Chapter 1
{L.O.V HQ}
A man sat alone in a dark room his face hidden by shadows. The screen in front of him played the news from earlier that day.
He watched it impassively as Izuku Midoriya knocked out yet another one of his useless league members. Another ran at the hero and the man hummed in mild interest as a flash of blood red lightning ran through Izuku's green. The man picked up the remote and replayed the screen. He smirked as he concluded that the lighting had come from the hero.
He watched the fight finish, and the screen went black. He grinned and sat back in his chair. "I'd say" He laughed out in his cold voice to the empty room. "This will be interesting to watch"
{DEKU'S DORM ROOM}
Izuku Midoriya sat up in bed yawning. He turned to his alarm clock, the source of the annoying beeping. He stared at it for a moment. It read 8:05 am. The hero groaned. Oh lord, is that really the time?
He got out of his bed and poked his head out of his door to see his dorm room mates up and ready. Tokoyami looked at him. " Oh- your up." He stated. "Sorry we didn't wake you. We did try, but you were out cold." Aoyama danced by as he was explaining. "You really had a fabulous sleep last night and- oh my- I just loveeee your hair Midoriya!" Deku smiled politely at the comment. "Thank you, Aoyama."
He turned to Tokoyami. "Thanks for trying to wake me." He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I guess I just had a rough night last night." Tokoyami nodded. " I'd get ready now if I were you. Its almost tome for school." Deku smiled and went back into his room sheepishly.
After a verry quick shower and speed running getting dressed, Deku was almost ready to go but missing his tie.
He ran around his dorm franticly searching with ten minutes until he was due. When he finally found the thing, he ran to his mirror slamming into the wall as he skid in his socks. He put his tie on hastily then looked to the mirror to fix it and nearly fell over from shock.
What happened to my hair!? From the tips of Midoriya's green hair up to the top of his bangs was white. He stared at it. Oh, oh my lord oh my lord oh my lord oh my lord. He repeated in his head clutching his hair. What am I going to do? Midoriya shook his head and rubbed his eyes.
"Okay there has to be something I can do to fix this." He reassured himself aloud. "Obviously, I have no time to dye it. I guess I could say I dyed it like that or get a hat…." He went on mumbling to himself until he heard a bang. "What was that?" he wondered aloud. Shit. I'm going to be late. Fuck it. I'll just say I got it dyed. He thought scrambling to pick up his bag and run to class to be on time.
{CLASS 1-A BASE CLASSROOM}
Midoriya walked into the classroom with 2 minutes to spare. Surprisingly Aizawa was not asleep in his sleeping bag as Midoriya was expecting.
"Midoriya, try to be a little quicker in the morning. I know its Monday, but you could at least get to bed early on Sundays." Aizawa said to him lazily when he came through the door.
" I'm sorry sensei! I promise to be on time" he reassured his teacher with a bow. Aizawa sighed. "Just sit down, problem child." Midoriya nodded and sat down in his seat beside Sero. "Morning Midoriya!" the other boy exclaimed. "Morning!" was Izuku's enthusiastic reply.
He turned to look in fount of him to where Katsuki Bakugo was sitting with a distant look on his face. "Morning Kacchan!" Usually, he got given out to or just ignored by the boy when he talked to him, but Bakugo gave Midoriya a small "Morning" and left it at that.
It was unusual and Izuku couldn't help but smile. He didn't say anything else to the angry boy because he suspected Bakugo hadn't meant to be so nice to him and was simply not paying attention.
Sero gave him a look and opened his mouth to say something but was cut of when Aizawa calling the class to attention. "Morning students." He said very un-enthusiastically. "Morning Sensei!" the class responded.
Aizawa picked up chalk from the board and turned to the students. "We are having a test next week and I just wanted to touch up on the subject." The classroom erupted in groans and shouts of protest and annoyance.
Izuku was among the five students not to react, Todoroki never showed much emotion anyway, Bakugo was still daydreaming and not concentrating on Aizawa at all, Ida was pulling notes from his bag and Momo had her hand up. Aizawa sighed. "Miss Yaoyorozu" The class silenced slightly as Momo asked. "Sir, which subject is the test on?" she asked politely. "Villain quirks and how to defend against them." Aizawa answered class erupting again with those words.
This time in even more annoyance. Izuku decided to wake Bakugo from his trance so the other didn't miss the catch up on the class. "Kacchan!" He whispered, shaking Bakugo's shoulder as to get his attention. "Huh- What do you want?" Katsuki whispered back, which had Izuku surprised again. Bakugo was being so nice to him today. He was worried. "Aizawa sensei is going through the subject we have a test on soon now, I don't want you to miss the revision, it can really help!" Midoriya replied with a smile.
Bakugo, turning slightly red simply blinked at Izuku not saying anything. Midoriya's smile faltered. "Uh-t-thanks Deku." Bakugo said flustered and hurriedly. "Bakugo, Midoriya, attention up here." Aizawa said almost amusingly. "Sorry sensei." Izuku apologised, Bakugo turning around.
"As I was saying." Aizawa continued. "Villainous quirks aren't always used by villains but most of the time they are. These quirks are often a little extreme and are more 'frightening' and more frequently what you could use to do 'villainous' things."
Some of his classmates who hadn't been before were frantically scribbling notes into their copies as Aizawa spoke. "For example-" he went on. "-we are not too sure but- A.F.O the number one villain and leader of the league of villains quirk is to steal others quirks for himself." The class was filed with distressed murmurs.
"That's horrible! Getting your quirk taken?" He recognised as Mina. "Imagine not having a quirk!" Yaoyorozu added. "That'd be awful!" Sero replied to her briskly. Bakugo glanced back at Izuku quickly with a sorrow full and worried look in his eyes that ran deep.
Midoriya repaid his glance with a pained smile. None of these people could ever understand what its like to not have a quirk. He thought. But maybe Kacchan does understand how hard it is. He chased. Maybe he did pay attention. Maybe he did care. Or maybe not.
Maybe he simply didn't want Izuku to breath a word of what he had done in middle school. Izuku had a feeling that wasn't the case though, as Katsuki's look was genuine sorrow for the boy and Midoriya could tell he regretted it. Really regretted it.
The class was still buzzing with comments on being quirkless and the blond in front of him snapped. "Oi extras! You do know that there are some people born without quirks and your complaining when you have one is disrespectful!" He huffed angrily and Izuku smiled in appreciation. "Well- err- thank you Bakugo." Aizawa declared. "As I was saying…"
{LUNCH}
Izuku sat at the table in the cafeteria. Uraraka was opposite him. Tsu beside her. Todoroki had sat beside him and was happily eating his soba. Ida was seated beside Tsu.
"That subject Aizawa is going over is certainly hard. I'm glad he is going over it." Uraraka cheerfully announced earning her nods from around the table. "I agree it definitely is one of the harder ones, don't you think so too Todoroki?" Ida questioned the boy in front of him.
"Not really." Was the half and half heroes response. Izuku drowned out there flustered questions and watched Bakugo as he sat staring at is food, friends messing around him. He hasn't eaten anything. Midoriya observed.
"What about you Midoriya." Todoroki asked him. Izuku teared his eyes from Bakugo to question his friend. "Hmm?" He hummed in question. "Yeah Deku! What do you think of the villain quirks class?" Uraraka asked him excitedly. Izuku shrugged. "it's okay- I guess" he said earning questioning looks. "Okay? It's like the hardest subject" Tsu commented. "I find it interesting." Izuku replied, this time just getting worried looks.
"Interesting? But its about bad quirks ad bad people?" she questioned. "Like A.F.O! He can steal other quirks, for himself so he can have power! And- imagine having no quirk!" she went on. "I agree with Midoriya." Todoroki declared abruptly, but calmy. Ida pushed his glasses up. "I could hardly call it interesting, it's a hard subject and about terrible things, but I have to respect your opinions." Uraraka nodded. "Yeah, I guess it is interesting if you look at it from a non-villain and heroes perspective" she stated smiling slightly.
"Midoriya tuned out the rest of the conversation looking back at Bakugo. The blond still sat silently his food untouched. Bakugo's eyes looked up to him as if he knew someone was watching.
He looked at Izuku, wonder and surprise in his eyes. Izuku tilted his head at him questioningly. Why does he look so surprised- His thoughts were cut off by Todoroki calling him. "Midoriya?" he asked. "mmhm" was Izuku's only reply. "I meant to ask- what happened to your hair?" Shoto questioned.
"Oh- yeah! I was wondering that too!" Uraraka said sheepishly. Izuku blinked at them surprised. Tsu and Ida nodded agreeingly. "I uh- got it dyed yesterday" Izuku responded quickly and panicky.
"Oh- but you were with us all day yesterday" Tsu observed. "Yes, I thought so too" Ida remarked. "Oh-! Umm it was late! Last night. Hehe" Midoriya said rubbing the back of his neck, smiling. "Oh- well, I like it!" Uraraka exclaimed. "Me too." Todoroki agreed. Izuku smiled a polite "Thanks"
{HERO TRAINING CLASS}
Izuku stood with the rest of the class outside on the training field. "Okay settle down everyone." Aizawa said to the bustling chatting students.
"Everyone pick a sparring partner were going to do some easy hand to hand combat training today." Aizawa explained. All around his class members were pairing up quickly so they could get a partner.
Izuku looked to his friends, Uraraka was paired with Todoroki, Tsu with Ida. He looked around for another partner but almost everyone was paired up. Everyone except Bakugo. How lucky. Midoriya thought walking over to Bakugo who was still looking off into the distance.
Somethings up today- he's really distracted? Izuku thought as he approached the other boy. "Emm- Kacchan? Would you like to partner with me?" Katsuki seemed to snap out of his daze. "Sure?" he stuttered. "What are we doing?" Midoriya smiled. He's still being nice to me. "We are doing some light combat training in pairs." The green haired boy explained. "Oh-okay."
{TIME SKIP}
"Remember, no using quirks. This is friendly combat." Aizawa declared as the class buzzed. It wasn't the best hero training class they had done but it was still training. "Yes, Aizawa sensei!" the class exclaimed.
"Okay Deku, let's go I guess." Bakugo uttered turning to Izuku. All around them students were in fighting stances, jabbing, and blocking. Izuku got into stance as Bakugo did.
Suddenly, a sharp cold voice rung in his head. Izuku. Midoriya stopped mid-punch earning him a surprised face from Bakugo. Then it rang again, louder this time. Izuku… Midoriya stood frozen.
What? Who- who are you? He had no response. "Hey! Deku are you okay?" It was Bakugo. Bakugo calling him. He noted he should have answered but his mouth was dry, so he just nodded his head.
"Are you sure? Do you need anything?" Katsuki asked worry still evident in his voice. Why is he being so nice to me? Izuku wondered. Because he cares about you Izuku. There was that voice again.
"Maybe just some water, please." Bakugo nodded and handed Izuku his water bottle. Izuku took a gulp thanking the boy afterwards. Katsuki just scowled. "You ready to get back to training?"
Bakugo asked him not looking at him. "Yeah" Midoriya said hesitantly. "Its okay if you need another minute." Bakugo said quickly. "No, it's okay!" Izuku smiled, flustering Katsuki. "Alright then."
{AFTER TRAINING}
"Okay everyone, trainings over." The class exhausted from their resent training. Some of the students thanked Aizawa on their way out but they only got unhappy looks in return.
Izuku sat up from the bench to join his friends but was stopped by a hand. "Hey, Deku. Are you okay now?" Katsuki asked from behind him. Izuku smiled. "I'm fine Kacchan, thank you for asking!"
Bakugo blushed. "And-I uh- really like your new hair." He commented. "I- thanks Kacchan" Izuku said flustered. "Deku! Are you coming!" It was Tsu.
His friends had gone ahead and were waiting for him. "One second!" he called back then turning back to Bakugo. "Sorry Kacchan, I promised my friends I would hang out with them after school to do homework." Izuku apologised. "Actually, do you want to join us? If you're not busy-?" Bakugo blinked at him. Izuku's broad smile wavering.
"I'm sorry, Deku, I promised the others I would go shopping with them." The blond replied. Izuku's smile fell. "That's okay. Maybe another time." Katsuki stared at the green haired boy beaming at him. "Yeah, next time." Izuku's friends call to him again.
"See you tomorrow then Kacchan!" Midoriya said running off towards his friends. "Bye..."
