Chapter 7: Oh Joy, The Police.
Nico's POV
"Put down the kid, and put your hands behind your head!" The lead officer yelled.
"Why?" I asked.
"Do it now, or we will use extreme force!" he yelled again.
"Alright, don't get your panties in a twist." I muttered. I shook Eri gently awake. "Hey, can you walk?" I asked.
"Yeah." She nodded. I set her down.
"Walk over to those nice police officers for me. Don't worry I'll be back. Okay?" I smiled at her.
"No! I don't want to leave you!" she said, clinging to my shirt.
"Please Eri. This is the only way. Do it for me, okay? I'll be right back." I half lied.
"Alright," she sniffed. "Just come back quickly, okay?"
"Of course. I'll come back as soon as I can." I promised, patting her on the head.
Eri slowly walked towards the police force. One of them reached down and picked her up.
"Alright! Hands up villain!" the lead officer yelled again.
"Jeez, I'm doing it." I muttered, placing my hands on my head. One officer walked over and cuffed my hands, thankfully in the front.
"Come on," he said, and grabbed me under the arm. "We're taking you to interrogation."
"Lead the way." I told him, gesturing as best I could with handcuffed hands.
I was led away past the small girl who had eyes full of tears.
"Don't cry little one. Be strong for me, okay?" I said, giving her a half smile as I was led by.
"Please come back Nico!" she yelled at my retreating form. My heart clenched, but I wasn't going to do anything. Actions had consequences. If I was to rebel now, they'd never let me near Eri again. I let myself be led away into the depth of the police station. Apparently, they'd stopped off here just to get me. So nice of them.
"In here." The officer opened a door. I walked through it to see a very boring room. Nothing in it but two chairs and a table.
"Have a seat." The man pulled my chair out for me. I sat, and he locked my hands to a ring on the table. Then, he left. I was now alone in the room. I took a moment to really look around. Two cameras. One behind me, and one to my left. There was a window, but it was one way. Too bad they didn't know that I could see through the shadows. The handcuffs I'd been locked in were obviously quirk prohibitors, but it didn't affect me. I leaned back in my chair, and waited.
Maybe half an hour later the door opened. A woman walked in. she had blue hair, and red glasses.
"Hello Mr. di Angelo." She said, sitting at the table.
"Hello ma'am." I replied formally. "Normally, I would kiss your hand but I'm a little tied up at the moment." I said with a half smirk. She didn't react or even acknowledge my comment.
"Now, I like to get straight to business." She placed her tented hands on the table.
"That might be kind of hard for me to do ma'am." I replied, a ghost of a smirk lingering on my mouth.
"Why is that, Mr. di Angelo?" she questioned.
"I'm gay ma'am." I replied. She leaned back.
"Ok then, that makes your earlier comment less annoying." She decided.
"So, down to business?" I asked, holding my hands together.
"What is your relation to the League of Villains?" she asked. Wow, she doesn't waste any time.
"I know them on a personal level." I stated truthfully.
"Are you a member?" she inquired.
"No, I am not a member." I stated, only twisting the truth a little.
"What activities or knowledge are you privy to?"
"I go to all the meetings, and know all their plans." I responded.
"And you are not a member?" she stated, a look of disbelief on her face.
"No ma'am, I'm not a member." I replied.
"What is your role then?!" she exclaimed, annoyed now.
"I'm the co-leader." I answered, a slight smirk on my face. She instantly sobered.
"The what?" she asked, incredulously.
"The co-leader ma'am. As in I get major pull in what decisions we make as a group, and who gets to join." I said simply.
"Interesting. What is your next target?" she questioned, writing furiously in her notebook.
"We do not have one as of this minute. The last one we had was Kai Chisaki, leader of the Shie Hassaikai. You might know him as Overhaul." I told her. Her eyes went wide.
"But, were you not working with him?" she asked.
"I was, but only as a spy. My only goal was to keep Eri safe." I yawned.
"Are you sleepy?" she asked.
"A bit. Not too much though. We can continue if that's better for you." I answered.
"All right then. What is the full extent of your powers?" she asked, reading off her paper.
"I can't tell you that ma'am." I stated.
"Why?"
"I don't know myself ma'am." I told her.
"Well, tell me all you know then." She demanded.
"Hmm, let's see. You know that big prison you guys have? Please don't say the name. Well, if you were to lock me in that in all the quirk suppressers in the entire world, I could still escape, and kill you all in the process." I stated completely emotionless. Her face lost all the color it had left.
"If that was the case, what's keeping you from escaping and killing me right now?" she asked, trembling slightly.
"Eri. I promised her that I wasn't going to leave her. And, if after you're done questioning me, you let me go back to her you won't have to find out just how strong I am." I stated. Her body language was pure fear.
"What if we were to not let you go?" she asked slowly, as if afraid of the answer.
"Well, in that case, I'd let myself go." I smiled, and unlocked my handcuffs. They clattered to the table. I rubbed my wrists. "So, any more questions you have for me?" I asked, crossing my arms over my middle.
"I, uh, yeah." She took a moment and regained her composure. "Where are you from?"
"I don't know. I don't remember. I've never really had anywhere that I'd call my home so nowhere I guess." I cocked my head to the side.
"Alright, do you have any family?" she asked. Hmm, should I tell her? Why not.
"Yes." I replied simply. If she wanted more info she'd have to ask.
"And who would that be?" she asked, annoyed again.
"Well, I've got my boyfriend and my child." I replied. She blinked.
"Your…Child?" she looked at me in unbelief.
"Yes. My child." I replied, locking eyes with her.
"Alright, I'll bite. Who and where is this kid, and how old?" she held eye contact.
"Well, who I couldn't tell you if I wanted to. Where; well, they're right here in this room with us, and roughly 7 months prenatal." I smiled, as her eyes flicked down to my stomach.
"Are you pulling my leg?! I don't appreciate the joke." She glared at me. I sighed.
"Come here then." I said, gesturing her over. She hesitantly got up. "Give me your hand." I held up my own. She cautiously placed her manicured hand in mine. I put her hand under my shirt on my stomach.
"Is, is that a heartbeat?" she asked incredulous.
"Yes. That's a heartbeat." I pulled her hand off, and crossed my arms. "Believe me now?" I asked.
"Yes, I do. Can I get you anything? One parent to another." She asked, looking genuinely concerned for me.
"Not at this time, thanks though. Oh, do you know any good remedies for back pain? My back fucking hurts." I said, stretching a little.
"Yes, I'll have them bring you some, and I'll get you a doctor to check you over. The fight couldn't have been good for the little one." She smiled. Huh. Guess being pregnant gives you some leeway with the female police.
"Alright, any more questions for me?" I asked, placing my hand comfortably on my stomach.
"Who's the other parent?" she asked, sitting on the edge of the table.
"Tomura Shigaraki." I answered. She flinched slightly.
"The leader of the League of Villains?" she confirmed.
"Yes. My boyfriend, and fellow leader." I smiled at her. She processed this information for a minute before asking;
"Were you forced into this? Because we have people that-" I cut her off
"No. I am dating him of my own free will. I can leave at any time I please. Of course, that would be dumb on my part since I really don't want to be a single parent." I lazily played with my shoulder length hair.
"You're not being forced at all? Are you sure? Often times you won't realize it. Maybe he told you he'd hurt you or someone you loved?" she questioned. I sighed, and looked her in the eyes.
"No. I started the relationship, and I am very happy in it. Thank you for trying to be helpful, but I am happy. Please stop before you make me mad. I can't control my emotions right now." I held eye contact for a moment longer before she looked away.
"Alright. You do realize that he is 24, and you are 16. That is considered statuary rape. Whether or not it is consensual." She stated.
"Oh yeah, I know. You can add that to Tomura's murder, arson, terrorism, and B+E." I rolled my eyes. "We're villains ma'am, I don't think we care about age rules."
"I understand. Well, that's all the questions I have for you at the moment. I'll get a doctor, and see if I can get you something more comfortable to sit on." She left the room, the door slammed shut behind her. I sighed, and rubbed my stomach. The fluttering heartbeat of my child always seemed to soothe me.
A few minutes later, the door opened again. A man in a white coat walked in, he had a stethoscope around his neck. A doctor then.
"Hello." I said, looking him over. He seemed mildly surprised that I wasn't handcuffed.
"Hello Mr. di Angelo. I am told you might be injured?" he said, standing far too close to me for my comfort.
"Yeah, but not me; my child. I think the nice police lady was worried." I stood up, and leaned against the table.
"Your child Sir?" the doctor looked at my stomach skeptically.
"Yes. Whether or not you believe me, I'm two and some months pregnant." I sighed. Damn their skepticism. Why should I have to prove myself? Hmm? Pregnant women never had to prove themselves! It was just; 'hey, I'm pregnant' and everyone just accepted that. The doctor seemed to pick up on my mood.
"Sorry Sir. It's just not every day one gets to see a male pregnancy." He placated. I nodded.
"Yeah. Bit of a shock for me too." This comment seemed to interest him.
"Wait, you didn't know you could be impregnated?" he questioned.
"Nope. Found out when I started puking every day at exactly ten." I half smiled. "Not the most fun experience."
"I see. Would you mind removing your shirt? I'd like to check on the little one if that's alright." He requested. Well, one the one hand; Scars. On the other; my child might be hurt.
"Yeah, okay." I grabbed the hem of my long-sleeved shirt, and tugged it off my wings. All the scars on my torso and arms were now plain to see under the bright lights. The doctor didn't stare too much, and pulled his stethoscope off. He put it against my still very flat stomach, and listened.
"Well, the heartbeat is nice and strong." He affirmed. "Any problems in your own health lately?" I looked at my wrists, and the scars on them.
"Nope." I lied.
"Please don't lie. My question included mental health." The doctor looked pointedly at my arms. I ran a hand through my hair.
"Not really. That's a normal thing." I stated, not looking him in the eyes.
"Sir, Nico." The use of my first made me look. "When did you do this?" he asked, holding my arm. I sighed.
"Let's see. Just before Shigaraki and I started dating. We've been dating for hmm let's see, three months now? Yeah, that sounds right. So about three months ago." I said, rubbing the raised scars.
"Alright. Please keep yourself healthy, for the little one's sake." The doctor left. I sat in the corner and sighed, my hand snagged on a knot in my hair. Time to cut it then.
"Guess that's it then." I muttered, tugging my shirt back over my wings. The nice female police officer came back in.
"You have been cleared to leave the interrogation room. After a little processing and if you promise to behave you should be with Eri again shortly." She smiled at me. I nodded.
"Yes ma'am." I followed her out of the room and around a few turns. We made our way to a cell. There was no one else there.
"Wait here. It shouldn't take more than an hour to get you through the system." She left locking the cell behind her. I laid down on the rather uncomfortable bed and waited.
Two hours later I was starting to get agitated. Where was she? Hadn't she said it would only take an hour? This was ludicrous.
After yet another hour I starting pacing. This was infuriating. If she had been lying, I was about to kill some bastards.
It had now been five hours since she was supposed to be back. I had been here for six hours, and was slowly losing control over my rage. I couldn't stop replaying Eri's terrified face in my mind. If I wasn't let out soon; I was going to let myself out.
Half an hour later I was about to blow my cell up when an officer showed up.
"Sorry for the long wait, there was a debate over some things. They've come to a conclusion. If you'll follow me you can go to hear their verdict." He unlocked the cell and led me into yet another part of the police station. He opened a large door, and motioned inside.
10 faces stared at me as I entered. I recognized most of them. Endeavor, Aizawa, Mic, Nezu, and the police chief I'd made a fool of all that time ago. Some other pros were here as well. Edgeshot, and Kamui Woods were the most notable. Three others I didn't know the names of sat there too.
"Oh, hi Sensei." I completely ignored the rest of the adults. None of them had earned my respect like Aizawa had.
"Mr. Nico di Angelo," The police chief began. I didn't turn to look. "Ahem, it was made known to us by Mr. Aizawa that normal quirk restraints don't work on you. In light of this news, it is far too risky to let you anywhere near Eri." He stated. At this I turned to him a fire in my eyes.
"In that case, what is keeping me from killing all of you right now, and taking her by force?" I asked, looking over all their faces.
"Nothing." Aizawa stated, drawing my attention back to him. "That's why we've decided to take the risk anyway and let you have your way. However, there are a few measures that will be put in place. One is that you will have to wear a tracking bracelet at all times."
"What are the other measures?" I asked, crossing my arms. Aizawa sighed.
"You will be under guard 24/7, you are not to be in a room alone with anyone, and you must obey everything the heroes tell you to do. However, the requests must be within reason. They can't tell you to jump off a cliff, or harm yourself or your child." He stated. I thought it over.
"Your measures seem to be within reason. However, I have one thing that I will not budge on."
"What is it?" Mic asked.
"I will not take orders from him." I pointed at Endeavor. The pro flared.
"How dare you!" he roared. I snapped and the shadows covered his mouth. Instantly all the heroes in the room got to their feet.
"Chill, I'm just shutting him up." I rolled my eyes. I dropped my hand and the shadows receded. I locked my eyes with Endeavor so he could see the murderous intent they harbored. "I refuse to take orders from this farce of a man." I stated coldly. Endeavor broke eye contact.
"The other measure was that you are not to use your quirk unless necessary." Aizawa sighed. I bowed.
"Sorry Sensei." I apologized. I straightened my back, and looked at the people in the room with disdain.
"Can I go see Eri now?" I asked, glaring at the police chief.
"Uh, once you put on the tracking bracelet, I have a guard waiting to escort you to Eri's hospital room." He stated.
"Alright. Put it on then."
Eraserhead stood, and walked over to me.
"Do you have a preferred arm?" he asked.
"My right if you don't mind." I held out my arm. He took a strange looking bracelet out, and clipped it to my right wrist. A small light blinked twice red, and then turned green.
"It's active." He stated, returning to his seat. Mic opened a computer, and showed the room that a small blinking dot was visible. Hmm. Could I fuck with the device? I looked at it, and silently coated my hand in shadows. The computer missed a beat. I released control, and the blinking light came back. I almost laughed. I could literally just delete myself off their map whenever I wanted.
"So, just for asking's sake; how would you know if I took it off?" I asked.
"It tracks your pulse. If your pulse stops, the tracker will start beeping." The police chief stated.
"Really?" I asked, and slipped it off by putting my hand through the shadows. I now held the bracelet in my left hand. Sure enough, it started making a gods-awful noise.
"Gods! You really don't want me to take this off!" I put it back on. All ten of them seemed surprised that I was able to take it off. Well, all of them except Aizawa.
"Great. So, keep it on." Aizawa stated.
"Fine." I sighed. "Can I go now?"
End of chapter 7.
