Chapter 43 Old memories
Korra stood at the meditation center looking at Godzilla's statue she first saw five years ago when she came to Republic City.
When news that Sean had just so suddenly disappeared she began searching to city for him but realized he wasn't in Titan City.
For the last 3 years the married couple had spent every moment they could with their three children.
She remembered how Sean struggled to adapt to not having Godzilla inside him for the first couple months since Zaheer forced them to separate due to his stupidity not to listen.
Korra's hatred for Zaheer that day was worse than her hatred towards Unalaq for all the pain he brought to her family for so many years.
She wanted to do more than take his bending away but didn't want her anger to dictate her actions that she might later regret what she did even if he deserved it.
But now things had gotten worse for Sean since he was in bad shape from the delayed effects of the poison Zaheer used on him three years ago.
"Mommy?" Katara asked behind her as she faced her with a small smile as she picked her up.
"What is it sweetie?" Korra asked.
"Wheres Daddy?" Katara asked making her sigh.
"I don't know. But we're gonna find him. I promise." Korra said kissing her forehead as Katara held her.
"Korra." Tenzin said walking to them.
"Anything?" Korra asked.
"We think we know what happened. We believe King Godzilla is responsible for his disappearance. Most likely sent him somewhere he knew he needed to go." Tenzin said.
"Why? Why not just heal him and Godzilla and be done with it?" Korra asked.
"Sean said he works in strange and mysterious ways but always has a reason for everything he does. Whatever that is we don't know just yet. But we will soon enough." Tenzin said making her sigh.
"Is Daddy coming back?" Katara asked making her smile.
"Don't worry. We're gonna find him. I promise." Korra said.
Meanwhile
Sean sighed as he held his face as Toph gave him some tea.
"Thanks. So how long you been out here anyway?" Sean asked.
"Oh a decade or so. You know I enjoy peace and quiet." Toph said.
"You probably should head to Metal City right now with the new Titans showing up. Hell the City could actually make you see for once." Sean said.
"Nah. I'm good as is. Besides then I'd have to see your ugly mug." Toph said making him chuckle.
"You haven't changed at all." Sean said.
"So wheres the ugly Gecko? Hey I'm talking to you." Toph said mockingly making him frown.
"He's gone." Sean said making her frown.
"So the Rumors are actually true. Zaheer did force you two to separate." Toph said.
"Yeah. That fucking moron in his demented mind thought that we were forcing the Titans to remain inside us even though they tried to tell him that they sealed themselves inside us but he just thought we changed our voices. It wasn't until After we separated and told him the same thing that he believed us. I should have killed him when I had the chance." Sean said.
"I had heard rumors but I didn't actually believe it. You were the very last person I ever suspected would lose a fight to someone. Especially with him helping out now that the truth is out." Toph said.
"In more ways than one. I'm sure you heard that I was the one who brought the Kaiju to earth." Sean said.
"Yeah I already knew that. The way you kept dodging the question as to how they came here I knew either you accidentally brought them here or helped the person who did unknowingly." Toph said making him look at her in surprise. "What? I was a cop because of you. I knew something was up." Toph said grinning making him chuckle.
"Yeah well apparently we were both wrong. Mark was the one who brought them here." Sean said.
"Who's Mark?" Toph asked.
"Mark was my old rival who tried to be better than me since unlike him I was well liked and respected and he was not. When my parents died my family got sympathy and then he killed his own in secret hoping to get the same treatment but didn't. And then he used my invention to bring those things here hoping to kill me so he could have Hitomi but it backfired since she was killed and started the war." Sean said.
"So how is he still alive?" Toph asked.
"Well, he's not anymore since he killed himself trying to kill me 3 years ago. As to how he froze himself like how Aang did but he used Cryostasis to do so. The day Korra and I got married he revealed himself trying to take her for himself. Then came at me with a new Mecha Godzilla but failed. Then tried against with another he made as a backup but when he was gonna lose he blew himself up with me and wounded both of us. That gave Zaheer the chance he needed to capture me and you know the rest." Sean said.
"Wow. I don't have a word to describe this guy other than a prick." Toph said.
"I got one or two better. Either the Devil himself or Evil incarnate." Sean said. (I think either suits him)
"Yeah one of those probably work. So where is the big Gecko anyway or do you not know?" Toph asked.
"Oh I know where he is." Sean said confusing her. "I just can't go to him until he's fully recovered. The Poison damaged both of us." Sean said.
"Is that whats in your body or some new invention?" Toph asked confusing him.
"The fuck are you talking about?" Sean asked.
"The metal inside you. Are you seriously telling me you haven't noticed that stuff in you?" Toph asked.
"I thought the doctors and Suyin got it all out 3 years ago." Sean said surprised it was still in him.
"Well, it's so small no one or machine would probably notice it. But it's still there." Toph said.
"So thats why I've been so sick the last couple weeks. Whatever was left of Godzilla's energy was probably fighting it off until now." Sean said.
"Probably. I can get it out...If I get paid." Toph said grinning making his eyes twitch.
"Toph...I'm two seconds from punching you in the mouth." Sean said making her laugh.
"Oh relax I'm just screwing around. Let's get this over with." Toph said as he sat down. "This should be easy." Toph said.
As Toph tried to remove the metal Sean started groaning as his fists clinched before she stopped.
"Will you stop moving?" Toph asked.
"You try having this stuff removed from ya. Get it over with." Sean said as she tried again.
Only it had the same results from before Sean Gasped as he stood up.
"The hell is taking so long?" Sean asked.
"I think your resisting and don't want it out." Toph said.
"Why in the name of hell would I not want it out of me?" Sean asked in disbelief.
"Think about it. If you don't fully recover you have an excuse not to go out and fight. So you want it to stay inside knowing you would have that excuse to stay out of the fight." Toph said making him frown as he looked outside.
"I...I don't know." Sean said.
"You said it yourself you hate fighting but was more than willing to do it if you had to." Toph said making him sigh.
"What the fuck am I going to do? If I let it stay inside it's just gonna make me sick until he comes back and purges it." Sean said.
"You need to figure that out on your own. My advice is go and walk around a bit and think on it." Toph said making him sigh before walking off.
Meanwhile
Korra smiled seeing her kids playing with Naga who chased them down.
Each one of them like both parents was a water bender much to her joy so she could teach them what she knew.
"They seem to be happy." Asami said sitting next to her.
"Keeps their minds off current events." Korra said making her nod.
"How you holding up?" Asami asked making her sigh.
"I'm completely terrified. In his current state he's completely vulnerable to anything. And who knows where he is." Korra said.
"I know. David and the others are looking for him right now. They'll find him." Asami said.
"I just feel helpless not knowing where he is. I have all this power and I can't even find him." Korra said.
After what happened to Sean Korra went to some of the other Titans to get extra training and got even more powerful.
At her current rate she could have taken down the first Mecha Godzilla on her own easily.
"Relax. I get the feeling he's where he needs to be. If the original did send him someplace theres obviously a reason for it. Maybe someplace to help him accept whats happened to him." Asami said.
"Maybe." Korra said before getting splashed making her spit out water before hearing Katara giggle as she chuckled. "Oh you are so gonna get it missy." Korra said chasing her making her scream in laughter while Asami smiled.
Meanwhile
Sean sighed as he walked through the Swamp before kicking a rock into the water.
"The fuck am I supposed to do?" Sean asked.
Thats when he heard laughter.
"Hmm?" Sean asked following the sound before he walked into a tree.
When he did however though he found himself back in the forests of Titan City.
"The hell?" Sean asked before looking around. "Wait a minute. This all looks wrong...This is how I remember the place before..." Sean tried to say before hearing the laughter again making him turn and widened his eyes
He saw himself as a five year old running through the forest chasing fire flies.
"What the hell?" Sean asked before his younger self caught one before looking at it in his hand before it flew away making him laugh before noticing where he was.
"Mommy?" The younger Sean called out but got no reply.
"Oh I remember this. I ran off in the middle of the night while we were out camping. It was the..." Sean tried to say before hearing a fierce growl making him look seeing a Hungry predator snarling at his younger self making him start crying as it lunged at him.
Only for a hand to block it making both Sean's look up seeing Godzilla who roared at the predator who ran off in fear.
"Now why in the world would a little boy be out here alone? Thats not very smart." Godzilla said making him pout.
"Hey! I'm smarter than you!" The Younger Sean yelled making him chuckle.
"Really? So wandering the forest alone at night is a smart move?" Godzilla asked making him pout as he chuckled before picking him up and took him back to his family.
"I remember this day. It was the day we first met in person." Sean said to himself.
"I knew you would Remember." King Godzilla said making him look around.
"Why did you bring me here?" Sean asked.
"To remind you of something. Even at a young age you two had developed this very special bond and didn't even know it yet. A bond that even when separated...Can never be broken." King Godzilla said.
"Yeah. I just wished I tried harder." Sean said.
"You did everything you possibly could have done 3 years ago. Mark wounded both of you making it Easy for Zaheer to do what he did. There was nothing more you could have done. You need to accept what happened all those years ago both with Zaheer and 30,000 ago and move on. Even though Mark was the one who brought the Kaiju here." King Godzilla said.
"But it was my invention he used to do so for his selfish reasons. If I hadn't built it..." Sean tried to say.
"You truly believe you would have been the only one who suggested that idea in your era? That no one else would have made the same suggestion if you didn't bring it up?" King Godzilla asked.
"Well, No I don't mean that." Sean tried to say.
"Someone in years to come would have made the same suggestion and most likely mess up or the same thing Mark did could have happened. You only brought up that subject of traveling beyond the dimension to find a new fuel source to benefit the world for good reasons. Someone else would have done it for fame or profit. Everything you ever did was selfless Even when Arrogant in your abilities." King Godzilla said.
"True." Sean said.
"So let go of the past and focus on the present and Future. In time he will return. But not now." King Godzilla said as Sean felt him vanish making him sigh as he walked out.
"Clear your head?" Toph asked making him look at her.
"Yeah. I've been holding onto the past for so many years its difficult to let go." Sean said before she earthbended him down. "OW! Fuck! What was that for?" Sean asked.
"It doesn't matter its in the past." Toph said laughing.
"Yeah but that still hurt." Sean said.
"Yeah the Past can hurt. I know that from experience. But from what you taught us we can either run from it or...Learn from it." Toph said trying to earth bend him again but he dodged. "HA! See? So what are you gonna do?" Toph asked.
"First...I'm gonna kick your ass!" Sean yelled moving to hit her but she dodged as he fell into the water making her laugh.
"Your blind compared to me." Toph laughed.
"Whatever. Now get this metal out of me." Sean said making her chuckle.
Soon the two were back in her tree as Sean stood still before she removed the metal inside him completely.
"Finally." Sean said feeling tons better now that it was finally out.
"Want it as a souvenir?" Toph teased.
"Get that shit away from me!" Sean yelled making her laugh. "Man you'll never change." Sean said amused.
"Like you actually want me to." Toph said before they heard a bird call making Sean look as Fawkes arrived and landed next to him.
"Hey boy." Sean said petting his neck making him purr before he grew bigger and Sean got on the back. "See ya around. Oh wait you can't see." Sean teased before Fawkes flew off just as she tried to earthbend him. "MISSED!" Sean mocked as they flew off.
"Heh. I guess I deserve that." Toph said heading back inside.
Meanwhile
Korra laughed as she was playing with her kids using Waterbending.
Thats when they heard Fawkes as he landed down before Sean got off.
"Sean?" Korra asked as he faced her.
"Hey." Sean said as she hugged him before the kids did as well. "Sorry to disappear like that. Not my call." Sean said.
"I know. Where did you go?" Korra asked.
"To the old swamp. Met Toph who found out I still had some of the poison inside me." Sean said shocking her.
"I thought the Doctors and Suyin got it all out." Korra said.
"Apparently not. Thats why I was getting sick the last 2 weeks. Now that its out I feel way better." Sean said as she held him.
"I'm just glad you're ok." Korra said making him smile.
Later
Sean watched as the kids were playing in the water with Naga with a smile on his face.
"Something else happened while you were gone." Korra said sitting next to him.
"Yeah. I was still clinging to the past because I still blamed myself for what happened. Kept thinking if I didn't make that portal Mark none of that would have happened." Sean said.
"Sean, you were doing it for the right reasons. Mark just twisted it for his own selfish reasons." Korra said.
"I know. Still as much as I miss Hitomi and everyone else who died that day...I did meet you and have the Kids." Korra said making her smile as she kissed him before both got splashed. "Oh." Sean said annoyed before they heard the Kids laughing. "Oh thats it!" Sean yelled as they charged at them making them scream in laughter.
Authors Note: Now heres a good ending for this episode. Sean remembering how he and Godzilla first met 30,000 years ago and letting go of the past to focus on the present and Future waiting for Godzilla to Return.
