-1 Chapter 4: A Pleasant Surprise
"Do you mind?" InuYasha growled.
"What, do you want me to leave?" Kareena said with a smile.
"I need a bath and I don't want you watching me." InuYasha explained.
"Fine, I'll go slay the old woman and take the jewel shards she is supposedly hiding. Although that glow shows very well where they are." she teased.
"What! You can see the jewel shards!" InuYasha yelled.
Maybe she is related to Kikyo in some way. Even if she isn't we still need to get her on our side. InuYasha thought to himself.
"What are you staring at? And why are you looking at me while… smiling?" Kareena asked with a worried voice.
InuYasha flattened his ears and turned around to think about what to say.
He stayed silent for the rest of the evening. He was thinking about Kareena and how he could get her to help him find the rest of the jewel shards.
That night he found himself on the top of Kareena's hut staring out at the stars and the beautiful full moon that was out.
In the morning, InuYasha found himself lying down inside the hut covered by a blanket. He sat there staring at the roof thinking.
How did I get in here? I don't remember coming in to sleep. Did the other woman carry me in here and lay me down? Kaede wouldn't have been able to even to get on the roof.
Maybe she likes me, no. we just met how could she love me? I was rude to her.
"Are you ever going to get up? From what Kaede tells me your usually up by now. Come on before I go over there and leave a scar." Kareena said deviously
"InuYasha, ye best get up for this morning I found she isn't kidding." Kaede warned.
Outside she rubbed the wound Kareena inflicted on her arm.
InuYasha got up to see Kareena was in the entrance looking at him as if he has been her friend for years.
"Did you bring me inside?" InuYasha asked.
Kareena frowned as she came over and sat next to him.
"I did. But you must understand, I did it because, well, I didn't want you to get cold." Kareena said blushing.
InuYasha looked over at her and she turned away. Suddenly, she smelled something and growled.
"I smell a human, no, two humans, and two youkai!" Kareena exclaimed.
Her tail twitched and she stood up. InuYasha just looked at her, still thinking about what she had said. InuYasha snapped back to reality when Kareena spoke again.
"Don't you smell them?"
"Smell who?" InuYasha replied
"The two youkai and the two humans of course! I guess your nose isn't as good as mine."
She sniffed the air once more and then relaxed.
"Well, they're not headed our way, so we wont have to meet and greet, at least." Kareena said relieved.
"I cant believe that Kaede and I have been to the hot spring so many times and we never seen your home. And how come when I smelled and saw you yesterday I couldn't tell anything about you?" InuYasha asked out of nowhere.
"Oh, my friend put a spell on me so you cant tell much of anything about me. She was a priestess, and a worrier." Kareena giggled.
After she stopped giggling, she looked over at InuYasha and spoke.
"Are you hungry? Kaede is making some rice for us to have."
"No." his stomach growled "Okay, so I am hungry! Fine, I'll eat!" the inu hanyou bellowed.
Kareena just smiled and moved the curtain open, giving him the gesture to walk out.
While they were all eating ( Kareena ate in the tree above ) Kareena looked down and watched InuYasha eat. Then, she noticed.
A/N: hey, it didn't take me three months to put up a new chapter. Woo for me! I have found out, simply by thinking, that you guys can curse in your reviews. The only thing is, I still would appreciate it if you don't use the 'F' word. All the rest are fine. In fact later in my story I will begin to use some of them. I am now on chapter 22 in writing, sadly, I have yet to get that far in typing. I have a five day weekend, due to conferences, and if I don't have any bad grades, I will type all weekend.
