The Dance
Lucas was feeling a little tense since the bachelor party. He had told Elizabeth he was not bothered by the hand holding game, but honestly it had made him a little on edge. He had kept thinking about Nathan rubbing her hands with his thumbs and he needed to put that thought to rest. Lucas and Elizabeth were sitting in the front row of the church listening as Joseph preached about patience. Lucas slowly reached his hand over and grabbing her right hand intertwined his fingers with hers. He was waiting for a reaction, but she did not pull away. He had to admit he was almost certain she would. It made him a little more at ease. He sat there at peace for the rest of the ceremony.
The reception was underway and Lucas had been in and out of the kitchen. Elizabeth had been mingling. She was completely uncomfortable when Carson asked to take a picture of her and Nathan together. Once the music started everyone began to dance. Lucas came out of the kitchen and spotted her over at the cake table. He walked up behind her and whispered in her ear.
"There is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen standing here by the cake table. Do you think she will dance with me?" he teased.
"I don't know I have a very handsome suitor and he may not approve." She said jokingly.
"I think I will take my chances." He spun her around and they began to dance.
Her head rested on his chest. Her right hand was intertwined with his and was resting on his chest as well. His other arm was wrapped around her waist. The whole room stopped to watch as they looked so completely comfortable with each other. It was hard to say how long they danced like that.
Lucas whispered in her ear, "I am the luckiest man in the world right now. Your beauty compliments me. I am so happy to be here with you Elizabeth!"
"How do you always know just what to say to melt my heart?" She whispered.
"I guess it is because I am completely in love with the most amazing woman and it comes so easy!"
They pulled back slightly and gazed right into each others eyes, losing themselves. At that moment they forgot where they were and who was watching. Lucas slowly slid his hand behind her neck and pulled her closer, leaning down he slowly brushed his lips with hers. Their hearts were racing and their minds were blank! They were mindless of the fact that the whole town was watching. One thing was for sure, they would always remember this dance!
