Nothing was said for a few seconds. Emerys stood up then walked out to the cave, I followed him. When we reached the outside of the cave there was the king and his knights. I stopped before I reached the opening of the cave not trusting the king. Emerys walked out of the cave confidently to be meet with relived faces.
"Merlin don't leave us here like that!" The king said
"Merlin!" a knight said and swung his arm around Emerys shoulders.
"You are getting extra jobs for leaving us here Merlin" The king said
"I thought that I wasn't your servant anymore Arthur." Emerys said while chuckling. "But I have vital information about Morgana and what she might plan to do next. I have a druid seer who saw a vision that you will want to hear."
Emerys looks back into the cave where I was. If he thought I was going out there with all those knights out there. I stayed where I was, and I could tell that the knights were all confused but smirking at each other making fun of Emerys.
"Where would this druid seer be exactly Merlin?" The king said
"She is right in the cave and should come out to tell you what she saw in her vision." Emerys says I narrowed my eyes at him and didn't move.
After a few minutes of the knights laughing there heads off and the king looking amused at Emerys he finally moved to go into the cave. I backed up a little not wanting to be seen right away as Emerys came in. Emerys looked around saw me and walked over.
"Look I need you to come and talk to the Arthur about what you saw, not to mention we could use your help with the fact that you're a seer." Emerys said pleadingly
"I am a druid; my people are hunted for having magic. Uther made sure that we could never be accepted because the people will fear our power. King Arthur may try and change that, but the people's opinion won't be changed so quickly. One good act of magic won't change years' worth of fear of magic. I am not risking my life or my people's lives." I said narrowing my eyes at him. He sighed at me the said,
"I'm not asking you to risk your life. I'm asking if you could just tell Arthur what you saw then we can go from there."
"Fine I will go and say what I saw. I will warn you I have friends that will come looking for me." I responded curtly. I internally winced at the thought of Faolan panicking with me missing telling the Elders then a search party. Sometimes being a seer was annoying. I followed Emerys out of the cave when we came out there was silence. I rolled my eyes and walked up to the king trying to look confident. I felt uncomfortable with the knights around me.
"You really were telling the truth about the druid Merlin." The king said looking surprised.
"What, do you think that I would lie about this?" He responded. The king just shrugged then turned to me.
"So what is your name?"
"Adrastea" I said curtly shifting my weight in uneasiness. I didn't like this; the king's gaze was uncomfortable along with the fact that my whole life was spent to avoid the king at all costs. I was only doing this because Emerys asked even then it was pushing it.
"So, Merlin says you have some vital information you saw in a vision about Morgana?"
I nodded but didn't say anything. He looked like he was waiting for me to tell him but you never know who is listening. I won't be telling him until I'm sure we are safe and no one can hear us.
"Are you going to tell us?" The king says a hint of annoyance in his voice
"No," immediately there were shouts of protest. "I won't tell you until we are in a place we can't be overheard." I said annoyed I ended up yelling the last part so that I could be heard. Everyone was still grumbling at me and the king looked very annoyed to be ordered around by a 18 year old.
"No one is around right now. So, just tell us now." The king said
"I'm only going to say this once more, people can overhear us in the forest. You never know who is listening. I won't say anything until we can't be overheard." I said starting to get annoyed at their thick heads. I hear a wolf howl off in the distance and I immediately turn to the sound. Faolan has a way with animals particularly wolves. He would have them howl messages to me when I was too far away to mind speak. I couldn't understand the howls, but it was how long they howls and how often. I listened to the number of howls and how long. By now all the knights had their swords out and the king and Emerys were alert. The message from Faolan said,
"Elders searching, Danger, powerful witch, looking for seer, message back."
I start running towards were I heard the howls. I wasn't complexly lost in the forest, but I didn't know exactly where I was from wandering off in a trance. I heard clanking from behind me telling me that the knights were following me. I reached a river that was flowing south. I crossed the river then headed in a Northeast line. I was heading towards the druid camp.
I wondered what Faolan was trying to tell me. The main parts were that I was in trouble again for disappearing but the powerful witch and danger I haven't really heard before. I heard a commotion a head and I knew that I was close to the druid camp. I pushed myself even harder to reach everyone. I reached the barrier and put my palm on the rock and pushed some of my magic into it. The door appeared and I ran through not caring at the moment that the knights and king are following me. I was met with the druids running around grabbing supplies and getting ready to leave. I saw some familiar faces but not one really took notice of me.
Faolan I'm at the south entrance of the camp, where are you? I spoke using my mind voice directing to Faolan directly. I'm coming now with some elders, you had us worried. I don't think you're going to be able to leave without five people going with you by the way the elders were talking.
I groaned internally I was so going to get punished for running off two times in one day. Admittedly only one of them was on purpose. I looked up when I heard a gasped to be looking at a crowd of people with scared faces looking behind me. I turned slowly and remembered that the knights and the king was following me. They were standing their swords drawn and looking surprised at the people staring at them. Emerys and the king both stepped forward quickly before anything could happen.
"Adrastea come here now." my father said trying to look brave. I ran to his side not wanting to get in any trouble. Even though I was 18 and was an adult I was still respective of my parents. When I reached my father's side, I turned to look at the imposing group. I saw some elders going to the front of the group. Faolan saw me and came and stood by my side. Some wolves were following him and the looks from the knights was pale face and determination. The elders stepped forward and the male spokesperson stepped even further so everyone was looking at him.
"What are you doing here looking for the druids?"
"I'm King Arther of Camelot, I'm here to ask for your help."
There was a huge intake of breath all at once. Then I could feel the disbelief in the air. After years of persecution by the king of Camelot we weren't' trusting of the kingdom at all. Habits die hard as they say.
"Why would the kingdom that made its goal to slaughter all the magic users want our help?" The king and Emerys both winced at that. I looked at Faolan who mirrored my shocked face when the spokesperson said that.
"I realize that so I'm trying to make up for my father's mistakes." The king says sounding completely sincere.
"How do we know we can trust you?" Another elder said coldly.
"Because we are the only ones that can help save their queen." I said speaking up before anybody else could say anything. Everyone turned to me and staired. "I had a vision about the king's wife. I also have a feeling that if we don't help, we will bring our doom upon ourselves."
The druids were all silent when I said that. Emerys, the King and his knights seemed surprised. Emerys looked over to me probably wondering why I did that.
"How about we create a treaty and announce it to the people. We can work out the details here and now. It seems that both of our groups need each other." The king said the elders nodded following what I said. I knew that they would pull me aside tonight and lecturer me about leaving then talking about my visions. Everyone started talking and I faded to the back of the crowd. I didn't want to be noticed more than I had already. Faolan followed me being the loyal friend he was.
"Explain to me what happened before I send all my wolves after you." He spoke, looking completely serious. I gulped and explained what happed to Faolan not leaving out my visions hoping that he wouldn't ask about them. I really didn't want to talk about my little chat with Morgana to anyone. I would have to tell someone eventually but for now it wasn't that big of a deal.
"So, you are having more visions than usually Emerys shows up and now you think that we should help them due to the vision with the queen." Faolan summed up. I nodded. By now we moved to the very edge of the camp away from the people and were sitting against some stones. The pack of wolves was around us playing around. I had one she-wolve sprawled across my legs while I was petting her.
"I'm not sure what the elders are planning to do or what the king wants but I do know that we are in big trouble if we don't help."
"So, with Emerys here what do you think is going to happen to my favorite druid seer?" Faolan said joking around trying to lighten the atmosphere.
"Well I have absolute no clue! But I do know that if they try and hurt me that my best friend will send wolves after them." I said smiling.
"Na, I'm not your best friend. I'm your only friend."
I stuck my friend tongue out at him and giggled. Two wolves came up and licked me in the face multiple times. I laughed even more and shouted for Faolan to stop his friends.
"I'm not doing anything," He said a little to innocently
The wolves stopped licking my face and I looked up to see the king and Emerys with wide eyes looking at Faolan and I. I laughed at their faces and soon Faolan joins in. The sight they see probably looks very strange with wolves' surroundings Faolan and I. A wolf sprawled across my legs and wolves surrounding us.
"What brings you to bug us today Emerys and King Aruther?" Faolan says before I could say anything.
"Call me Merlin, and I have questions for Adrastea." Emerys said or rather Merlin
"About what?" I responded looking at both.
"Tell us about your vision with the queen" The king said.
"I saw her on her knees begging for her life, she was with child. Morgana was tormenting her. I fear that she wouldn't live long when I saw my vision." I kept it short and sweet not wanting to go into greater detail.
"Gwen is pregnant?" The king said looking surprised.
"Thats all you got from that you big prat?" Merlin said
"Of course, not you dollop head!"
"King Arther and Merlin we have more important things to discuss than what caught your attention." Faolan said I snorted and nodded
"Well in that case we should all go talk to the druid Elders and make a plan of action." The king said
We walked to the center of the village then I got dragged to talk to the elders along with the knights. I dragged Faolan along with me so I wouldn't suffer alone. By the end of the day, I didn't remember what was discussed only that Faolan and I had entertained ourselves throughout the whole process. Five minutes in and I was bored out of my mind by all the fluff the king was doing. By the end of the night all our visitors were leaving, and I was heading to my bed to sleep the day away. I was stopped and then made to talk about my visions with the elders. I was tired and wanted to go to bed. After a while I was finally able to go to my family in which I spent another hour telling them what had happened. I was finally able to go to bed and sleep peacefully until my siblings jumped on me and screamed in my ear for me to get up.
"Adrasta it's a big day for you today." My dad said when I got to the fire where he was cooking breakfast. My mother was over watching my siblings making sure they didn't kill anything. My siblings had the normal magic all druids had with incantations and study.
"Is it another lesson with the elders?" I said I hated going to magic lessons they were long and boring.
"No, you're going to Camelot to learn from Emerys." He said confused
"WHAT?!" I yelled surprised "When did that happen?"
"Yesterday that the meeting didn't you hear?" He said surprised
"I wasn't paying attention." I admitted with a wince. "I was tired and was talking with Faolan."
"One of these days you are going to get in huge trouble for not listening to the elders and what they say." he said looking sternly at me I smiled sheepishly.
"Adrasta did you know that you were going to Camelot today?" Faolan says running up to me.
"No, I wasn't listening yesterday, did you know?"
"Nope you were distracting me." I scoffed at him Blaming it on me real mature.
"When am I leaving?" I said and turned to my dad
"Lunchtime, I'm guessing you didn't listen to the rest of what they wanted you to do?" he said sarcastically. I grinned sheepishly at him and he sighed. "You need to go talk to the elders about some stuff then pack and be ready to leave at lunch, you also need to talk to your mother before you leave a well." I gulped and sighed. I finished eating breakfast and started heading to the elders. All throughout breakfast Faolan was bugging me and joking around. He could tell that I was stressed, and he was trying his best to take my mind of things.
When I reached the huge tent were the elders meet every morning I stopped and prepared myself. I stepped in to be meet with a group of all ten elders. They were sitting on the ground talking amongst themselves. I gulped and stepped up and got their attention.
