Chapter 25 Peacekeepers
Varrick's ship soon arrived at Titan City docks before everyone got off.
"Well, that was one major league annoyance." Reznov said.
"Tell me something I don't know." Sean said as he held Junior close who cooed as he looked at the city and laughed making him chuckle before looking at Korra who held Hitomi as she slept while looking at the ocean.
Sean placed a hand on her making her look at him.
"It's gonna be ok." Sean said making her nod.
"I know. I just...Every time I think he can't get any worse he always proves me wrong. How did the Titans keep people like him in line or stop them before they could do what they planned?" Korra asked.
"Rather simple. For most they were guided accordingly. When proper guidance and direction are applied people like him become a rarity. As for stopping them if that didn't work they were either imprisoned or killed. It depended on their crimes. Unalaq's would have gotten him killed when we finally found the truth but were pressed for time to save your father before we could finish him and for other reasons. He'll get whats coming to him soon enough. And rest assured the Titans have a punishment in store for him that will make him wish he was never born." Sean said making her smile.
"Yeah." Korra said as Hitomi yawned making her smile as she kissed her.
Arriving at the streets they saw Lin with her officers along with heavy security robots before walking to them.
"What in the hell happened over there? Both the people here from both tribes started fighting." Lin said.
"Unalaq happened thats what. Started a civil war and tried to kill one of the Twins to blame this idiot." Sean said glaring at Varrick.
"Hey! He would have just done that even if I didn't try to have him killed." Varrick said.
"But you gave him an excuse to do it regardless. You're nothing but a Mark wannabe. I honestly should kill you for putting my kids in danger. Only reason I didn't Kill Unalaq is because we were pressed for time and I need to know what he is up to and if he has partners involved." Sean said.
"You really think he's got partners involved?" Korra asked.
"I would not be surprised. Heck I bet he's paying off his troops to stay loyal to him. Even if we did tell them the truth the odds of them all turning on him are very slim." Sean said.
"He's not wrong. A loyal soldier is easy to turn when truth is revealed. A paid soldier hardly ever is." Lin said.
"Voice of experience from cops who were bribed?" Sean asked making her frown.
"Whatever. Theres gonna be a southern peace march tonight. Mako I want you back on the beat. Even with these machines theres a good chance theres gonna be some idiots who are gonna cause a fight." Lin said.
"Why am I not surprised." Sean said.
"I think we should join them. The South needs to know the Avatar and the Titans are on their side." Korra said.
"Not saying I disagree but try not to say anything during it. Even though security is back to the way it was back in my era theres still a chance someone will try to pull something and we don't know if Unalaq has agents here to target both of us." Sean said.
"Good point." Korra said as Junior cooed making her smile as she kissed him.
Later
Sean and Korra with the Twins were on Naga as they walked to the Courts which during the Days of Republic City would be known as the Cultural center.
"Tensions are running high. Both the Avatar and the King of the Titans host are leading a peaceful Southern Peace march against Chief Unalaq who has Illegally invaded the South since it severed connections for independence. But those who support the Chief of the North have come out to try and disband this protect."
One of the Northerners rushed out with a small weapon before getting blasted back back low level Atomic breath.
"Fool." Godzilla said as they continued to march.
While this was going on Mako stood guard outside the building.
However two people exited said building before one accidentally slipped making a loud sound which alerted him.
"HEY!" Mako yelled before one took out some device and pressed a button before the whole building blew up.
This shocked Korra and Sean as the Twins cried.
"Shh. It's ok." Korra said calming them down.
Godzilla made a large wave of water to take out the fire.
"The North is out of control." Korra said.
"I'm not so certain the North is behind this. Something feels...Off. Unalaq knows doesn't know the President doesn't have any actual power so he wouldn't want to risk getting bad attention." Sean said.
"I think he's right." Mako said walking to them. "I saw some thugs leave before blowing the place up. They don't look like they're from the North." Mako said.
"If the North didn't do then then who did and why?" Korra asked as Hitomi whimpered. "Shhh. It's ok sweetie." Korra said.
"War brings opportunity in this era. Both for power...And profit. That might be the reason for this." Sean said as Junior yawned making him smile.
Later
After last night's events Sean and Korra were at Raiko's office.
"Remind me again why are we here? He doesn't have any actual power so why are we here?" Korra asked.
They had left Asami with the twins.
"Since we're already gonna get Iroh to get prepared we might as well see if Raiko will be supportive and help or be selfish and do nothing that doesn't benefit him alone." Sean said.
"Oh I get it. Might as well." Korra said.
Soon they arrived in his office.
"Now, How can I help the Avatar?" Raiko asked.
"For starters we need to get the Earth Defense forces ready to help retake the South. Unalaq has Illegally invaded after the South decided to separate from the North for Independence." Korra said.
"I'm fully aware of the situation but I don't think Unalaq is in the wrong exactly." Raiko said surprising them.
"Not in the wrong? He invaded the South. Had all their rights stripped away. Tried to murder my kids!" Korra yelled.
"Did he?" Raiko asked calmly.
"Not only that but Unalaq is up to something down there. He had Korra open that Spirit portal for a reason. We need to know what that is. So we need the Earth Defense forces ready." Sean said.
"I'm not gonna have my forces go into war if it doesn't involve them. This has nothing to do with my city." Raiko said.
'"You have a responsibility to do the right thing. And more importantly..." Sean tried to say.
"I don't need to hear anything from you freak." Raiko said making him frown.
"Excuse me?" Sean asked.
"You heard me. You may have brought Titan City back but as far as I'm concerned? People should be in charge not these abominations. And the fact that you hold one makes you a freak of nature. I will not send my army to fight for the South. And that is final. And more importantly I plan to get rid of the Titans since thats my main objective. They won't be leading us anymore." Raiko said before they stood up and left.
"Welp...That proves it. He's got his own agenda and he won't help unless it benefits him." Sean said.
"Why am I not surprised. His smug face said it all." Korra said.
"Yup." Sean said.
Later
Korra smiled as she was breast feeding Junior before he finished and yawned making her kiss his forehead before putting him in his crib next to his sister before pulling a blanket over both of them.
"Mommy loves you two so much." Korra said before leaving the room and activated security.
After what happened in the South with Unalaq she was making sure her twins were completely safe.
Arriving in her room she saw Sean waiting for her as she sat down next to him after removing her own clothes.
"You ok?" Sean asked making her sigh.
"Yeah...Just pissed. First Unalaq causes a Civil war for some dumb reason involving that portal. Now Raiko shows his true colors and wants to wipe out the Titans because he thinks Man should rule. You would think with all the wars Man caused he would think differently." Korra said.
"Greed and a lust for power can cloud one's vision. Without proper guidance these people will continue to show up in this era. He can try to make people turn on the Titans but he'll fail." Sean said before she kissed him which he returned before both fell asleep.
Next day
"Ok so Raiko is completely useless and proved our point that mankind cannot lead itself if people like him have selfish agendas." Sean said to the others minus Mako who was busy investigating the bombing.
"So whats the plan now? Just get Iroh to get all his troops ready before heading back to take Unalaq down?" Asami asked as David held her close.
"Close. We need to get the troops ready yes but we're not gonna head out until we know more about whats going on. Unalaq wanted that portal open for a reason. We need to know what that is. I'm not gonna send the troops in blind and get them killed so recklessly." Sean said.
"I agree. We have no idea why the portals were closed. But it was clearly for a reason." David said.
"They were never closed during your time?" Korra asked.
"Nope. Spirits and man got along fine back in the day. The Titans kept not only Humanity in check but also the spirits. No one knows how the portals appeared. Story is they appeared long before man...Or Titan. No one knows." Sean said.
"Thats kinda strange that none of you know." Asami said.
"Not really. Not everything can be known. The only one who would know anything about the origins of the portals is Wan Shi Tong." Sean said
"You mean that spirit who collects knowledge? That prick owl?" Korra asked.
"Oh Katara told you about him did he?" Sean asked.
"Yeah and said he tried to kill her, Sokka and Aang." Korra said.
"Yeah I know about that. When this is over I'll have a word with him. He's always been that way since as long as we've known him." Sean said as Godzilla took over.
"Wan Shi Tong believes that nothing but his thirst for knowledge is important and that no one else should have it. We believe otherwise. Knowledge should be freely shared amongst people since thats the whole point of having it. Not just letting it gather dust." Godzilla said.
"But back to the matter at hand. We need to prepare for when we actually do go back to the South." Sean said.
"Lets go see Iroh. The sooner we prepare the better." Korra said.
Later
"Its been a while you two." Iroh said.
"A few months. However this isn't a social visit. I think you can clearly guess why we're here." Sean said.
"Because of Unalaq invading the South. I heard. I even heard his forces are responsible for that bombing of the courts." Iroh said.
"We're not really sure if he is responsible since some things are not adding up. But the fact is though is that we need the Earth Defense forces ready for when we attack." Sean said.
"You mean your not going right now?" Iroh asked surprised.
"We still need some more information on exactly what is going on. Something is up and we need to know what that is." Sean said.
"I see. Better to be prepared to avoid casualties." Iroh said.
"Exactly. So I need you to prepare the men for whats coming." Sean said.
"Oh course I..." Iroh tried to say.
"Swapping old war stories?" Raiko asked making his presence known.
"Mr. President." Iroh said saluting.
"I hope you're not planning to take any military action without an order from your commander in chief." Raiko said.
"Of course not, sir." Iroh said.
"Good, because if a single vessel leaves this harbor without my say-so, you'll be court-martialed." Raiko said before glaring at Sean and Korra as she held the twins. "You two just made a big mistake. Men take the children and prepare them to be put down." Raiko said making Korra glare.
"Excuse me?" Sean asked.
"You tried to go behind my back and clearly these things have the power of the Titans. I want the world to be rid of them completely so that includes anything that has their power. Now grab them." Raiko ordered before Godzilla took control and glared at Raiko making him gasp in shock.
"You would dare have innocent children murdered? Well...Thats gonna cost you your reputation. And believe me thats just the first of your punishment. A leader does not focus on his own self centered goals like you do. They focus on the needs of all their people. Something you clearly lack. Not get out of my sight. I would kill you but your not worth killing. Why would I kill someone who's nothing but a harmless bug?" Godzilla asked making him shake before Godzilla slammed him into a wall with his tail. "BE GONE!" Godzilla roared as he and his men rushed off.
"I hate that guy." Korra said holding the Twins close as they slept.
"I'll secretly have the troops prepared to move out when you're ready." Iroh said.
"How did Raiko even know we were doing this?" Korra asked before Sean looked out at the sea feeling a pulse coming from the ocean. "Sean?" Korra asked getting his attention.
"Hmm?" Sean asked.
"Whats with you? You got that look on your face." Korra said.
"Hmm. Korra...I want you to head back home and stay there till I get back." Sean said.
"Why? whats going on?" Korra asked before he kissed her.
"True me. Theres something I need to do." Sean said jumping into the water before Godzilla took over and swam off.
"Something must have gotten his attention." Iroh said.
Later
Godzilla swam out to the ocean to where he was needed.
However suddenly water his his face making him look seeing Desna and Eska.
"YOU RUINED MY LIFE!" Desna roared blasting him with water but he looked bored.
"You must be joking me." Godzilla said as they attacked him with weak attacks while he just stood there.
'Oh this is just pathetic. Just kill them and be done with it.' Sean said.
'I detest taking human lives but in this case perhaps it will strike a blow to Unalaq.' Godzilla said before something came out of the water and roared.
It was another Titan known as Titanosaurus who roared at Eska and Desna shocking them.
"BE GONE!" Titanosaurus roared before sending a wave of water at them making them yell as it swept them away.
"Titanosarus. It has been a long time old friend." Godzilla said.
"Too long indeed. But I didn't summon you here for what Kruger would refer to as small talk. No. I came because I know what Unalaq is up to. Me and three others." Titanosarus said.
"Is that so?" Godzilla asked narrowing his eyes.
"Follow me." Titanosarus said as they went underwater before diving off to wherever they were going.
Authors Note: Hmm. Things are getting interesting. Now I wonder what he has to say? Find out next Chapter and see. To the Guest who asked why I didn't kill off Unalaq and Mark. Dude you don't just kill off the main bad guy of the season so quick thats boring. I would be skipping the most epic battles if I did that and other good stuff. You wait till the end. Killing the bad guys off at any time is more of a DC and Marvel Story thing since thats easy. Here not so much. But trust me I got good plans. Also stop overreacting its not that big a deal.
