Hello dear friends, I've decided to try my own hand at this after leaving this on the site for so long. Please do let me know what you think about this. Full disclaimer: I own nothing but the clothes on my back, an old PS4 and a bookcase of useless books.

If asked, any shinobi will tell you the story of the progenitor of all chakra, the story of the Rikudo Sennin, the sage of the six paths, and of how he and his brother defeated the great rabbit goddess and created ninjutsu as they now understand it. However, when asked about any events before that, they will simply draw a blank and tell you to stop bothering them. To the shinobi world, there only exist two eras, the age of Chakra and the Great nothing. Unbeknownst to them, their world which had at one point been called the Earth had been host to magnificent civilizations and technologies that they would never understand. During this era, men and women from all walks of life could communicate across one end of the planet to another and wars were fought on scales that even shinobis would regard as disproportionate. During this time, some humans were born with traits that would place them above the run of the mil human. From super intelligence to immortality, some of these special people used their gifts to advance themselves in ways detrimental to the rest of humanity. And to protect the masses from those abusing their gifts, champions arose and defended the Earth and humanity time and time again from gods, monsters and humans themselves. Together, these heroes banded together to become the Justice League, a collective of heroes from around the world and time dedicated to protecting the world until the end.

Billy, or Captain Marvel as he was known, threw a punch at the nearest parademon's head exploding it directly on impact before zooming to the next one and throwing the strongest blast of lightning he could. Stopping to take a breather, he observed the chaos around him as the world's heroes and villains fought side by side to end the threats coming from Apokolips. Already he saw that some of his comrades had fallen to the hellish beasts: Zatanna, Black Canary, Kid Flash, and Blue Beetle were just a few amongst the casualties. Seeing more of his friends dead, he rushed to their bodies to pick specific objects. From Zatanna, her hat; Canary, her chocker; Kid Flash, his googles; and Blue Beetle's scarab. Although the task disgusted him, he had seen the wisdom in the wizard's suggestion of creating a failsafe. And so, these objects joined a litany of other mementos from the league, some taken from the dead here on Earth and others given by members of the strike team that went to Apokolips to take the fight to Darkseid himself.

When the forces of Apokolips showed sign of movement, the Justice League had created a plan to take care of the menace once and for all. They would send a team on Apokolips to end the menace while another team would be left on Earth to protect it from the invading forces and any other that would look to take advantage of a weakened Earth. However, in the event of failure of both sides of the plan, the wizard Mamaragan had given Billy the task to pick mementos of some of the heroes of the league for reasons he had not deigned tell him at the time, though the young man had an idea as to why. By sending some of their heavy hitters on Apokolips to take down the tyrant, they had hoped to stop him in his track, but all it did was release the monsters he had kept at bay from unleashing unholy hell upon the Earth in the form of raging parademons and paradooms. After months of fighting, Humanity was forced to dig into mountain and underground shelters to survive whilst heroes and former villains fought to reclaim the Earth from the monsters that roamed the surface.

Ten years after the release if the monsters onto the Earth, few heroes and even fewer villains still stood to defend the Earth. Now being the mightiest hero left, Captain Marvel, who had long since given up on his old name, stood fatigued of the fight on one leg, the other being an electricity construct. In front of him stood his former nemesis, Black Adam, and in between them was the wizard who'd once given him his powers. They flew above the ocean that had swallowed a great majority of the Earth after Batman's last-ditch attempt at protecting the Earth completely tore through the moon as an energy shield cut through it in order to stave off other invasions before his death at the end of a mad clown.

"It Is the only way," the wizard stated in a wise voice, "only us three can do this,"

"I will accept what need be done old man," Adam said impatiently, "but do not think I do it because I want to," he looked towards Batson, "you will take care of them correct?"

All the younger man could do was nod his head at the demand of the king.

"Good then," he responded, "Let us do it now."

And then, as one, three voices screamed the name of the wizard, the name that had created the mightiest of the mortals, the name that for millennia had become synonymous with Justice and peace, they yelled:

"SHAZAM"

Suddenly the storms stopped, and the world exploded in a white light destroying any and all non-earthling creatures and set in motion the great cataclysm that ended the world of heroes and ushered in a new era: the era of the shinobi.

Naruto did not live what most would consider to be a good life. It wasn't necessarily a bad life, just not a good one. From where he sat on the bench, he looked around at the various villagers and families enjoying a nice day at the park. Everyone he looked at made a point to look anywhere but at him. For as long as he had been able to remember, a great majority of the village seemed to believe that by ignoring him he would simply disappear into some form of nether. The belief ran strongly as out of the thousands of people living in Konoha, the amount of people Naruto had regular contact over his 8 years of life could a fraction of the total populace, and out of those, the ones with whom he'd had good interactions could be counted on both his hands. And maybe a toe. Anyhow, if ignoring his existence made them sleep better, the young boy could live with that. After all it could always be worse. They could have hunted him or beaten him or even worse on daily basis, but they did not. And yes, some may say that the lack of interaction could potentially stunt his social growth, but to them Naruto said screw that, ain't nobody got time for that. All in all, life was ok, he had some people he liked, and he would start training in a few weeks.

"Naruto," the old voice shook him from his thoughts, "what did I tell you about being lost in your own head?"

Sheepishly the blond boy closed his bright blue eyes and offered a slightly embarrassed grin to the hokage "Not to?"

The elderly man sighed before giving the young boy an amused smile, "At least, we know that no Yamanaka could ever beat you," he told the boy as he sat next to him, "so, what have I missed today?"

At the question, the young man, who seemed ecstatic to tell his surrogate grandpa about his finds pointed towards a young lovesick couple in the distance, "Shinichi is still trying to find the right moment to propose to Maya, but she seems to be sabotaging every attempt so far."

"Ah, young love"

He pointed towards an older gentleman calmy reading a newspaper, "Kinemon is trying to fool everyone but he's actually reading the new icha icha book in that newspaper."

"And how do you know that?" the hokage asked.

"Well, he's been stuck on the same page for about an hour," was the answer, "yet he seems to be moving the pages of something inside his paper."

"And how do you know it's the icha icha series and not another book?"

"Well," at that point he looked towards a beautiful young woman with striking red eyes openly glaring at the reading man, "she's been glaring at him like that for a while now and he also makes that creepy giggle you make when you read – "

"Enough of that now my boy," the hokage interrupted him before he could finish, "Anything else happened?"

The boy looked at him crossed at being interrupted but he answered anyways, "Nothing major, just regular park stuff."

The hokage nodded, stood up, and signaled for the young man to follow suit which he eagerly did before grabbing the older man's hands as they made their way out of the park. Together, they walked to an odd little ramen shop on the side of the road. As they approached the restaurant, strong smells hit the pair making the mouth of the younger man to salivate and his stomach rumbled. The old man gave him a look.

"I forgot to eat this morning"

"Nanako will be saddened to hear that you threw her carefully prepped breakfast away."

At that Naruto's eyes widen and he sent a pleading look towards the older man. He didn't want the Hokage's daughter-in-law to be sad. She had been the one that took care of him until he was forced to move out of the Sarutobi compound and moved to a small apartment adjacent to it. Following the move, she still visited him all the time and cooked three balanced meals a day as well as some snacks. Recently though, he had seen less of her as she recently gave birth to a little boy with the strangest of names, not that he'd tell her that.

"Konohamaru is a weird name," he had no qualms about the old man as he knew he was the one that pushed for the name.

With a roll of his eyes, the Hokage parted the curtains of the shop and ordered for the both of them.

Finally back at his apartment after having spent the rest of the day with the hokage, Naruto was about to go to bed when he heard it. Someone had called his name. It wasn't the first time today. At first it came as a whisper, barely audible, as such he ignored it at the time. Then the voice came once every thirty minutes, each time getting slightly stronger, yet he still ignored it. And now, the voice was nonstop and as loud as the marketplace during peak traffic time. Casting his better judgment aside to possibly get a wink of sleep, Naruto decided to follow the strange and disembodied voice.

Getting out of the apartment in his cargo shorts and a red hoodie to combat the cold air, Naruto followed the now booming voice wondering how only he could hear it. Nevertheless, he continued until he found the source of the voice.

"No way I'm going in the sewers" he stated blankly while staring at a manhole cover.

As if to retaliate, the voice boomed louder than thunder "COME TO ME"

Letting out a sigh, the child once again decided to go against his better judgment and solve this mystery once and for all. Lifting the manhole cover, which was lighter than it had any rights to be, Naruto descended the ladder that led to the bowels of Konoha. However, once he reached all the way down, he realized two things: 1) he definitely forgot to close the manhole, and someone was bound to fall and 2) this was not the sewers. Instead, he found himself in a large throne room with all manners of artefacts and weapons inn glass cases dotting the walls as well as large banners displaying symbols and insignias he had never seen in his life. Walking down the solitary path, he headed towards the giant lightning marked throne and the larger-than-life person that sat on it.

Getting closer, he could make out the long white hair and beard that covered a once strong chin, the faded red suit he wore had a lightning bolt in the middle of it and glowed like a continuous flash of lightning, in his hand rested a scepter topped with a ball of electricity, with the substance arcing around the staff. The old man saw him approaching and his smile got wider and wider with each step until he stopped a short distance from the throne.

"Alright old man, I'm here. What do you want now?"

"Simple kid, I want you to become my heir and take the mantle of Shazam."

Thank you for reading until here. I have decided that the challenge stood there for quite some time and since my grasp of the English language became stronger, I chose to take it up myself and see where this goes. Updates will probably be sporadic, so don't get too excited. I'd love to have a schedule, but I kind of just write as things come to me. So, right now I'm willing to take some suggestions about something that is bothering me. I had originally, 7 years ago planned on having the kids become the same heroes of the justice league, but now I find myself wondering if I should jus make them brand new heroes instead and form a new version of the league. I find that both ideas have merit, but I don't know which path is best path. Also if anyone is interested by the premise and would like to work with it, please PM me.would like to work with it, please PM me./span/strong/p
