7th March 2992
Throughout the kingdom of Crystal Tokyo a bell rang.
"C'mon, you're going to miss the start!" Cried Venus.
"I'm coming! I'm coming!" Called Neo-Queen Serenity, silver-hair trailing behind her as she ran.
The bell rang again.
Serenity plonked herself upon the couch between King Endymion and Small Lady.
"I'm still not sure if this was the best idea."
The bell rang for the third time.
"We've been over this," assured Venus, "A dramatisation of our adventures is a great way to educate kids about history. And it might make us more popular with the public too."
Serenity pursed her lips and beheld the screen, as did millions of other citizens across the kingdom.
"I must admit," she said a few seconds later, "if nothing else it seems pretty dramatic so far."
"I know right!" Exclaimed Venus. "And these are just the opening credits. Aren't you glad you listened to me and signed off on th-"
"Why did Tuxedo Mask have that scary mask!?"
To Serenity's right, Endymion stoic, yet clearly unnerved.
"It is a dramatization Serenity. You have to expect them to take a few creative liberties."
With starry eyed bliss Serenity watched the silhouettes of the two lovers (who could only be herself and Endymion) embrace within the dark forest.
"Ah," she sighed, "That ending moved my heart. Actually I loved that whole first episode. You're right Venus, I think this was a good id-"
She stopped upon seeing Venus' red face and clenched fist.
"I can't believe this! I was BARELY in the first episode!"
"At least you were in it," chided Jupiter. "I didn't even show up in the opening credits, unlike some people." She shot a glare at Mercury and Mars.
"Well… I loved it!" Cheered Small Lady. "When's the next one on?"
"Same time next week," replied Endymion. "Then again, that could depend on just how many people were interested in this first episode."
10th October 2992
Jupiter sat down in a huff.
"Why're you so upset?" asked Mercury. "You're finally in the show"
"I can't believe they had Naru falling in love with Nephrite instead of me!"
"It was very dramatic though wasn't it? And that's what's important at the end of the day. It's the same reason they show previews at the end and beginning of every ep-"
Mercury's jaw dropped. Amidst the previews for that night's episode was a shot of her with her clothes being ripped off.
"Dramatic don't you think, Mercury?" grinned Jupiter.
"I… well… that Ryo boy was kind of sweet and… and… Ohlooktherearenewend credits."
Jupiter chuckled and, along with everyone else, turned her attention to the gently twirling silhouette of a blonde bun-headed princess.
17th October 2992
"I'm finally in the opening credits!" Exclaimed Venus.
"Oh wow, the new opening is so romantic," said Serenity breathily. "Endymion, look how dashing you are on that horse."
"Maybe now my character will start to thaw a little."
"Why am I such a jerk in this show!"
"Personally," said Diana, "I like how your majesties are in love in one half of your lives and don't get along in the other."
"Yes but…" Endymion cut himself off. "Serenity? Serenity are you alright?"
Serenity's hands were clasped together and her eyes were like massive stars as she gazed at the screen. "Tuxedo Mask let Sailor Moon keep the star locket," she said breathily, "Oh, I hope those two get together by the end of the season."
Endymion rolled his eyes. "Serenity, they are supposed to be us. Of course they will wind up together before the end of the season."
6th March 2993
Amidst a landscape that resembled Van Gogh's 'Starry Night', Usagi tried to run up and hug Mamoru. Her failure elicited another wail of despair from Neo-Queen Serenity. "I'm not sure I can watch much more of this show. Last week's episode was so sad! They won but everyone forgot. Poor Usagi and Mamoru don't remember falling in love or anything!"
"Usa, please," Endymion pleaded weakly, "I'm sure it'll only be a couple of episodes before they, I mean we, remember and reunite. Right Small Lady?"
But Endymion's daughter wasn't paying attention. "Now the Dark Kingdom has been defeated I'm sure to be in today's episode."
"Oh, but your highness," cautioned Diana, "You weren't in any of the previews for today's episode."
Small Lady waved a dismissive hand at her furry friend. "They're just keeping me secret as an extra special surprise."
Small Lady stared dumbstruck at the screen as Usagi steadily walked left across town, the background passing her by..
"I… I don't understand," squeaked Small Lady. "I wasn't in the episode at all. Not even in the new end credits? D-did you guys fight those Ail and An guys before you met me in the 20th century?"
The four Inner Senshi exchanged confused shrugs with one another.
"I'm sure I'd have remembered something like that," Mars muttered.
"Then what gives!" Decried Small Lady.
"Maybe the people behind the show have a policy against our little maiden." Serenity slapped the arm of the couch and cackled at her own joke.
"It's alright," reassured Endymion over Serenity's continuing guffaws. "I hear there might be a movie this year. Maybe you will appear in that?"
16th October 2993
"Hey look Plu! They added us into the new opening."
Pluto smiled. "What an honour. Although I wish they'd fix my complexion," she muttered.
"Creative Liberties," Small Lady replied. "Isn't that right Mama," she snickered.
Serenity didn't respond. She was on the edge of her seat, her hands clasped tightly together as if in prayer.
"Mamo-chan has to tell Usagi about his dreams this week, right? They just gotta get back together in this episode… wait, why was I just naked on screen…?"
Serenity's confusion was reflected on her husband's face. "And why is my tuxedo purple?"
"For the last time Usa, I'm sorry we didn't get back together in this episode," uttered Endymion feebly.
"I'm just sorry we couldn't redeem the real Berthier or her sisters," said Mars.
"And I'm sorry that it looks like we're getting disrespected again next episode!" Growled Venus as the previews played.
"Yeah," added Jupiter angrily. "Why don't we each get an episode saving one of the sisters!"
"Don't worry," pacified Mercury, "I think it must be so they can save time and money to make the last episode extra special."
"I hope you're right," said Mars, "But before that, we still have…"
5th December 2993
"I can't believe it!" blushed Serenity. "A whole movie about me. I'm an idol now."
"Serenity, you are already Queen of the Solar System!" Admonished Luna from the seat to Serenity's left. "Besides, you are hardly like those Hollywood starlets. Your movie is only about an hour long."
"What? But Endymion said it'd be a lot longer."
Endymion leaned over from Serenity's right. "They're going to have a short ahead of the movie and it is supposed to give a lot of screentime to-"
"Papa, hush, my big moment is about to start!"
"Sorry," he whispered, settling back into his seat.
"Well, I suppose the short was educational if nothing else," muttered Mercury from the row behind.
"Did you enjoy the short my 'magnificent Knight of Roses'?" teased Serenity.
"I'm trying to decide if that's better or worse than being the 'Moonlight Knight'."
"Better."
"Worse."
"Seriously!?"
"Will you four be quiet, the proper movie is about to begin!" Admonished Artemis glaring behind him at the four Inner Senshi.
The Earth and Moon filled the screen. Then a flurry of rose petals floated across space.
"Wow," whispered Artemis, "That movie sure was something. Although, I don't understand how Usagi and Mamoru can be together in the film when they are broken up in the show."
Luna rolled her eyes. "I keep telling you and everyone else to watch to the end of the prev-"
Her words were cut off when Serenity and Endymion suddenly got out of their seats and led the entire theatre in a standing ovation.
12th March 2994
Serenity was practically bouncing on the couch.
"Between the movie and the last episode this show has been a real roller coaster recently. I can't wait to see how they're going to top it today."
The others exchanged nervous glances.
"Errr, Usa, didn't you see the previews for tonight's episode?"
"No I- Oooooohhhhh! They're playing all four openings at once, that's so cool! This episode must be extra special just like Ami said…"
"It was just a CLIPSHOW!"
"Please calm down Usa, they showed you clips from the next episode too."
"They do that in every episode!"
"Maybe someone should try watching to the end for a change," muttered Luna.
19th March 2994
The screen scanned up a set of pillars. Upon all but two of the pillars stood five beautiful young women.
"Wow, this is a really elegant opening," said Uranus.
"Maybe we should have tried watching this show before now," added Neptune
"Actually, this is a new opening for the new season," Mars informed them.
"Hey, you hear that," interjected Venus. "I think it's a new singer too."
"Hmm, I don't see us anywhere though."
"They must be hiding us to make our reveal a surprise."
On the other side of the couch, Pluto and Small Lady looked away from Uranus and Neptune, doing their very best to maintain straight faces.
"We were just silhouettes!"
At Neptune and Uranus' disbelief, Small Lady and Pluto finally broke out in giggles.
16th April 2994
"Oh look, there we are." Neptune gestured at the two new additions to the pillars on the screen, not bothering to hide the bitterness in her voice.
"Calm down, we're going to be in the show properly now."
"Oh, be quiet!" snapped the turquoise haired Senshi. "You're just laid back because you know today's episode is all about you."
Uranus shot her a smug smile and settled back into the coach between Serenity and Venus.
"You know Uranus," Venus cooed flirtatiously, "Unlike TV me, I don't mind so much that you aren't a guy."
"Heh, I'm very glad to hear that," Uranus replied huskily.
Neptune laughed and shook her head.
"Would you two knock it off," said Mars, "You are embarrassing yourselves in front of our King and Queen."
"I'm not sure they've noticed."
Michiru nodded towards Serenity and Endymion whose eyes were fixed upon the slowly rotating carousel upon a windowsill. When the carousel stopped, the figurine maiden atop it was joined by the mirage of a tuxedo-clad figurine. Their gazes still trained on the screen, Serenity and Endymion entwined their fingers.
15th October 2994
"Hey, look who finally made it into the opening."
Saturn blushed as Jupiter pointed at a sad, black haired girl on the screen.
"And look who finally made it back into the opening, right Plu?!"
Pluto gave Small Lady a pacifying smile.
"But wait," said Saturn tentatively, "Why is Super Sailor Moon there? Usagi, I mean the Queen, hasn't become Super Sailor Moon yet."
"Didn't you see the previews?"
Saturn looked up questioningly at Neptune.
"We're supposed to 'die' in this episode," said Uranus, gesturing to herself and Neptune. "Obviously, they're going to have Super Sailor Moon show up at the last minute to rescue us."
"Is it over yet?"
"Yes Small Lady, you can look now."
Small Lady's face was white, as was everyone else's.
"I… I don't believe it… They… They killed us."
"...Very brutally."
Serenity shrugged and shot Uranus a half dirty look. "That's what happens when you don't listen to me and steal my brooch."
4th December 2994
"Are you alright Artemis? Is anything the matter my darling?"
"N-no Luna dear I'm perfectly fine."
Luna smiled a wide, mischievous grin that made Artemis gulp. "Oh… I'm so very glad. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the new movie. I worked very hard with the filmmakers to get it just right."
Upon the screen, the celluloid Artemis and Luna leaned upon another lovingly, watching the crescent Moon above the water.
In contrast, their flesh and blood counterparts sat about a foot apart in the cinema seat, glaring at one another.
"How could you sign off on something like this!?"
"How could you forget our anniversary? Again!?"
"How come they showed us Luna naked as a human in the movie?"
"You stay out of this!"
Serenity winced and visibly shrank within her seat.
4th March 2995
"Look Mama! Look Papa! I'm finally in the opening!"
Diana pointed a furry paw at the screen as a grey-purple kitten as it landed upon the ebony and ivory felines.
"Oh, and they added my steed too," Helios said serenely. "Or I suppose, that is supposed to actually be me, correct?"
"But… But where are we?" whispered Uranus.
"They can't possibly have written us out? We were so popular last season" finished Neptune weakly.
"First time?" Chroused Pluto and Small Lady, nonchalantly crossing their legs.
"... Do you guys remember the Amazon's Trio being so… um…"
Jupiter did not need to finish her question.
"I mean… Fish's Eye kind of was," replied Mercury.
"And Tiger's Eye was no gentleman," added Mars.
"But…" began Venus tentatively, "... do you guys remember any of them being…. Being like that?"
"I don't," said Endymion.
"Me neither," Serenity answered, shaking her head. "How about you Small… awwwwww."
Small Lady and Helios' eyes were fixed upon the pink haired girl sitting on the hill, watching the majestic winged horse slowly come into frame upon the crystal spire. Their gazes still trained on the screen, Helios and Small Lady entwined their fingers together.
"It really is baby baby love," Endymion whispered to his wife.
8th April 2995
"Oooooooh," Serenity clapped her hands together like an excited child. "This is going to be so great!"
"Papa, I thought you told her," whispered Small Lady.
"An extra long episode!"
"She hasn't given me the chance," protested Endymion.
"With so much extra time the episode has to be extra special! Like another movie! I wonder what adventures Usagi is going to have this week!"
"Um… actually Usa," Endymion began cautiously, "This special has three smaller adventures."
"... Oh…"
"Yes and one of them-"
"Ah well," Serenity said cheerily, "The first one will probably be something super duper special in any case."
Small Lady shot her father a look of concern.
Serenity wailed like a newborn. "It was ANOTHER clipshow!"
"Usa, please-"
"Hush up!" admonished Luna. "You are supposed to be the Queen, have some dignity. 'Usagi's growth diary' my tail!"
"Luna!" Serenity sniffled, "You better stop being so mean to me or else I'll… I'll… ummm… Oh! I'll set Uranus and Neptune on you!... Hey where are they anyway?" Serenity glanced down the other end of the couch, as if the pair were hiding from her.
"They said they weren't going to watch the show anymore in protest of being cut out."
"Looks like they picked a bad week to quit," muttered Mars, nodding to the screen.
"Was Sailor Uranus really so flirtatious in her youth," Helios asked innocently.
Serenity blushed. "That puppet sure was creepy wasn't it!" She said, pointedly not looking at her husband.
"Oh no," Diana quivered. "The next segment looks creepy too."
"See Diana," reassured Artemis. "Nothing to be worried about, the Sailor Senshi dealt with that mean old vampire."
"I have to admit," began Helios, "She was unnerving. I wonder how the writers came up with someone like her."
"Oh no, Lilica was real actually," interjected Small Lady.
Helios' eyes widened. "She was!?"
"Yep, although she wasn't nearly as cutsey."
8th July 2995
"Woo-hoo!" cheered Venus. "It's been forever since I got a spotlight episode!"
"Yeah, yeah don't rub it in," grumbled Mars.
"Soooo… what's been going on again?"
Jupiter blinked at the blonde. "Haven't you been watching with us?"
Venus shrugged. "Tell you the truth, I've been on my phone a lot."
"Well-"
"Ah don't worry about it," Venus said dismissively. "So long as little old me is my usual dazzling self," she batted her lashes at the heavens, "I'll be as happy as a hawk."
Helios looked unnerved. "I don't think that's the phr-"
"Trust me," whispered Small Lady, patting his hand, "let it go."
"How could they depict me falling in love so easily like that!"
Venus' face was crimson with fury. Everyone else's face was crimson with suppressed laughter.
"M-my. Is-isn't that a-a p-p-p-snort- pretty wedding dress Chibi-Usa is looking at." Trying to control herself Jupiter looked away from the screen.
"D-do-don't worry V-v-venus," Serenity wheezed. "There are more episodes."
"Like the song says," said Endymion, "Never give up"
To Venus' disdain, the entire coach positively guffawed.
Only Mercury managed to keep any semblance of composure. "It's alright Venus," she said, placing a hand on her friend's shoulder, "It's nothing personal. I don't think the people behind the show play favourites or anything."
28th October 2995
"You know," began Jupiter. "Although the Amazons Trio weren't the nicest of guys, last week I still felt kinda…"
Mercury and Mars nodded in silent understanding.
"They were-"
"Hey!"
"Do you mind?"
"You've had three years of this."
"Yeah but now-"
On the screen, a green, pink, blue and red group of girls in acrobatic costumes levitated in the air, the latter shooting a red orb at the screen with a pool cue.
"We're in the spotlight!" chrosued the Sailor Quartet.
"Maybe it's because we don't really follow this show," said Ceres, "But I don't get the circus tent."
"Me neither!" added Pallas.
Vesta furrowed her brow. "I thought it was invisible. Otherwise why would no one have noticed it before now?"
"Can you guys explain?" asked Juno.
"No," chorused everybody else.
23rd December 2995
"It's alright Venus. It's nothing personal. I don't think the people behind the show play favourites or anything," mocked Venus, her arms crossed grumpily within her theatre seat.
"For what it's worth," whispered Mercury, "I'm not looking forward to this. I get too much fan mail already. You know how allergic I get to that sort of stuff."
"Oh no," said the blunette weakly, "Now people are going to inundate me with fan mail. Especially with all that extra fluid movement they added in for this short."
To her right Venus positively growled, whilst in the seat in front Small Lady sighed contentedly and fanned herself.
"A whole movie about me. Finally, after too long living in a certain someone's shadow I'm stepping out into the light!"
"I'm very proud of you, my maiden."
"Awww, thanks Helios," Small Lady threw a wink to her lover. "You better watch out though. Now I'm a movie star, you might have competition."
Helios was stiff as a statue, his eyes fixed upon the projector screen.
"Helios honey, I swear I've never even heard of anyone called Perle I-"
Upon the screen, the shots of the five Senshi as children gave way to a different set of clips. They depicted a pink haired girl befriending a handsome white haired boy outside a candy store.
"No! Stupid movie don't show it again!"
9th March 2996
Serenity scratched the back of her silver head.
"Let me get this straight?"
"Go on," encouraged Endymion.
"So all last season the big bad villain was Nehellenia."
Luna nodded.
"And Chibi-Usa beat her in the episode before last."
"I sure did," acknowledged Small Lady.
"Then last week, even though she'd already lost, we spent half an episode about Nehllenia giving up and going back to the mirror world she came from."
"Right," said Venus.
"But this week… She's coming right back again?"
All eyes turned to Mercury who simply shrugged.
"Personally I don't care."
"Me neither. Drama is drama."
"And it doesn't hurt that you two are back on screen, right?" Pluto shot a wry eyebrow at Neptune and Uranus who blushed in response.
"You're back too Sailor Pluto," chirped Diana.
Pluto nodded serenely at the feline. "Indeed I am… though not in the new opening it seems."
The screen had thus far depicted five silhouettes at the start of the new opening. It had proceeded to showcase the same five warriors' day to day lives on the left hand side of the screen whilst their uniformed counterparts seemed to dance to their right. Finally, their five hands laid on top of one another as they spun through space.
"It feels weird without the old song doesn't it?" said Jupiter.
"I suppose," said Serenity, "But you know… it is beautiful in its own way too…"
"Hmmm… the new ending is a bit slower compared to the last one," commented Mars.
Upon the screen a jigsaw of a blonde angel with pigtails and hair buns gradually filled itself in.
"It does calm you down after the high though," offered Endymion.
"Which is well needed it seems."
Mars shot a glance down the coach where everyone else was rocking back and forth on the edge of their seat.
11th March 2996
"On behalf of planet Kinmoku, I'd like to extend my fondest gratitude to you for offering your hospitality this day." Princess Kakyuu bowed with deference.
"Even though we're no strangers to TV appearances." Seiya threw a wink at Serenity and sat to her left.
Seeing this, Taiki and Yaten shot odd glances at one another and sat next to their princess.
"Seiya! Last episode was so good!" Babbled Serenity. "All nine Senshi and Mamo-chan gave their power to Usagi, oh that's me by the way-"
"Yeah, I figured," Seiya smirked.
"So then," continued Serenity, apparently having not heard him, "Usagi used her power to turn back time and give Nehellenia a fresh start."
"Didn't she just bring back Nehelenia's kingdom and turn her into a child?"
Serenity shrugged at her husband. "Whatever, the point was it was so wonderful and heartwarming and-"
"Alright alright," Seiya said holding up a hand, "I get the picture. If you keep going I'm going to miss our debut."
"You're debut?"
Seiya's brow furrowed. "Yeah, that was why you invited us here today wasn't it?"
"Ummmm…?"
"Of course," replied Endymion over Serenity's confused murmuring. "Speaking of which…"
Upon the screen Sailor Star Fighter, Maker and Healer appeared, holding their weapons aloft.
"Hey, hey, there we are," clapped Seiya.
"Yeah," Serenity said in a rather quiet voice.
She remained quiet for several seconds, until an imposing woman garbed in gold seemed to be reaching out the screen at her with both hands.
"There you are," she whispered.
As the jigsaw angel appeared, Seiya's face was a little red and she was noticeably averting her gaze from Serenity.
Serenity for her part was wrapped comfortingly in Endymion's arms. Her left hand tightened around his bicep, the motion making her silver engagement ring glitter.
8th February 2997
"Is everybody ready?"
From in front of the screen, Serenity's head scanned across the impossibly large sofa.
All twenty two of them nodded and shot thumbs up.
"Alright," Serenity moved over to the coach and took a seat at the very centre of the assembly. "Let's do this one last time."
With that, she clicked the remote and tuned in to the final episode.
"Usa… was ChibiChibi really Galaxia's Star Seed?"
"You know Endymion… I don't remember all that much about any ChibiChibi in the first place?"
Everyone else nodded in vague agreement.
"Must have been another 'creative liberty'," offered Chibi-Usa. "This show was no stranger to those after all. But you know what… I liked that about this finale. It was so…"
Upon the screen, Usagi and Mamoru kissed in front of the biggest full Moon there could ever have been.
"... romantic," Chibi-Usa breathed out.
The screen switched displaying assorted photos of the Sailor Senshi amidst beautiful golden sunlight and red wine, concluding with a soft white feather drifting atop a pool of water.
"They bought the song back," whispered Serenity.
Slowly, after wiping her eyes, she stood back up and raised a glass. Everyone followed suit.
"A toast, in thanks for one special, three movies and two hundred episodes worth of fun!"
Twenty three glasses clinked together.
"THANK YOU SAILOR MOON!"
