A/N Hey everyone, I know, I know, I suck at updating. I'm Sorry, I have this stupid thing called writers block and I cant seem to get past it. So, I'm going to work on this story until I can. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I DON'T OWN ANY OF IT, this was inspired by Ebenbild's "Granger Relations" go read that, I really enjoyed it. Now on to the story, enjoy!

The Best Kept Secret

"Detention!" Umbridge screeched triumphantly. It was the end of DADA class on Thursday, it was the last class of the day because Hagrid canceled COMC so he could find a new creature for them to study. Hermione blanches, 'I've never gotten a detention before, of course my first one had to be with Umbitch'

"Yes, Professor Umbridge," Hermione dutifully replies, "When would you like me here?"

"...After break, I'll be busy until then," Umbridge answers.

"Of course, Professor," Hermoine smiles and walks out barely containing a sneer. She smiles at Harry and Ron, almost growling at the latter. Hermione manages to keep her facade of calm and composed for the rest of the day.

In The Gryffindor Dorms (MIDNIGHT)

Hermione peeks out from her bed through her curtains, seeing that all of her dorm mates are asleep and unaware, she sneaks out, leaving her dorm and going down to the common room, sneaking through the portrait hole. After walking around for a while Hermione finds herself on the seventh floor by the portrait of Barnabus the Barmy teaching trolls ballet; pacing in front of the blank wall across from it. Opening the door that appeared she finds herself in a room with racks of different types of weapons, and training things for each of the weapons. Grabbing a sword Hermione walks over to a dummy and starts sparring with it…

Gryffindor Common Room (6:00am)

Hermione and Harry are waiting for Ron to come down the stairs so they can walk to breakfast together. "Do we HAVE to wait for him, Hermione?" Harry almost whines, "I've had enough of that traitor to last me a lifetime."

"Yes Harry, I know you don't like it, I don't either but we do need to keep up appearances if we want to keep the amount of freedom Dumbledore lets us have; no matter how little it is," she whispers back.

"Your right," Harry acquiesces.

"We only have a few more days until break, then I can go home and The Weasel will as well."

"Yeah, okay, I'll survive."

"Good, because here he comes" Ron comes thumping down the stairs a complete mess, his tie loose, his buttons unaligned, his hair unbrushed and his shoes on the wrong feet. The only female in the 'Golden Trio' barely manages to stop a sneer from showing, compromising by just wrinkling her nose instead. "Let's get going down to breakfast," she settles on saying instead of all the insults running through her brain.

At The Granger Residence

The rest of the days before break flew by for Hermione, the next thing she knows is that she is walking into her house and being bear-hugged by her dad. Once she is finally released from the hug, she goes upstairs, walks into her room, takes off her backpack and puts it on her desk. She walks downstairs and into the living room, she sees her parents on the couch with one of her brothers. Said brother stands up and walks over to Hermione, picks her up and hugs her tightly. "Mycroft? What's wrong? What happened?" Hermione asks rapidly.

Putting her down, Mycroft gives her a tight smile, "Can't a brother want to see his sister, after not seeing her for months on end?"

"Of course you can, but you picked me up to hug me, and your muscles are very tense, you also look like you are about to give some upsetting news. Mummy and Daddy have been straining to keep up facades of 'everything is perfect.' So, what happened?" Hermione states matter-of-factly.

"You always were too observant for your own good," Mycroft smiles. In response Hermione raises an eyebrow with an unamused expression. "Fine, it's that… that… toad in your school. That has all that power," Mycroft finally sighs and puts her down.

"What about her?"

"When you go back, be very careful around her, okay? I need you to promise me you will do your best to not get detention with her, or even anger her." Hermione gives a solemn nod in response. "There have been rumors of fudge making that toad as close to headmistress as he can get without actually making it so."

"What do you mean?"

"Fudge doesn't want to admit that Voldemort is back and he is making sure that no-one believes Dumbledore or Harry Potter. He knows that he will lose all respect and power that he has if he admits His return. So by giving Umbridge the power to do anything to Hogwarts and its students, he makes sure that no one will believe them that Voldemort is back."

"Oh…" Hermione breathes in realization. "I'm going to go up to my room, I want to get my homework out of the way. It's good to see you again, Mycroft."

"Goodbye Hermione" Mycroft replies and gives her one last hug before watching her go upstairs. He turns to his mother, "I think that it's time the ministry learns not to mess with Hermione Granger or her family." He gives her a hug and walks out. Once he is in the car, he tells the driver to take the to the office. Then he picks up the phone, "Hello Ant.."
