Prologue
Disclaimer: I do not own anything.
Author's note: FeralG3, I promised that I'd write this story, and I usually try to stick to my promises. So, here's the prologue. Hope you like it.
Godric's Hollow, 31st October, 1981
"Look, there's a blue one," cooed James Potter to his one year, two months and 17 hours old baby boy, Harry Potter, or as he wanted to name him, 'Actual Proof that I had sex with Lily Evans'. But the redhead, the love of his life, and his wife didn't allow him. Can you believe that? Lily Evans married James Potter, and was now Lily Potter. It had a ring to it.
A lot had changed since their school days. One major thing being the war. One of the many reasons he was cooped up inside this stupid house while he could be out there fighting. But he knew that Voldemort was after them, and he had to stay safe for his Flower and Bambi.
"Come on, darling," interrupted the wonderful voice of Lily and he looked up at her. She was staring down at Harry, her green eyes, the ones that Harry had inherited, filled with love. Her auburn hair was loose and fell on her back in waves. She was beautiful. "It's time to go to bed. Say G'night to Dada now."
"No bed," pouted the kid. He, like all other kids, hated bedtime and getting him to bed was like fighting with a hippogriff.
"We'll play again tomorrow, Bambi," he soothed the kid. "Now it's time to go to bed."
But the kid remained relentless, and Lils finally gave in. "Fifteen more minutes," she warned me. I nodded because I knew that if I was even a second late, she would hex me to kingdom come.
A few minutes later, he heard the property door creak. He gazed at Lily and by the look in Lily's eyes, he knew that she had heard it too. Voldemort. That was the only person who would use that door. The rest just flooed or apparated. "Lily, it's him," he shouted. "Take Harry and go. I'll hold him off."
He could see her hesitating. "But James-," she started but there was no time to waste.
He quickly kissed her and Harry, knowing that it could be the last time he saw either of them. "Go," he whispered and Lily scooped Harry up. The intelligent kid had noticed something was up and started crying but his mother shushed him. She looked into his eyes and then ran up the stairs into the nursery. It was time to confront Voldemort.
He went into the hallway. The nose-less man was standing there, his red eyes glowing eerily. "Ah, James Potter," the man, no monster said in his nasally voice. "So we meet again."
"I'm not letting you get Harry," he said firmly, knowing full well this might lead to his death but doing all he could to halt the dark wizard.
"I know," said Voldemort and his lips twisted into a cruel smirk as he raised his wand. "Ignari," he whispered and everything went black.
When he woke up, it was in a bed of rubble. He sat up and groaned as he massaged his forehead. "Sirius, I'm never getting dru-," he started saying before the memories flooded him. "Wait a minute, Lily! Harry!" He stood up and with the light of his wand made his way upto the nursery through the almost demolished staircase. The door had been blown open, and on the floor, and on the floor-
Her auburn hair lay like a halo around her head as her green eyes stared blankly at nothing, never to again have the spark of life in them. She was leaning against the crib, one hand spread as if to shelter somebody, oh Harry. He picked up the unconscious baby, noticing that he was bleeding from the forehead. He wiped the blood off to see that it was a lightning bolt scar, the same wand movements that were used to cast the Killing Curse.
FeralG3, here's the prologue. Review to tell me what you think about it. Second chapter will be posted in the next week, or sooner if I'm free. Also, the plot I'm going to be taking with this is based of 'The Different Beginning' by Breanie. Check it out. It's a bit slow-paced, but the lore's amazing. I read it when I was in an 'AU with canon pairings' phase, which meant that I read it directly before or after the Dangerverse. I found a lot of gems at that time, and I'm gonna revisit them soon, so yeah, rant's over.
