and I both agreed it was best to keep you down here as you trained. You never seemed to mind if I recall. And it led to this." Sean said making her smile looking at her daughter who yawned in her arms.
"Yeah." Korra said before Sean glared at Unalaq.
"Besides theres another reason we kept you down here and he knows why." Sean said glaring at Unalaq.
"I had nothing to do with that. How many times Must I say it?" Unalaq asked.
"The timing says otherwise." Sean said.
"What are you talking about?" Korra asked.
"I'll tell you later after this." Sean said taking a drink in hand.
"Sean..." Tonraq said.
"Relax. She's not a kid anymore and the matter is settled anyway." Sean said.
While this was going on Tenzin looked from his table.
"Looks like someone's trying to take your place as the Avatar's stick-in-the-mud Mentor." Bumi teased his little brother.
"Bumi, don't pick on Tenzin. You know he's always been sensitive." Kya teased making him glare.
"I'm not sensitive." Tenzin said making them laugh while Katara was concerned about the interaction between her children.
Later
Junior and Hitomi giggled seeing all the colorful lights in the festival making the parents laugh.
"I hope you two really enjoy this." Korra said as Sean gave his wife some cotton candy. "You spoil me you know that?" Korra asked.
"Thats my job." Sean said as they walked around.
"So...What were you talking about before. And why did my dad seem concerned?" Korra asked.
"Well any father would want to keep that information hidden from his daughter. But your old enough and wise enough to hear this." Sean said.
"What happened?" Korra asked.
"Shortly after Unalaq came back down to the South to demand I bring Godzilla out to fight him...A group of people came down here with the intention of kidnapping you." Sean said shocking her. "There were four of them. Three Benders and a Non-Bender. Water, Earth and Fire. I beat them with Zilla's help. And the White Lotus were charged with imprisoning them in cells designed to impair their abilities. I suspected your Uncle was responsible since the timing was too coincidental." Sean said.
"So thats part of the reason you kept me down here." Korra said.
"It was for your own protection. And I'm kinda glad...Since it led to this." Sean said placing his hand on Hitomi's head making her giggle while they smiled.
"Yeah. But what do you think about what Unalaq said before? About the South being out of balance?" Korra asked.
"As much as I hate to say it he might not be wrong." Godzilla said.
"What do you mean?" Korra asked.
"The spirits and Titans had a very equal relationship. The Titans would protect their most sacred areas. And in return they would not harm man or attack them. Some did of course like that face stealer. We'll deal with him eventually." Sean said.
"So you think he might be right?" Korra asked.
"Possibly. I'm not blind by my anger to know when someone might be right about something. Unalaq might know something important about whats going on. Nevertheless...Keep a close eye on him. We still don't know his objectives." Sean said.
"Believe me I'm not about to get caught unprepared. Not when I have these." Korra said holding the twins who smiled at her before both yawned making them smile.
"Uh oh." Sean said seeing Bolin going to Eska and Desna before he screamed seeing Desna's face.
"I kinda feel sorry for Desna. He didn't really deserve that." Korra said.
"No. We didn't know they were even in there or we would just just blasted something else important to him. But his own actions brought that on him." Sean said as they walked away to put the twins to bed.
Later
Everyone was at the huts for the night.
Sean and Korra were against Naga who was asleep while Fawkes hanged above them before his eyes opened up and flew out.
"Fawkes...What are you doing bud?" Sean asked tired before he started screeching loudly making him rush out. "What are you doing?" Sean asked as Fawkes continued to screech.
"Whats with all the noise?" David asked getting out with Asami along with the others.
Sean looked out in the distance seeing something he hadn't seen in a long time.
'Tell me thats not what I think it is?' Sean asked.
'A dark spirit. Odd.' Godzilla said before it charged at them only for Godzilla to take control and slammed his tail into him.
"STAND DOWN!" Godzilla yelled before it started attacking him making him growl as he was pushed to the Festival.
"Sean!" Korra yelled with Hitomi and Junior with the former starting to cry making the Dark Spirit move towards them.
Only for Godzilla's tailed to grab it and slammed it down a few times.
"Best stay away from my family." Sean said as it growled at him before dashing at him forcing him into a booth.
"This is getting annoying." Godzilla said about to use Atomic breath.
Only for water to start spiraling around the Dark Spirit.
"Hmm?" Godzilla asked before seeing it was Unalaq who was doing this before the Dark Spirit was purified and walked away as it slowly vanished.
"Go in peace." Unalaq said.
"I'm impressed." Godzilla said as Sean took control.
"Do you believe me now when I tell you the Southern Water Tribe is spiritually unbalanced?" Unalaq asked.
"Sean!" Korra yelled rushing to him before facing her uncle. "How were you able to control that spirt?" Korra asked.
"As your father could tell you I've spent my life studying the spirits. Learning their ways. All of this knowledge is lost in the South. But I could teach you everything I know." Unalaq said.
"Chief Unalaq, Clearly you are very knowledgeable, But Korra still has to finish her airbending training, and I hope that going to the air temples will help her connect with the past avatars." Tenzin said making her look at Sean
"The air temples will teach her nothing. Only I can give her the training she needs to be a complete avatar." Unalaq said.
"I told you that will not happen!" Tonraq yelled.
"Ok stop...Give us a minute." Korra said as she and Sean walked off before they were away from them. "Well, What do you think I should do?" Korra asked.
"You my professional or personal opinion?" Sean asked.
"Both." Korra said.
"My personal Opinion would be to tell him to F...Ah...Go away." Sean said catching himself to not curse in front of the twins making her smirk.
"Smooth." Korra teased before getting serious. "And you're professional?" Korra asked making him sigh.
"Dark spirits are a rarity...I haven't seen one in...8,000 years at best. And if Unalaq is telling the truth about the other events...He might know what he's talking about. As much I hate his guts...He might know what to do. Spiritual matters were never my thing. Mothra and the other Titans handled stuff like that. Godzilla just laid down the law with them. They obeyed his rules respectfully minus a few. So...You might need to listen to him." Sean said making her sigh.
"I kinda figured. We'll make this quick then." Korra said.
"No. You'll be doing this. I ain't going. Professional as I am...I still can't stand him so I ain't going. Besides...One of us has gotta keep an eye on the Twins incase he pulls something." Sean said making her smile as she held them close as Hitomi yawned in her sleep.
"Good point." Korra said.
Next day
Tenzin and his family were getting ready to travel to the Air temples.
"I think you forgot a couple of things." Katara said with her other two children beside her with their things.
"Mother, I think I need some time alone with my family right now." Tenzin said.
"This is your family, Tenzin. When you get to be my age, you'll be thankful for the time you had with your siblings. Besides, I think it's important that you all visit your father's home together." Katara said as Bumi wrapped an arm around his shoulder.
"Come on, it'll be fun." Bumi said.
"I'm dying to see that laid-back Vacation Tenzin." Kya said.
"All right. Hop on." Tenzin said.
"Mind If I tag along?" Turok asked.
"Your not staying?" Tenzin asked.
"I don't feel like staying around that prick. Besides my brothers and sisters can handle it." Turok said.
"All right hop on." Tenzin said as Turok jumped up next to Jinora making her smile.
Sean and Korra on a cliff saw them leaving.
"You think I made the right choice to stay?" Korra asked.
"Korra, the best thing any Avatar or person can do is do what they feel is best. Thats all we can do." Sean said making her smile as Junior yawned making them smile.
"Thanks. Promise me you'll keep a close eye on them. I'm not stupid to think Unalaq won't try to pull something while I'm with him on them. He wants revenge and what better way than through them." Korra said kissing Hitomi's head making her yawn in her sleep.
"I know. They'll be fine I promise." Sean said holding her close.
