Chapter 2 Broken doesn't mean dead

Ichigo sits on his bed in his dorm room, waiting for his roommate Uryu Ishida to arrive back from his course.

Ichigo grabs his English lit classwork out of his bag and grabbing his laptop.

I need to get this done, or Professor Yoruichi will certainly massacre me! Her yellow cat-like eyes are terrifying! He thinks as he begins quickly staring at the copy of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, slowly going over the lesson professor Yoruichi assigned to the class.

"Professor Yoruichi expects us to pick lines and opening Seductions. which means to analyze the first page using at least five examples from the text on what the story is about," Ichigo says aloud to himself.

Sounds simple enough he thinks as he begins to read the first page of the Novel after finishing he begins typing the assignment.

1.The narrator of The Great Gatsby is a young man from Minnesota named Nick Carraway.

2.He not only narrates the story but casts himself as the book's author.

3.He begins by commenting on himself, stating that he learned from his father to reserve judgment about other people because if he holds them up to his moral standards, he will misunderstand them.

4. He characterizes himself as both highly honest and high tolerant.

5.He briefly mentions his story's hero, Gatsby, saying that Gatsby represented everything he scorns, but he exempts Gatsby entirely from his usual judgments.

After typing out his answers, Ichigo prints out the assignment and places it into his English Binder for next Monday.

After putting his paper away, Ichigo sits and stares at the beige, white ceiling.

Rukia…Why have you come back? Why did you look so damaged and defeated? It appears your eyes missed their shine...

Why the hell am I actually thinking like this?!? Rukia and I are no longer friends, We're strangers now!. Ichigo sighs, deeply anxious by his thoughts.

After practically sprinting away from Ichigo, Rukia shortly makes her way to World History.

When she enters the lecture hall, she promptly takes a seat next to a beautiful woman with orangish-brown hair with a rather large chest. "Hello, I'm Orihime Inoue. Nice to meet you!" the woman declares merrily with a huge smile, grey eyes twinkling bright.

"Hello Orihime, my name's Rukia Kuchiki. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"What a lovely name Kuchiki-San!"

"Thank you, Orihime Er. I mean Inoue-San, sorry, it's been a long time since I've been in Japan." Rukia mumbles with a slight smile.

"Oh, it's alright! Kuchiki-San, where did you live before?" Orihime questions curiously.

"My family and I lived in a place called Portland, Oregon, in the United States." Rukia answers gently as recollections flow through her mind.

"Oh, why did you come back to Japan?" The bubbly girl asked, unaware of Rukia's current emotional state.

"I'm sorry, I must go." Rukia confesses as she quickly stands and races towards the door.

"But you'll miss history! Kuchiki-San!" Orihime shouts after her as she runs out of the lecture hall.

After Rukia is in the corridor she jerks her hood over her head, trying to steady her panicking thoughts.

It's my fault Hisana's death happened. If only I had gone to get her before my brother put me in the panic room.

Instead of listening to Nii-Sama I should have gone to her! We believe Nii-sama business enemies had something to do with it they indeed promised that they would someday make the Kuchiki's fall and they started with my wonderful sister Hisana's murder….

Who are they after? Is it me or Byakuya?...

Am I truly safe here?!

As these thoughts race through Rukia's mind, she shoves herself to hurry away from everyone.

She eventually makes out of the building and glaces down to see what dorm building she's in and sprints towards it.

when she arrives she runs inside.

Fuck i wont be able to make it to my dorm room!..

Discovering a deserted common area she falls onto the ground, putting her back against a wall as tears proceed to pool in her eyes. Rukia positions her head on her knees as her panic attack begins.

Ichigo's bored of waiting for Uryu, so he elects to buy lunch before his next course.

Ichigo strides his way out of his dorm room, passing into the common room he hesitates hearing soft crying.

Curious, Ichigo gradually walks over to the sound. As he reaches near, he discovers that the woman is tiny and has raven hair covering her face. "Hey, what's wrong?" Ichigo inquires gently as he stares down at the woman.

The woman stiffens then stares up at him with tears running down her face.

Rukia?!?

"Rukia? What the hell's wrong with you?" Ichigo's questions concern running through him.

"Ichigo!" Rukia whimpers as she flings herself into his embrace, burying her head into his chest.

"Hey, it's okay. Tell me what happened." Ichigo coaxes her gently, stunned that she leaped into his arms.

"Nii-Sama sent me back here because...Hisana was murdered, and he fears I'll be next!" Rukia whimpers further as she proceeds to become fatigued from her panic attack.

Horrified even further and now furious for those who dare to harm Rukia. Ichigo tightens his grasp on her before whirling toward his dorm room to put Rukia somewhere safe.

Jogging towards the dorms, Ichigo reaches his room, before unlocking the door and positioning Rukia onto his mattress to rest.

"I'll protect you, Rukia. I've got you.." Ichigo murmurs as she drifts entirely to sleep.

Portland Oregon.

"Renji." Byakuya Kuchiki says as he answers the phone as he reclines in his luxurious office with floor-length windows with beautiful timber floors and a dark desk in the center overlooking the city of Portland.

"Kuchiki, your sister Is with an orange-haired man. Will she be safe?"

Byakuya thinks back for a moment in Rukia's childhood as he leans back in his chair "If his name is Ichigo Kurosaki, then yes, she will be well protected."

"Very well, sir, so far, there has been no sign of Tsukishima or his men, but I will keep my eyes open," Renji replies as he hung up.

Byakuya sighs deeply as he tries to sort all the emotions threatening to overwhelm him as he gazes at his beautiful wife's picture. "I'll protect her, Hasina, I promise."
