Chapter 39 The Stakeout
Sean and the others were still on Aiwei's trail as Fawkes flew above them before calling out.
"Looks like Fawkes found something." Asami said as they stopped in some town.
Walking into the bar they noticed a large number of thugs inside.
'Oh please. I've seen Mothra look more intimidating when a baby was threatened.' Godzilla said.
"Hey check this out." Bolin said seeing posters of the group on the walls. "We're famous here. Better go greet my fans." Bolin said.
'Is he serious?' Godzilla asked annoyed.
"Yup." Sean said grabbing his ear making him yell in pain. "Those are wanted posters you dumb fuck." Sean said.
"Oh." Bolin said as Sean snatched one of him.
"Wanted for the murder of the Queen's son and will pay double for him to be brought alive. Oh sure like thats possible." Sean said.
"Uh Sean?" Asami said giving Korra's poster to him.
"Will pay triple for both the Avatar and her children to turn them into living weapons." Sean said with him growling as the thugs got behind him.
"Wheres your pretty wife mister king?"
Godzilla took over and snarled at them making them gasp before he breathed Atomic breath at the whole place turning everyone to ash.
"This is why I keep saying Man cannot lead themselves when this nonsense happens." Godzilla said as Sean took over and headed out.
On the move again Naga and Fawkes were tracking Aiwei when Fawkes called out while Naga was in front of some rock.
Godzilla took control before smashing it to pieces seeing the jeep.
"Bingo." Godzilla said as Naga nudged him. "I think they want treats. Be thankful I reminded you to bring them." Godzilla said as Sean took over and tossed one to each.
"And here I thought you were only good for wisdom." Sean said making him chuckle.
"This must be Aiwei's jeep. He can't be far." Asami said.
"Bolin and I will investigate the misty palms oasis and see if he's hold up there." Mako said.
"Yes, I love it when you talk like a cop." Bolin said.
"Asami and I will wait here incase he comes back." Sean said.
"Right." Mako said as he and Bolin went into town.
Later
Sean sighed as he looked at a large rock before blasting it with low level atomic breath but it still exploded.
"Whoa!" Asami yelled avoiding getting hit.
"Sorry." Sean said.
"You wanna talk about it?" Asami asked.
"You gonna talk about the fact that your old man got his ass kicked in prison and missed his chance to escape?" Sean asked.
"No and don't change the subject." Asami said.
"I just don't fucking get it. Why come after her again. I thought for sure Unalaq was behind this and yet he's being tortured vie a flesh eating spirit as his body regenerated when a new day begins." Sean said.
"Maybe he wasn't actually involved and the timing was just coincidental." Asami said.
"There is no such thing as coincidence. Never has been and never will be." Godzilla said.
"Personal opinion or personal experience?" Asami asked looking in the glove compartment.
"Both. I just don't understand why this is happening again." Godzilla said as she found a piece of paper.
"I don't know the why, but I think I found a clue." Asami said handing it to him.
"Xai Bau's grove, sundown. Thats gotta be where and when Aiwei's going to meet Zaheer." Sean said.
"But I've never heard of that place before? Have either of you?" Asami asked.
"No but that name does sound familiar for some reason." Godzilla said as they pulled out a map of the place.
"Now where would that be?" Sean asked as spirits swarmed the map. "Buzz off!" Sean yelled swatting them away.
"We found Aiwei hiding in an inn." Mako said approaching them.
"Nice work. We found something as well. It looks like he's going to meet Zaheer at sundown at a place called Xai Bau's grove." Sean said.
"But we can't find it anywhere on the map." Asami said holding it.
"Lets keep a close eye on Aiwei and wait for him to move out." Sean said.
"Good idea." Godzilla said.
Meanwhile
Korra smiled as she held Hitomi close as she slept peacefully while Junior in the crib also fast asleep.
David and the others were searching around the place to make sure there were no secret entrances for Zaheer and the others to sneak into.
And Suyin had tripled the guard around the place to make sure she and the Twins were safe.
Thats when someone walked in.
"I don't wanna hear another report. Go away." Korra said.
"I could always come back later."
Korra blinked before turning and saw her father grinning.
"Dad!" Korra yelled rushing to him as he held her.
"You ok?" Tonraq asked.
"Yeah I'm fine. Zaheer and the others came after me again." Korra said.
"I know. Lin told us everything." Tonraq said as Senna walked in and held her.
"Why do they keep coming after me? I thought Unalaq sent them the first time." Korra said.
"So did we. But clearly that might not be the case." Tonraq said.
"Wheres Sean and the others?" Senna asked picking up her grandson.
"Sean went after Aiwei hoping it might lead him to Zaheer and put an end to this for good." Korra said. "How did P'li get out by the way since Sean told me thats where she was." Korra said making Tonraq frown.
"Desna and Eska let them escape. I was going to ask one of the Titans to repair his face for helping but not anymore." Tonraq said. (Instant Karma. He does nothing and misses his chance to have his face fixed)
"Ouch." Korra said.
Meanwhile
Sean and the others waited in a small hotel room as it was almost sundown and Aiwei was not moving.
"It's almost Sundown. Why hasn't Aiwei left yet?" Sean asked.
"Maybe he slipped out when you weren't looking." Asami said.
"No he's there." Mako said before Sean had enough and rushed out. "Sean Wait!" Mako yelled before Sean kicked down the door.
"Huh this I was most certainly not expecting." Godzilla said seeing him in a mediative state.
"He's not leaving to meet with Zaheer. He's in the Spirit world to meet with him. Thats what those spirits from earlier were trying to tell us." Sean said to Asami before getting on the bed before doing the same position. "We're going in after him. I find Aiwei and then I find Zaheer and find out what this is about." Sean said.
"We'll watch him in case he wakes up." Mako said as Sean concentrated.
Sean opened his eyes finding himself in the Spirit world.
"Here we are again." Godzilla said as he rushed off to find Aiwei.
Finding him next to some tree Sean took control.
"Well." Sean said shocking him. "Look what we have here." Sean said glaring at him.
"How did you find me?" Aiwei asked in shock.
"Shut up. What is this about? Why is Zaheer constantly after Korra?" Sean asked before Zaheer appeared.
"Unexpected." Zaheer said.
"What is this about? I thought for sure that Unalaq was behind all this." Sean said.
"One moment if you will." Zaheer said grabbing Aiwei before vanishing.
And both reappeared outside the fog of lost souls before throwing Aiwei into it making him scream. (I still say he deserves worse)
Sean waited before he reappeared.
"I'm gonna go on a limb and guess you threw him into the fog of lost souls?" Sean asked.
"I'm surprised you know about that." Zaheer said.
"Mothra sent some of the worst offenders there rather than kill them. Now what is this about?" Sean asked.
"We are part of a secret society dedicated to restoring freedom to the entire world. We are the Red Lotus." Zaheer said.
"Red Lotus? Like the White Lotus?" Sean asked.
"No. We are what the White Lotus was meant to be. But after the hundred year war the White Lotus lost it's true purpose. They came out of hiding and became what they are now. So a man named Xai Bau left the order and made his own." Zaheer said.
'Oh now I remember him. He was a fucking lunatic who believed in the old ways and wanted to destroy the world.' Sean said.
'Ah yes.' Godzilla said.
"What does this have to do with you keep trying to kidnap Korra?" Sean asked.
"That was Unalaq's idea." Zaheer said.
"I KNEW IT! I knew the timing was too close!" Sean yelled.
Meanwhile
Zaheer sat in a mediative state while the others sat around.
"Kruger. Misty Palms Inn. Find him." Zaheer said.
"You two go. I'll stay here and make sure Zaheer's body is safe." P'li said making them run off.
Back in the Spirit world
"I met Unalaq when I was a teenager after we had both joined the Red Lotus. We learned about Raava and Vaatu and how Avatar Wan foolishly severed them, disrupting the balance of the world forever." Zaheer said.
"In my experience things happen for a reason. Look 10,000 years later. I end up marrying the current Avatar and have two kids and finally began to move on with my life fully. Everything happens for a reason." Sean said.
"I can't really deny that." Zaheer said.
"So this whole damn time you and Unalaq were gonna use Korra to let Vaatu out?" Sean asked.
"No. That was Unalaq's plan. He joined the Red Lotus to further his own selfish power. Becoming a Dark Avatar and destroying the world to make it his way was never our goal. He used us from the start." Zaheer said.
"Well, if it's any consolation he's in pure hell right now." Sean said showing a vision of Unalaq being devoured by a spirit bird as he screamed in horror.
"So I see." Zaheer said.
"But why did he want to Kidnap Korra?" Sean asked.
"He wanted to use her to draw out Godzilla and take revenge for destroying his reputation and position and for the death of his wife." Zaheer said.
"And let me guess? You want to use her to further your own power?" Sean asked.
"No. Korra was nothing but bait." Zaheer said confusing him.
"Bait? Who were you trying to lure out?" Sean asked.
"Our objective was always to find you." Zaheer said making him narrow his eyes.
Meanwhile
Sean still in his meditation sat on the bed as the others watched over him.
However Mako looked outside seeing Ming-Hua and Ghazan walking around.
"Uh, I don't know how, But Water arm lady and Lava guy found us." Mako said.
"How?" Asami asked.
"I just said I don't know how." Mako said before Bolin shook Sean.
"Guys, come on, wake up." Bolin said but nothing happened.
"What do we do?" Asami asked.
"Get Sean out of here." Mako said as he and Bolin lifted him up and put him on Naga. "Bolin and I will hold them off." Mako said.
"Oh Kruger." Ming-Huya sang. "Where are you? I just wanna play...And Destroy you're arms just like you did mine 15 years ago you bastard!" Ming-Hua roared.
"You know the first few times I felt sorry for you. Now you just sound like a broken record." Ghazan said making her growl before a door opened up and Naga rushed out with Sean and Asami.
"KRUGER!" Ming-Hua roared about to chase them but Mako blasted lightning at them making her growl.
Meanwhile
"We've long since known about you and the accident that caused an end to the Golden era the Titans led." Zaheer said.
"Oh for the love of god. If this is some speech about revenge for bringing those things here I..." Sean tried to say.
"No. We know what happened 30,000 years ago was a complete unintended accident. You were searching for a new and more powerful fuel source and had no idea the Kaiju were on the other side. We shared the Titans belief that no one should be punished for an unintended crime." Zaheer said.
"Ok...So what is it you want?" Sean asked.
"We want what you and your wife want. To restore the old order the Titans once made before the war." Zaheer said.
"I don't think our views are the same." Sean said.
"Are you so sure?" Zaheer asked making him raise an eyebrow. "You and your wife kept the spirit portals opened and reestablished the old rules for them in this world. And you even made it a point that man cannot lead itself since Raiko has proven to be shortsighted and selfish and the Queen has no concern for her people and only her self interests." Zaheer said.
"Ok...You got my attention. What are you saying exactly?" Sean asked.
"Don't you think the world would be better if they didn't exist?" Zaheer asked.
"People like them oh yeah. But there are good leaders and Kong had Human leaders in his City since he believes they should have leaders to make them equal. Suyin and the people we've trained are proof enough this concept can work with proper training." Sean said.
"True. However there is one last thing that must be done before the old order can truly start again." Zaheer said.
'Why am I not gonna like this?' Godzilla asked.
"It needs the return of the King you sealed within yourself." Zaheer said.
"Ok first of all he sealed himself within me not the other way around. Second of all thats not gonna happen." Sean said making him frown.
"You would selfishly use his power for yourself?" Zaheer asked.
"No! Godzilla and I have a bond. Where as he is the power and wisdom I am the intelligence and strategy. We compliment each other." Sean said.
"I was hoping you wouldn't be consumed by that power that you would lie about why you keep him within yourself. But I was wrong." Zaheer said.
"Listen insect it's the truth." Godzilla said.
"Changing your voice doesn't convince me even slightly. It's clear you are more interested in that power than restoring the old order." Zaheer said.
'Is this man really this stupid?' Godzilla asked in disbelief.
'Do I need to fucking answer that?' Sean asked.
"I'm not interested in power. Never have been even when I was arrogant in my abilities. I'm telling you the truth. We have..." Sean tried to say.
"Save it. You will not deceive me with your lies as you have so many others. The Titans deserve freedom. And I will free them from their jailers." Zaheer said.
"Listen fuckhead..." Sean tried to say but he vanished. "ZAHEER! God I fucking hate him." Sean said.
'I get the feeling he left for a reason. We need to leave.' Godzilla said as they vanished.
Only to find them bound up and secured. Also some syringe being injected into him that was making it impossible for Godzilla's form to appear to break free.
"ZAHEER YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH! YOU TRICKED ME!" Sean roared before looking at Asami. "You okay? Where's the rest of the Red Lotus?" Sean asked.
"Whats the Red Lotus? Zaheer didn't capture us. The Earth queen's forced did." Asami said making him growl.
"Obviously payback for killing that son of her's. Where are we?" Sean asked.
"I'm not sure. Some camp by the desert. They're taking us back to Ba Sing Se." Asami said making Sean glare harshly.
"When I see her again I'm gonna burn her and her entire palace to ash." Sean said annoyed.
Meanwhile
"The Earth Queen's army snatched Kruger up before we could get to him." Ghazan said before he and Ming-Hua dropped Mako and Bolin who looked beat up.
"But we figured you could find a use for these two." Ming-Hua said.
"Load them in the Truck. We're taking a trip to Ba Sing Se." Zaheer said.
"So what happened?" P'li asked.
"Exactly as I feared. He's been consumed by that power that he won't let the King go. In order for the new Golden rule of the Titans to begin we need to set him free and also wipe out the Kruger bloodline to make sure this never happens again." Zaheer said.
Authors Note: Oh boy. Zaheer in his twisted mind thinks Sean's forcing Godzilla to remain inside him to use his power for his own needs. Idiot. And now he's going after the Earth Queen. So the whole time the Red Lotus were going to use Korra as bait to draw Sean out and force him to let Godzilla out because they think he's forcing him to stay inside to use his power.
