It is a new day but the baby's fate and future weighs heavily on Henry's mind. "Mom, you should take the amino or x Chromosome test" Henry suggests over breakfast. I place a protective hand over my growing baby bump. "Henry, I am in perfect good health. There is nothing wrong with myself or the baby" I deny. "Mom, you are a seasoned older woman. Women within your age range can have babies with birth defects such as Down Syndrome" Henry informs me. "An amino or a X Chromosome test can detect birth defects such as Down Syndrome" Killian gathers from listening to our conversation. Henry and Killian understand it is my body and choice so they drop the subject.

Place: A Hospital Delivery Room
Event: Ellie's birth
Emma's p.o.v
Solemn, a nurse hands me a baby whose gender is a mystery. A blanket is covering the baby's face. She nor the doctor say anything. Killian, Henry, and I are appalled by their actions. We discover the baby is a girl that has Down Syndrome. I, personally, cry a mixture of happy and sad tears.

My brave, sweet, and special little girl inspires me especially right now when she is having a checkup. Unlike previously, the doctor nor myself have any serious concerns about her health.
