Hekate was getting impatient. The wolves were five minutes late. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she heard the thudding of paws approaching, not many people knew this, but when you turned into an Animagus you took on certain qualities of the animal you turned into.
so, while nowhere near as good as vampires, Her hearing and eyesight were on par with the animal she turned into. Her ears pricked as she also noticed the number of silhouettes approaching from the darkness, The Cullens didn't even bat an eye, she had told them about her Animagus form, though she had yet to show them.
A minute later eight large wolves stepped into view. Edward Grimaced. "They don't trust us enough to be in their human form." He explained. Hekate noticed most of the Cullens scowling. Carlisle, ever the pacifist, sighed. "They came, that's what matters." He said placatingly. Hekate's blood boiled.
"Bullshit!" She hissed. Everyone turned to look at her but she paid them no mind as she rounded on the wolves. "Listen up you egotistical balls of future fur pelts! You either change back into human form and show us the same amount of respect we are showing you, or we can leave and you can deal with the twenty-something newborn vampires headed here yourself!" she hissed.
Some of the Wolves began growling but Hekate was having none of it, after a moment when no wolf moved to change she turned back to the Cullens. "Fine then, let's go, we're not going to sit here and let them disrespect us like this. If they don't care about their families getting massacred then so be it. If they were my soldiers I'd tell them to go the fuck home, kids have no place on a battlefield." She said.
And before anyone could say anything she began to walk off in the direction of the house. Edward immediately followed her, followed closely by Rosalie and Jasper, both of whom wholeheartedly agreed with Hekate. Alice and Emmett followed their mates not a second later, and Esme hesitated a beat before resting her arm on Carlisle's shoulder in silent communication.
And with that, he wound his arm around her waist as they followed their children. They hadn't gone twenty paces before they heard a voice calling out to them. "Wait!" they all turned to see Jacob Black walking towards them in shorts.
Sam growled and darted into the tree line, he was back a moment later in cut off Jeans. "Jacob!" He yelled. Jacob turned furiously towards Sam. "No Sam! If you want to stand there and risk our Tribe, Risk Emily over fucking prejudice bullshit. You go right ahead and do just that. But I sure as hell am not taking any chances with my father's life!" He shouted angrily.
He then turned to Seth and Leah, "what about you two huh? Are you going to risk your mother's life over bullshit assumptions?" He challenged. Both of them growled before darting into the tree line and coming back out moments later, Seth, in shorts like Jacob, and Leah in shorts and a tank top.
Leah sighed and looked at Sam. "Jacob's right, the leeches obviously don't have to be here like you assumed since they were quick to leave, even you have to admit that we can't take on 20 vampires Sam, not alone at least." She reasoned.
Sam sighed and turned to the rest of the pack. "Change back, Now!" He ordered. The remainder of the wolves shot into the tree line before emerging a moment later, all of them wearing shorts.
The Cullens and Hekate slowly walked back to their original positions. Sam and Jacob returned to the pack before speaking. "Now what's this you're saying about 20 vampires headed our way?" Sam asked. "And why did you bring that," Paul said. Sneering In Hekate's direction. Edward and Rosalie hissed, making the wolves tense.
"Paul! Be quiet!" Sam thundered. Paul scowled, but said no more. Sam turned towards Hekate. "I'm sorry about him, but I too would like to know why you're here, isn't it too dangerous for you?" he asked. Hekate snorted. "No, and if you want to know why, and what my secret is, I need you to swear on your honor to tell no Human, including Bella, that doesn't know about you and the Cullens about me and my kind.
Until you do I can only tell you that I am lethal and that I am not human, though I appear to be. This is because the laws that govern my world are very clear when it comes to who can know about us. If Isabella, along with any other human not in the know were to hear about us through you, their memories would have to be wiped, not just a few, all their memories." Hekate lied.
They had agreed that they shouldn't tell the wolves that Hekate would be the one in trouble if they told Bella, the wolves probably wouldn't care if that was the case, but if it were their own in danger, then they wouldn't break their word.
Sam thought for a moment and nodded. Being the voice of the pack he spoke for all of them. "We swear on our honor not to expose your secret to Bella Swan and any other human not in the know," Sam said. The other wolves nodded their consent.
"I'm A witch," Hekate said. Paul snorted. "Yeah right, this bitch-" Hekate had had enough, she quickly raised her wand and pointed it directly at Paul. "Petrificus Totalus!" she hissed. Paul's eyes widened as his limbs snapped into place at his sides and he fell over, stiff as a board. The wolves all took a step back, their eyes wide. "What did you do?" Sam demanded furiously.
Hekate glared at him icily. "Nothing compared to what I could have done, keep him in line, this is your only warning." She hissed menacingly. Sam gulped, as Hekate glared murder at him, after a moment she did a silent finite.
Paul jumped up and for a second Hekate thought he would be stupid enough to attack, but he proved to have some brains when he backed off to the assumed safety of his pack. Hekate sighed before continuing. "As I said, I am a witch. and a pretty damn powerful one at that. Now, if I could, I would just contact MACUSA, -and before you ask MACUSA is The Magical Congress of the United States.- and have them deal with this damned newborn army. However, I cannot, as the Army itself does not pose a threat to the magical world or its inhabitants,
And no I do not count because I am becoming involved with this situation of my own free will, so that means we have to deal with them, as it stands, we believe the army to contain 20-25 newborns at present, this number may increase or decrease depending on different situations, now I will turn you over to Jasper, he is somewhat of an expert on these armies, any questions you may have, pose them to him." Hekate said.
swiftly stepping aside and letting Jasper take the floor, so to speak. "Before I begin, are there any questions?" He asked, taking confidence from the set-down that Hekate Had given them. Sam stepped forward. "These, newborns, they are different from others of your kind?" he asked. Jasper nodded.
"A vampire is never more physically powerful, nor more temperamental than in our first few months of this new life, that's why they are created, a newborn army, doesn't need thousands like a human army, but no human army could stand against them.
The two most important things you'll need to remember are, first, don't let them get their arms around you they'll crush you instantly, and second, don't go for the obvious kill. That's all they'll be prepared for. As long as you come at them from the side and keep moving, they'll be too confused to respond effectively. They'll be fighting almost like children.
Right now the odds are in our favor, whoever is behind this army has little more than three weeks to move in on the town, or they will risk their army completely destroying themselves, when I said they fight like children, I meant it.
They will argue amongst each other, and fight, before eventually killing each other, no newborn army can last more than five months before they begin to destroy themselves, whoever is creating them will now have to either face us with whatever numbers they have or risk the army destroying itself. Emmett?" Jasper asked, turning to his brother.
Hekate and the Cullens immediately cleared a fighting space and the wolves wisely backed up ten paces as Jasper and Emmett lowered into crouches. "Go for the obvious kill, and don't hold back," Jasper said, with a smirk. Emmett narrowed his eyes "Not in my nature" he retorted. In the next second, they were blurs as they began their sparing.
while the wolves could follow the fight easily enough, they also noted that Hekate had no trouble keeping up with the fight either, of course, they had No idea that this came from being a seeker whose sole objective was to spot a fast-moving flying object the size of a walnut, and from spending hours watching professional matches where she often spotted the snitch before any of the team members did.
They assumed that it was another trait of a witch, and this observation made them wary, for they had not yet seen a weakness, and to them, this left them with the mistaken idea that witches must not have weaknesses. It never crossed their minds that, though she was young, Hekate might have been the exception, not the rule.

Two hours later, it became painfully apparent to the wolves that Jasper was not the only one who had experience in war, they had no doubt that Hekate had been a general on the front lines sometime during her short life, and between the vampire and the witch, they knew who they feared more, at least jasper didn't send stinging beams of light at them whenever they made a foul comment about the Cullens, however, to be fair, she had stung the blonde female as well when she muttered something about mutts.
Hekate seemed determined to turn them into battle-ready killing machines by the time these weeks were up, oddly enough, that only made the wolves respect her more, and not once did they even consider using what they learned against the Cullens.
Thankfully, after recognizing that the wolves needed the occasional break to gather their wits, she allowed them a half an hour's pause, but only after firmly reminding them that the enemy wouldn't allow them any breaks.
As the wolves all sat on logs Hekate had conjured, Paul, who had learned to respect the raven-haired girl, spoke up. "Hekate, it's obvious you're no stranger to war, yet, you're so young, what happened in your world if you don't mind my asking?" he inquired.
Hekate studied the young wolf for a moment, in her eyes, his attitude had done a complete 180, she assumed that a lot of his arrogance must be a fit of bravado, a bid to be kingpin amongst the lower ranks, so she answered him, hoping to convey that attitude didn't belong in a group of supposed protectors.
She started with the rise of Voldemort, birth name, Tom Riddle. She then moved onto the prophecy, and how she ended up being chosen, she calmly related her parent's deaths, revealing that she remembered what happened that night, which drew more than a few horrified looks. She made no attempt to gloss over her years at the Dursleys, she needed them to see that she was no English flower, she was a warrior, at one point Seth had lost his lunch and the others didn't look to be too far behind him.
Hekate didn't falter though, she continued to speak, finally getting to her Hogwarts years, the good, the bad, the painful, and the ugly. Then she got to the war, the hunt, how they spent a year on the run, how they had sometimes gone for days without eating to preserve rations, and finally she arrived at the final battle, the death, the horror, the courage, and the determination. She ensured she spoke of the losses, both personal and not, how the survivors couldn't stop for a second, even when their family and friends were dying before their very eyes.
Then, to everyone's shock, she spoke of her encounter with Voldemort in the forest, going to sacrifice herself to give a level of protection to the fighters, they were astounded at how she casually described what should have been her death as a worthy sacrifice, one life that would protect hundreds, and yet when asked she seemed to think it nonsensical for anyone else to have made the same sacrifice.
They listened, transfixed as she described dying, seeing her parents, and then miraculously coming back to fight again because, according to her, that was what she was meant to do. " there we were, in the great hall of a place that had been my home for the last seven years, yet it looked nothing like it, the war had ruined Hogwarts beauty that day, and somehow that only made me angrier, it was physical proof of the fact that Voldemort was willing to ruin everything, even what should rightfully have been a safe haven for all magical children.
I'm sure others will tell you i no doubt had love running through my mind when i killed Voldemort, love for my school, love for my friends, love for the wizarding world, but that's Not true, in those final moments of the battle the only thing i could register was hate, i hated Voldemort, I hated him for everything he's ever done to me and my family, and i used that hate to kill him once and for all, Voldemort never even saw the killing curse coming, he like many saw a precious 'light savior',
They never even considered the possibility of me using their own techniques against them, which is stupid, if the war taught me one thing, it's that there are no rules in a fight" Hekate relayed.
After that, the wolves seemed to actually grasp the enormity of what Hekate had been through, she had effectively been on the front lines every step of the way during the war since she was 14, and she simply accepted it as her duty,
For the ones who had resented being protectors, it made them feel ashamed of their actions, sure they had changed young and had to give some things up, like old friends, and had to keep people on the rez from finding out, but this girl had basically been handed her marching orders and told to beat a man who had decades of experience and knowledge over her or die trying
With that they quietly resolved to be proud of their gifts, and do right by their ancestors.
~Scene~
The next day at School, the Cullens Peaceful lunch period was interrupted by Bella as she sat down at their table as if she belonged there. Hekate shot her an amused look, having been quietly warned about this latest plan of Swan's By Alice, they both agreed it would be more entertaining for them that is, if they didn't warn the rest of the family.
Rosalie scowled as the boys pointedly ignored Swan, not interested in whatever plan she had cooked up now. "What do you want you cheating little bitch" Rosalie hissed. Bella looked at Rosalie with a fake innocent expression. "I'm waiting until the father of my child stops acting like an immature kid, and finally acknowledges me." She said with a nasty smirk.
Alice and Hekate hid their smiles behind their hands as the others' heads whipped around to stare at Bella, shocked. After a moment Edwards face became livid as he focused his glare on Bella who stared back confidently.
"Ok, first of all, everyone at this table knows you're lying because i've never had sex with you, and believe me, my siblings would have smelt it if I had, second, who the fuck did you think you were trying to fool with this bullshit?" Edward asked furiously. Bella's smile widened.
"Hmmm, well you may know that, but the rest of the school doesn't, And I know how important it is for your family to keep a low profile, so here's what's going to happen, you're going to drop that freak bitch, and get back with me, than turn me into a vampire, or, I tell everyone in town that you got me pregnant, and now you're demanding I get rid of it or you'd deny that it's yours." She whispered victoriously.
Baring Alice and Hekate Everyone's faces at the table turned livid, finally Hekate burst into giggles. Bella glared at her, "What are you laughing at freak? You think Edward would choose you over the safety of his family?" She asked furiously.
Hekate rolled her eyes. "Ah, there's a few things wrong with your little plan, Chit, First of all EVERYONE already knows you cheated on Edward, and given that nobody likes you, it would be ridiculously easy to convince them that any spawn of yours is Jacobs, if in fact you are pregnant, Second of all We could easily produce a paternity test that states Edward isn't the father, and no one would be able to tell it's fake,
Last but not least, Alice saw your little plan, did you forget your decisions were being watched? Edwards official medical record states that he is in fact, infirtile, therefore, proving he is not the father of whatever the hell crawls out of you. Nice try though, points for effort, better luck next time," She said sweetly.
At that all the Cullens broke into quiet laughter, as Bella, now red faced with shame, stalked off, silently fuming and resolving to use the visitor in her room as a way back into the Cullens lives, Jacob mentioned something about a fight, she hadn't really been paying attention, she was to fixated on her plan that now lay in ruins, all she had to do was find a way to be at that fight, after all, when vampires fought, accidents could happen, she could easily 'accidentally' get bitten, then kill that Potter Bitch easily. She would regret ever coming to Forks
