Chapter 4

Sam unlocked the driver's door and slipped into the Impala to reach across and unlock the passenger door for Breeze. He was unsure and a little scared as he cranked the car while she settled in the seat and looked the inside over with a critical eye.

"This is a '67, right?" Breeze asked checking the interior.

"Yes," Sam replied letting the car idle for a moment before putting her in reverse to back out.

"Man, for being this old, she's not bad looking at all." Breeze frown as Baby jerked making Sam hit the brakes before he hit something and tossed Breeze forward.

"Umm…She doesn't like being called old," Sam managed to get out as he pulled around the bar and to the road.

"Oh, so the car has feelings. Sorry sweetie didn't mean to offend you," Breeze said patting the dash. "How about you? You have any love interests I should be aware of? I don't take someone else's boyfriend."

"What? No, not in a while."

"Don't be so tense Sammy, we're just going to have some fun," Breeze told him as she slid closer where she could lay a hand on his leg. She felt him tremble slightly under her touch and smirked at his discomfort. Breeze was trying to figure Sam out and what made him tick.

"Where do you want to go?" Sam asked as he cleared his throat and wasn't sure if he liked her calling him Sammy or not. That was Dean's name for him and no one else used it.

"Let's get away from the town and the lights. Go right for about six miles and there's a road on the left that goes up a small mountain. It's got a good view of the valley." She fiddled with the radio and found a station letting music fill the car.

"Alright." Sam followed her directions, and it didn't take him long to find the road she was talking about. After a few miles it turned into gravel as it continued to rise until turning to dirt and ending in a small clearing. He pulled near then edge of the cliff and parked, shutting off the engine and lights.

"Come on, the view is great," Breeze coaxed him giving him a small shove to get out. "Okay to leave the radio on?"

"I guess." Sam left the keys in the car with the radio playing.

Sam got out and let Breeze slide across and get out after him. He walked around to the front of the car and looked out across the valley and had to admit it was a nice view. He jumped when Breeze took his arm and pulled him back to sit on the hood of the car.

"Easy big boy, I'm not going to ravish that sexy body," she told him offering him a beer. "I mean, only if you want me to," she teased. "Honestly, I'm not some sex starved female wanting to get laid. I like to get to know the person I'm with. Are you okay with that? You don't mind not having sex, do you?"

"No, that's fine," Sam assured her, letting out the breath he was holding. He opened his beer and took a sip to wet his dry throat. He usually wasn't this nervous and jumpy around women, but Breeze was so confident and sure of herself. He hadn't met anyone like her before. He could feel her sitting close to him and wasn't sure what he should do. She was sending mixed signals and didn't know how to interpret them. He cocked an eyebrow when country music started playing from the car.

"I saw that," Breeze told him.

"What?"

"You don't like country music?"

"I don't know, I guess I just never listened to it growing up."

"Some of it is good. You really have to listen to the lyrics. I like the older stuff and musicians. My Grams said I was born with an old soul. Maybe she's right. Listen to this one. I like it."

Sam cocked his head and concentrated on the words.

'I know it's late, I know you're weary
And I know your plans don't include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
Longing for shelter from all that we see
Why should we worry, no one will care, girl
Look at the stars now so far away

We've got tonight
Who needs tomorrow?
We've got tonight, babe
Why don't you stay?...'

"Can you feel it?" Breeze asked.

'…Still here we are, both of us lonely
We've got tonight
Who needs tomorrow?
Let's make it last
Let's find a way
Turn out the light
Oh, oh, come take my hand now

We've got tonight, babe
Why don't we stay?
We've got tonight, babe
Why don't we stay?'

"I liked that," Sam commented when the song ended.

"This is nice," Breeze sighed sipping on her beer. "Check out the constellations, they're really bright tonight."

"It is nice. You like star gazing too?"

"I do. Have since I was a kid. So, how did your brother meet my sister?" Breeze questioned, her voice taking on a serious tone with the last sentence. "He's a sexy hunk and all, but what type of person is he?"

Sam was surprised by the questions and could hear the protectiveness in her voice for Storm.

"Shouldn't you be asking Storm these questions?"

"I could, but I want to hear your answers first. Sis is going to be a little bias when it comes to your brother."

"Well, Dean said he stopped at the bar one stormy night and Storm offered him the use of her spare room for the night. I guess they got to know each other, and one thing led to another and here we are. I can tell you for a fact that my brother is madly in love with Storm and she with him. They've had a few rough patches but that's not my story to tell. You'll have to talk to Storm about that. Dean is an honorable man and would never hurt Storm. My brother, he's brave, strong spirited, kind, generous; a person willing to help others, and I think he's the perfect guy for Storm. They complete each other. She has made him a better person and accepts his faults and doesn't try to change him."

"Good to know. What does he do? Job wise I mean."

"It's sort of a family business. We help others that need it," Sam replied trying to be vague since he didn't want to give her 'the Talk'. He wasn't sure Storm would want her to know.

"That's not suspicious at all," she noted eyeing Sam for a moment thinking there was something not being said here. She would have to question Storm later about it.

"What about you? How long did you serve?"

"I went in as soon as I graduated high school. Did two tours and decided to get out."

"So, what now? Any plans?"

"No, I'm going to stay with my Dad and brother and help out in the garage until I decide what's next for me."

"You're into cars too?"

"Yeah, I was raised around them and could take an engine apart by the time I was eight."

"You'll get alone fine with Dean. He's the car guy."

"And you're not?"

"No, I was always into books and computers."

"Pity, but I won't hold it against you. I was a computer nerd too." Breeze slid close enough to cuddle into Sam's side and lay her head on his shoulder.

Sam tensed for a moment but started relaxing when Breeze didn't make any further advances toward him. He was actually starting to enjoy himself now. Carefully, Sam slipped his arm under her shoulders and let her head rest on his chest.

"Sammy, can I kiss you?" Breeze asked a little later when she felt Sam seemed comfortable with her and not so stiff and scared.

Sam looked down at her as she turned her face to look at him. He didn't answer, instead, pulled her higher so they were face to face. He lowered his head and brushed her lips with his own in a light kiss, testing the waters. She reached up to cup his face and found his lips, kissing him passionately.

"Damn, you do know how to kiss," Breeze cooed when they finally came up for air.

"You're not so bad yourself," Sam mumbled brushing her hair back from her face. He kissed her again, tasting the tartness of the beer on her lips. "We really should be heading back, it's getting late and I'm sure Dean is wondering where we are."

"I know," she sighed. "This was fun, and I hope I didn't scare you off. I'm starting to like you." Breeze moved from the hood to stand by the car while Sam slipped off too. "I think Sis will have your brother preoccupied with something else."

"I don't scare that easily and you're probably right," he smiled and laughed softly. "Do you want to drive back?"

"Boy! Do I! You sure Dean's not going to have a cow if I drive?" she asked as Sam opened the driver's door and slipped in sliding across the seat.

"Maybe it'll be our secret," Sam suggested.

Breeze dropped into the seat and adjusted it forward a bit making Sam grunt as his knees hit the dash. He adjusted his body so he wouldn't feel so cramped and handed her the keys.

"Hello Baby, you don't know me, but I think you're hot and hope you don't mind me driving you," Breeze cooed to the Impala as she ran a hand over the wheel. Carefully, she cranked her and listened to the engine catch and settle into a steady purr. "That's it love, you sound amazing."

Sam couldn't help but smile at Breeze talking to the car just like Dean. It seemed she had the same passion as he did when it came to cars. Breeze backed up and drove slowly over the dirt road heading back down the mountain. She was watchful of the gravel, not wanting to ding the sides of the car, getting a feeling Dean wouldn't be too happy.

When she pulled onto the paved road, Breeze gave the Impala more gas and the car shot down the road picking up speed. Sam's breath caught for a moment as he was pressed back into the seat. He looked over at Breeze and saw the look of sheer delight on her face as she sped toward the bar. She slowed when the bar came into sight and turned into the parking lot and continued around the building to park under the carport.

"If you're staying here tonight, you can have the bedroom and I'll sleep on the couch," Sam offered as they got out.

"Why would you do that? Doesn't Sis still have a queen bed in the spare room?" Breeze questioned.

"Yes, but…"

"Hey, I don't mind sharing. Can't we sleep together and not have sex? Unless you're uncomfortable with it."

"No, but…"

"It's settled then. I'm sure Sis and Dean have already gone to bed. I hope you have keys."

"I do." Sam opened the backdoor and quickly shut the alarm off before it went off. After Breeze grabbed her pack from her car, she followed him inside and he locked the door and reset the alarm. They went upstairs and into the apartment trying to be quiet.

Dean raised his head when he heard soft whispers from the hallway and doors opening.

"The kiddies are home," he mumbled into Storm ear as he spooned her naked body. His hand absently gently rubbed over the scars on Storm's stomach.

"Okay," she replied sleepily. "They're adults and can take care of themselves."

"It'll be interesting to see if she got into Sam's pants or not."

"I know her, she didn't. Not on the first date anyway."

"Really? I got the feeling she was on the hunt."

"She may present that way, but it's not really her. Now go to sleep, I'm tired."

"I love you," he whispered kissing the side of her face while hugging her closer.

"Mmm…me too."

Dean settled on the pillow and laced his fingers in Storm's as he sighed with contentment. He listened to the hushed voices and heard the bathroom door open and close twice before hearing the bedroom door close. He didn't hear anything else as a quietness settled over the apartment. Dean wasn't sure what transpired between his brother and Storm's friend, but he guessed his little brother should have some privacy, maybe.

Sam saw Breeze had turned the bed down and left the small lamp on the nightstand on. She was already in bed and looked to him when he came in. He went to his bag and pulled a pair of light sleep pants out to change into. He left his T-shirt on and turned off the light before slipping under the covers.

"Are you okay Sammy?" Breeze asked him when he settled close to the edge of the bed.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Sam answered in clipped words.

"You know, if you don't move over, you're going to fall out of bed. It's okay, I wouldn't mind cuddling if you want to do that."

Sam drew in a short breath before easing over closer to Breeze and turned to let her snuggle in his arms. He could feel a stirring inside of him and fought it down. He couldn't help being attracted to her, but he was happy she wanted to take it slow and not dive headfirst into anything. He kissed the top of her head and caught a scent of flowers.

"You know, you're a puzzle that I'm going to solve," Breeze whispered as she traced circles on his chest.

"You think you have the key?"

"Maybe, maybe not, but I think it'll be fun trying to figure it out. I don't know where this might lead, if anywhere, but I'd like to give it a shot. That is if you want to..."

"You are a surprising, unpredictable, and exciting woman…And yeah, I think I'd like to know you better."

"Good, I'm going to sleep now, nite my gentle giant," Breeze yawned as she wiggled for a moment before settling on his chest.

"Sweet dreams," Sam whispered as he closed his eyes and cleared his mind. He had to admit, it felt good having a warm body in bed with him. Breeze was right, there was more to a relationship than sex, and he wondered where this one might go. There hadn't been anyone else for him since Jessica had died because he still mourned her. Could this be someone that he could develop feelings for? He drifted away on a sea of clouds as he dreamed of Breeze.
