Chloe is genuinely pissed at Lucifer for going ballistic towards their grown daughter that she follows Rory out. But of course, she doesn't catch up with her because… wings.

The Detective thinks Rory might head to the apartment, so she goes there instead while Lucifer goes back to the penthouse.

When the elevator door opens, he immediately spots Rory by the piano, drumming her fingers. He takes a breath and exhales, ready to apologize, and he begins with,

"Rory, I am so sorry, I shouldn't have…."

But he's cut off when the young angel comes at him with Azrael's blade. He barely dodges, and he's slashed on his forearm.

"I knew it. You did steal the blade."

"So what if I did? This...thing...this weapon, it's whispering to me."

"I suppose it's because you're half human that you are being persuaded by that steel to do, well, stabby things. You must not give in, Rory. I know you don't want to kill me."

"But I do! Mom suffered. I suffered. Even T, suffered. All because of you. You need to die."

Having been taught by Maze how to fight, she goes all out, but Lucifer doesn't want to fight her, so he dodges and parries and takes the blow.

"You need to stop, Rory!" The devil pleads again, but she couldn't hear past the ringing in her ears, the insistent whispering of kill, kill, kill. Her father blocks again, but she sees an opening and takes the shot. Except Lucifer sees it coming and uses his palms to bear the brunt of the blade.

This angers Aurora Morningstar, who calls forth her bladed wings and stabs him on both sides of his ribs. Then, distracted enough, she plucks the knife from his hands and drives it to his heart, and he falls.

With the steel finally out of her hands, she wakes up from her trance and sees the chaos she caused.

Trembling, she kneels by his side, both hands on her mouth.

"What do I do? What do I do?"

"There's nothing you can do. It's not your fault. It's what the blade does."

"How...how do I fix this? Please, please,"

"Take care of her, will you?"

"No, no, no, no, no, please! Dad! Please!"

The elevator doors ping to signal another arrival, and it's Chloe.

"Lucifer, is…" The former Detective sees the love of her life bleeding out and rushes to him. But when she recognized the weapon, she knew there was nothing she could do.

"No,"

"Mom, I'm sorry. I tried to stop but I couldn't."

"Please leave. I… let me take care of him. Please."

Nine months later, Aurora Morningstar was born. She looks just like Lucifer, with black hair and brown eyes. Chloe didn't want to hold her at first, but she knew in her heart that this child did not do anything wrong. This is what's left of Lucifer apart from his earthly possessions. The best of both of them. So, Chloe soldiers on.

Later, when depression hits her hard, she talks to Amenadiel and says, "I'm trying Amenadiel. But she was the one who took the love of my life from me. He's not in Heaven or Hell, he's just… gone. Sometimes I can't bear to look at her because all I see is him. How am I supposed to deal with that?"

Amenadiel has no words for her, wise or comfort.

The time-traveling Rory lands back to her own time, by her mother's deathbed and says,

"That's why you couldn't tell me. I'm so sorry, Mom."

"It wasn't your fault. Lucifer wouldn't want you to blame yourself."
