"Lucifer, don't...make me hurt you," Chloe almost snarls, eyes full of anger as the blade's influence slowly consumes her grasp on self-control. But the Devil couldn't let Azrael's blade leave the penthouse, or the consequences will be dire.

He tries to take it from her hands, but she maneuvers and grabs it back. So he ends up wounding both his arms around her to take that blasted thing away, and he succeeds in prying it off her hands.

Lucifer thinks it's all over — removing it from Daniel's hands before had been enough — but Chloe elbows him right to the face, followed by a backhand that sends him in a slight daze. Chloe thinks it's not enough, so she grabs him by his shirt and headbutts him. On instinct, he pushes her off of him just enough to send her a good few meters away. This still doesn't wake the former Detective up from her murderous rage, and the next thing he knows, he's being swept off his feet quite literally. She stops short of plunging that tip right into his heart.

"I certainly did not see this coming," He mutters, out of breath.

That exact phrase was what Uriel said to him right before he passed.

"Guess that means we solved our case? This must be how I die," And just as he says the word, the knife comes down right into his heart.

Lucifer manages to suppress his pained scream as he feels his vision swimming. He has to get the words out.

"It's not your fault, Chloe. It's the blade,"

The blonde finally snaps out of her trance or fixation or whatever to see the mess. The blood is pooling and seeping on that carpet as she tries to staunch it after removing the weapon from his chest.

"No, no, no. No. no!" Chloe doesn't know what to do. All that first aid training went to shit because of her nerves, and the guilt, and then…

"So, that's why you couldn't tell me why he left?"

Rory says in horror.

"It's not her fault. Please, Rory." He pleads, but the blood is filling his lungs, and everything is fading.

Rory steps back as Chloe tries to come near her, and then suddenly, a blue light swirl around her, signaling the end of her journey to the truth.

Lucifer breathes his last as Aurora Morningstar disappears, and Chloe is left wailing as Amenadiel arrives to see his fallen brother.

Author's Note:

Okay, okay! Don't hate me! XD (but you're welcome to yell at me here or at Twitter asakuranna).

This is a what-if kind of thing. I have a few drabbles on the way so that I can cope with the anguish that the parting of Deckerstar before their eternal reunion, brought me.

As mentioned in my previous story, I like how it ended, but the journey towards it, the angst and pain of Deckerstar's separation was just too much and unnecessary. But that's just me.
