Author's Note: There's a draft for that request from a previous comment but it isn't done yet because it doesn't feel done. I'll post once it's completed. No promises on when, though. Thanks for reading!
"This is why you leave," Rory comments as she realizes what role her Dad had to play, why they had to be left behind. It's for a greater purpose, or perhaps the greater good, and that it's just a blip in their existence.
Rory thinks about it; Chloe isn't celestial; it's not going to be just a blip for her. The young angel had seen her mother suffer — crying countless times, thinking no one is looking and putting on a brave face every single day, having to lie — and quite honestly, she wants to change that. She wanted to take her mother's pain away and let her be happy this time, even if it meant giving up what she is today.
Rory is more than willing to trade that and be happy.
The air changes around them, and she's enveloped in this blue light.
"What's happening?"
"I'm going back," Lucifer knows this was bound to happen, but he can't help but reach out to her as if asking her to stay longer.
"You asked me before what I desired. I want you to be there for us every step of the way, Dad. Will you give me your word?"
"You have my word."
They may have said goodbye to future Rory, but it won't take long before they meet her again.
Months later, Chloe walks into their apartment with Lucifer and Trixie trailing behind her and Rory safely tucked in her arms and gets welcomed by their group of friends. Maze, of course, gifts the baby with a huge knife, while Ella and Carol have a giant teddy bear.
Chloe sits on the chair, and once she's settled, Trixie bends down to kiss Rory's forehead. Lucifer stands behind his partner while Linda snaps a candid photo of them, looking so happy and content with the newest addition to their family.
